PEO of Last Resort **Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Manufacturing | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** May 21, 2026 **What do you like best about ADP TotalSource?** Safety consultation and expertise is top notch. Anne Dorrance is incredible to work with. She's a safety expert who can help create practical solutions employers and employees will actually use. Very proactive and responsive, with excellent options and solutions for challenges. **What do you dislike about ADP TotalSource?** The worst new client onboarding/implementation process I've ever experienced. The worst customer service and support I've ever experienced; even my dedicated service team takes 1-3 business days to respond to any type of inquiry. My payroll specialist was changed 3 times in 2 years, my HR specialist was changed 4 times in 2 years. When we escalated issues, the Client Liasion threw his team under the bus and did not help us fix the issues. They setup our S-Corp owners incorrectly which impacted payroll taxes and created a need for issuing W-2Cs. I caught the error, they said it wasn't an error, I pushed, they said oops yes it is an error, and it took more than 6 months to resolve, we couldn't even get regular updates from them. Everything with ADP was difficult, cumbersome, and took forever. Their payroll tax teams takes a minimum of 6 months to respond, even when you ask to escalate an issue. They failed to set up SUI in a new state for us, failed to pay the taxes for 2 quarters as a result, failed to respond when the state threatened to issue a tax warrant for non-payment, and we paid the outstanding tax directly to avoid the warrant. We gave notice after a 60% increase to our medical plans with no other options provided to us (the alternative medical plan provided saved only 5% over the 60% increase option); we had to ask them about a PEO carve-out option or ASO option, and they took 3 weeks to get back to us. As someone who has worked both in-house at a PEO and worked with multiple PEOs as a client, I truly cannot believe there is a PEO this bad out there. **What problems is ADP TotalSource solving and how is that benefiting you?** At first it was access to competitive benefits and crafting a benefits strategy. They are very strong in the initial sales process and were very impressive. That stops after you become a partner. Ultimately they provide the same solutions every other PEO does: multi-state HR and payroll compliance. Wish it was different **Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Margaret P. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** August 07, 2023 **What do you like best about ADP TotalSource?** Health Benefits are available - we were upset that we were based on our current claims and not in a larger blanket pool that would give us better/inexpensive health care. This was one of the main reasons we went with TotalSource **What do you dislike about ADP TotalSource?** The price is extremely high. If you experience any problems you have to go through so many different departments/people to try and get it resolved, which takes forever. Reports should be tailored to the customer and right now we have to do an extremely long spreadsheet to enter our payroll into our system. As soon as we have the time, we will be looking for another platform. **What problems is ADP TotalSource solving and how is that benefiting you?** Trying to get any problem solved takes you in a circle to get to the right person. We are not the experts and depend on your company. The response time is not acceptable. Things take forever to get resolved. It also holds organizational information such as the org chart and documents related to my compensation. **What do you like best about ADP TotalSource?** It is helpful that all of the links that are related to my compensation, benefits, etc are all in one place. **What do you dislike about ADP TotalSource?** The links to external sites, especially related to commuted benefits and FSA, do not work the first time. The timesheet/PTO tracker is not intuitive to use. **What problems is ADP TotalSource solving and how is that benefiting you?** ADP allows all the information an employee needs to be housed in one place, which is very helpful.
