What do you like best about Chargebee?

What do you dislike about Chargebee?

Promise their system is robust and can handle any needs. Couldn't handle our simple billing needs and then tried to force us to pay for an entire year. Complicated pricing for their service and a lot of fine print in everything they do. Missing very basic things you would expect from any billing solution, back end is complicated and simple tasks take longer than using something like Quickbooks Online. What problems is Chargebee solving and how is that benefiting you?

We approached chargebee with simple billing needs. We have clients that sign up for custom marketing packages that we have to invoice or charge a payment on file each month for the same amount until their package changes. Was told our needs were simple and easy to handle. Promised their system would be more efficient to setup and their system would save us time updating our clients payment methods when they expire or are updated, and that we could have more options on our payment processor. We were using Quickbooks Online, stuck with their payment processor and lacing simple things in QBO like the ability to retry payments through auto dunning etc. Sales team promised all simple tasks, and the ability to integrate with QBO and sync data etc.

Signed up on their started monthly plan. Discovered quickly everything was centered around subscriptions, no easy way to generate one off invoices, and couldn't even handle a simple task like setting up a recurring subscription that charged a client on the last day of the month in arrears for that month's services. Since we didn't have a limited set of "plans" and most of our customers had various items each client wold require a lot of manual work getting the pricing setup because everything is tied to subscriptions and plan pricing with limited options to customize.

Spent several days and countless hours trying to find workarounds to get it to work, but finally gave up. Took the time to share issues with their team, and no solutions just workarounds that required more manual effort.

Their pricing structure is based on ARR and gets expensive with overage charges if you have fewer clients that you need to bill higher amounts for.

If you run a gym or sell software subscriptions for low value and only offer a couple plans / prices and you want to bill in advance and have client prepay and don't need the ability to do a one off invoice then maybe their solution will fit. Otherwise, don't assume anything just because it's a well know billing solution.

To make matters worse, When I tried to part ways because I was tired of spending so much time and also realized their solution even if they could somehow address all of our issues, it would require more time and headache setting up and maintaining than we would ever save anywhere else, rather than respecting their solution wasn't a good fit for our needs within a week after we signed up they tried to claim we agreed to a 1 year term and are saying they are going to continue sending us invoices for the next 12 months.

I never signed a contract they claimed I agreed to those terms when I signed up which I never saw and regardless it just shows all they care about is getting you signed up and then trying to collect money without any accountability to provide a solution that works for your needs. I don't normally take the time to leave negative reviews, I believe in giving people grace but in this case I feel I need to because their billing actions are completely unacceptable and their service and support frankly leaves a lot to be desired especially for the price they charge.

Let this be a warning to all to look elsewhere. Or know 100% and have tested their solution to meet all your needs before signing up. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

In 2026, the AI's ability to recognize intent—predicting account codes for complex transactions based on historical patterns rather than just simple rules—has cut our month-end closing time by nearly 30%. What do you dislike about Xero?

While the core platform is excellent, the tier-based feature gating can still be frustrating. For example, needing a higher-tier plan or a third-party app just for advanced inventory or multi-warehouse tracking feels like a bit of a leap for mid-sized businesses. I also think the user interface consistency needs work. While the new dashboard and reporting sections are sleek and modern, navigating back into the deeper settings or the Chart of Accounts feels like stepping back five years. What problems is Xero solving and how is that benefiting you?

The primary problem Xero solves for us is the "Financial Information Gap." Before Xero, we were always looking at the previous month's data to make today's decisions. Now, with real-time bank feeds and the Single Ledger approach, my accountant and I are always aligned. This transparency allows us to be far more agile. We can spot cash flow dips before they happen and pivot our spending without the anxiety of "not knowing the numbers." I really like that NetSuite is very easy to customize. You can hire a consultant to customize the system or write a script, and the system can be expanded or tailored based on different business needs, making it almost like a bespoke system for any business. It's also very easy to use and understand. Being a 100% cloud-based system is a great benefit, especially since we have people working across the globe and it allows us to see data in real-time without waiting for transactions to process. Sometimes, if there's a feature that doesn't work with NetSuite, it can take ages for them to address it with an enhancement because not a lot of customers may want it. Stampli completely changed how our company sends out invoices for approval before payment. Before Stampli, I was being sent invoices for approval over email. This lead to some invoices slipping through the cracks and being lost until down the road, the accounting team would follow up and ask for approval again. Very simple to integrate and set up. The solution comes with complete and very clear documentation. I have dealt with the customer service of the solution several times via their online chat in the dashboard for various elements that I hadn't necessarily understood well: they have always been able to meet my expectations.

We use Paddle Billing very regularly to manage our monetary transactions.

It has sped up approvals, given reps the ability to send contracts for signature instead of relying on dealdesk, and automated much of our deal data in Hubspot, including line items, ARR, TCV, etc. MonetizeNow has also helped us automate renewals and finally capture renewal data in Hubspot, rather than tracking it manually in a Google Sheet.

However, the best part of working with MonetizeNow has been Perry and the customer success team. They are genuinely attentive and provide a best-in-class CS experience.

I used Refrens’ free version for a while and found it extremely useful. I was a bit hesitant to upgrade, but after using the premium version for a year, I can honestly say it’s the best accounting software out there—especially at such a low cost.

What do you dislike about Checkbook?

This company is fraudulent and a scam, and they do not answer the phone. I received two checks through email from America PAC for the Elon Musk petition referral program. Checkbook.io sent the checks.

I deposited the checks via mobile deposit and my bank flagged the checks and shut my account down saying the checks were fraudulent. When I tried to dispute this matter and explained that they are not fraud, Wells Fargo told me they require verification from Checkbook.io to prove the checks were legitimate. I sent over 30 detailed emails as well as attempted to call them. When you call them, it says “no support agents are available. All I needed them to do was call from a verified phone number and tell my bank the checks were legitimate. They couldn’t even do that.

What financial business does not operate using the phone? It makes no sense.

When I finally do get an email back, it isn’t helpful at all, and my support inquiry is closed and marked completed.

My bank is closing my account on 2/4/25 if I can’t get the checks verified by then. My funds are being held by bank, and I will have to have my long awaited checks recalled and then re-issued if I can’t get this done. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Tabs?

Tabs' UI is easyto use and the the ability to upload a customer contract and have the system create the billing components helps with efficiency and allows you to perform a review of the setup independent of creating the components manually. The ability to load our usage data without having to put it in a special format also helps with efficiency and accuracy of data.

I especially liked the implementation process which didn't require a significant level of effort. The integration with NetSuite is pretty seamless.
