Recurring Billing Software

Promise their system is robust and can handle any needs. Couldn't handle our simple billing needs and then tried to force us to pay for an entire year. Complicated pricing for their service and a lot of fine print in everything they do. Missing very basic things you would expect from any billing solution, back end is complicated and simple tasks take longer than using something like Quickbooks Online. We approached chargebee with simple billing needs. We have clients that sign up for custom marketing packages that we have to invoice or charge a payment on file each month for the same amount until their package changes. Was told our needs were simple and easy to handle. Promised their system would be more efficient to setup and their system would save us time updating our clients payment methods when they expire or are updated, and that we could have more options on our payment processor. We were using Quickbooks Online, stuck with their payment processor and lacing simple things in QBO like the ability to retry payments through auto dunning etc. Sales team promised all simple tasks, and the ability to integrate with QBO and sync data etc.

Signed up on their started monthly plan. Discovered quickly everything was centered around subscriptions, no easy way to generate one off invoices, and couldn't even handle a simple task like setting up a recurring subscription that charged a client on the last day of the month in arrears for that month's services. Since we didn't have a limited set of "plans" and most of our customers had various items each client wold require a lot of manual work getting the pricing setup because everything is tied to subscriptions and plan pricing with limited options to customize.

Spent several days and countless hours trying to find workarounds to get it to work, but finally gave up. Took the time to share issues with their team, and no solutions just workarounds that required more manual effort.

Their pricing structure is based on ARR and gets expensive with overage charges if you have fewer clients that you need to bill higher amounts for.

If you run a gym or sell software subscriptions for low value and only offer a couple plans / prices and you want to bill in advance and have client prepay and don't need the ability to do a one off invoice then maybe their solution will fit. Otherwise, don't assume anything just because it's a well know billing solution.

To make matters worse, When I tried to part ways because I was tired of spending so much time and also realized their solution even if they could somehow address all of our issues, it would require more time and headache setting up and maintaining than we would ever save anywhere else, rather than respecting their solution wasn't a good fit for our needs within a week after we signed up they tried to claim we agreed to a 1 year term and are saying they are going to continue sending us invoices for the next 12 months.

I never signed a contract they claimed I agreed to those terms when I signed up which I never saw and regardless it just shows all they care about is getting you signed up and then trying to collect money without any accountability to provide a solution that works for your needs. I don't normally take the time to leave negative reviews, I believe in giving people grace but in this case I feel I need to because their billing actions are completely unacceptable and their service and support frankly leaves a lot to be desired especially for the price they charge.

Let this be a warning to all to look elsewhere. Or know 100% and have tested their solution to meet all your needs before signing up. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

While the core platform is excellent, the tier-based feature gating can still be frustrating. For example, needing a higher-tier plan or a third-party app just for advanced inventory or multi-warehouse tracking feels like a bit of a leap for mid-sized businesses. I also think the user interface consistency needs work. While the new dashboard and reporting sections are sleek and modern, navigating back into the deeper settings or the Chart of Accounts feels like stepping back five years. The primary problem Xero solves for us is the "Financial Information Gap." Before Xero, we were always looking at the previous month's data to make today's decisions. Now, with real-time bank feeds and the Single Ledger approach, my accountant and I are always aligned. This transparency allows us to be far more agile. We can spot cash flow dips before they happen and pivot our spending without the anxiety of "not knowing the numbers." Sometimes, if there's a feature that doesn't work with NetSuite, it can take ages for them to address it with an enhancement because not a lot of customers may want it. NetSuite consolidates multi-subsidiary accounts quickly, saving two days at month-end. Its 100% cloud-based system allows for real-time financial balance sheet access and is easily customizable to different business needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Stampli is doing a great job consolidating invoices into one clearly visible area for approval by the people who need to review and approve the invoices. No longer are pending invoices slipping through the cracks and possibly getting additional fees because of late payments. Anchor is solving the problem of messy, time-consuming billing and payment collection by making the entire process simple and streamlined — for both me and my clients. It keeps everything organized in one place, makes it easy for clients to view and pay, and reduces back-and-forth or confusion. For me, that means I’m spending less time chasing payments or managing invoicing details and more time focusing on my actual client work. It’s helped me run my business more efficiently, feel more confident in my process, and it creates a smoother, more professional experience for the clients I serve. Our Law toolbox subsidiary is painful. Senior accountants manually raise invoices, download data from partner portals, and track revenue in Excel and partially in Recurly. We can't even pull basic metrics like churn or renewal rates because the data is everywhere.

Although FreshBooks does a great job with ease of use, the reporting features could be more advanced for those who want deeper insights into financial trends. I’d also like a bit more flexibility when customizing invoices and dashboards. Additionally, the cost may feel high for freelancers or very small businesses on a tight budget. Notes & Notifications: Expand the notes section and improve notifications for better visibility and usability.

Error Handling: Provide more detailed explanations for sync errors beyond the current generic messages.

Invoice Controls: Enable the ability to set period restrictions for invoice entry to prevent posting in closed periods or payment dates errors.

GL Coding: Allow use of keyboard shortcuts or quick keys for GL account selection instead of manual dropdown navigation.

Inbox Processing: When forwarding an email with multiple invoices, the email currently becomes the backup, creating extra manual work. Suggest enabling the option to copy the email backup directly in the inbox rather than uploading it each time.

We have had difficulties in properly customizing the customer experience through the various checkouts provided: notably the overlay checkout, which is not really customizable (apart from the text color). Similarly, some points are relatively opaque (such as the automatic reactivation of a subscription after a payment failure and then regularization, for example). We wanted to integrate a simple, efficient, and no upfront cost payment platform into our solution. Paddle was able to meet our expectations with its turnkey solution. There’s a learning curve with any software, especially CPQ, so be ready to learn a lot in a short time and to help guide reps who have never used it before. MonetizeNow has sped up approvals, enabled reps to send contracts for signature without having to rely on dealdesk, and automated much of our deal data in Hubspot, including line items, ARR, TCV, and more. Most importantly, MonetizeNow has also helped us automate renewals and, at last, capture renewal data in Hubspot instead of tracking it manually in a Google Sheet. Refrens requires an active internet connection or mobile data to function properly, which can be inconvenient in areas with poor connectivity. Since it is cloud-based, offline access is limited or unavailable. Some advanced accounting or reporting features found in more expensive enterprise software may be missing, which could be a limitation for larger or more complex businesses. Refrens works really well on mobile, making it easy to manage invoices, expenses, and clients on the go without needing a laptop. It’s very cost-effective compared to other accounting software, especially for small businesses and freelancers. Maxio relieves us of the burden of managing monthly subscriptions, so we don't have to worry about it. Its flexibility allows me to control how often customers receive billing reminders, when they get them, and what actions follow. We offer a variety of pricing models for our different services, and Maxio enables us to separate these services into distinct billing platforms. This way, revenue calculations are specific to each service and not combined, eliminating the hassle of manually sorting through data to separate revenue by service. The calendar is buggy and it doesn't offer me the option of seeing all the calendars of the whole office at the same time. I coordinate the schedule and I need to see everyone's availability. We keep practice info at our fingertips and use it to track time. I also like the task tracking and the ability to set up task flows that trigger the next step on completion of the previous. This company is fraudulent and a scam, and they do not answer the phone. I received two checks through email from America PAC for the Elon Musk petition referral program. Checkbook.io sent the checks.

I deposited the checks via mobile deposit and my bank flagged the checks and shut my account down saying the checks were fraudulent. When I tried to dispute this matter and explained that they are not fraud, Wells Fargo told me they require verification from Checkbook.io to prove the checks were legitimate. I sent over 30 detailed emails as well as attempted to call them. When you call them, it says “no support agents are available. Leave your number and email and someone will get back to you” and nobody ever calls you. I've called over 100 times.

All I needed them to do was call from a verified phone number and tell my bank the checks were legitimate. They couldn’t even do that.

What financial business does not operate using the phone? It makes no sense.

When I finally do get an email back, it isn’t helpful at all, and my support inquiry is closed and marked completed.

My bank is closing my account on 2/4/25 if I can’t get the checks verified by then. My funds are being held by bank, and I will have to have my long awaited checks recalled and then re-issued if I can’t get this done. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
