Patch Management Software

Typically, Patch Management is a capability of a variety of other G2 Software categories. See more below to select the

best Patch Management Software.

Patch management refers to identifying, creating, and installing patches to ensure application safety and functionality. While programs are running, necessary alterations and improvements will come in the form of a software patch. The most directly related software category is vulnerability management. These tools will help alert IT administrators and automate tasks associated with soft patching. Both network monitoring and enterprise IT management suites will provide similar capabilities with significant additional functionality. Network monitoring software will constantly track network performance and reliability. Enterprise IT management suites provide a larger control center for all components of a system's IT infrastructure including patch management.

“A Powerful All-in-One IT Management Solution”
What do you like best about NinjaOne?

The interface is clean and straightforward, making it easy to navigate and quickly find what you need without wasting time.

Another key advantage is its all-in-one design features like remote monitoring, patch management, remote access, and scripting are all available in a single platform, which helps reduce the need for multiple tools and keeps everything in one place. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about NinjaOne?

One drawback of NinjaOne is that some of its advanced features can feel a bit limited compared to more robust enterprise tools, especially when it comes to deeper customization and reporting.

The reporting, in particular, could be more flexible and detailed, which can make it a bit challenging when you need very specific insights for clients or internal use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is NinjaOne solving and how is that benefiting you?

One of the main challenges it solves is managing endpoints across different locations. Instead of switching between multiple tools or systems, everything can be monitored and managed from a single dashboard, which saves a lot of time and effort.

It also makes it easier to automate routine tasks like patching, updates, and basic troubleshooting. This reduces manual work and helps keep systems secure and up to date without needing constant attention. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“Atera Makes Client Management Fast, Proactive, and Time-Saving”
What do you like best about Atera?

What I like most about Atera is how easy it makes it to manage all my clients from one platform. Remote access is fast and reliable, patch management is straightforward, and the monitoring alerts help me stay proactive rather than reactive. Overall, it saves me a lot of time in my day-to-day IT work. I highly recommend Atera to any IT professional or MSP who’s looking for an all-in-one solution that’s efficient and cost-effective. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Atera?

One thing I dislike about Atera is that some advanced features feel limited compared to more complex RMM platforms. Occasionally the interface can feel a bit slow when managing a large number of devices. However, overall the platform still delivers great value for the price and continues to improve with updates. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Atera solving and how is that benefiting you?

Atera helps me solve the challenge of managing multiple clients and devices efficiently from a single, centralized platform. With it, I can monitor systems in real time, automate patch management, and provide remote support quickly without having to juggle multiple tools. As a result, downtime for my clients is reduced, my response times improve, and my overall productivity increases. It also makes it easier to scale my IT services in a more controlled way while keeping costs predictable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“Endpoint Central: All-in-One IT Management with Minimal Ongoing Overhead”
What do you like best about ManageEngine Endpoint Central?

Endpoint Central comes pre-fitted with many modules, including OS deployment, a self-service portal, software deployment, patch management, asset inventory, remote management, reporting, and more. For our organisation, having a single tool that delivers all of these capabilities to an acceptable standard is invaluable. There is a fair amount of work involved in configuring each module to suit our specific use cases, but once that is in place, the ongoing management overhead is extremely minimal. After that, the main effort is limited to small, intermittent updates, such as adding new software, deploying group-policy-style configurations, and similar changes as needed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ManageEngine Endpoint Central?

The product interface feels a bit clunky and never quite achieves a “premium” or “modern” aesthetic. That said, it isn’t a major issue, since the interface is mainly used by administrators.

Out of the box, there’s an intimidating wall of tasks that need to be set up and configured before everything is running smoothly. This includes patch management settings (auto-approving and deploying with test groups), OS deployment (creating a golden image and configuring networking for PXE boot), and software configuration plus the self-service portal. The latter has been significantly streamlined over time thanks to the addition of thousands of templates that Manage Engine have built out since we first implemented the solution. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is ManageEngine Endpoint Central solving and how is that benefiting you?

Endpoint Central boasts an incredibly versatile toolset that addresses more thzn I can fit into a single review. It completely automates and streamlines patch management, software deployment and self-service, provides end-user workstation support and toolsets (remote capabilities, remote command line, inventory details and reporting, and more), OS deployment and configuration, etc.

For the purpose of this review I'll hone in on the end to end deployment and configuration of workstations, which has undoubtedly saved our organisation hours of otherwise menial and repetitive configurations and management.

Using the OS deployment tool, we are able to apply a golden image that already has the Endpoint Central agent installed - using this we can deploy to a blank machine with the major prerequisites already in place; i.e agent installed, domain joined, and an administrator account already pre-loaded for any situations in remote support where cached credentials may be required (Think domain-trust issues and such). This deployment allows the workstation to be already named and loaded into a specific OU in active directory.

The task configurations can vary from browser configurations, software deployments, certification installs, firewall settings, registry changes and more; but most importantly these can be grouped together into custom task configurations that can be targeted based on criteria such as the OU that the PC is based in. This allows us end to end configuration and complete targeted build of the workstation, bar the provisioning of the end-user profile, and frees up what would otherwise be hours of turnaround for staff onboarding/offboarding configurations. “Authentic, Experience-Based Reviews for PRTG Paessler”
What do you like best about Paessler PRTG?

The absolute standout for me is how effortlessly I can spin up custom EXE sensors that pull live Modbus data straight from our legacy PLCs on the factory floor and correlate it with power draw on individual CNC machines. No other tool I’ve tried lets me do that without fighting through three layers of middleware or writing a full-blown agent. Last quarter I had one sensor flagging a 12% spike in vibration on a milling station at 2 a.m.—turned out to be a bearing starting to go. Fixed it during the next shift window instead of losing half a day of production. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Paessler PRTG?

The hierarchical grouping for OT devices is still pretty manual. Every time maintenance swaps a sensor or adds a new actuator I have to go rebuild the tree structure by hand, and if you forget one sub-group the maps look like a jigsaw with missing pieces. It’s not a deal-breaker, but after a busy shutdown week it feels like busywork that should be smarter by now. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Paessler PRTG solving and how is that benefiting you?

We used to fly blind on predictive maintenance—machines would just fail and we’d scramble. Now PRTG gives us trending curves I can actually show the maintenance guys in plain English. We cut unplanned downtime by roughly 40 % on the critical lines and shaved about 18 % off our quarterly energy bill because we finally saw which machines were idling at full power overnight. The ROI showed up in the first six months. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Pandora FMS?

Pandora FMS consolidates server health, application metrics, network device status, and log data into a single console, so I can correlate events across layers without toggling between tools. The service tree feature is particularly useful because I can immediately see which underlying component pushed a parent service into critical state rather than checking each element separately. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Pandora FMS?

Initial configuration is time-consuming. Setting up agents, defining monitoring policies, and tuning alert thresholds across a heterogeneous environment requires considerable upfront effort. Report customization also feels limited compared to what most management presentations actually need. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Pandora FMS solving and how is that benefiting you?

Now one console tells me whether a slow application traces back to a database bottleneck, a saturated network link, or a server resource issue. That single correlated view has cut average diagnosis time noticeably and reduced the number of tickets requiring escalation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“Best Automation Tool: Simple effective and really user-friendly”
What do you like best about Tines?

What I like best about Tines is their incredible support team. They are always fast, helpful, and go above and beyond—at one point I even had a Zoom call with them to solve a specific issue. That level of personalized support really enhanced my experience with the tool. When I first started, I interacted with the support team almost daily, and they consistently provided quick, accurate solutions while also making sure I understood the reasoning behind them.

Another huge advantage of Tines is how much you can accomplish with minimal technical knowledge. Even though I have a computer science background, I find Tines to be much simpler and more effective than other tools I’ve used. It makes automating complex workflows straightforward and accessible, regardless of your skill level.

On top of that, Tines keeps getting better. They’ve integrated AI, which has significantly expanded what you can achieve with the platform. The team is constantly improving the product and rolling out new features, which makes it feel like you’re always working with a cutting-edge tool. This constant innovation, combined with its simplicity and powerful automation capabilities, is why Tines has become one of my absolute favorite platforms. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Tines?

One of the things I dislike about Tines is that when working with run script events, I really miss having a more advanced integrated development environment (IDE). I understand that Tines is not intended to function as a traditional development tool, but having a more robust script editor would be very helpful when building more complex workflows. Features like autocomplete, more advanced syntax highlighting, or better error handling could significantly enhance the experience of writing and debugging code directly within the platform Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Tines solving and how is that benefiting you?

Tines helps us solve the challenge of integrating various tools and platforms into one seamless workflow. We use Tines to connect our messaging platform with other tools, allowing us to centralize communications and actions. For example, we can create comments in external tools directly from our messaging platform, ensuring that everything stays in one place. Additionally, we automate task creation for our teams, assigning tasks through Tines by simply filling out a form. One of the biggest benefits is the ability to generate PDF reports from our tools automatically, eliminating the need for manual report creation.

Tines has also enabled us to integrate and automate workflows between tools that don't have native integrations. This flexibility has significantly improved our efficiency across multiple areas of our work, allowing us to streamline processes, reduce manual tasks, and improve overall productivity. “Complete visibility on network activity”
What do you like best about ExtraHop?

What I like most about ExtraHop is the ability to monitor and analyze all traffic passing through the network. Generally, companies have strong endpoint controls through tools like EDR; however, network is often limited to firewalls with intrusion detection and intrusion prevention rules. Where I find ExtraHop excels is through complete network visibility by mapping assets, learning network traffic and spotting anomalies, and giving Security Operations teams visibility into what is occurring on their network.

ExtraHop is easy to deploy through either and appliance on physical networks our through a virtual appliance in the cloud. The Customer Success teams are deeply knowledgable and provide great support to customers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ExtraHop?

Not a dislike but a feature I would like to see is ExtraHop move towards prevention. Currently, the product is good at identifying and detecting suspicious or malicious activity. Prevention can be achieved through integration with tools but it would be nice to have these native to ExtraHop. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is ExtraHop solving and how is that benefiting you?

Whenever we perform penetration tests, ExtraHop is always the first tool to detect the activity. Often times, the penetration testers will start their campaigns performing reconnaissance and trying to remain stealthy. Because they are not attempting to exploit vulnerabilities at this stage and may be using legitimate system tools, these actions would usually go unnoticed. By inspecting all network traffic, ExtraHop is quick to determine unusual activity on the network host even if it is not a managed device. The network traffic can be inspected by SOC teams and actions can be taken to contain the suspicious device. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Red Hat Smart Management?

Red Hat Smart Management exhibits strong integration with Red Hat products, which may pose challenges if considering a transition to alternative vendors down the road. Additionally, apart from these overarching concerns, a number of users have expressed criticisms about specific aspects of Red Hat Smart Management:

1.Navigating and utilizing the reporting system can be somewhat challenging. 2.While capable, the performance monitoring features may not match the robustness found in some competing products.

3.The support for non-Red Hat systems is somewhat limited. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Red Hat Smart Management solving and how is that benefiting you?

Improved security: Red Hat Smart Management can help organizations to improve their security posture by providing a centralized view of all RHEL systems and by automating patch management.

“Solid product backed by a very engaged company that wants our input and takes actions on it”
What do you like best about Entuity?

The deployment of ENA has allowed us to retire multiple other products and reduce the number of management IPs we have to configure in SNMP from 7-9 down to just two. Since that initial deployment, we have expanded it's use globally we allowed us to retire an additional 7 tools.

Possibly more than technical side, the relationship we have been able to build with the owners, Park Place, and the level of access to development and their senior leadership team as mean that we continue to get to steer direction on new features in the product to make sure it fits our needs as a service provider. I believe this is the best partnership we have had with any vendor in our history. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Entuity?

The biggest challenge is lack of name recognition as we leverage ENA as part of the services that we provide to our client base. From targeted marketing or more highly visible partnerships, the Entuity name needs more recognition in the IT Network world. They were purchased by Park Place a few years ago which has helped in some areas but not in the area of name recognition in the monitoring space.

One other area of concern, which is likely true with many vendors, but something we didn't used to see with the Entuity folks is they tend to defer instead of just coming out and saying 'no' to some questions. If we are asking for them to support something new that doesn't make sense to them we would appreciate a more open and honest answer. I recently met with their executive team and got those answers that their engineers will no longer provide. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Entuity:

Do a trial and work with the sales engineers. As a hosting company we have a very large and complex network and produces situations that they could not handle. The sales engineers immediately took those to development and in roughly one week we had a custom hot-fix that addressed all of our concerns. And to our delight, all of those changes were included in the GA product release to the public. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Entuity solving and how is that benefiting you?

The biggest has been tool consolidation. When we are supporting a client that is having a performance problem, the ability to go to a single console to see all the network views that we care about (instead of half a dozen different products) goes a long way to reduce the time to resolution. Then on top of that are all the event management rules we can leverage to control unwanted noise and out of the box integration to our preferred enterprise management tool, BMC TrueSight.

Another major gap that we have used Entuity to fill is to have regular backups of network equipment configurations across many brands. There are still some gaps but it is narrowing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“Very important and appropriate solution for our AWS cloud Environment”
What do you like best about AWS Systems Manager?

Since, Macie covers s3, cloudwatch covers VPC logs, Cloudtrail with api calls within services. There were some limitations within them. Since our infrastructure may be secure, but in case of defense in depth, we should always consider regular patching of EC2, identify unwanted softwares. Who and when it happened. All these should be logged for correlating purpose. System Manager with help of agents and aggregators shows the posture of an OS or an EC2 or running core. The integration is also very simple with other services to make sure security and compliance is in stand. Coming to patch manager, using playbooks were pretty easy and risk free as it could be triggered based on rules. Thanks for such a service. Implementation and support are always available from docs, whitepapers, community etc, . Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about AWS Systems Manager?

Downside is, Overall , in view of compliance sometimes PII uploaded to s3 can be identified with Macie. But when its an image or pdf containing photo copies of such personal sensitive information its hard to identify. It might be stored on the ec2 or s3. But figuring out it is complex. What I like best about ManageEngine OpManager Plus is its centralized monitoring that brings network, server, and application visibility into one dashboard. It simplifies managing complex environments and reduces the need for multiple tools. The real-time insights and easy interface help quickly identify and resolve issues. Its flexible alerting system ensures timely notifications, helping minimize downtime. Overall, it is a reliable solution that improves efficiency and maintains stable IT operations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ManageEngine OpManager Plus?

What I dislike about ManageEngine OpManager Plus is that its interface can sometimes feel a bit cluttered, especially when managing large environments with many devices. Initial setup and fine-tuning alerts can also take time, as there are many configurations to go through. Additionally, reporting customization is somewhat limited compared to expectations, and some advanced features require extra modules or licensing. At times, performance may slow down when handling a large volume of data, which can impact the overall user experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“Quick Setup, Reliable Alerts—A Solid Monitoring Tool”
What do you like best about Site24x7?

We’ve been using Site24x7 mainly for uptime and basic infrastructure monitoring. What I like most is that it didn’t take long to get running, and once the alerts were configured it’s been pretty reliable. When something goes down or performance drops we usually know right away. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Site24x7?

The UI took me a little bit of time to get used to, but after the initial setup it’s mostly “set it and forget it.” Overall it’s been a solid monitoring tool for our needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Site24x7 solving and how is that benefiting you?

Before using Site24x7 we didn’t have a great way to proactively monitor uptime and system performance. Most of the time we would only notice issues after someone reported them. With Site24x7 in place, we now get alerts if something goes down or performance starts to degrade, which allows us to respond much faster.

It’s also helpful having everything in one place instead of checking multiple tools or logs. Overall it’s given us better visibility into our systems and helps us catch issues earlier before they turn into bigger problems. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“Nicus Administrator review”
What do you like best about Nicus?

The tool is very straightforward to administer. I have 13 regular users in our IT Finance team plus a variety of users in other areas of IT and the Business. The normal administrative functions are easy to use and allow me to see most of the views I need out of the box. Customizing reports and tables is a drag and drop interface. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Nicus?

There are a few views I would like to have as an administrator that are not part of the regular report package. This makes it harder to see what reports are available to particular users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Nicus solving and how is that benefiting you?

WE have transferred all the day to day work of the IT Finance team to Nicus. This has gotten them off of multiple spreadsheets and allowed better reporting. One team member told me that now the tools used are not the bottleneck but getting the reports from the cost center owners. We do all financial reporting out of Nicus now and the IT directors are used to seeing the financial reports in Nicus. We are now expanding to creating a Cost Model and generating the first Bills of IT to validate with the business side. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
