Patch Management Software

Typically, Patch Management is a capability of a variety of other G2 Software categories. See more below to select the

best Patch Management Software.

Patch management refers to identifying, creating, and installing patches to ensure application safety and functionality. While programs are running, necessary alterations and improvements will come in the form of a software patch. The most directly related software category is vulnerability management. These tools will help alert IT administrators and automate tasks associated with soft patching. Both network monitoring and enterprise IT management suites will provide similar capabilities with significant additional functionality. Network monitoring software will constantly track network performance and reliability. Enterprise IT management suites provide a larger control center for all components of a system's IT infrastructure including patch management.

“Revolutionalised Our Workflows”
What do you like best about NinjaOne?

Automations work as expected, patching (software and OS) is reliable, Ninja Remote is easy to use for both us and end user, remote powershell/cmd works well too. (There's now even background remote so we can log on and view event viewer for example without disturbing end user). NinjaOne is very easy to set up, customer service is fantastic and I often hear from my account manager who wants to check in with us. Active Discord community where both other customers and NinjaOne staff are on hand to assist.

I like how I can see everything in one portal and that they are always adding new features. Even better is we can SSO onto the platform and it supports passkeys!

We are using it for documentation and our IT knowledge base and it is good to have everything in one place for our techs.

I have recently started testing backups with my NAS and this was so easy to set up, I am speechless! We use it to backup our servers too and even doing an image back up lets us go on and download individual documents for when a user has 'misplaced' something and we don't want to do a full server recovery. Although it does let us do a full recovery too easily using the tool that NinjaOne provide. That has worked well with our vSphere environment and provided a full server image recovery.

I use NinjaOne every day and I honestly would be lost without it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about NinjaOne?

Devices that are offline are shown as unhealthy on the dashboard which I would prefer to not be included in the statistics. It does let me customise other health information though which is good.

I wish I could run patching/scripts on a scheduled basis if its missed, I think this is an upcoming feature.. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is NinjaOne solving and how is that benefiting you?

OS and Software patching and showing at a glance which devices this has failed on, and most importantly for us being able to automate scripts on devices which helps us keep other aspects of the workstations up to date.

I also now have it monitoring my online servers as an uptime monitor to see if they are offline so I can find out before my users tell me.

It is also providing us with backups and I can quickly access them via NinjaOne to download a file a user has mistakenly deleted. There is also an option to do a full image restore which we have been able to do when transferring a broken workstation into a virtual machine which is something we would not have been able to easily do before NinjaOne.

We also use it for MDM to ensure that company owned iPhones are being updated and we can remote wipe them and change passcodes if users forget them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“Atera is a great and affordable RMM tool for IT Professionals and MSPs”
What do you like best about Atera?

Atera is easy to use and easy to deploy. It is a comprehensive tool that includes everything you need for a Managed Services Provider, from remote management and monitoring, remote access via at least 4 methods - splashtop teamviewer screenconnect or anydesk, ticketing, monitoring, automatic alerts, everything a modern RMM needs. Two remote access methods - Splashtop and Screenconnect are availlable directly from Atera. To use Teamviewer or Anydesk you would need to bring your own license. Atera is relatively new so it doesn't have the depth of features that Connectwise has, but what they have the implement well, its a polished experience. Connectwise has some features that Atera does not. But we tend not to use these, and when we have tried them we have found the Connectwise implementation of those special features to be ... clunky.

What Atera does have is well done and well implemented. Costwise at around $189 a month per technician (but not per client or computer) so it can be much more affordable than the competition. Customer support has been good on the few occasions we needed to talk to them. They are fast and able to answer all of our questions. They have an onboarding process that helps you learn the tool. We used this daily in our operations. We used the product for over a year, during which they were working on the AI functions, which just rolled out as an extra subscription. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Atera?

We usually used the Screenconnect Remote Access client. The Splashtop access does not always connect to the remote computer. It often failed so we found ourselves using Screenconnect. We also tried Teamviewer but their method of launching Teamviewer from within Atera is a little clunky.

Their hardware inventory reports leaves something to be desired. It's kind of hard to find, not named in a way that makes it easy to find. It has both too much information and not enough information at the same time - at least in a format that is useful to me. Often times, I would like to just get a summary of Name, CPU, Memory, Drive Size, to be able to tell if I need to replace an older system. Most of the available reports flood me with too much information (pages) that I have to slog through each PC one by one to get the information I need, and then I have to hand assemble that into my own summary that is much more concise.

Atera is a polished, well running experience, but I couldn't help but feel there were a couple things missing. Nothing I could ever exactly put my fingers on as they hit all the basics really well, but it may have just been things that I would only use occasionally. They are constantly adding and improving the product, which is nice. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Atera solving and how is that benefiting you?

We mostly needed remote access (ie, something that ScreenConnect or Teamviewer could provide) to provide remote support to our customers. The extra RMM capabilities where systems can be monitored, alerts given for low disk space, high temperatures, low toner, are nice. Proactive alerts are handy for knowing about potential problems before they become larger. We were small enough not to need the ticketing component, we usually solve problems on the first pass and don't need to track them, but the system to create and track tickets is good and worked well on the few occasions we had to play with it. The reports are handy, and extremely in depth - more than we needed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It is surprisingly very versatile. Being new to the platform, I was worried about ease of use for my team. Since implementing, I've barely had any questions or concerns! Device management is extremely simple. Once devices are managed by Endpoint Management; updates/patch management, deployments, remote access, silent management...all work flawlessly! My next steps are working with the package management and creating images/app packages to deploy. I have no doubt in my mind it will be just as easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“Best Automation Tool: Simple effective and really user-friendly”
What do you like best about Tines?

What I like best about Tines is their incredible support team. They are always fast, helpful, and go above and beyond—at one point I even had a Zoom call with them to solve a specific issue. That level of personalized support really enhanced my experience with the tool. When I first started, I interacted with the support team almost daily, and they consistently provided quick, accurate solutions while also making sure I understood the reasoning behind them.

Another huge advantage of Tines is how much you can accomplish with minimal technical knowledge. Even though I have a computer science background, I find Tines to be much simpler and more effective than other tools I’ve used. It makes automating complex workflows straightforward and accessible, regardless of your skill level.

On top of that, Tines keeps getting better. They’ve integrated AI, which has significantly expanded what you can achieve with the platform. The team is constantly improving the product and rolling out new features, which makes it feel like you’re always working with a cutting-edge tool. This constant innovation, combined with its simplicity and powerful automation capabilities, is why Tines has become one of my absolute favorite platforms. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Tines?

One of the things I dislike about Tines is that when working with run script events, I really miss having a more advanced integrated development environment (IDE). I understand that Tines is not intended to function as a traditional development tool, but having a more robust script editor would be very helpful when building more complex workflows. Features like autocomplete, more advanced syntax highlighting, or better error handling could significantly enhance the experience of writing and debugging code directly within the platform Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Tines solving and how is that benefiting you?

Tines helps us solve the challenge of integrating various tools and platforms into one seamless workflow. We use Tines to connect our messaging platform with other tools, allowing us to centralize communications and actions. For example, we can create comments in external tools directly from our messaging platform, ensuring that everything stays in one place. Additionally, we automate task creation for our teams, assigning tasks through Tines by simply filling out a form. One of the biggest benefits is the ability to generate PDF reports from our tools automatically, eliminating the need for manual report creation.

Tines has also enabled us to integrate and automate workflows between tools that don't have native integrations. This flexibility has significantly improved our efficiency across multiple areas of our work, allowing us to streamline processes, reduce manual tasks, and improve overall productivity. Red Hat Smart Management exhibits strong integration with Red Hat products, which may pose challenges if considering a transition to alternative vendors down the road. Additionally, apart from these overarching concerns, a number of users have expressed criticisms about specific aspects of Red Hat Smart Management:

1.Navigating and utilizing the reporting system can be somewhat challenging. 2.While capable, the performance monitoring features may not match the robustness found in some competing products.

“Very important and appropriate solution for our AWS cloud Environment”
What do you like best about AWS Systems Manager?

Since, Macie covers s3, cloudwatch covers VPC logs, Cloudtrail with api calls within services. There were some limitations within them. Since our infrastructure may be secure, but in case of defense in depth, we should always consider regular patching of EC2, identify unwanted softwares. Who and when it happened. All these should be logged for correlating purpose. System Manager with help of agents and aggregators shows the posture of an OS or an EC2 or running core. The integration is also very simple with other services to make sure security and compliance is in stand. Coming to patch manager, using playbooks were pretty easy and risk free as it could be triggered based on rules. Thanks for such a service. Implementation and support are always available from docs, whitepapers, community etc, . Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about AWS Systems Manager?

Downside is, Overall , in view of compliance sometimes PII uploaded to s3 can be identified with Macie. But when its an image or pdf containing photo copies of such personal sensitive information its hard to identify. It might be stored on the ec2 or s3. But figuring out it is complex. We do have OCR techniques in some services, which can trigger ec2 playbooks. Yes , it can be achievable with right problem solving technique and using the required services. What do you like best about TeamViewer?

I really appreciate TeamViewer, especially for its reliability and ease of use. However, for people less comfortable with computers, the tool can sometimes seem intimidating. It is therefore important to support users and clearly explain how it works. The main difficulty often comes from a lack of understanding of the software's purpose, which can create a mistaken impression that access is permanent. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about TeamViewer?

For people who are not very familiar with computers, installation and getting started can be a challenge. Clear guidance and some additional explanations are sometimes necessary for the experience to be fully positive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is TeamViewer solving and how is that benefiting you?

TeamViewer allows me to help my family and friends remotely, especially to perform security updates or updates from the Microsoft Store. The tool greatly simplifies technical support without the need to travel. Even when users explicitly give me permission to intervene, it can be difficult to explain the concrete benefits to them. Many do not realize that updates — even those automatically deployed by Microsoft — enhance the security and stability of their device. It is therefore important to remind them that they always remain in control: I can only access their computer when they authorize it, and only for the duration of the session. “Complete visibility on network activity”
What do you like best about ExtraHop?

What I like most about ExtraHop is the ability to monitor and analyze all traffic passing through the network. Generally, companies have strong endpoint controls through tools like EDR; however, network is often limited to firewalls with intrusion detection and intrusion prevention rules. Where I find ExtraHop excels is through complete network visibility by mapping assets, learning network traffic and spotting anomalies, and giving Security Operations teams visibility into what is occurring on their network.

ExtraHop is easy to deploy through either and appliance on physical networks our through a virtual appliance in the cloud. The Customer Success teams are deeply knowledgable and provide great support to customers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ExtraHop?

Not a dislike but a feature I would like to see is ExtraHop move towards prevention. Currently, the product is good at identifying and detecting suspicious or malicious activity. Prevention can be achieved through integration with tools but it would be nice to have these native to ExtraHop. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is ExtraHop solving and how is that benefiting you?

Whenever we perform penetration tests, ExtraHop is always the first tool to detect the activity. Often times, the penetration testers will start their campaigns performing reconnaissance and trying to remain stealthy. Because they are not attempting to exploit vulnerabilities at this stage and may be using legitimate system tools, these actions would usually go unnoticed. By inspecting all network traffic, ExtraHop is quick to determine unusual activity on the network host even if it is not a managed device. The network traffic can be inspected by SOC teams and actions can be taken to contain the suspicious device. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“Solid product backed by a very engaged company that wants our input and takes actions on it”
What do you like best about Entuity?

The deployment of ENA has allowed us to retire multiple other products and reduce the number of management IPs we have to configure in SNMP from 7-9 down to just two. Since that initial deployment, we have expanded it's use globally we allowed us to retire an additional 7 tools.

Possibly more than technical side, the relationship we have been able to build with the owners, Park Place, and the level of access to development and their senior leadership team as mean that we continue to get to steer direction on new features in the product to make sure it fits our needs as a service provider. I believe this is the best partnership we have had with any vendor in our history. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Entuity?

The biggest challenge is lack of name recognition as we leverage ENA as part of the services that we provide to our client base. From targeted marketing or more highly visible partnerships, the Entuity name needs more recognition in the IT Network world. They were purchased by Park Place a few years ago which has helped in some areas but not in the area of name recognition in the monitoring space.

One other area of concern, which is likely true with many vendors, but something we didn't used to see with the Entuity folks is they tend to defer instead of just coming out and saying 'no' to some questions. If we are asking for them to support something new that doesn't make sense to them we would appreciate a more open and honest answer. I recently met with their executive team and got those answers that their engineers will no longer provide. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Entuity:

Do a trial and work with the sales engineers. As a hosting company we have a very large and complex network and produces situations that they could not handle. The sales engineers immediately took those to development and in roughly one week we had a custom hot-fix that addressed all of our concerns. And to our delight, all of those changes were included in the GA product release to the public. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Entuity solving and how is that benefiting you?

The biggest has been tool consolidation. When we are supporting a client that is having a performance problem, the ability to go to a single console to see all the network views that we care about (instead of half a dozen different products) goes a long way to reduce the time to resolution. Then on top of that are all the event management rules we can leverage to control unwanted noise and out of the box integration to our preferred enterprise management tool, BMC TrueSight.

Another major gap that we have used Entuity to fill is to have regular backups of network equipment configurations across many brands. There are still some gaps but it is narrowing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I started with a free community edition, which was great for testing. Eventually, I upgraded to the professional edition for daily updates and real-time alerting features. I get it at an affordable price, and I feel it's a solid investment. Low maintenance. Once it's up and running, it just works. It's been running smoothly for over a year with minimal intervention. Clean web interface, I can drill down into device performance, historical graph, and spot trends easily. The good thing is that it can handle and monitor any networking device via SNMP, so it is very easy for our monitoring team to handle multiple types of network devices. I really liked the platform's interface; it was very intuitive when performing integrations. I also appreciate that the documentation is well-structured and offers clear step-by-step guides to facilitate the process. Another strong point is the automatic generation of reports, which saves significant management time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Site24x7?

What I liked least was the volume of alerts received via email, as they were very repetitive. The default thresholds seem to be too sensitive, which generates unnecessary notifications. Additionally, I feel that the minimum requirement of 16 GB of RAM for the probe can be a bit complicated or restrictive depending on the available infrastructure. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Site24x7 solving and how is that benefiting you?

Site24x7 has effectively solved the problem of complex and time-consuming device integrations. In the past, setting up monitoring could be difficult, but the platform's intuitive interface and step-by-step documentation have streamlined the process. This benefits us by significantly reducing the time spent on configuration and allowing us to deploy monitoring across our infrastructure much faster.

Additionally, it has eliminated the burden of manual reporting. The automatic generation of reports ensures we always have up-to-date visibility into system performance without manual effort. This benefits the team by freeing up time to focus on resolving issues rather than gathering data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Adds additional features to (in our case) Azure Environments. easy to understand and enables a repeatable process. Simple integration into existing environments or setup into new environments.

Great savings generated when non 24x7 type of resources are setup. Single pane of glass to view multiple Azure environments that utilize host pools, azure files, servers and networking.

Integrations with multiple identity platforms (even on-prem) for various use cases.

Support is great and helpful. Implementation is quick and simple. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

If not configured correctly, settings applied through Nerdio may conflict with scripts, registry entries, Group Policy Objects, or other policies. While this is largely a user-related issue, having visibility into any downstream overrides would be an extremely useful feature. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Nerdio Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?

Nerdio offers robust yet straightforward configuration options for auto-scaling, which help boost performance and lower costs. The intuitive tools make it easy to automatically stop and start resources that aren't needed around the clock, using different demand criteria. In our experience, this has led to Azure cost reductions ranging from 15% to as much as 80%, depending on the specific use case. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“Genuity has options”
What do you like best about Genuity?

I like the feature crossover from help desk ticking, inventory, and contracts. And the potential to integrate with accounting applications like quickbooks.

I direct IT operations for a nonprofit with less than 50 employees. We work remotely and have no brick-and-mortar offices or software servers. We use Genuity for laptop inventory, Help desk tickets, and to stay up to date on SaaS contracts and renewal dates. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Genuity?

It can't push software to laptops. However, I do understand that it is primarily an accounting tool, that I am using to support a small IT operation and a hint of budgeting.

The price jumped by approx. 400% increase without warning was a shocker. Originally $29 per month, it jumped to $125 per month. Since all our work was already in the system I opted for the annual price of $99 per month Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Genuity solving and how is that benefiting you?

When does each SaaS subscription renew? Genutity sends alerts 60 days before renewal and offers reporting to tell me how much or my beget remains based on renewal dates.

It provides a tool to document technology requests. We use this information to identify devices with chronic issues or staff who may need additional technology training.

Inventory automates the tracking process. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
