Cocktail Party

The look of the platform on mobile and tablets

Groupfie

Panel discussion

The new feature allows for impromptu cocktail parties

How quickly feedback can be turned into action by the RTW team Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Registration process - the ability to capture far more information and clearer instruction during the registration process for attendees

Not being able to have different bank accounts linked to different events

Being able to combine multiple day events into one event

Ability to work with all common web browsers

A better way to get speakers integrated into the platform. I've had issues with speakers receiving the invite email Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Be sure to do walkthroughs with your team and also with all speakers. The practice sessions are important. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The ability to connect with conference communities during the pandemic. The cocktail party feature is a great way to attendees to connect and have a meaningful conversation. I will be using this platform year-round now to keep attendees connected in between face to face events return. When I first contracted with RTW I was thinking of this in the short term as a bridge to a return to f2f events. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

We ran cocktail sessions as part of our networking strategy for Tech Forum Singapore 2020. We had an online platform for networking and we ran a few RTW cocktail sessions. Being a very lean team, the ease of setting up the cocktail session was a major plus (took me under 5 minutes). But the best thing was that we got good feedback after each session. Participants found it fun and engaging, and posted about it! The 5 minutes ensures people talk about what matters and because each chat lasts 5 minutes and you got automatically cut before being paired up with the next person, there are no awkward 'How do I pull myself away' situations. 5 minutes really flies by and is suited even to introverts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

There was nothing that I found wrong with it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Try it Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

People do want to make face to face connections. Even after Covid-19, the RTW cocktail sessions will remain very useful because it allows real interactions, and yet ensures that you meet about 10 people within the hour, without having to talk abut the weather. It's fast, fun and furious, and most of all, meaningful. I am an introvert. Thought it would be useful to say this. Under time constraint, people will talk about what's important. What do you like best?

I am the founder of the Enterprise Sales Forum. Our events were 100% in person and it was a huge value that we provides to our members across our global chapters. When COVID hit, we had to pivot to virtual. We tried other platform but they either lacked the interactivity and engagement, or they simply did not perform. Run The World is both reliable AND has a great platform for networking with their Cocktail Party feature. Plus the interactivity during talks works really well with polls and chat. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

I would love to see a platform that can persist the networking between events. By that, I mean people that chat and connect over the Cocktail Party can continue the conversation between events. That is not as seamless of an experience, but I have heard they are working to address that. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The biggest benefit is that we can have events with networking. This as been a positive experience for our members! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

SETUP

1. Ease of setup - minimum effort required to maintain an external / separate email list, once having those who have followed you in the app.

2. A simple registration URL link is all that is needed to be sent when inviting participants; simple and un-complicated to be an event organiser. Addition of buttons to post / advertise on soc media is a nice add-on.

3. Ease of adding speakers, and their bio's. Everyone gets to create their own; this helps with time & efficiency of getting events together.

THE EVENT

3. Speakers can come 'on' and 'off' stage by switching on or off their video; a really nice touch and replicating the feel of live events (minus the time required to walk on or off stage). This has a lot of potential, esp when introducing special / celebrity guests, where they do not need to be visible until they are introduced.

5. Quick & smooth functions to easily and smoothly "pass the mic" to anyone in the audience who wants to say a few words / ideas to the overall discussion. Their video comes up alongside, when they speak, and then the "mic" can be passed to another. An interesting feature.

NETWORKING

6. smooth transition from a speaking program into networking (1-1) and back to the main 'room', and its on-the fly setup - useful to adjust the number of 'rounds' just before starting the networking session. AND - organisers & speakers get to be involved in the 1-1 as well.

MOBILE APP

7. The handy mobile version of the app provides the organiser quick info about attendees & number of, on-the-go.

POST-EVENT & INSIGHTS

8. At-a-glance reports & post-event insights that make for meaningful measures of engagement.

9. UI & videos comes across nicely; individual videos present better - feels nearer to the person. Audio capture is great; the event recording play-back is great on sound & visual.

10. The chat / group chat function is an interesting way to bring about some conversations before, during and after. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Nothing that I dislike; but there could be improvements.

To have more information that helps a purchasing decision - such as the specific feature-function at each level of pricing. eg: for creating multiple parallel rooms? Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

One the biggest challenges is to create communities and have continuing conversations around ideas - such as the kind of work that those who are consultants, researchers, coaches, community leaders, visioneers, master-mind groups, thought-leaders, etc would be doing.

What is needed is to have tools that help these professions to create invested relationships vs having more of the transactional relationships. It is challenging having to to find ways to 'continue' conversations when having to organise / think / plan event-to-event .

I think RTW is on the way to being able to resolve these kind of issues - ie: to offer a way for continuous engagement. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Run The World brings people from all over the world to collaborate and communicate with diverse cultures, knowledge and values. Different experiences add value otherwise not possible from one's own experience. Truly love the community and the energy and fun it creates. Virtual assistants add value to the engagement with their experiences running virtual events. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

The only downside to any virtual event is the physical contact and direct engagement thru a shared space and location. However, the ability to connect diverse locations which is otherwise not possible outweighs the down side. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

You should definitely give the platform a try at least once and find out if you get hooked on to it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I would say Run The World advances collaboration and exchange of ideas. Truly allows us to realize the potential of diverse range of talent and use them to make this world a better place. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Run the World has a very fluid interaction model. If you want to break out of the typical presenter-heavy approach, then RtW could be right for you. Participants in the audience can "grab the mic" and ask to come up "on stage" at any time. While it's tempting to use this feature for Q&A, I like to invite audience participants up to join the conversation for a while. They can step up, stay in the middle of the conversation, or step back, like in a real F2F social gathering.

The other killer feature is Cocktail Party which has been likened to speed dating. As with Grab the Mic, you can use it an any time. It's clearly intended for for one-on-one networking, but I also use it to have break-out discussions of whatever the topic being discussed might be. Together with Grab the Mic, Cocktail party enables a very organic conversation that is unlike any other platform I've used. It's heavily social rather than broadcast.

The last major feature I'll highlight is the built-in registration and messaging of attendees. The site largely does a lot of the setup for you in a very easy wizard-style interface. This isn't unique, but it is particularly well done. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

RtW wants to be a social platform but it has not quite achieved that in all areas yet. I'd like to be able to have a weekly event in which people don't have to register separately every time, and I'd also like to have rich messaging among participants between events. The company says it is working on these features. Assuming they are as well done as the rest of the platform, I'll be very happy with it.

Also, word of warning: RtW is not really a direct Zoom competitor. If you're looking to compare it feature-by-feature to major webconferencing platforms, it probably won't come up on top. But I believe that's becomes it is creating a new product category of social synchronous platforms and doesn't fit well into the webconferencing/webinar category. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I'm trying to create a community of my customers and prospects as well as to build brand awareness. Having a social platform, where it's not just me and some guests talking at the audience, has been useful. I'm still early in my experiments, but so far so good. What do you like best?

Run the World is a great platform for hosting online events, simple to use and easy to setup up different type of events. It has a cool vibe to it, simple works, without having to install any kind of app, directly from your browser. Video is high quality and stable. I have been using heavily the "virtual cocktail" event type, and it's truly a refreshing experience. There's barely any configuration to do for visitors of your events, which makes the experience very smooth.

I also enjoy that I can set up an event with an agenda, with different slots in the schedule, even allowing to mix "event types". Which allows us to for instance to host a talk followed by a networking moment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

I wish there was so more information about the "virtual cocktail" matching algorithm, because some of my event participants where asking about it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

During uncertain times, we need bold and visionary leaders more than ever. We had the honor of hosting a fireside chat with Xiaoyin Qu, founder and CEO of Run The World and a cocktail networking party using RTW on behalf of JPMorgan Chase & Co. women's network recently. Run the World is an excellent online events platform that facilitates meaningful engagements, especially between like-minded strangers. It's perfect for community organizers who want to bring people together.

Good is the enemy of great. While people are getting used to remote culture using video conference tools like Zoom, we appreciate ambitious, visionary leaders like Xiaoyin who dare to #reimagine how humans connect on a deeper level online even more. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

I had a great experience with Hannah Shen, who was really helpful throughout the entire process of preparing for and launching the symposium. Having everything you need for a symposium in the same platform including ticket sales, customizable event page graphics and more was also helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

It was really easy to use, you can add all of the speakers in and it makes everything clear and separated. I really liked that you can create an agenda and create different types of sections for one event. I really love that it has everything you need in one platform. They will even set everything for paid tickets. Also the staff are super friendly and really accommodating. If there is anything you need help on or something isn't clear, they will fix it for you immediately. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Before I say the things I don't like, I want to consider that this is a new platform and I have been overall very impressed.

I don't love that you have to click back into a group once the last one has ended and the video quality sometimes wasn't the best. But this is good if you only want to join a specific part of an event. Also, the free version doesn't provide you with the attendee's emails.

Also there is a signal on the page that tells you when you only have a few minutes left for the section, but the first time it happened I wasn't sure if it was going to shut off or you can go over the time. So for new users be aware that you can still run over the designated time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The problem with zoom is that you either see everyone even if there are only a few people talking or you cant engage with anyone and just see the people talking. Run The World is the closest thing I have found to recreating an interaction like a face to face event. You have different types of sections and even a cocktail hour portion. Before I officially set up the conference, I thought the process would be very cumbersome and painful. No, it’s not. Run the World’s platform very easy to use. It is very simple to add speakers, update fliers and publish the events. It now has the cocktail party mode, where you can virtually meet and talk to people within the conference. Even in real conference, it is hard to talk to a stranger. This feature makes meeting people very easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Not sure if this has changed but initially Run the World doesn’t allow panel mode. Only two people can speak at the same time. Panel discussion was not possible. If this is still the case, hopefully it can be added at some point. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

It was easy to set up an account and then begin using the platform. I attended a 1 hour virtual networking session and had a seamless experience where I was matched with 1 person every 5 minutes as per the event setup. I did not experience any problems or lag during each of these sessions. It was also helpful to see each person's brief tagline (just in Linkedin) so that I could start a conversation around what each of them did in their jobs. Also, the chat function allowed people to send across contact details to follow up on our conversations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

I wish there was more purposeful matching, such as the ability to type in interests and match people. Also, I would like better integration with Linkedin as we had to manually connect outside of the platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
