Elecronic medical record (EMR) software is used by medical professionals to track patient data over time. The software stores patient information that used to be on paper charts, things like treatment history or prescriptions, digitally. In addition to tracking patient data, EMRs also allow doctors to identify when patients need checkups, monitor patient vital signs, and improve the overall quality of care. EMRs should not be confused with Electronic Health Records (EHR) despite their similarities. EHRs have the same functionality as EMRs, but they cover a broader range of functionality by connecting the entire healthcare experience. So, in addition to storing standard clinical data, they share information with other health care providers like laboratories and specialists. So, the main distinction between an EMR and an EHR is an EMR will not allow the patient data to travel outside of the practice which it was captured, whereas EHRs allow sharing of information across providers.

CarePatron has been a game-changer for my practice from day one. What do you dislike about Carepatron?

The only thing I dislike is a recent change in the calendar workflow. I used to be able to click directly on the client’s name in the calendar and go straight into the video appointment. About four weeks ago that changed, and now I have to click on the appointment, hit edit, then send, and only then can I get into the video session. It is not a deal breaker at all, but it does add extra steps to something that used to be very simple. If they bring back the ability to join the video call just by clicking the client’s name in the calendar, the experience would be absolutely perfect for me, because I truly love the rest of the program and how easy everything else is to use. What do you like best about ModMed?

I find ModMed incredibly useful for quickly reviewing patient charts, which is essential in my dermatology practice. The ease of chart review, especially using the visual body feature, allows me to efficiently assess and compare patient photos from previous to current visits. This capability is particularly valuable as it provides on-the-fly information, which is crucial when I'm out of the office and need to reference patient records. I love the integration with Apple devices, enhancing my interaction and accessibility with the software. The ability to create stickies for counseling and recommendations facilitates efficient documentation and communication, streamlining my workflow significantly. What do you dislike about ModMed?

I find incorporating attachments into ModMed cumbersome, and embedding them directly into the chart for consultants is not as seamless as I would like. The lack of a hyperlink feature within the body of notes to link directly to corresponding photos or written impressions adds unnecessary complexity to workflow. I also feel that the area reserved for important patient details like allergies, blood thinner use, and other critical information is not prominently displayed, which could improve through a more visible interface. The absence of color-coding for different types of visits also reduces the clarity in the schedule and could enhance organization. Searching for other HISP direct mail users and their addresses isn't as intuitive as expected. It would be beneficial if ModMed could support dot phrases similar to those in Epic, allowing for more efficient shorthand note-taking. The limited functionality of native phrases in EMA, and the inability to copy or utilize phrases from others, further restricts efficiency. Lastly, the transition to using ModMed was made difficult by the lack of adequate time with experts. One of the things I appreciate most about EHR Your Way is how much it continues to grow and improve. Every few months, something gets easier, more intuitive, or more streamlined. The whole system feels like it’s evolving with us, which makes our workday flow so much better.

It’s also budget-friendly — a huge plus for a nonprofit clinic like ours. We get the tools we need without the overwhelming cost that comes with a lot of other EHR systems. And their support team? Honestly, they have stepped up big time. They respond quicker and genuinely try to help, which makes a world of difference when we are juggling client care and admin tasks. What do you dislike about EHR Your Way?

There are a few spots where EHR Your Way could still improve. The inbox can feel a bit messy — having options to sort or organize messages into folders would make communication much easier to manage.

I would also love to see more client payment options directly through CMS, like PayPal, Zelle, or Venmo. That would remove a barrier for many of our clients who don’t always use traditional payment methods.

A little more flexibility for administrators to edit forms would also be amazing. Clinics evolve, insurance requirements shift, and being able to adjust our forms without going through support would save time and headaches.

And because we work with interns, having built-in prompts or reminders in the assessments, notes, and treatment documentation would be incredibly helpful for training and consistency.

EHR Your Way helps us keep our clinic organized without a ton of manual work. It has made charting, scheduling, and general workflow much more efficient. For a small nonprofit, having everything in one place — and not needing to rely on several different programs — really saves time and reduces stress.

The biggest benefit is that it supports the way we work. It doesn’t feel like we have to force our clinic into someone else’s rigid system. EHRYW helps us stay organized, keeps our costs manageable, and frees up more of our time for actual client care instead of chasing down paperwork.

What do you like best about Zanda (formerly Power Diary)?

What I appreciate most about Zanda is its intuitive navigation. Being able to access invoices directly from the calendar to process payments is especially convenient, as it eliminates the need to open invoices in a separate window, like with other systems. I also value the option to be remembered at login, since I use Zanda several times a day, and not having to repeatedly log in streamlines my workflow.

I find it very straightforward to make necessary changes in the back end, such as updating templates, without having to seek approval from Zanda. This flexibility really allows me to tailor the system to my needs. Additionally, the in-app knowledge base and help function are very useful for resolving common issues on my own. When I do require assistance, the support team is always accessible and helpful.

Billing & Hours = More Headaches

While Opus has made some processes smoother, billing therapists and tracking hours has actually gotten trickier. What used to be simple now takes a bit more clicking, guessing, and double-checking.

Calendar Learning Curve

The online calendar has a unique style—which is a nice way of saying it took a minute (or several) to get the hang of. Once we adjusted, it was manageable, but the transition wasn’t exactly intuitive.

Insurance & Billing Setup Woes

Unfortunately, the initial setup by the Opus team missed the mark. Insurance and billing info was entered incorrectly, which meant we had to go in and manually fix client details ourselves—not exactly the time-saver we were hoping for.

However, the OPUS team has been superb in making sure our questions have been answered, our needs were met, and our "needs a little work moments" were as few as possible. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Opus solving and how is that benefiting you?

Opus is helping streamline a lot of the daily admin tasks that used to eat up time and energy. Things like and using the chat feature are now way more efficient and accessible. Integrated systems - Leads, Online bookings, Pabau Go mobile app for ipads.Flow throughs for patient pathways. Automated systems. Customer tickets to report issues and how quickly they get resolves, The more I use the system on a daily basis the more i get from the Pabau system, just sending a marketing email on broadcast is very easy. Implementing is easy with xero and other apps, follow this up with ticketed customer support that get actioned quickly 24/7 it is amazing.

As a speech pathologist, data is key. I love that I see the goals each time I open a note for my session. I love that I can add both a percentage as well as some clarifying notes. I love that there is goal button both on the note and on the appointment so I can look at a graph of when we worked on each goal, see the progression over time and plan my session. This is extremely helpful in a busy practice. It is very easy to schedule and I like that I can prest things, I can set different appointment types and I can color code them! Being a visual person, I love that I can differentiate what appointment is an evaluation, a meeting or a therapy session quickly and easily! I looked at many programs and this one fit all the things that I wanted. In addition, they have been very helpful and I am always able to get a quick answer to any questions that I have and my questions have always been answered quickly and in a way that makes it easy to figure out what to do! What do you dislike about Fusion by Ensora Health?

I would like to see group billing. I provide services to a school and it would be nice to put all the invoices under one payer/header to make it a little easier but I may just not have found the way to do this as of yet. What problems is Fusion by Ensora Health solving and how is that benefiting you?

I needed a solution that had everything in one place. I wanted to be able to have my schedule, keep my notes and evaluations, bill private pay and bill insurance but in an organized and easy way and this was the only option that I found that met all my needs. The biggest selling point was the ability to collect data and see graphs showing me when the goal was worked on and be able to see the progression over time. What do you like best about CampDoc?

CampDoc is the closets program I have seen to do what is necessary for information gathering and reporting that is necessary for camp than any other software. If you are looking for a point of sale program like Camp Brain, then that is the way to go. If you use Daxko for camp and need an information gathering system, CampDoc is your program! What do you like best about ECP?

ECP is very user friendly for both staff, administrators, and HR. Our implementation process had it's troubles but I recieved awesome support. Our implementation Specialist, Nick Munden gave quick responses, had amazing attetion to detail, and really went above and beyond in several ways. We use ECP daily for all of our EMAR needs. ECP has tons of features that really allow you to customize it to fit your communites needs. When we switched to ECP getting everyone familiar to a new system took some training but overall the integration process was not too labor intensive. Our staff were able to catch on quickly to this. What do you dislike about ECP?

ECP could improve the bowel monitoring process. There is not really anything in place currently to be able to quickly see who has not had a BM in x amount of days. This would be a huge benfit to our staff and residents. Additionally a "911 quick print" button would be very helpful for emergency situations. What do you like best about NexHealth?

I love how the Support Team are very attentive and address all of your concerns very quickly and in a timely manner. There is no issue that goes unresolved. Plus, their platform is just one you cannot forget about-- it's super easy to maneuver around and if you are not the most tech-savvy person, then NexHealth's platform is the one to highly consider. Messages/Text to patients are like an Email format, where you see their name in a bubble, and the huge message history opens up, including the automated ones sent.

Their 'Home' button has all your patients listed for the day in order of the time they are arriving for their appointments. You can easily take payment from the Home screen, see if their insurance was verified, to quickly turn on/off the Review toggle and Reminders. It's really all there and SUPER simple.

Their Insurance Verification feature is TOP NOTCH! When I say, their Insurance Breakdown form is organized, it's VERY organized-- I can tell that someone who used to work in Dental field helped plan this breakdown because it's straight to the point and you see the information you quickly want to see first. Comparing Dentrix's insurance breakdown form w/ NexHealth, NexHealth is our absolute favorite! It's just pleasant to the eye and super easy to read.

Now, our absolute favorite feature is the Waitlist-- you have that one week where the Hygiene schedule is just falling apart w/ more than 10 cancellations, the Waitlist feature will be your savior by sending out a blast to all your patients who are waiting to get in sooner for a cleaning, or any appt, and the patient who selects the new appointment first will automatically be book! NexHealth will add the appt for you in your PMS; the entire feature is like a lottery and it's fun to watch those holes get filled up while all you did was click a couple of buttons, instead of calling patients one-by-one... SAVING YOU LOTS OF TIME! WE LOVE IT!

Lastly, their Payment feature is one of a kind. You can send a patient an automated text w/ their balance and the reason (service) of why they have a balance. In other words, it will show their balance is coming from an uncovered Exam, so they easily remit payment and saves you a phone call from the patient asking 'why'. You also see your A/R in a list and with a click of a button, you can send out a blast to many patients who have balances-- especially the younger crowd who prefer a bill electronically instead of paper. For the older generation, it plays out well, but many like paper, so you find that it works well for them, too, as they see it twice: a email/text and one in the mail. Once they receive the one in the mail, they are calling you to remit payment, no questions asked. It has made it simple in many ways and very easy for everyone to adjust.

In all, NexHealth has advanced in many ways to make it easier for the Front Desk staff, and practice, to have a much more easier and convenient way of running a dental practice-- especially with our PMS. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
