**What do you like best about Sitecore Digital Experience Platform?**

i like to customize the experience platform so i can create tools to be used internally on my company that fit our very needs. i can have the functionality separated and organized in a cool way and i don't need to struggle having it all shattered away.

**What do you dislike about Sitecore Digital Experience Platform?**

maybe the lack of technical guides to describe the functionality so i must often struggle to make it work however i want. sometimes the documentation is not very specific or the customers doesn't face the same issues so often or never so i have to find out what are the best approaches to get the stuff working the way i actually want. the slack community sometimes help but i think there should be a better way to get stuff documented. because there are also known issues that are only that, and doesn't seem to have a real solution.

you have a lot stuff to work with but doesn't need to use everything from the beginning you can go from something simple and go up from there.

**What do you like best about Sitecore Digital Experience Platform?**

Sitecore has everything you need to help build a customized content management system for your enterprise-level web operations. The functionality of Sitecore was created with scalability, localization and personalization in mind.

**What do you dislike about Sitecore Digital Experience Platform?**

It definitely requires a dedicated partner or a deep level of internal Sitecore-certified developer resources to not only implement but also maintain. So prepare your budget and projects with that in mind. While some things come out of the box, there is a lot of customization that needs to be done to get it to your level of expectations.

**Recommendations to others considering Sitecore Digital Experience Platform:**

Prepare your budget with licensing both for implementation and maintenance. Also consider ongoing service and support which may be needed. If you have a large database of content, consider an indexing application beyond SOLR. Also, do your homework on the SOLR-to-Server-MongoDB-to-ZooKeeper architecture.

**What problems is Sitecore Digital Experience Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have solved very complex problems for the business where previously it was a much more manual process OR involved multiple integrations. We've been able to launch an ecommerce, global website that operates 24/7. We've also been able to connect data from downstream IT systems through to marketing-owned systems with Sitecore - this helps us serve our customers better and makes our jobs more efficient.

Sitecore is a great platform for Enterprise. We have multi-lingual, multi-regional website and Sitecore gives the flexibility and ability to manage out digital assets.

There is a learning curve and would require dedicated resources to get most out of the platform.

Managing global website with multiple brand brings out its own challenges. Using Sitecores module function we are able to reduce content fragment and re purpose is across all our website.

**What do you like best about Sitecore Digital Experience Platform?**

Sitecore really lets you customize the underlying code to a degree that makes it a product for any situation. Having a little bit of knowledge of the pipelines goes a long way as we just successfully fully integrated with our own inhouse custom code. Being a shop that runs Sitefinity as well that is a huge win for us.

**What do you dislike about Sitecore Digital Experience Platform?**

Upgrade process seemed difficult with the documentation available at the time. Now with the new docs website a lot of those headaches are no longer an issue but something we'll be looking for first before jumping to 10.

**Recommendations to others considering Sitecore Digital Experience Platform:**

In house installs need more support. A large amount of support for AZure but not as supported without.

**What problems is Sitecore Digital Experience Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A marketing department that needs to be able to change sites on the fly without the headaches of dealing with IT getting in the way.

Sitecore can just about do anything you want it to do. There's a great deal of capabilities, APIs, and ways of linking in additional capabilities and platforms. It's powerful, can be quick, customizable, and can have personalization options.

**What do you dislike about Sitecore Digital Experience Platform?**

You absolutely can't implement this yourself. You'll need a partner. It's also got an extremely steep learning curve - it does not look, feel, or function like any other CMS you're familiar with.

What are your specific needs of your CMS? What is your budget for implementation? Do you have in-house support capabilities? Who will own and manage it?

We needed a CMS that was powerful, scalable, and integrates within our current marketing technology stack. It also need to be usable worldwide, and integrate with translation services.

Implementation is critical, and will vary widely depending on the development team and their experience. Despite being proprietary it is open ended and it's up to you what's in the box.

Make sure to have dedicated resources to support implementation, because sitecore is a unique beast and takes some learning curve to execute best practices.

Solving the IT and Marketing pipeline for our digital experiences for healthcare members in Arizona. We've realized a much quicker content creation to delivery timeline, which is important in Healthcare where many of our public marketing outlets are highly regulated extending timelines due to reviews from legal bodies.

**What do you like best about Sitecore Digital Experience Platform?**

Sitecore is metadata heavy. It is great because you can reuse content across an enterprise in using different pieces of the metadata of an item. I like that content can be housed in one central location but linked to various pages in an enterprise. It makes it easy to reuse images and content. I am so glad that Sitecore has added SXA to the platform. It will be a great asset for content editors. I am looking forward to exploring the new features of Sitecore 9.

**What do you dislike about Sitecore Digital Experience Platform?**

There isn't a lot of documentation for free. There are not a lot of friendly tutorials or resources online that make it friendly for users who have little back end coding experience. In previous versions the content editor was the only way for content to be added to a site. I am so glad that this has been corrected.

I hope that Sitecore will allow our content to be shared easily and reused across sites with ease.

**What do you like best about Sitecore Digital Experience Platform?**

Component library that allows editors to create responsive and goal oriented pages. While creating variants of components can sometimes be difficult, they really allow the content authors to be their own developers, strategically place calls to action based on specific campaigns at the breakpoints we know users are using most often.

**What do you dislike about Sitecore Digital Experience Platform?**

Sitecore does have its fair share of issues. Creating components can be difficult and without regular updates, may cause problems for developed components later. Authors are sometimes forced to remove components or use flat text because they have exceeded too many.

**What problems is Sitecore Digital Experience Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have been able to make our content authors consultants using the platform. Using advanced variant features and unauthenticated personalization, we have been able to deliver additional tools to our marketing team to help them achieve their strategic goals. The ability to create a personal experience without having an identity management system allowed digital teams to move forward, experiment and show proof of concept on the value to the customer.

**What do you like best about Sitecore Digital Experience Platform?**

Sitecore is a very customizable and extensible platform with a very dynamic community. It is also constantly innovating and improving itself.

**What do you dislike about Sitecore Digital Experience Platform?**

Sitecore is a very complex product, so it might not be necessary for everyone. There are some very interesting features in Sitecore, but they do come with a cost of resource usage, performance, or maintenance. What is painful is usually not the technology itself, but all the governance and teaching that is required to use it in a good way.

**What problems is Sitecore Digital Experience Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We mainly develop projects for corporate clients that have needs to improve their website and go through digital transformation. We often have cases of multi-site, multi-language, mobile responsive, secure and accessible solutions that also integrate with other third party software and services. All of them want a good experience for their customers but also their content creators. Not all are mature enough for the personalization step yet but it is definitely something they all want in the long term.

**What do you like best about Sitecore Digital Experience Platform?**

Honestly I am not qualified to write a formal review at current stage, as we are just at the POC stage of implementation Sitecore as the new CMS solution in our product, that's the reason I give a Neutral rate (no good or no better at this point from my point of view, not product). We had XP1 installation and development training. Few things I find good about Sitecore are: 1) It seems pretty easy to create and publish content and content structure 2) The multiple sites and versioning and multi-language support 3) If using .Net framework to build the layout, it seems pretty straightforward 4) The personalization capability seems very promising.

**What do you dislike about Sitecore Digital Experience Platform?**

The whole Sitecore seems lag in the headless offering. The installation, deployment, and scalability seem kind of having too much complexity. As it could involve a lot of database instances, search indexes to scale, it only resides in Windows environment, not flexible in custom integration, not easy to containerize, etc. The JSS as the web service offering is still a big question mark in my mind.

We are mainly to use Sitecore XP as the new CMS over existing open source CMS (Drupal), so far we are still in POC stage, so no real benefits have been realized yet.

**What do you like best about Sitecore Digital Experience Platform?**

The flexibility of the system and all the possibilities with the technology. As an architect, it's a joy when business comes to me with a problem for the website, and I reply that Sitecore can do it. We have set up 2 different versions of Sitecore now with lots of different sites, and each time it's more to learn and great experiences with a site that has the WOW factor that business was proud of.

**What do you dislike about Sitecore Digital Experience Platform?**

I would like more of a distributed system with content management. I have a lot of teams around the world and I need to provide the same scaled performance for them that the content delivery for the website offers.

Give it a chance, this platform can truly flex in the direction that you want it to go.

**What problems is Sitecore Digital Experience Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Distributed content and images via the website. A site that loads in under 3 seconds around the world. Has the stability that even if a whole Cloud Data Center goes down, my sites still stay up and fully functional.

**What do you like best about Sitecore Digital Experience Platform?**

The platform represents a 15-year market-leading position among any competitive platforms. Sitecore has not relied on legacy, but in recent years has been able to reinvent, develop, or enter into tech partnerships that collectively increase the total value of using Sitecore and being part of the Sitecore ecosystem.

**What do you dislike about Sitecore Digital Experience Platform?**

Sitecore, even with all the developer tools, SXA, SIF, SIA, and stuff, still requires a high initial investment to implement and it is a complex journey with several pitfalls and drawbacks, which just take time and resources. However, the investment in Sitecore will benefit customers who believe in dynamic development and optimization.

Ask for a presentation where both Sitecore and your digital agency attend. This makes the realistic picture of what you can expect in the future much clearer to you.

We can drive customer experience more maturely and controlled than with any other platform. We also have great advantages of Sitecore for complex organizations which leverage the many opportunities to manage the use for editors and backend users.

**What do you like best about Sitecore Digital Experience Platform?**

I like how comprehensive all of the features are for the platform and the ability to connect to all of your professional applications. It is clear that this is for mid to large companies that want to make the digital experience core to their strategy.

**What do you dislike about Sitecore Digital Experience Platform?**

How developer-necessary the platform is in order to enable all of the functionality. I understand that you will always need to invest additional time and resources to get the most out of any tech investment, but it seems that a lot of these features could be a bit more OOTB or Sitecore-directed implementation and that partners/developers would be needed to really customize and extend the platform, not just to get you up an running. We are still stuck with a system that really only operates as a CMS and that is due to a poor partner decision.

**What problems is Sitecore Digital Experience Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have A LOT of content and we service many different industries and services. We are using Sitecore XP to deliver that content to all of the relevant audiences and create recirculation opportunities for our content based on content-type, industry/service tags, etc. We have also used it to help connect multiple separate sites on the platform for a more cohesive experience.

**What do you like best about Sitecore Digital Experience Platform?**

I like using Sitecore for content management because it's so extensible. You get a lot out of the box but you can extend it with custom code. There are multiple modules available to developers which allow developers to leverage existing work without rebuilding the wheel. The personalization rules engine is very powerful. It's easy enough for business users and marketing users to use without always having to go back to a developer to edit and publish and content. The new hub and desktop interface was a big improvement over the previous version.

**What do you dislike about Sitecore Digital Experience Platform?**

I try to avoid using the Experience Editor. For my role I like using the Content Editor as its a better interface. I have seen the same color palette for 10 years I really don't want to look at it anymore, I am told they are changing it up this year.

**What problems is Sitecore Digital Experience Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sitecore is much easier to use than other platforms I have used. Years ago I used other competitors platforms and their user interface was a disaster.

The flexibility for implementation. Coding is really easy when you know how to do it. Product documentation is really good and finding solutions to questions is easy through the Sitecore portal.

The platform is slow and it uses a lot of resources. Final users always complain how slow the platform is. They also say that most of the time they had a hard time finding solutions for their different problems within the tool and ask for customized options.

Verify that whoever is implementing your solution knows Sitecore and your business really well. Try to find a partner who is big enough to give you time and provide you solutions to your problems but small enough to take care of you and your implementation.

Implementing it is easy and can be used for any type of business. In order to provide better performance we are growing horizontally and bought cloud options which provide faster responses.

**What do you like best about Sitecore Digital Experience Platform?**

Sitecore's content tree is simple for most people to learn and use quickly. Experience editor is also intuitive and fairly easy for new users to pick up.

**What do you dislike about Sitecore Digital Experience Platform?**

When Sitecore releases new features they consistently over promote their capabilities. The use of Azure was a recent pain point. The recommended sizes for the servers were drastically under what was actually reasonable to use. Some features such as cloning, when used as directed by available documentation, have many downstream performance impacts especially on the CM when editing the clone source. There wasn't much documentation around the limitation of cloning and we've struggled to work around the performance issues. These have been recent issues, but there have been others and it culminates into people in the community not trusting initial releases, and myself not trusting much of the marketing material we hear from Sitecore.

**What problems is Sitecore Digital Experience Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Many of the problems we're solving revolve around content delivery at scale, which is the backbone of Sitecore. The most interesting thing that I've worked with is personalization. It's great for targeting audiences that have a history on the site. It's also very easy to train content editors and marketers to use. As a developer, it's pretty easy to work with and customize, which is great for meeting clients' specific business needs.

**What do you like best about Sitecore Digital Experience Platform?**

From a developer stand point, I am able to quickly develop new features and functionality. The flexibility is great. From an authoring stand point, The content authoring process we use is highly customized and has been easy to work with. We have some fairly complex workflows and the system has been able to handle all of them. We have about 100+ workflows in the system. The ability to manage permissions on the workflows so only the appropriate users have access to them has been good. I have worked with your support staff a lot and they have been great to deal with

**What do you dislike about Sitecore Digital Experience Platform?**

The upgrades have been very painful. We are upgrading from version 8.2 to 9.2 and have encountered some challenges. We have a very secure environment and the upgrade scripts do not work in our environment. We've had to make some customizations to them.

Make sure to look at a partner. Partners can drastically help time to deploy

The best part of Sitecore is that the platform enables marketing with the ability to deliver the personalized experiences our customers are looking for without the need for developers or technology.

Sitecore Analytics seems to be very difficult to get up and running with the necessary event tagging and filtering that need be configured by the development team. We have been very interested in using the Sitecore Marketing features, but haven't been able to get the baseline analytics working how we would like.

For enterprise, global, or large scale companies, SiteCore is an incredible tool. SiteCore promotes synergy between teams as you can have multisite domains managed in one place. Using the content tree, while it takes a bit of getting used to, makes management of complex websites easy for marketing users.

SiteCore's User Interface can increase is usability. You are too often navigated away from places or items you need when assembling pages.

I love the flexibility that comes with the Sitecore editing experience. As a developer I'm able to easily leverage C# MVC to create powerful components that meet all of my client's needs.

I wish search was easier to set up and customize. Out-of-the-box Sitecore comes powered with solr, but creating custom indexes is a pain. Also, it would be nice if there was an option to have the search engine crawl pages in their entirety like google or other search engines do.

We've converted several sites from difficult-to-manage and slow-performing CMS's over to Sitecore, which allow easy editing, workflow and also much improved performance thanks to Sitecore's caching engine.

**What do you like best about Sitecore Digital Experience Platform?**

Sitecore's data model, roles and permissions. Sitecore is realizing important integration points and continues to respond by building and providing them out of the box. For example, integration with Salesforce. Sitecore data model and API's also enable a wide array of possibilities and integrations. While Sitecore's analytics is not mature enough (I have seen version 8, not version 9 yet) but have heard that analytics in version 9 is quite mature. We still use Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager.

**What do you dislike about Sitecore Digital Experience Platform?**

Pricing. Performance of Experience Editor. More importantly, it seems that some partner company implementations do not meet Sitecore's own guidelines and best practices and will cause pain during version upgrades. Version upgrade is a huge effort mostly due to inclusion of external components that seem to be lacking out of the box.

Using the Experience Editor to make alterations to the website like an interactive CMS. The features of the experience platform can be added to extend this functionality to make a holistic customer experience that is tailored to the views of the customer which would increase their interactions with the site and the company brand.

The learning curve is pretty huge for a new developer or even a marketing person to pickup and utilize quickly. Some of this is the developer's making things difficult but seems like there is little printed documentation to make the initial learning structure of new persons working in the system.

I like the full marketing portal and experience profile that is continuing to be built out. I also like the granularity that we are able to create goals, campaigns and taxonomies throughout the setup for more automation and leveraging greater efficiencies.

**What do you like best about Sitecore Digital Experience Platform?**

It provides OOB features for creating multilingual and multidomain websites with ease of managing digital content and personalizing the site. It offers OOB analytics features to track end user behavior and email experience managers to engage with users and for running promotions. Sitecore provides Custom indexing feature using SOLR, Lucene, and Azure for site-wide search and OOB internal search with language options. It offers customization for multi-domain and multilingual sites with language versioning options. Sitecore EXM has features like customer campaigning and triggering email on basis of action completion.

**What do you dislike about Sitecore Digital Experience Platform?**

There is nothing much to dislike about Sitecore. Only thing I would like to mention is that some of the features may cause slowness to CMS over a period of time which can be minimized by upgrading infrastructure.

If you want to develop a website with a common platform and customized content for different countries in their localized language, Sitecore is the best product for you which offers a highly scalable enterprise-level platform. In addition to CMS, Sitecore provides OOB integrated features like email experience manager, Marketing control panel, custom indexing for site-wide search, and more.

It provides such a platform so that business users and content authors can easily update and manage content on the site. The marketing control panel gives access to track active users of the site and their behavior. My production team likes the ease of in building content through the Content Editor. It is easy to map components, and to hook into plug-ins like Smartling and Brightcove.

**What do you dislike about Sitecore Digital Experience Platform?**

The opportunity of Sitecore Experience Platform is massive, however complexities with my team's deployment makes the Experience Platform inconsistent. We fall back on mapping page components in the presentation details. In progress pages are reviewed as pages in a browser, instead of using the in-context preview feature of Experience Editor. Our development team worries about performance issues inherent with xDB and we are not fully realizing the tool's opportunity.

The Experience Editor is easy to use and modify for the content authors. Sitecore provides a lot of flexibility and customization. But with that it can make implementation harder because the options are unlimited. Workflow should be easier to implement.

I like how easy it is to handle the management of content, especially the multi-language support. When configured correctly, Sitecore is easy to work with for both developers and content managers.

Sitecore can be intimidating when you first start working with it. This is true for both developers and content editors. Sitecore can be a bit of a blank slate that requires you to design the code and content layout without much of a template to begin with. I love how extensible Sitecore is. As a developer/architect, the ability to customize and/or replace any part of Sitecore is absolutely amazing. I can write my own pipeline or processor to fit any of my client's business needs. And the community is so supportive and informative. The community and online resources have saved my day on a regular basis.

As a developer I love that Sitecore does a lot of the groundwork when creating a platform where a content editor can achieve their content and marketing goals.

**What do you dislike about Sitecore Digital Experience Platform?**

During the last couple of years we repeatedly found that some industry standard platforms were not supported so we had to do it ourselves. I did not like to tear our solution for that problem out when it does not play nicely with the solution that eventually is chosen by Sitecore when it is implemented. Upgrading is tedious.

We use Sitecore to develop a multilingual site with personalization. We use personalisation to be able to filter out various upgrades based on availability or personalise a confirmation page. And all we have to do is adding some conditions.

I like the componentization aspect of Sitecore. It's interesting to me as a developer but I started out as a Web Production employee just making content updates. I think Sitecore is very user friendly - especially if devs understand how to develop for the Experience Editor!

I found the setup for upgrade to Sitecore 9.0 pretty crazy compared to the previous installations - way too many manual updates for pre-requisites etc - I'm taking the 9.0 dev course right now and finally made it through the installation process - there should be a cert just for that step!

Our organization has been using Sitecore for the last 7 years and we have upgraded twice and are now going to move up to 9.2. This is the most exciting upgrade for the marketing team because of the ease of the digital personalization. There is a learning curve for content authors but once they are in the system for a few times, it becomes much easier.

**What do you dislike about Sitecore Digital Experience Platform?**

The Sitecore system is somewhat complex for Personalization... with the profiles, pattern cards, goals, campaigns. It takes someone who has been through the journey to help you through it. This software and server set-up is also expensive - (but worth it).

We are able to granularly assign permissions to 480+ content authors across 14k+ pages which allows for unit-specific users to champion their content; as they know it best. We've customized workflow to allow a "central" review process to aid in the adherence to our company style guide and standards.

While this is super helpful to our organization, it often feels heavy when "central" needs to be creative on the fly. I think this will be remedied with the adoption of SXA, but we haven't made it there yet.

Sitecore Experience Platform is extremely powerful but I feel like we have only touched the surface on its capabilities.Our company is hoping to utilize personalization. We have been with Sitecore for 4 years and have yet to personalize any content.

Upgrades have been painful for us. We completed an upgrade from 8.2 to 9.0 earlier this year. The project took about 9 months to complete. Also dislike the heavy reliance on IT for template design. We would like our marketeers to be self-sufficient.
