"Highly Customizable Search with Insightful Analytics"
What do you like best about SearchStax?

I use SearchStax for multiple sites as the main search engine, and I appreciate how customizable the search results can be. It's great to have different search pages for various collections of information. I like the analytics dashboard as it allows our marketing team to improve results by analyzing search terms and ensuring the correct pages appear. The ability to define the search fields and boost certain fields, like titles over the main body, is really helpful. The date filters give us control to create custom searches, like setting up a specific search model for course data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SearchStax?

With the license we currently have, we're limited to the number of apps, which means the analytic data is shared across all search profiles. It would be extremely useful if each license came with 2 applications by default, so we could have an app for development and one for production. Testing changes has sometimes impacted the production search. Also, there wasn't proper training available when we started using SearchStax, which was a bit of a challenge. Response from James Levine of SearchStax

It's great to hear that SearchStax is helping you display complex search in a simple way. We're committed to providing solutions that make search simple and effective.

"SearchStax Delivers Powerful Search, Stellar Support, and Seamless Drupal Integration"
What do you like best about SearchStax?

SearchStax’s powerful set of search tools has made it easy for our users to find the content they’re looking for. The admin dashboard allows us to monitor, adjust and improve the search experience in real-time to further improve the User Experience. Their support has been stellar and they listen (and have implemented) feature requests quickly and thoroughly. The integration with our Drupal CMS and the performance of the search have been exceptional. Their AI tools even further improve both the front-end experience and the back-end management of our search. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SearchStax?

Implementation and maintenance can be difficult for non-technical users and the cost to scale or implement new features can be a bit high. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A Stable, No‑Nonsense Managed Search Platform"
What do you like best about SearchStax?

SearchStax is best suited for enterprises that need reliable, managed Solr‑based search with minimal operational overhead. It delivers strong performance and uptime, predictable scalability, and enterprise‑grade support, making search infrastructure effectively “boringly reliable.” The UI and integrations are functional and geared toward technical teams rather than business users, and the platform prioritizes stability over advanced AI‑driven relevance or experience features. While not the most innovative option, SearchStax provides solid ROI when consistency, support, and reduced engineering effort are the primary goals. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SearchStax?

SearchStax’s main drawback is that it is very infrastructure‑focused, which limits its appeal as search strategies evolve. The UI and tooling are geared toward technical users and lack the polish or accessibility needed for business or marketing teams. It also offers minimal native AI, relevance tuning, or personalization capabilities, making it less competitive against newer search platforms that emphasize intelligence and experience out of the box. As a result, while it excels at stability, it is less compelling for organizations looking for innovation or tighter integration with modern digital experience platforms. "Efficient Synonym Management, But Deployment Could Improve"
What do you like best about SearchStax?

I like the feature to add synonyms easily via the UI. I also like the feature to preview the cards. These features are easy to manage, and my client can access the dashboard to manage them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SearchStax?

For sure SearchStax needs a better way to deploy changes from one environment to the other. Currently, we need to take notes of the changes and replicate when we have tested and are ready. If something like this is not easy to implement, at least SearchStax could have revisions so we can check what was done without manually taking notes. Additionally, the performance needs to improve. From Drupal to the API it can take up to 5 minutes to display the new node which can be frustrating and also slow down development. Having more flexibility to define the result cards would be better too. We tried to customize but using Mustache wasn't that easy or flexible too. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Effortless Search Management with Exceptional Support"
What do you like best about SearchStax?

I use SearchStax as a managed Solr install for high performance searches. The support team is amazing! The platform is pretty clean and easy to understand. I like how I could easily add IP filters using CIDR for our vendor integration. The initial setup was easy enough, having it working in a few days. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SearchStax?

There is no point I dislike so far and I will be more than happy to share suggestions to improve once I have any. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Effortless Solr Setup with Minor UI Hiccups"
What do you like best about SearchStax?

I heavily use SearchStax for its faceting and facet filtering capabilities. As a startup, I appreciate that SearchStax offers a managed service, allowing us to focus on mission-critical tasks without managing Solr ourselves. I like that it was easy to spin up a Solr server within 30 minutes without needing to read a lot of manuals. This managed service was a great enabler for us to focus on delivering features that required a search index quickly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SearchStax?

The UI is old and clunky. I remember initially during setup I had to mail the support team when something was confusing. Access management could be better. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"SearchStax Managed Search: Full Solr Access Without the Overhead"
What do you like best about SearchStax?

What I find most useful about SearchStax Managed Search is that it removes a lot of the extra overhead from our plate while still giving us full access to Solr. They handle spinning up and configuring the resources, setting up Solr Cloud, and backing up the data, so all we really need to focus on is security and credentials. Thanks to SearchStax, we no longer have to maintain our own Solr services. On top of that, integrating our web apps with SearchStax Managed Solr has been straightforward and easy. We’ve also found their Customer Service to be quite responsive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SearchStax?

The backup process does consume disk space, and that counts toward the resources included in the plan. It would be great if backups were excluded from the disk space allocated as part of the plan, or at least handled separately.

Overall, the SearchStax Site Search product works well, but it still feels like it has some maturing to do. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Strong Search Controls with Lower Operational Overhead"
What do you like best about SearchStax?

What stands out most is the mix of strong search controls and lower operational overhead. In plain terms, teams can tune relevance and manage search more directly without owning all the underlying search infrastructure themselves. That usually means less time babysitting search and more time improving results. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SearchStax?

There is nothing to dislike about SearchStax. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"SME review: Searchstax and managed solr with Sitecore"
What do you like best about SearchStax?

Analytics and reporting have become more productive and accurate, contributing to increased revenue. Since switching to Searchstax, search-related issues have significantly decreased. The managed Solr product also stands out, with its monitoring, reporting, management, and support all being highly commendable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SearchStax?

It's not a complete dislike, but I believe it would be much better if there were a way to identify knowledge experts, such as through certifications, badges, MVP status, or a community list. This would create a win-win situation for businesses, customers, subject matter experts, and Searchstax alike. Additionally, holding public gatherings once a month or each quarter—such as expos, hackathons, or notification-based meetups—could help foster a more engaged community. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"People are the difference"
What do you like best about SearchStax?

We have found the SearchStax team to be knowledgeable, easy to work with and were timely with requests. I can only speak to the members that we had the pleasure of working with, but our experience has been very positive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SearchStax?

Recommendations for deployment sizes seem to be higher mostly because the bulk of their clients use Sitecore and Drupal. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
