"Total autonomy to understand the user without leaving your infrastructure"
What do you like best about PostHog?

The best thing about PostHog is that it combines power and total control. It allows us to capture and analyze custom events, build funnels, launch A/B tests, and review session recordings from a single tool, without needing to send data outside our infrastructure. This is key to complying with privacy and adapting analytics to our product without limitations or hidden costs.

Additionally, its open source model gives us the flexibility to deploy it internally, integrate it with our stack, and scale according to our needs. It's like having your own Mixpanel + Hotjar + LaunchDarkly, but without losing control or paying prohibitive prices. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PostHog?

The initial complexity can be a challenge: you need a certain technical foundation to deploy it and adjust it to your needs. Additionally, some integrations or plugins require manual configuration or even custom development if you want to go beyond the basics. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Easy-to-Use Analytics with a Smooth Setup"
What do you like best about PostHog?

I find PostHog to be incredibly easy to use, which greatly enhances my experience with the platform. This ease of use makes the initial setup straightforward and efficient, a crucial advantage when integrating analytics tools. The simplicity of the interface supports seamless tracking of user activities, which is vital for conducting thorough analytics. This user-friendly nature of PostHog enables me to focus more on analysis rather than grappling with complex configurations, allowing my workflow to remain smooth and efficient. Additionally, I find that PostHog seamlessly complements my existing software, enhancing my team's efficiency by integrating effortlessly into our established ecosystem. What do you dislike about PostHog?

I find the video aspect of the PostHog dashboard could be improved. It doesn't fully meet my expectations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Easy Setup and Versatile Analytics with PostHog"
What do you like best about PostHog?

I love PostHog's ability to self-host, which provides greater control over the data and environment. The good free tier is very appealing, offering substantial value without immediate financial commitment. I find the platform easy to use, making onboarding and day-to-day operations smooth and stress-free. Their great website also stands out, potentially indicating a user-friendly design and comprehensive resources or information. Additionally, the initial setup was very easy, thanks to the Codex CLI, which efficiently handled most of the configuration process, enhancing my overall experience by reducing setup time and complexity. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PostHog?

Some features are more basic than expected, such as the event dictionary with no possibility to examine key usage. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"PostHog: All-in-One Analytics Without the Headache"
What do you like best about PostHog?

I really like several things about PostHog. First, their free plan is perfect for early-stage growth because it gives you powerful tools without high costs. What makes them special is their focus on privacy and security, which is very important for teams working with user data that needs to stay safe.

They also let you self-host the software, which is great if you care a lot about privacy or want more control.

I tried setting it up with Coolify, and it worked really well. Plus, many cloud services now support hosting PostHog natively, making it even simpler to get started.

What stands out is how PostHog combines different tools into one platform—like web analytics, product insights, and session replay.

The dashboard is also fully customizable, so you can set it up to show exactly the information your team needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PostHog?

Setting up PostHog on your own servers can be tricky, especially if you're not used to managing your own hosting. That's why I suggest looking into cloud providers—they often let you install PostHog with just a few clicks through their service marketplaces, which makes the setup much easier.

That said, I think some important features should come included in the basic plan.

For example, webhooks are really important for how I use PostHog, especially when moving data and connecting it with other tools. I use them a lot and hope they're easier to access by default. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great price and easy tool for A/B tests and feature flags"
What do you like best about PostHog?

I like PostHog for the good price model and many tools inside. The interface looks nice and is easy to use. The payment rules are clear and friendly. There is a big free tier so you can check if it works for you before paying. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PostHog?

Some things are too much connected. For example feature flags are linked with A/B tests. I would like to use them also separate. There is no simple way to have different environments like production staging etc. I need to copy flags between projects and each project is my environment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Amazing experiences with PostHog"
What do you like best about PostHog?

The most helpful thing about PostHog is how open they are with their users, being able to look through their website and be able to understand their company, pricing and great customer support. It has been easy to use PostHog as they have so much developer focused documentation which makes use, implementation and integration easy. I use it for all of my personal projects and I am starting to use it for more and more clients. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PostHog?

So far I haven't found anything that I dislike, the only thing is that there are so many features that it can be overwhelming, but they have also added new features to help fix this. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Impressive Heat Maps and Screen Recording, Perfect for Beginners"
What do you like best about PostHog?

Heat maps, user habit tracking and the high-quality screen recording feature really impressed me. The features in the free version are excellent for beginners. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PostHog?

As much as I love the screen recording feature, I didn't enable it myself and I don't know how it is legally approached in my country. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A Versatile, User-Friendly Analytics Powerhouse"
What do you like best about PostHog?

I find PostHog to be incredibly easy to use and appreciate its user-friendly interface. The extensive toolset feels like getting significant value for money. The unique and inviting design enhances the overall experience. I'm impressed by the thorough feature for setting up experiments, which rivals even Google Optimize. The session recording and experiment features are particularly impressive. PostHog offers valuable insights into my portfolio's user engagement and helps optimize strategies effectively. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PostHog?

I feel like the range of products PostHog offers can be overwhelming. While it provides a wide array of tools, navigating through all these options can be a bit complex and might benefit from a simplification. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Powerful analytics platform that feels ready to use out-of-the-box"
What do you like best about PostHog?

I’m really impressed by how advanced and easy to use PostHog’s LLM analytics and revenue analytics are. They feel like they were built for my workflow and don’t require a lot of setup before becoming useful. It’s rare to find a tool that combines powerful features with such quick time-to-value. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PostHog?

The sidebar can feel a little crowded at first, and it took me some time to get used to navigating everything. Once I got acquainted it was fine, but the initial learning curve could be smoother. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Powerful and intuitive product analytics platform"
What do you like best about PostHog?

PostHog offers a seamless self-hosted analytics solution that gives full control over user data. Its event-based tracking is highly customizable, and the session recordings, funnels, and feature flags help us deeply understand user behavior. The interface is user-friendly, and integration was straightforward, even for complex use cases. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PostHog?

While PostHog is feature-rich, some advanced dashboards and filtering options can feel a bit limited or slow for very large datasets. Documentation is improving, but certain self-hosting configurations could be better explained. A more responsive customer support option for smaller teams would also be helpful.
