It's reliable. **What do you dislike about Stripe Payments?** I have no chargebacks, no voided charges, yet Stripe is now holding my funds for 14 DAYS after the charge due to an "increase in customer refunds and chargebacks in your industry." I sell koi. There is no "industry." This is being done to "help ensure your customers can get timely access to refunds and chargebacks." What does that even mean? Do they not refund consumers until they recover the money from me? I doubt that. Anyway, this strikes me as unethical behavior that should be illegal if it's not already. They're simply going to use my money for two weeks, interest-free, on the off-chance that someone disputes a charge even though my account has no history of chargebacks or refunds. **Recommendations to others considering Stripe Payments:** I do not recommend Stripe. A 14-day payment delay is not workable for me and I can't imagine it is for anyone... except Stripe, I'm sure it works great for them. If you dig into their reviews, many other Stripe users have been suddenly shifted to a 2-week payout for no apparent reason. Save yourself the hassle and use Braintree or any one of the other processors that have more reasonable business practices. **What problems is Stripe Payments solving and how is that benefiting you?** Stripe became a default choice because a Wordpress plugin I use integrates it. Every aspect of the service is positive except for payouts. They were slow before, now they're just plain ridiculous. The branding possibilities are endless. There are some easy to use "out of the box" solutions you can deploy right away without needing a developer. But if you have a developer, then you can really customize so that your customer has no idea that you didn't build your own payment processor. Their pricing is fairly reasonable and it's easy to connect Stripe Payments to any API source. They provide a very robust documentation library. In my experience, their support is very responsive at all hours, even on weekends and holidays. Whenever I needed to get in touch with support, live chat has always been an option no matter what time day or night or weekend or holiday. The dashboard and reporting systems are very robust and easy to use. Most payment processors for all-in-one platforms actually use a white-label version of Stripe, and then charge merchants higher processing fees than Stripe would charge to use their custom-built Stripe solution.... So if you are already familiar with using Stripe and are searching for a new CRM or hosting all-in-one provider, you could end up paying more in fees to use the all-in-one solution. There are always tradeoffs to consider, because if you don't have access to a developer, a white label Stripe may be better for you to save time and you can pay for that development cost over the course of time vs a large developer bill you have to pay all at once... You'll pay more in fees, but unless you can hire a developer (and they can be pricey) that's just kind of how it goes. It all depends on some of the other vendors you are working with. I've looked into solutions that bill you a fee if you don't use their payment processor, even if you already have a Stripe account. So if you are already familiar with using Stripe and can hire out development help, you can keep using that vs paying a hosting vendor more money to use a payment system you already use. This is something most smaller businesses may not consider. **What do you dislike about Stripe Payments?** My biggest complaint is that Stripe has recently stopped returning fees to merchants when you issue a refund. So if you issue a full refund to your customer, you end up losing money in fees. That's been perhaps my biggest complaint over the course of working with them over the years. Another potential downfall is that because Stripe is so developer-friendly, it can seem intimidating for someone without development experience to get started without hiring a developer. Support can assist with some things, but they don't provide direct development help outside of providing a link to their documentation. Beyond that, I'd choose Stripe over any other payment processor like PayPal. **What problems is Stripe Payments solving and how is that benefiting you?** We can easily keep track of our payments, orders, subscriptions, see how our business is performing over time. I can easily create reports that are easy to review at a glance for my board of directors. We can keep track of risky payments and maintain proper PCI compliance. I really like using Stripe Payments.
