## About Progress Sitefinity
Progress Sitefinity is a cloud-first content management system (CMS) and digital experience platform (DXP) used to build, manage and personalize websites, portals and other digital properties. It is adopted by mid-market and enterprise organisations that operate multi-site, multilingual or regulated digital estates and need to balance marketing autonomy with IT governance and developer flexibility. Primary use cases include corporate websites, member and customer portals, authenticated experiences, integration-heavy workflows and consolidation of fragmented CMS deployments. Sitefinity supports marketing, development and IT teams through a shared platform model with role-appropriate tools and permissions. Key capabilities include: - Multisite, multilingual and multi-brand management with governance controls and workflows - Native customer data platform (Sitefinity Insight) for segmentation, analytics and personalization - 1,000+ prebuilt connectors and open APIs, Sitefinity Cloud platform integrates with your MarTech stack, CRM and enterprise systems in hours—not weeks - Extensibility using .NET and ASP.NET Core for custom development and composable architectures Sitefinity also incorporates generative and retrieval-augmented capabilities through Progress® Agentic RAG, enabling dynamic assembly of experiences from approved content to reduce manual production work while maintaining accuracy, compliance and brand standards. Additional operational benefits and deployment considerations: - Standardization and consolidation of CMS estates across business units or regions - Support for marketing, development and IT workflows without requiring a headless-only approach - Structured content for regulated or high-volume publishing environments - Deployment on-premises or as a managed cloud service on Microsoft Azure, reducing maintenance and providing security, scaling and compliance

## Progress Sitefinity Reviews
  ### 1. Flexible MVC Architecture and Strong Backend Control in Sitefinity

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ankush D. | Developer, Computer Software, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 10, 2025

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

I really value how user-friendly Sitefinity is for both developers and content editors. The platform features a clean interface, flexible page management, and robust personalization capabilities. Its MVC-based development approach makes creating custom widgets and modules straightforward, while the integrated tools for content editing, media management, and multilingual support enable teams to collaborate efficiently. The deployment and environment synchronization options are also time-saving and help minimize errors. All in all, Sitefinity delivers a stable and dependable CMS that effectively supports projects of varying complexity.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Certain features, such as language packs and specific settings, often demand additional manual steps. We frequently have to configure these elements individually and then coordinate deployments to apply the changes. This approach tends to slow down the process and increases the workload, particularly when managing several environments. Streamlining and automating these tasks would greatly enhance the overall experience.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sitefinity helps reduce the need for frequent deployments by allowing many updates—such as small CSS or JavaScript changes, content edits, and layout adjustments—to be done directly from the backend. This saves time and avoids breaking the site for minor updates. It also provides a stable content management workflow, good module structure, and easy page editing, which helps the team work faster and handle changes without depending on full development cycles.

  ### 2. Effortless Content Management with Excellent Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amitesh R. | Director of IT, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 03, 2025

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

I truly appreciate the ease of publishing content using the out-of-the-box widgets and forms within Progress Sitefinity's framework, as it requires minimal customizations. This feature simplifies content management immensely. Additionally, I love the ability to stage content, allowing me to validate it before it goes live. The workflow to perform scheduled syncs to the production website once the content is reviewed and approved is incredibly efficient and adds a level of professionalism and reliability to our processes. Progress Sitefinity also impressed me with how easy the initial setup was. The fantastic documentation and top-notch support from Progress made our transition smooth and trouble-free. I am so satisfied with the capabilities and user-friendly nature of Progress Sitefinity that I rate my likelihood of recommending it to others a perfect 10.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

I dislike that the out-of-the-box search functionality in Progress Sitefinity is not very effective. It often necessitates integrating third-party implementations to enhance and streamline content search capabilities.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Progress Sitefinity simplifies content management and publishing with ease of use and minimal customization, enabling us to provide vital educational information while offering excellent support and documentation.

  ### 3. Powerful CMS, Easy for Contributors

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 04, 2025

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

The clean, intuitive user interface and how easy it is to update content. We use Sitefinity Cloud, and their support is very helpful. On the rare occasion the site runs into issues (cloud availability incident), support has usually already started looking into or already resolved the problem.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

They changed their support tiers, so you now have to pay more for the support you used to receive as part of your plan. The response times are now slower, which can be frustrating. It is rather expensive in general. We had custom functionality added by a Sitefinity partner, so upgrading Sitefinity can be somewhat problematic as the custom functionality can break in the process. It helps to be familiar with .NET as well, especially when trying to troubleshoot on the backend.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Continuity, fast loading, secure, easy content updating, intuitive interface.

  ### 4. Great Support, But Search/Replace on the Website Needs Improvement

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Government Relations | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 05, 2026

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Excellent customer service and technical support.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

I can’t easily do a search-and-replace on a website. Reviewers can't see the difference between old and new versions of a file side by side. I can't to identify orphans in the system. Unable to locate pages that link to other pages in our site easily. We rely on third party tools now to do things we used to be able to accomplish in our old CMS.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It provides a secure platform for our websites.

  ### 5. Empowers Small Teams with Big Features and Easy Updates

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 02, 2025

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

For a small non-profit, this is great because non-technical staff can update the site quickly, and it offers strong features for security and personalized donor communication. It gives a small team the tools of a large one.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

The main problem is the high cost. Sitefinity's licensing fees and the need for expensive, specialized developers for the initial setup and major changes often put it out of reach for non-profits with limited budgets. It is usually too much power and cost for a lean team.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Crucially, it unifies the website and visitor data, letting a small non-profit team deliver personalized, effective communications, which solves the challenge of maximizing impact with limited staff.

  ### 6. Neither here nor there kind of Enterprise CMS (version 15.3.8500 )

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Su Qiyi . | manager (digital communications), Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 30, 2025

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

your IT department usually will endorse Sitefinity for its security as its not so opened like php-based CMS such as wordpress or joomla.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

It has almost no widgets, and you need a very good developer to build everything and widgets. In Singapore, you either get Web sparks which cost quite a bit or other vendors who are not necessarily as well skilled. So the cost of investment can be very high. The yearly license is about 20k USD so you need to factor the cost of hosting, maintenance and development separately with the vendor.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps to host my website.

  ### 7. Effortless Content Management and Integration with Excellent Support

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 04, 2025

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Sitefinity is a web content management system which allows easiest transition from developers to editors in business. It is easy to implement, use, integrate with other systems. It serves good performance, and support is reachable when needed.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Sitefinity is powerful, .NET based CMS that's easy for content editors to use and flexible for developers. it does offer strong personalization and good performance. The main downsides are its higher licensing cost, a learning curve from beginners to mater, and complex upgrades.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps business in faster content updates, easier to manage, and more efficient to deliver experiences without needing heavy developer involvement each time.

  ### 8. Very satisfied long-term customer. 19+ years!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 21, 2020

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Ease of use, support and customization.

The support is by far one of the best for any product that I work with.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

The price point for smaller companies/organizations.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

The software may look cumbersome from 30,000 feet, but when you get down on the ground with it, you will love it.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are able to run multiple websites with very little overhead or staff. Training content editors is super simple.

  ### 9. Flexible Platform with Extensive Extension Points

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vivek A. | Application Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 02, 2025

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

The flexibility of Sitefinity. There are a TON of extension points to every part of Sitefinity - the frontend, backend, on the database. Its an excellent platform for both end-users creating content on the CRM to developers supporting the backend functionality.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

It is lagging behind providing native support for modern web development paradigms.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It provides a front-end, back-end web platform for our organization.

  ### 10. Complex is both good and bad

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** HSLDA O. | Lead Front End Web Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 09, 2025

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

It's an indepth and complex CMS that allows for a lot of flexibility and customization

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

That same depth and complexity can make it difficult to work with at times

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

we use it for our main website and it helps a team of editors and managers work together to provide the content we wanted to deliver
