The thing that stands out most about Emarsys is that it's very marketer-friendly and has a ton of power that can be harnessed by an individual or small team. Features like the pre-built tactics make it so easy to take action to influence your customers - and it's directly tied into your data and reporting, so you know you are being tactical and smart. Additionally, Emarsys is strong across all channels. Other platforms may be email-first and the other channels feel like watered-down add-ons. Every channel is strong and easy to use in Emarsys. I find SAP Emarsys flexible for our marketing department, enhancing efficiency in marketing operations. I appreciate the ability to set up push notifications and inbox messages for different segments, which are instrumental in our communication strategy. What do you dislike about SAP Emarsys?

Setting up SAP Emarsys has proven to be quite demanding, especially when it comes to integrating Emarsys with our existing SAP legacy platform and configuring several test accounts. Furthermore, the SDK we adopted was not technically mature, which made the process even more challenging. I feel that the SDK documentation could be more comprehensive, as it currently lacks sufficient detail. In addition, I think the technical support could be more responsive and helpful. Emarsys makes it very easy to manage complex customer journeys across multiple channels. The automation flows are intuitive to set up, and the reporting gives clear insight into performance. I especially like how user-friendly the segmentation tools are — it’s quick to target the right customers and personalise campaigns. There can be a learning curve at the start if you’re new to automation platforms, and some advanced features take time to fully understand. The reporting dashboards could be more customizable, and occasionally the interface feels a little slow when handling large datasets. These are small issues compared to the overall value it provides. What do you like best about SAP Emarsys?

Customer Support: The agents are quick to respond, insightful, and willing to provide not only a solution but guidance.

Platform Navigation: The UI is well laid out and intuitive.

What do you dislike about SAP Emarsys?

Reporting: The reporting tools, whilst there, offer email specific reporting or trends for all emails. It will be best to have a fully functional reporting tool to customise reporting metrics and selecting specific email campaigns.

Release Changes: We are not informed when releases are taking place, which has caused setup grievances.

What I personally have to criticize is the complexity when integrating with systems that are not from SAP. I find that the API isn't always stable, and getting data out of it is sometimes genuinely tedious. I find it difficult to edit, delete, expand, or rename criterion fields in SAP Emarsys. It is not clear how to deal with the many pre-made fields that I do not need. Additionally, it is unclear how to rename a field to find it more quickly. In addition to the complexity of editing fields, I find the initial setup of SAP Emarsys not easy. I truly appreciate the Trends dashboard in the analysis tab of SAP Emarsys, as it offers an intuitive and straightforward way to monitor the performance of our email campaigns. The live monitoring feature is beneficial because it allows me to observe the progress of campaigns as they happen. Furthermore, I am impressed by how intuitive and easy to learn SAP Emarsys is, which significantly reduces the learning curve. In particular, when building triggered campaigns, the nodes display is exceptionally clear, making it simple to understand and develop workflows. The dashboard is also a plus, presenting easy-to-understand and useful information, which helps in making informed decisions. I really appreciate SAP Emarsys for its 'privacy opens' feature, which gives a clear indication of true engagement through click-through rates and delivery rates, allowing better assessment of email performance. This feature helps clarify whether low click-through rates are due to poor delivery or engagement issues. The revenue indicator is another beneficial feature, as it shows the revenue generated from each email, enabling us to identify which email campaigns and particular content pieces drive the most revenue. This insight allows us to replicate successful strategies and enhance overall campaign effectiveness. Additionally, I find it incredibly efficient and user-friendly that SAP Emarsys makes it easy to amend data via the campaign tool and keep contact lists updated automatically, ensuring the database remains clean. I find managing content within the SAP Emarsys tool challenging due to the absence of folders, making it difficult to organize emails by content type or team, leading to accessibility issues for previous campaigns. Additionally, analyzing data across multiple emails is cumbersome; while one-on-one comparisons are feasible, conducting comprehensive analyses over several regions is not supported as it only allows for A vs. B comparisons. The initial setup was also a bit challenging, especially concerning API connectivity, where I had issues integrating data from third-party tools like Google. Understanding the distinctions between service campaigning options, such as opt-in versus opt-out, during setup was unclear and required additional effort to grasp fully. Additionally, the product catalog feature has been immensely beneficial, allowing me to pull in product information without the need to code everything individually, which saves a lot of time.
