While Canto is highly efficient overall, there are a few areas where it could improve. At times, the initial setup and customization of metadata or taxonomy can feel slightly time-consuming, especially for new users without prior DAM experience.

If assets are not tagged or structured well from the beginning, it can become slightly difficult to maintain consistency later. Bynder is helping us centralize and better govern our digital assets, addressing challenges with inconsistent tagging, poor findability, and fragmented storage. Every once in a while, VEED gets words wrong, but those are very quick fixes. Sometimes, it'll get most of the sentence but miss the final word. I have to shorten the thing, remove the word, and add in the words to the next column to fill the space. It's a bit of a process, but it's not terribly hard to do, and it's only rare. The learning curve around prompt sensitivity can be frustrating early on. Small wording changes produce wildly different results, and it takes time to develop an intuition for what the model responds well to. I'd also love more granular control over mesh topology for output intended for further sculpting or rigging. Resolution and refinement. The free tools I was using got me close, but "close" has a cost when you need a certain level of detail to actually commit to a piece. Low-fidelity output meant either accepting limitations or sinking extra hours into manual cleanup that broke my creative flow.

Meshy raises the baseline. The outputs come through with enough resolution that I'm spending less time fixing and more time making. The refinement controls also mean I can push a result further without starting over, which is where a lot of generative tools fall short. Vyond streamlines my animation process, allowing our team to develop reality-based scenario training quickly. Synthesia powers a strong and efficient way to create video content, but there are still some areas where it could improve. One limitation is that the current creative flexibility can sometimes feel narrower than what is possible with more traditional video production or editing platforms. Users who need highly customized visuals, more advanced editing tools, controls, or greater brand-specific adjustments may find some parts of the platform somewhat restrictive. Additionally, while certain features are useful, there are situations where the delivery could feel more natural or expressive for certain types of messaging. Expanding customization options, improving the realism of presentation, and offering more control over design and editing would make the platform even more versatile and effective. The avatar’s tone can sometimes come across as a bit neutral. For longer videos, I find it needs better pacing control to keep things moving smoothly. Dependency on External Editing

The built-in editor covers the basics well, but it shows its limits the moment a project gets slightly more complex. I was putting together a training video that needed a brief screen recording layered alongside a slide deck, with a separate audio narration track synced underneath, and Loom simply could not handle that combination. I ended up exporting the footage and finishing the project in an external editor, which added a step I was hoping to avoid. For straightforward recordings it is perfectly capable, but if your work involves any level of production beyond trimming and stitching clips together, you will eventually hit a point where the tool asks you to go elsewhere to finish the job.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Feature Gating on AI Tools

The AI features are genuinely useful, which makes it more noticeable when they disappear behind a paywall. I had access to the automated summaries and filler word removal during what seemed like a trial window, and I quickly built them into my workflow — using summaries to give context to viewers before they hit play and relying on filler word removal to clean up recordings without manual editing. When that trial ended and those features became paid-only, the recordings felt noticeably rougher and the extra steps came back. It is not that the free plan is bad, but getting a taste of how much smoother those tools make the experience and then losing access to them makes the limitation feel sharper than it otherwise would. Streamlined Workflow for Screen Recording

Before Loom, setting up a screen recording at work felt like a project in itself. I had to download software, configure audio inputs, figure out whether I wanted to capture the full screen or just one window, and by the time I was ready to record I had already lost ten minutes and half my motivation. Loom collapsed all of that into a single click from the browser. Now when a colleague asks me to walk them through a process, I just start recording and send the link when I am done. It removed enough friction that I actually reach for it instead of defaulting to a long email or scheduling yet another meeting to explain something I could demonstrate in three minutes.

The organization problem sounds minor until I am actually the person responsible for maintaining a shared video library that multiple team members rely on. In my case, I was recording consistently across several different areas of work — new hire onboarding steps, software troubleshooting guides, monthly process updates, and quick explainers for cross-departmental handoffs. For the first few weeks it felt manageable, but by the time I had around 40 recordings sitting in the library, finding anything specific had become genuinely time-consuming. A new joiner once came to me asking for the video on how to raise a purchase order in our finance system, and I spent nearly ten minutes scrubbing through clips trying to identify the right one because most of them were labeled something unhelpful like “Recording — Tuesday” or had no description attached at all. It was embarrassing and it undermined the whole point of having the recordings in the first place. Once the AI-generated titles and summaries were active, our library became searchable in a meaningful way. Each video automatically received a clear, context-aware title and a two to three sentence summary describing exactly what was covered, who it was relevant to, and what we would be able to do after watching it. The next time a colleague asked for the purchase order walkthrough, I typed a few words into the search bar and had the right link in their hands within thirty seconds. It gives us a clear, structured overview of all our visual assets. It’s easy to find the right information and metadata for each asset, and just as easy to share them both internally and externally. We reuse lots of our assets to create new assets. E.g. we have an image of a chicken with some seeds, and we use the seeds in another image. The problem was the file name didn't tell us that there are seeds in the file. This meant we were spending design time recreating assets that already exsisted. We got all our assets on Dash, tagged them up. It means our design time when creating our games has dropped to about 20% of what it was. Lots of $$$ savings! The platform is quite feature-rich, so initially it can take a little time to fully understand all capabilities and best practices. Documentation is good, but sometimes you still need to experiment a bit to find the optimal setup for your workflow. ImageKit helps us solve performance and media management challenges. We looked for about 2 years before settling on Plytix. We were concerned about programs that were overly complicated and difficult to use. The Plytix team did a great job onboarding us, and we've really enjoyed the product. It has been one of the best things we've done as far as SAAS partnerships.
