Creating merged documents can be complex and I've found that Nintex's 'DDP' configuration (that's their Drawloop Dynamic Package) makes what could be a complex configuration much easier.
We run a Salesforce consulting and ISV practice and whilst we're not Nintex partners or resellers, we do use and recommend their technology to clients because we find it easy to implement and straightforward for clients to self-support.
The DDP is a Salesforce record and series of related records that drive the behaviour of the merge functionality - such as pulling in data from related objects, defining output options and many other relationships.
The app itself is stable and the document quality is good. We've been using Drawloop (before it was Nintex Drawloop) for about 8 years now and recommend it to our clients. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There is a reasonable learning curve to the app - but once you've set up one DDP, it's fairly straightforward to use this as the basis for additional ones.
Behaviour in Lightning can be a bit fiddly - particularly as it's not entirely clear which components should be used on page layouts.
From work with clients recently, I understand that the pricing model has changed and minimum commitments are making the solution less attractive to smaller businesses with fewer users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It allows for many fields from various related objects to be pulled into a single document, Excel or Word. The document can be exported or uploaded to SF. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The interface is not as user friendly as it could be. I spent a good bit of time reviewing the documentation and figuring things out through trial and error. Eventually I was able to get the final product we needed. However, I could not get end user adoption due to the number of steps required to produce the document. Additionally you must choose to download or attach to project. There is no option to do both. In the contract, they require a 30 day notice to cancel the service, otherwise you must pay for another full year. Of course, they don't send out a reminder. When we received the new invoice it was too late to cancel. I reached out and asked them to meet us in the middle but they insisted that we pay for the full second year, you know, because of that pesky contract. If you buy this product, be sure to set a calendar reminder 60 days before renewal so don't get stuck paying for another year for a service you aren't using. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
With a couple of clicks, we are able to merge hundreds of letters to hundreds of people into a single file, for easy printing and sending. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I don't tend to go outside my limited comfort level with DocGen because there is much that is still very technical about it. I rely heavily on their tech support in order to make changes to our existing document packages. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The ability to replicate documents when more than one is required, for example, if our lease has 4 personal guarantors, DocGen has the ability to create a document for each. Our previous system lacked in this ability, I like the ability to use the excel middleware to populate more than one customer name as well as use word formulas to generate different language. Our documents are highly complex and this makes the user experience better. It's not a manual process for them anymore. Being new to Nintex, it would have been very helpful to work with a specific person at Nintex as we were first developing our documents. Although you support was extremely helpful, in the beginning it would have been great to directly work with one of your experts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I can't put a component group within a component group, I can't highlight in the component group and have that show up on the documents even though NextGen shows the ability to highlight in the component group, when using bullets, it puts a different spacing on the documents compared to the rest of the spacing on the doc, (I want to single space the bullet points when needed but in the document it always comes in as double space, it's a huge inconvenience to have to add all the different word styles to each documents in order for our users to combine documents together without losing the formatting in subsequent documents. I understand it's a MS defect but it's a big challenge. We have over 200 documents and if I need to add a MS style to a new doc, I need to go back into all the other docs and update the word styles for each Page numbering does not work currently when combining documents together, if one doc is 5 pages and one is 6, when combining the docs the page numbering is 1-11. We did reach out to Nintex support and there was no solution. I can't select different documents from different document packages and create one package, I have to duplicate the document in the document package I need it in. I am able to find documentation fairly easily through the customer portal. When I'm not able to find a solution to my issue, Nintex support (understanding my predicament) spent a decent amount of time either on a screen share or taking the issue offline and come back with a solution.
The support team has always been gracious and patient when assisting me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The learning curve can be a bit difficult when you are first working with Nintex. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Nintex Document Generation is a workhorse! It can do SO MUCH -- SOQL queries? Not a problem. Email attachments? Sure! Pick a specific document based on the content of your records? Absolutely! I love the flexibility of outcomes too -- if you want a field value to be updated from "New" to "Submitted" (for example), after generating the DocGen package, that's easy to put in place. If you want an email to go out automatically, or if you prefer to allow a user to preview it first -- not a problem, take your pick.
It feels like Nintex has thought of everything. Well... almost (see dislike section below). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Error handling is terrrrrible. They just give you a long string of numbers and you have to open a case in order to know what it means. Blech. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The best part of this solution is the fact that it auto populates contract information and is well integrated with salesforce and hence makes it easier to follow with prospects/customers rather than spend time in manual document creation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There is actually nothing that I dislike about the solution - the one recommendation is to make the error handling process more intuitive - at the moment it is a very clumsy process to look for the error and correcting it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
DocGen has been boon for us. Especially when we are short of development time and need to roll out a new document or update changes. We don't have to depend on the developers or consultants to develop, test and release the Visualforce Page. All it takes is a few clicks and its done. It is as simple as editing a word document. I dislike how easy it has made my life to updating the formats to everything. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Nintex Drawloop makes it easy for us to render clean documents for customer sales invoice presentation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We have an issue where we can't display the invoice number in our email template that goes to our customers with the PDF invoice while we have the "Internal Email" box checked. Nintex support recommended we check that box to be able to send to all necessary contacts based on how our config is set up. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like the user access and the ease of setting up security groups. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I found the ability to easily use multiple file formats in a secure and efficient way as a win-win. I had no dislikes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We Use the Nintex Drawloop/Docgen for our salesforce applications and its very help. Especially for managing the documents by type in our complex process involves 10 different stages. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Initially it took us a while to understand the full features and utilize the application. Once its configured correctly , its very useful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The ability to customize salesforce reports using drawloop has been a great value add for our organization. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It is somewhat of a difficult program to use. We usually have to pay a developer to create our reports. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The freedom with which I can grab data from anywhere using point and click but also soql Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We still seem to have a lightning related refresh error whenever we generate a document. This hasn’t been addressed. There also seem to be outages more lately Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The simplicity how we configure the content to generate as document and the performance and flexibility with usage of just outbound message to invoke service to generate documents in salesforce. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sometime, usage of complex query which is not working smoothly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We can dynamically pull information from Salesforce and merge to Word, Powerpoint and PDF files Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There is limited functionality for cross object generation. We've had use some workarounds in Salesforce to get the data that we need. I would also like to see a way to create field name aliases to have smaller merge tags. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
As Group IT Business Solution Manager i got the chance to experienced Nintex In my company for years, the good about the product are the following:
- Is very easy to learn and very easy to use all its features
- You can easily merge many fields from Salesforce because the system is very powerful and robust
- Lets talk also about the package, it's complete to help completely the Salesforce
- Able to integrated directly into Sharepoint Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I will list below the cons of the product below:
- Cost problems, the product is a costly starting from $625.00/month to 1665/month
- Datasource restoration on premise do not exist in Nintex so you need to find it yourself
- migration difficulty in going from on premise to online. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The product met all of our proposal generation needs ( and our needs could get very complicated technically). Above all, what I liked most about Nintex was their customer care department. Very responsive and going out of their way to solve customers problems. That to me is the bigger advantage over the product features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
At this stage, nothing really. The product met our needs. I have used various products in the past 6 years and I am happy with Nintex Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Though I know we haven't used it to its potential, my sense is that it's a very powerful platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We don't have a Salesforce expert on hand in our organization. There are times when we could really use one, it seems, to take proper advantage of of the document generation platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The ability to generate documents on quotes and other custom objects in salesforce based on certain filter criteria that is configurable in drawloop Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sometimes, the upgrades to drawloop version causes issues. DSGetPageIDFromHref() method caused issues when we upgraded to the newer version (The older version considered the quote id to be an optional parameter on custom objects whereas the newer version doesn't consider the quote id to be an optional parameter when we use the method DSGetPageIDFromHref()) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sales reps can now generate Close Plans simply by clicking a button from the fields they already populate in our Salesforce instance. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I wish there were more customization options for document output types. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
