With Druva, we just add the proxy and the servers we want to backup on prem and this takes care of it , the dedup by more than 50% is great so you are using a lot less credits than you would if no dedup. Single pane of glass for all my regions backups in 4 countries with all stats in the dashboard. Ability to do entire VMs and single file restores, App aware backups. I would say domain server backups is the least convenient, as you have to do scripts to accommodate the windows restrictions. Otherwise , a simple built in feature for this to tick a box advising the Druva backup job that this is a Domain Controller and then it do the backup compliant to Windows for Domain controllers. Also for DR backups , AWS storage costs is separate and not included not a good thing as DR will certainly take a considerable amount of space in AWS. this should be included in the contract as using parts of our credit how we wish to between backups and DR. Druva Phoenix has a global dedupe feature helps our backup storage credits go further. 12x infact. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
When something isn't backing up, we need to dive into a log file on the server to parse out what went wrong. Would prefer to be able to go back to the console and try to backup just that one file again. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Druva’s ability to be able to employee 2 new service extremely quickly and the very short time that the backups take to complete Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The lack of more descriptive log information when issues arise and not giving solutions to the issues in the help portal Which requires you to contact support well almost guaranteed to ask you at least twice for log information Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Druva was clearly designed with admins in mind. It is clear and easy to configure, recover data, see any issues with my backups, and generally to resolve them very quickly.
The flexible use of storage is great for a client with a small footprint like us - we can pay for what we really need, and the use of AWS means it's flexible if our needs change. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Setting policies only by group, without an option to override any setting for a particular server, is a little cumbersome if you need different retention for different servers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Ease of use setting up appliances in virtual environment. The idea that I don't have to install any agents on the systems themselves and it's just an appliance that takes snapshots is huge for us. There's no real impact to our systems and updating the appliance is very straightforward. I also appreciate that the Druva team reaches out each year for a healthcheck. Bandwidth limit of 1023mbps when uploading backups makes the whole process take a lot longer than we'd prefer. The fact that each appliance can only backup 3 systems at once is also a limiting factor, ideally we'd like the ability to use more of our network bandwidth to facilitate faster backups. One of the best parts of working wth Druva Pheonix was (not lying) Pre-Sales. When I was shopping around I had three candidates (one being Druva) and won the bid. Why did they win. PRICING was so attractive for a school setting and the company understood my needs in a district with limited funding. They were so creative they gave more functions to allow the migration to happen on our terms. Lastly, the Pre sales engineer assisted (literally hand held) how to setup and made sure all aspects were covered. This is stellar service in it self! As for the product it just works! At first I did not care for the CREDIT model. Now that I have been partnered with Druva for almost two months, I have a much better understanding how this works. Sometimes talking to support can be challenging since they are over sea, but that is nothing new to cry about when in IT. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I specifically use Druva for VMWare vCenter, though it can also be used without vCenter, i.e. directly on ESXI hosts. I like the simple and straightforward setup of Druva proxies. The restore process is not perfect but pretty close (much better than other solutions). Druva also offers the ability to use multiple proxy VM's for increased redundancy. Lastly, these proxy VM's are prebuilt by Druva so deployment is very quick. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The cost if obviously a fairly big pain point for some organizations. I think Druva is scalable up to a certain level, and then building or buying a backup solution + using S3 buckets becomes more price effective. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I found the ease of setup and monitoring were great features . The ability to test and then view the status in a single pane was a big help once things were implemented. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The backup restoration procedure and requirements are greater and more time consuming than I would prefer but it's acceptable. Unfortunately I don't know of a way to make it happen more quickly. That's just something that is to be expected with any kind of software like that. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Clean admin UI, fast backups and excellent de-dupe keeping backup footprint to a manageable size Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Pricing can be challenging, as it is use-based (which is not unusual for cloud backup) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
How easy it was to set up to very quickly get our Office 365 system and all email accounts backed up. The onboarding for servers was also painless. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The time it takes to back up some of our servers, our large data stores are not completing in the necessary window. This is just for initial backup, but we would like to see a progress bar or something indicating how far along it is on the initial backup so we know based on the current window, it will take x number of windows to complete the initial backup of the system. I find the best aspect of Druva is their support team. They are very quick to respond, very professional, really good at educating you while helping you resolve any issue. They are also great at learning your system and business to customize the solution around such. My salesrep also has been great, Colin always reaches out to check in and see how things are going...you dont see that often with other vendors/solutions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I cant say that I have found anything I dislike about Druva yet so far in my journey with them. Everything has been smooth so far! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Druva has been very much worry free for our small I.T. department. No more worrying about backup media. Once we set the policies it just worked, and we tune it quarterly. Outside of that, it is totally hands off. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
For a small organization like us, Druva is on the expensive side. We could likely achieve a similar result with an open source or free option. However, right now we've decided the cost is worth the work and time saved. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Peace of mind. I was slow to adopt to "cloud" solutions, but it has been great thus far. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The interface was a little tricky at first to figure out between insync an phoenix interface at first. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Not only Druva have a great tech support team, they also have a great sales team that will work with you on saving money and getting you in touch with people in their team that can help you with every need. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
at first, i did not like how you navigate around Druva. now, we're a year into it, Druva made some improvements to make everything so much easier to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
That its web based and handles both backups and offsite storage of said backups in one product. Would have needed 2 solutions with Veeam Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The reports aren't straight forward. I just want to see an email that simply says if backups were successful or not. I don't need all that other bs Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I liked that there was no additional equipment involved with this product, since it is agent-based it was easy to install and configure. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Licensing model is a bit confusing. No downsides. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Druva Phoenix simple to set up and it has worked for us when we needed it. We moved from another well known cloud backup system that didn't allow us as much control for what we had to back up. Also restoring those back ups were not easy. Druva Phoenix addressed those issues and also it cost us significantly less.
All you have to do is install the client and your server can be backed up for file or whole system recovery. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
You have to watch your back up storage growth as even with de-duped data, your storage can increase significantly when added to your back up environment. I wish the DRaaS solution was more robust so we could just turn on a downed server in the cloud. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
How Druva used to be in the past, as in, an early adopter of cloud infrastructure and a reasonable product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We were pushed away by Druva as a customer on multiple different accounts: first, our "unlimited" plan for backups turned out to not be unlimited. When asked about this, Druva's response was that we should delete stuff, which makes no sense. There was no option to simply pay more for extra storage, as this was already the unlimited plan. On Phoenix specifically, they started charging us as soon as a contract was signed, well before a single bit was backed up. We were paying for many TBs of backups before we started using the product. Then Druva started discontinuing features that were important to us with no workarounds. We will never be using them again. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The speed the backups are taken really amazes me. Not sure how they do this but backups are taken quickly and silently. No user interaction needed after setting it up. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Some features or options can be a bit hidden and need a few clicks to get to. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Great communication during roll out. Handoff from CDW > Druva sales > Druva support was handled really well. Was kept in the loop and always had access to the personnel needed. Support was knowledgeable about specific issues and provided immediate solutions as we set up Phoenix to handle VMWare and SQL backups. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Initial credit allocation was confusing. Should work out since credits are supposed to roll over. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
