It is simple to use and easy to install. Once set up, it runs automatically and keeps backing up my system. There is a log review that allows me to see if each backup completed successfully and a detailed log view that shows me what was successfully backed up and what if any failures occurred.

Performing a RESTORE is very easy also, I am able to navigate to the files or directory path I want restored and have the option to restore to original file locations or to an alternate location, even to an alternate device. I can access the backups from my phone using the iDrive APP as well. The product is very easy to use.

The software is set up to perform automatic updates. I do not have to manage it at all. I just use my system as usual, and backups of MY files and content happen without any intervention on my part. Additionally, I am able to use the application (on my computer) to manually initiate a backup should I want to do that. I have used that feature periodically when I transfer large volume of files onto my system to ensure that the backup takes place rather than waiting.

I have not figured out how to use the "versioning" - to retrieve a specific version of a file. In the setup it appears that the service will keep a history of changes of some number of iterations of modifications to a file as backups occur. I do not know how to access prior versions of a file. Ease of setup and the ease to make changes such as adding or removing folders selected for backup. As a System Administrator for my job it was nice to see how easy personal backups can be. I also like the detailed notices of the backups completing when scheduled. I have that for what I use at work and it is nice to see it with IDrive as well. All told I think I was up and running within 15 minutes of downloading the product. The upload time was really very good. Nearly full internet speeds on my uploads and there was no delay in processing. I set it up for continuous nightly backups and have seen that after the first one took place, I have no issue completing them within an hour of the job starting. I have not noticed a single downside with the IDrive product. I know there is a limit to the space I can use for the tier I purchased. I came from Carbonite after being there for more than 10 years. I found that while Unlimited backups sound good in theory actually getting your data back is the next issue. If what I have seen so far I doubt that will be an issue with IDrive. IDrive was honestly the easiest online backup system I've used!

Primarily I was drawn to the good price compared to more traditional Google, Dropbox etc. systems, as there was nothing comparable to the quantity vs price of TB's you get with IDrive

I did extensive research before I purchased, and one thing I saw a few times was some reviews saying it was slow to upload, but I had no issues at all and was super fast - to be fair this has ore to do with your ISP than IDrive making it slow...

It was super easy to create folders and organise everything as I would on my laptop or external hard drives

My main reason for buying this is I wanted a backup that was online to avoid relying solely on external hard drives for all my work, photos, and to backup my laptop.

I also bought this just before going overseas to again negate the need to take any hards drives with me.

I was looking for a reasonably-priced backup solution that would perform cloud backup up all my important personal files and multimedia from my Windows PC. IDrive absolutely met all of my requirements. I wanted a product that would automatically backup the files on a set schedule. It must be easy to setup and perform incremental backups (only files that are new or have been changed) quickly.

Product installation was quick and easy and the interface is intuitive and very easy to use. The initial backup of about 93GB of data only took less than 45 minutes using high speed internet. Very impressive performance. Every night it backs up about 2.5GB of changed data without fail and sends me a status report email to notify me of the backup results. I don't like that the Fedora Linux app doesn't allow you to transfer files to disk. The Fedora Linux app is only for backup, while I have to transfer my own files, such as photos, via the website. I wanted cloud storage solution orignally for my NAS backups, but then found the pricing for cloud storage was amazing for the qty i needed. Being available to have my data in one place helped alot, and the integration with my nas. Pricing for both cost me under £55 and i have 1 TB for NAS backups, and i have 500GB for my data which is more than enough, but now im able to drop my google photo's in there saving me on 3 cloud storage costs. It was easy to use, implementation was simple enough, on Mac OS, windows and android phone, i can even use a compatible s3 app to view the NAS backups, and access my security footage as required while on the go. Its a shame idrive online doesnt have integration with google photos for it to pull the pictures from my account, so i dont have to download what i want keep to transfer to idrive. I had a different provider due to this previously but they removed the feature, meaning i had to transfer remaining photo's manually. I can see this product is aimed more at businesses than home use. I’ve been using IDrive for a while and I really like how stable it is. I mainly use it to make backups, and whenever I needed to restore individual files, it worked perfectly. The upload speeds are good, and the prices are quite affordable compared to other services.
