Company has been very responsive in helping to set up the first few computers - 1 server and 2 workstations so far - and support seems to be readily available when I need it. The other day I had a very good session that went over some of the finer points of the product. All backups performed so far have been flawless (there was on glitch within a day of setup, that resolved itself automatically before I even noticed it, this doesn't count). Machine performance hit(s) do not seem to be noticeable. A local (loopback) web host instantly shows you status of that machine's backup, and the management console is reasonably clear. Since the product is complex by nature, I have no complaints in that regard. Cove also seems to co-exist very well with existing on-site backup programs. In this case EaseUS Todo Backup Enterprise and GoodSync backup (yes, all three at once). **What do you dislike about Cove Data Protection?** So far, I see no operational downside to using Cove backup so far. As for the cost, it's a bit pricey. It provides an easy view for all machines, including, charts for different topics (such as backups completed and devices on Cove) and the filtering system is really easy to use, helping me find devices easily. **What do you dislike about Cove Data Protection?** One downside of cove data protection is the error page. The backup error page lists errors that have occurred during backups, and gives me a reason for failure, but there is no potential solution to this issue. I have to copy the error, and paste it into google, often reccommending me sites that aren't N-able's support page. **What problems is Cove Data Protection solving and how is that benefiting you?** Cove Data protection gives our companies/customers an extra line of security for their files, system states, and SQL databases. We know that in case of a disaster, user error, or basic server backups, our customers are protected and have a fail safe. Its dashboard is easy to navigate and all the information is easy to review. I'm able to navigate and load information I need without requiring a lot of training. The speed at which everything loads is also nice. I can safely say that this is one of the best products in the market from a GUI and user experience. We're able to give our clients access to self managed if needed which is a great bonus. **What do you dislike about Cove Data Protection?** Cove Backup offers services for M365, servers, and workstations, and performs these tasks effectively. One notable issue is their pricing structure. Having used this product for over 8 years, it appears that N-ABLE prioritises their own profits, which reduces flexibility for MSPs. While a higher price can be justified for a quality product, N-ABLE's pricing tests the boundaries of what is acceptable. There are also significant space limitations with their server and workstation backups, making them less competitive as competitor offerings are priced at least 50% lower than N-ABLE. They've implemented the Enhanced Retention Policies UI, which has significantly improved the customization of retention policies. **What do you dislike about Cove Data Protection?** When you back up a hypervisor like Microsoft Hyper-V and need to recover a single file from a VM, it requires installing a virtual drive that is set to the local drive letter B:. This virtual drive has read access to the backups and cannot be removed without a host reboot, which isn't always possible in a production environment. **Recommendations to others considering Cove Data Protection:** I recommend SolarWinds Backup because it has a very effeicient compression method. **What problems is Cove Data Protection solving and how is that benefiting you?** IT is an efficient cloud Backup for all situation. We've put it fully to the test in the aftermath of a Category 5 Hurricane, and successfully recovered every single one of our Partners impacted by the storm either to alternate hardware/sites or directly to the cloud using restores to Microsoft Azure. From day-to-day needs such as recovery of deleted files to "nightmare" scenarios like data loss or malware/ransomware, we've not yet had a scenario where Cove was able to facilitate recovery if the data was being backed up and protected. ### 27. The implementation is really made super simple and ingrates seamlessly with my RMM portal. We have much less failure tickets to deal with compared to solutions in the past. The backups just seem to work! Installation is very simple and can be done with scripting. They also offer both on-premise and cloud backups in one solution so you have one dashboard to monitor all your backups in one place instead of multiple tools. With backup policys, retention policies, and policies to backup specific applications or folders. Disaster recovery tools like boot testing and continuous restores are reasonably priced and reliable. We've had very few backup failures. It runs smoothly 99% of the time. You can access detailed logs and information about the endpoint and any failures. Also able to bulk run endpoint backup commands to manage every aspect of cove across multiple machines. **What do you dislike about Cove Data Protection?** The only downside is lack of alerting at the moment however notifications are currently in beta and seem to be working to resolve this but its not quite there yet. Unlike on-premise backup and recovery which takes time and effort to set up and then more time and effort for tweaks after. I also like mow modular the solution is, providing me just enough for what I need because some solutions will provide you with lots of features that you will not use. I don't know how it works exactly but the partnership with Microsoft is outstanding. I can simply integrate my Microsoft services such as Teams and Onedrive in a few clicks unlike others that need additional steps and API integrations that sometimes doesn't work. **What do you dislike about Cove Data Protection?** Support is one thing I recommend Cove can improve. I don't have any problems when recovering because they know it's crucial and you can simply call a number and someone will assist you. However, my concern is for any technical problems aside from a recover. It sometimes take 5 hours, even a whole before someone responds to a ticket I created. Support when recovering is highly appreciated but for other concerns, we can at least have a chat or something so I can get some answers right away. **What problems is Cove Data Protection solving and how is that benefiting you?** One of the pain points we have is lack of storage and human resource to manage storage. Cove only takes minutes to deploy after initial customer setup. The viewing of data reports is extremely detailed yet easy to understand. File restoration and image resotration is a breeze and has been 100% reliable when we've had to use it. **What do you dislike about Cove Data Protection?** The only downside I've had to get used to is that there is not real local backup although you backup as a mirror of the cloud backup, onto a local Nas device. My other issue that is related to this is that being the "local" is a 100% mirror of what is in the cloud, it can often take up your enitre local nas storage space.
