For VMware, agentless backup process works efficiently and reduce overhead on vm. 
Backup and restore process is straightforward and centralized dashboard gives clear visibility of jobs across all workloads
Automated backups with different policy reduce manual effort and enabling faster with more precise recovery.
It's a good solution for organization managing both SaaS and onprem environment.
Hycu support has responsive and helpfull when we encountered issues.
Hycu provides strong integration with vmware allowing to manage backup from single dashboard
Pricing is straightforward and user based, flexible, lower upfront cost

**What do you like best about HYCU?**

I find HYCU really simple to use for backing up all of our virtual machines both to a local device and into the cloud, giving us on-site and off-site backups. It's simple for our technical team to use and integrates seamlessly with Nutanix. The support we've received from HYCU has been excellent. It's a great addition to the final product we offer to our customers, ensuring their machines are safely backed up. Setting it up with HYCU was really easy as they worked closely with our technical team.

**What do you dislike about HYCU?**

I honestly don't think there's anything that could be added. Perhaps a mobile phone app that would report successful backups that we can have a quick look at.

**What problems is HYCU solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find HYCU makes it simple to back up virtual machines both locally and to the cloud. It provides on-site and off-site backups, integrates seamlessly with Nutanix, and is easy for our technical team to use.

**What do you like best about HYCU?**

Integrates and works with Nutanix seamlessly. Performs well backing up quickly and ensures we hit all our backup and restore targets. 

The user interface is smooth and easy to navigate, information you need is easy to find and never far away.

When needed we have found the technical support staff to really know the product and solve our issue or answer our query first time..

**What do you dislike about HYCU?**

The only downside we have found in our years of using HYCU is how it backs up physical servers in our environment. We don't have many of them but they are not differentiated in the UI from the virtual servers, and backing up a server with a large disk that is less than 20% full still takes a very long time.

**What problems is HYCU solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We replaced a legacy backup system that was hard to manage due to an overly complicated UI and a very old fashioned outlook on how backups should work. It relied on a lot of training and could only really be understood by a couple of people.

We were able to replace this with a fresh modern backup system that takes a different approach to backups while still allowing us to fully protect our data with local and offsite/cloud backups. Now a large number of people are able to field backup/restore calls with minimal training or instructions. 

The integration with our Nutanix system is second to none. Not needing to install or update agents regularly saves time and effort that we used to have to do regularly to keep our backup system up to date. Maintenance is now simple and much less of an issue.

The savings we have made by moving from a legacy provider have been a nice side effect.

**What do you like best about HYCU?**

I like that HYCU is simple and continually just works with very few issues over 5 years. I appreciate the delegation of roles and data access within Office 365 backups, allowing other team members or non-technical people to access their data, so they can restore their own data. The interface in HYCU is simpler to configure and maintain compared to Veeam. The initial setup was very easy, with HYCU support assisting us; it was up and running in minutes.

**What do you dislike about HYCU?**

Until recently, upgrading the Nutanix on-prem software could be a little time-consuming, requiring manual downloading and uploading of images. There has been a recent update to make this much smoother now.

**What problems is HYCU solving and how is that benefiting you?**

HYCU is simple and just works for backups of Nutanix and Office 365. It allows me to delegate roles, letting end users restore their own data, ensuring fewer issues over 5 years.

Completing the HYCU Admin Certification has been an excellent experience that significantly enhanced my understanding of modern data protection and hybrid-cloud backup strategies.
The course materials were clear and informative, covering everything from initial deployment and configuration to advanced monitoring, automation, and troubleshooting. I especially appreciated the hands-on labs, which allowed me to gain confidence working with the HYCU platform in realistic scenarios.

A very strong immutable backup solution, there are few natively immutable solutions on the market, and this is without a doubt a strong contender. The rapid recovery times are a huge factor for this too.
All of this if designed from the ground up with ease of use and implementation in mind.

Hycu fully support all objects or restore operations

I have a plethora of SaaS apps which other backup solutions do not support, Hycu was my only option. However, Hycu is not acting like a last resort but is infact acting like it should be peoples first choice. Providing second to none capabilities and a fantastic ease of use throughout and was plain and simple to set up.

Hycu is simple to set up. It’s easy to create profiles and add additional backup options as needed.

The Nutanix update process feels a bit clunky. I have to upload the image, rename it, and then run the update. (NB: I believe this has changed for future updates.)

Multi-platform backups. We have multiple sites with different technologies, and HYCU brings all our backups under one roof, which makes them easier to manage and keep consistent across environments.

One of HYCU’s biggest strengths is how seamlessly it integrates with platforms like Nutanix, leveraging native snapshots instead of relying on heavy agents or clunky legacy workflows. This not only reduces overhead but also makes backup operations remarkably fast and lightweight. Recovery has become equally streamlined on what used to take hours is now accomplished in minutes with clean, intuitive restore options that don’t require digging through layers of unnecessary menus.

The user experience is another standout feature. HYCU’s intuitive workflows make it incredibly easy to configure policies, manage protection groups, and monitor backup status without needing deep-dive training or certification. **What do you like best about HYCU?**

I use HYCU for controlled back-ups of our mission critical Atlassian SaaS platform, and I really appreciate the ability to control on which platform and geolocations our back-ups are kept. The best feature for us is definitely the ability to perform granular restores. If a small piece of critical information is deleted in our Atlassian Cloud instance, we can restore that specific piece of information without needing to do a full platform restore, which would otherwise have a large operational impact. Also, the initial setup of HYCU was very easy and intuitive.

**What do you dislike about HYCU?**

I wish they supported more SaaS platforms so that we can get the same experience for those products.

**What problems is HYCU solving and how is that benefiting you?**

HYCU allows me to control backups of our Atlassian SaaS platform, choose where they're kept, and perform granular restores, minimizing operational impact when restoring specific data.

HYCU integrates great with Nutanix and is very straightforward to use and set up. 

The customer support team consistently responds quickly and provides helpful, relevant information to solve our issues.

**What do you dislike about HYCU?**

I find myself missing certain features that are present in some of HYCU's competitors.
One example is restoring Active Directory users directly from HYCU, which unfortunately is not possible.

We run a Nutanix cluster in our datacenter, hosting 200+ virtual machines for different customers in varying sizes.
HYCU gives us peace of mind that all workloads are properly protected and easily recoverable, without the need for constant manual checks or complex configurations. The tight integration with Nutanix makes backup and recovery feel like a natural part of the environment, rather than an extra task to manage. It just works,  and that lets us focus on delivering value to our customers instead of worrying about backups.

HYCUs integration with Nutanix made our backups simple and clean.  The system performs well matching a pricing point that we thought was great for the solution.

We found the integration to back up physical servers was not intuitive, but we did manage to get it going.

I use HYCU for backups of our Nutanix clusters, and I appreciate the ease compared to clunky backup software like Veeam. HYCU just works flawlessly so far, and I love that I haven't had to kill any hung-up jobs. I don't have to constantly monitor it to see if it's doing its job. The ease of setup is fantastic, and I like how it integrates with AWS. It makes it valuable to me because I just don't have to micromanage it.

**What do you like best about HYCU?**

It works natively with Nutanix AHV. Simple to deploy and manage. It just works. If it doesn't, support is very quick to respond and stays with you until you are happy the issue is resolved.

**What do you dislike about HYCU?**

Scheduling jobs is only able to be done by days and hours when certain jobs are allowed to run via policies. You cannot set a static time or day when a job runs. When you schedule archives and validation, the entire job with all sub jobs has to complete within your day time window to be considered compliant. The next jobs starts earlier than it did previously so that it can complete before the compliance requirements causing jobs to run earlier and earlier in your scheduling window. Unless you have a window that is every day of every week you will eventually fall out of compliance for jobs here and there.

**What problems is HYCU solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With a small team, it removes the worry about my backups of all my Windows and Linux servers, virtual appliances and cloud servers. It is easy to monitor and maintain. Updating the system is done in just a few clicks making maintenance a breeze.

We absolutely appreciate HYCU for several key reasons. We would like to see the 3-2-1 backup rule implemented in HYCU. Currently, I am limited to performing a single copy of a backup within a backup policy.

**What do you like best about HYCU?**

I love how HYCU acts as a single product that backs up our entire SaaS portfolio, making it much easier to manage all backups in a single pane of glass. It's incredibly valuable for giving us control over our data in the event of a SaaS outage. I also appreciate that it's a very comprehensive and fully featured product. The support team has been super helpful and excellent in assisting with the setup.

It's a very comprehensive and fully-featured product, which means it's not the most intuitive.

**What problems is HYCU solving and how is that benefiting you?**

HYCU backs up my entire SaaS portfolio, making it easy to manage with a single pane of glass. It exceeds the backup offerings of SaaS providers, helps us meet ISO27001, and gives us control over data during SaaS outages.

**What do you like best about HYCU?**

The software stands out for its simplicity and its seamless native integration with the Nutanix platform we use, which is excellent. Setting it up is quick and straightforward, and upgrading is incredibly easy—something they've improved even further in the latest version.

What I appreciate most, though, is that it genuinely feels like Hycu is committed to improving their software. Their customer service is responsive, and we've found it easy to resolve the few issues we've encountered.

We are using both the On-prem version to backup our virtual servers and also the Microsoft 365 version to safeguard and backup our M365 environment.

**What do you dislike about HYCU?**

It seems that fewer individuals and organizations use Hycu compared to products like Veeam or Commvault, which means there is less user-generated information available online. As a result, you mostly have to depend on Hycu's own resources and Wikipedia for information.

**What problems is HYCU solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This product takes away the headache of managing backups and makes it easy to implement the 3-2-1 backup best practices.

It is easy to learn and administer.  It works as promised. I use it in a Nutanix environment, and it has been the best backup software. Ease of use is a no brainer anyone can learn it. It has all the features most for free where we have to pay for other vendors.

Hycu is easy to use, easy to maintain as a product. The interface is simple and with little knowledge you can set it up with help from a great partner. Their support also makes problem solving easy and their skilful knowledge makes problem disappear like snow for the sun. The number of connected platforms also grows with the time, making it a go to central SaaS backup solution.

**What do you dislike about HYCU?**

The logs showing the errors sometimes require a more in-depth knowledge to resolve, making it so sometimes one needs to contact Hycu for something that in hindsight was very simple if the error was a little clearer.

Hycu allows us to make on-demand as well as frequent back-ups of our data that the SaaS platform itself does not allow. It also allows us to use our own storage making it so we are in control of the data and not a middle person.

I like the easy way to manage, control, and monitor. The support team is also very competent and always happy to help. I once had a task I was unsure about since I had just started at a company where it is used heavily. I asked about it in a low-priority ticket, and half an hour later, I was on a call with one technician and one of their leads, who gave me a short workshop explaining the task I needed to do and the different mechanics. That was a first for me with any backup provider I have used in my career.

One thing I don’t like is that the web UI can feel very clunky, especially if you have a lot of elements or a big report open.

The product itself is wonderful to use.  It functions very well in our enviornment, and rarely produces an issue that can't be resolved immediately or with a quick consultation with the HYCU support staff.  We have tested it for local and off-site backups against our Nutanix environment.  All of our attempts to restore data, whether whole VMs or individual files were successful, whether the source was local or off-site.  Our experience from initial on-boarding of the product, daily use, upgrades, and working with the HYCU support personnel have all been excellent.

**What do you dislike about HYCU?**

The environment we have in production connects to our Nutanix AHV cluster without issue, however it would be nice to also have Hyper-V or Proxmox support.  We run other clusters which are not yet supported so we have to use a different backup strategy in order to protect workloads on non-Nutanix environments.

**What problems is HYCU solving and how is that benefiting you?**

HYCU directly solves our need to backup a diverse set of virtual machines across a multi-tenant environment.  The ability to customize policies and direct sets of virtual machines to specific targets is invaluable to us in ensuring our customer's data is protected and available should we receive any requests for data recovery.

Easy to setup backup policies which takes care of scheduling for you, big improvement over past backup systems we've used where the schedule has to be manually setup to cover all of your VMs.
Comes with some inexpensive add-ons that allow for Disaster Recovery setup
Works with a lot of different targets for backups and DR, both on-premise and in the cloud.

**What do you dislike about HYCU?**

When it has an error, its usually pretty tough to debug.  But support is great and probably will have a solution.
Can be very chatty and fill up your inbox with warnings, errors, etc.

Mailnly, HYCU handles backing up our on-premise Nutanix AHV environment to a local target, and sending a copy up to immutable cloud storage.  It's part of our overall disaster recovery solution as well, which involves being able to transfer backup from the Wasabi backup storage to Azure.

HYCU is a product that we've been using for a long time to back up our Nutanix cluster. It's been rock solid in terms of its performance and reliability. Whenever there has been an issue, their support team has been able to provide a quick turnaround to resolve it. The UI is intuitive and simple to use. The Protege feature was a fantastic addition that plays well into our DR strategy, allowing us to spin up any of our mission-critical VMs into Azure if and when required. We love that there is a full API set, which we use to extract data and provide reporting into custom Power BI Dashboards. We have been performing monthly restore testing for files, SQL DBs, and full VMs for the last few years, and all have been successful. The great thing about this product is that we don't need to log on to check it every day, we know that it just continues to work, and our reporting dashboard verifies this. That it backs up our data directly to Azure is a huge win, allowing us to keep all our data offsite.

**What do you dislike about HYCU?**

I can't think of anything that doesn't work well with this product. I could only make a suggestion that it would be a very helpful feature to develop some automation workflows that allow our restore testing to be conducted automatically. Datto has a feature where it sends a screenshot of the console of a VM that was backed up, showing the temporary restore of the VM, and verifying that it was a working backup. Otherwise, no issues!

**What problems is HYCU solving and how is that benefiting you?**

HYCU allows us to backup all of our mission critical servers, while simultaneously providing a mechanism for DR with the Protege feature.

There's a couple of things that require a more hands-on approach, but that's mostly due to our infrastructure limitations. Yet hycu managed to deal with every possible scenarios.

HYCU's DPaaS is extremely easy to acquire, implement, use, manage, and report. Implementing DPaaS for Microsoft Azure workloads has been a big win for our company, providing immutable backups for our Cloud workloads.

**What do you dislike about HYCU?**

HYCU DPaaS sometimes can encounter bugs and failed backups. HYCU support has been responsive, but sometime if there is a service, API, or Azure error, it is difficult to ultimately pin point the reason for a failure.

**What problems is HYCU solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Implementing HYCU DPaaS has allowed us to have a common backup solution across On-Prem, SaaS M365, and now IaaS workloads in Azure. We can have a uniform backup platform, without having a Windows Server hosting the backup software, without having to manage and maintain the lifecycle of the backup application, and we have moved to an "as-a-Service" solution.

HYCU Backups give us the ability to index, search, and have immutable backups, which are a huge benefit over native Azure Backups.

As a new user to both HYCU and Nutanix, I have been impressed by the HYCU backup solution. The ease of use in not only setting up and scheduling backups but also upgrading the software is outstanding. The user interface is intuitive, making it simple to configure backup policies, monitor performance, and recover data with minimal effort. The deep integration with Nutanix makes it particularly seamless, allowing for efficient data protection without the need for complex configurations. Additionally, the automation features reduce manual tasks, saving both time and effort. Overall, HYCU’s simplicity, reliability, and integration capabilities stand out the most for me.

**What do you dislike about HYCU?**

While HYCU offers a user-friendly and seamless backup experience, there are a few drawbacks. One limitation is its lack of support for tape libraries, which means we cannot integrate it with our existing tape robot for long-term storage or archival purposes. Additionally, more advanced users may find the customisation options somewhat limited, especially if managing a diverse infrastructure beyond Nutanix. These constraints can be a challenge for organisations with broader backup requirements.

HYCU is solving the challenge of managing complex backup environments by offering a simple, integrated solution for Nutanix platforms.
