What do you like best about Xero?

What’s been most helpful about Xero for me is how easy the platform is to navigate. As someone who had no experience with it—let alone with accounting or finance—I was able to get up to speed quickly and understand how everything works. That alone says a lot about how user-friendly it is. They also have a great support team, which, honestly, is rare to find, especially with a popular platform. What do you dislike about Xero?

The biggest problem that Xero is fixing is the part where all the bills that I have paid are all over the place and for me to make sure that everything is traceable across my bank transactions, Xero helps me by already suggesting matched bills. What do you like best about Sage Intacct?

You can customize pretty much everything, which helps the software work the way our business needs it to. We rely on a lot of smart rules to link data together, and that flexibility makes a big difference in day-to-day workflows. There are also a ton of integrations available. For example, we integrate Ramp for AP and Ripping for payroll. Lastly, the intercompany accounting is great: we can pay bills from any entity, and the intercompany engine handles the work of allocating expenses to the correct entity, regardless of where the bills are paid. What do you dislike about Sage Intacct?

The fixed asset module is not internally developed, and it feels clunky and not very intuitive. We are in the real estate business and have a lot of fixed assets, and we’ve struggled to find solutions that work well for our workflow. They also seem slow to roll out new features. I understand they are working on a new, internally developed fixed asset platform that will be fully integrated with the Sage workflow, but it hasn’t been rolled out yet, and I believe it has been well over a year—possibly two. I don't like how some features are so different from similar features. An example of this is that AR invoices can be unposted but not AP invoices. I would love more dashboard reports.

I wish they would integrate more things without it costing so much for us cause Unanet gets a lot qtrly from us and everyone already.

What do you like best about QuickBooks Online?

The functionality is there for managing the books for small local businesses, alongside an accounting firm for year-ends, etc. When I need more functionality, I utilize the Zapier integration or the extensive API service. QBO also has a pretty broad range of third parties it integrates with natively. I end up saving time and making fewer mistakes by automating my basic tasks. What do you dislike about QuickBooks Online?

The web version of QBO is the most reliable. I find the iOS/iPad versions to be buggy and slow, particularly, the bank transactions. Loading is slow, and working with the categorizing functionality is incomplete. While the interface is limited due to the size of some devices, more options could be available via menus. What problems is QuickBooks Online solving and how is that benefiting you?

When we moved from a sole prop to a corp, we needed double-entry accounting, and at the time, our current platform didn't support it. Due to the reputation that QBO had, we decided to try it. It connects with our banks reasonably simply, although errors do come up a few times a month. The support teams are pretty good at documenting the issue and providing updates and resolutions, too. - A lot of the material in the Learning Hub and help documentation is outdated. Trying to follow the steps is often guesswork as they no longer relate to the current system

- it seems that sharing ideas to the Idea Portal is of no use. There are many great ideas that seem to be simple fixes but have been sitting there for literal years.

- known defects within the system take a long time to be resolved

I love that Acumatica is truly cloud-based, making accessibility seamless for our global teams. Its intuitive web interface makes onboarding new employees quick, and the scalability means we can grow without being handcuffed by the ERP system. What do you dislike about Acumatica?

Honestly, there isn’t much to dislike, but the process of migrating from our old system was complex, especially consolidating customers from multiple databases. Integrating new acquisitions and handling multi-currency, multi-tenant setups required extra effort and some creative workarounds, but Acumatica’s flexibility helped us address these challenges. Scalability and flexibility are the biggest strengths for us. Because of features like attributes, we’ve been able to design the underlying data structure so it can live in both big and small buckets, depending on what we need. What do you like best about Rillet?

Starting from implementation the experience was amazing! I've been part of ERP implementation projects that have taken 12+ months, whereas we were live in ~9 weeks. The implementation team was really knowledgeable and took the time to understand our processes and help us design / build the system that would scale with us.

We've been able to reduce our timeline to reconcile cash from 5 days to 1 day leveraging cash rules and AI-enabled cash matching automation. This as well as the native subledgers for previously manually tracked prepaids, fixed assets, and deferred revenue, have allowed us to reduce our month-end close timeline from 12-14 business days down to 5-6 business days.

Also, the customer support team at Rillet is fantastic! They do a great job of listening to customers, understanding pain points, and offering solutions at an incredible pace. I've worked with other software solutions where it's nearly impossible to get a hold of a support team member, so this was definitely a game-changer. The UI/UX is overall really clean and easy to use. That said, there are a few improvements that could make simple drill-downs or filtering data a bit easier and more intuitive. Since it’s a newer platform, there are definitely areas that can still be refined, but whenever I’ve raised something with our support team, they’ve been great about taking feedback seriously and offering a solution. This includes Costpoint Enterprise Reporting or Business Intelligence because the filter prompts are sometimes confusing and cannot be used quickly and efficiently. Costpoint is a leader in project-based reporting. It is easy to manage all types of transactions by projects, report on them and still be able to easily use the same data for US GAAP reporting. Being able to automatically burden project costs and compute revenue is invaluable to CAS compliance while being able to provide transparency to external auditors, including DCAA. We were able to use the Pools functionality to automate intercompany eliminations, taking days off our close cycle while making the underlying data more agile for re-orgs or historical reporting. FreshBooks is straightforward and I mostly use it for invoicing, expense tracking and project tracking. The interface feels clean and easy to navigate and I haven’t run into anything confusing. I’ve connected it with Zapier and google Drive to mange my files and automate small updates, which keeps things moving without much effort.
