"Intuitive, High-ROI Communication That Speeds Engineering Resolutions"
What do you like best about Rocket.Chat?

It is very intuitive and has been the single best form of communication for our engineers, outside of face to face meetings. We have built a Confluence page to explain appropriate use, so that we don't end up with 'channel sprawl', where it becomes hard to find the best channel for quick comms. Complex technical problems can be discussed by a wide audience very quickly and it avoids the need for VC calls, which can take up a lot of time as the debate often broadens to encompass much wider topics. It really droves optimum performance and speed to resolution. It is well priced for an organisation of our size and the ROI has been evident for quite some time. We rarely have issues with the product and, when we do, the support quality and response times have been very good. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Rocket.Chat?

There is little to dislike. A small challenge is the process by which users can clear open messages, it just seems to be a few too many steps each time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Rocket.Chat: Flexible, Secure, and Built for Custom Workflows"
What do you like best about Rocket.Chat?

What stands out most about Rocket.Chat is how much control and flexibility it gives teams compared to typical messaging tools. You’re not locked into a one-size-fits-all setup—you can self-host it, customize workflows, and integrate it with the systems you already use, which is especially valuable in environments that handle sensitive data.Another big plus is its focus on security and compliance. Features like end-to-end encryption and granular permissions make it a strong option for healthcare or support teams that need to be mindful of privacy standards while still collaborating efficiently.

It’s also very versatile in day-to-day use. You can manage internal chats, customer conversations, and even support tickets all in one place. That kind of consolidation reduces the need to jump between platforms, which can really streamline communication and improve response times.

Overall, it’s the combination of customization, security, and all-in-one functionality that makes it stand out. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Rocket.Chat?

One drawback of Rocket.Chat is that the flexibility it offers can also make it more complex to set up and maintain—especially if you’re self-hosting. Teams without strong technical support may find the initial configuration and ongoing updates a bit demanding.

Another issue is that the user interface can feel less polished compared to more mainstream tools. Navigation isn’t always as intuitive, and some features take extra steps to access, which can slow down day-to-day workflows.

Performance can also be inconsistent at times, particularly with larger deployments or when there are many integrations running. Occasional lag or syncing delays can impact real-time communication.

Lastly, while it supports many integrations, setting them up isn’t always straightforward, and documentation can sometimes lack clarity. This can make it harder to fully leverage the platform without trial and error. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Highly Customizable and Integrable Business Chat"
What do you like best about Rocket.Chat?

I appreciate Rocket.Chat for making collaboration with my team easy and its high level of customization for integrations. I like its ability to bridge with other chat systems like Slack and Microsoft Teams, which allows for continuity in communication. I also value the option for full customization and the ability to self-host, making it versatile for our needs. Overall, it seamlessly links with other chat services, so teams using different platforms don’t need to switch entirely to Rocket.Chat, which is a big plus. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Rocket.Chat?

Need more technical knowledge for self-hosting with all these connectivity and integrations. The initial setup was a bit hard to understand, even with the documentation available. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Good Team Chat Tool With Lots of Flexibility"
What do you like best about Rocket.Chat?

Iit gives a lot of freedom and control, it’s open‑source, you change many things to fit your own setup or security needs.

This is easy to use, and chatting in groups or one‑to‑one feels smooth. It also connects well with other tools we use, so daily work is simpler. it’s reliable and secure, and it feels like you actually own platform instead of depending fully on some outside service. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Rocket.Chat?

that some parts of the interface feel bit confusing first, for new users. A few settings are hidden too deep, so you need extra time to find the right options.

Integrations work fine but some need manual tweaking for to run smoothly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Self-Hosting Freedom, but Slow Perform"
What do you like best about Rocket.Chat?

I really like that we can self-host Rocket.Chat, which gives us full control over our data and privacy the marketplace for integrations is also a big plus for our team's workflow Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Rocket.Chat?

Sometimes the mobile application feels a bit sluggish, and it takes longer to load large files or high-resolution images. Also, the notification system needs more customization options Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Security-Focused, But Setup and Cost Are Challenging"
What do you like best about Rocket.Chat?

I appreciate Rocket.Chat's on-prem version because it solves security concerns for us. The security it offers is the main reason we chose it over other platforms. We handle very sensitive information, so it's crucial not to have employees sharing this information over online chat. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Rocket.Chat?

Communication from Rocket.Chat to us is lacking. They suddenly increased their pricing tremendously, which is incredibly unfair. The initial setup was not easy at all; it was very hard and very expensive to set up. Since it's an on-premise solution, you have to set it up on the server in the office and configure all the permissions and parameters around it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Cost-Effective Communication with Room for Improvement"
What do you like best about Rocket.Chat?

I use Rocket.Chat for daily communication with the freelancer community at my company. It's cost-effective, easy to use across all platforms, and it provides a solution for communication with a large number of users. The messaging in general is really good, and Rocket.Chat has been improving compared to 2022 with a new UI, new features, and a more stable environment for work communication. These improvements help make communication smooth and efficient. The initial setup of Rocket.Chat was easy, and inviting users was straightforward. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Rocket.Chat?

There's still a lot to improve. For example, the avatars' photo quality is cropped and blurred. I also find the text editor poor because we have to use Markdown, which is not efficient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Versatile Communication Tool with Data Control and Privacy"
What do you like best about Rocket.Chat?

I use Rocket.Chat for real-time private and public chats, and I appreciate how it allows me to share screens and files easily. It solves my problems with data control and privacy by giving me full data ownership along with encryption and strict access. I like that it has a single omnichannel inbox, so I don't have to juggle WhatsApp, email, live chat, and other tools separately. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Rocket.Chat?

The initial setup for Rocket.Chat feels quite technical, which can be challenging, especially for teams without IT support. A simpler installation process with helpful wizards would make it easier. Also, the user interface, while functional, could use more polish. Smoother navigation and animations would enhance the overall user experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Easy to Use, Highly Customizable, and Great Dialogflow Integration"
What do you like best about Rocket.Chat?

It has been helpful for our clients. We’ve been using the Community edition, and we’re able to modify it to suit our use cases. It’s easy to use, and its integration with Google Dialogflow and an agentic architecture is a real boon. It’s also straightforward to deploy on our website, internal CRKs, WhatsApp, and other social media channels. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Rocket.Chat?

It’s still using an older version of MeteorJS, and because of that we aren’t able to integrate front-end enhancements easily. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Rocket.Chat: Full Control With Flexible Self-Hosting and Integrations"
What do you like best about Rocket.Chat?

What I like most about Rocket.Chat is the level of control it gives you, especially with the option to self-host. It’s great knowing that you own your data and can customize the platform based on your needs. The channels, direct messages, and file sharing make team communication straightforward, and it works well for both small teams and more structured setups. I also like how flexible it is when it comes to integrations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Rocket.Chat?

The setup and configuration can be a bit complex, especially if you don’t have much technical experience. The interface also isn’t as polished as some other chat tools, so it can take a little time to get used to. In some cases, performance depends a lot on how it’s hosted, and you might need to spend time maintaining it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Rocket chat had the voice message option but it was removed. Could it be reinstated or I will have to ask my company because it might be a case it was restricted by them?
