"A classic but needs some modernization"
2.5/5
What do you like best about Microsoft Word?

I like that unlike with google docs, it's easy to show and load work on word documents offline. Also, I used it growing up to work on it for school projects and assignments, so I am really familiar with all of the applications. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft Word?

The biggest downside is that besides the fact that Word can be used offline, google docs beats word by a large margin. For example, you cannot work at the same time on a word document. So Word can only be good for single-person projects. Also, I don't like how word looks when you allow other people to make edits or notes on it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Competent but not special"
2.5/5
What do you like best about Microsoft Word?

It's one of the most widely used word processors, so you can usually be sure that you'll have access to any commonly used file types that you need to use. For uncomplicated projects it has a very plain and unobtrusive layout with a decent commenting/editing system. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft Word?

Word is still, unfortunately, prone to crashes, freezing, and bugs, and I find the continuing attempt to push cloud saving onto software makes it frustrating when I'm attempting to figure out whether my work is auto saving where I want it to. It's also got a lot of formatting and layout tools that just aren't really its strength—it's best for just writing things out with no frills, not for assembling them into a printable book. "Microsoft Word is a bit outdated"
3/5
What do you like best about Microsoft Word?

Microsoft Word is the tool I've had the most experience with through school (from elementary through college and now as a professor). It is a decent solution for creating simple documents and/or manipulating a template to do create resumes, contracts, and other important documents. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft Word?

I believe Microsoft is outdated in its user interface and experience. It can be difficult to move images around, get their placement right on the page, and format the words on the page. I have struggled with this tool more recently than ever due to updates to Google docs and other softwares that allow more possibilities. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Aggressively Average Application - Word"
2.5/5
What do you like best about Microsoft Word?

Microsoft word makes it easy to start a document, do basic styling, and get results quickly. Generating a document is simple and the UI is user-friendly and intuitive. Since most companies have microsoft word you can expect most people to be able to open your documents. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft Word?

Microsoft word is a product that should have all its features free; word processors are not a complex problem. The cost is not justified for the features you get. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Good Basic Software, Lacks Some Functionality"
2.5/5
What do you like best about Microsoft Word?

Microsoft Word was the original word processing software with which I grew up. Therefore, it will always have a special place in my heart. It is easy to use for beginners and relatively intuitive. You can add images and other things to your documents as needed. Furthermore, you can format to an extent. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft Word?

In my opinion, Microsoft Word lacks the smoothness of collaboration that other word processing programs provide. It is more difficult to share, comment, and edit a document on which multiple people work. Also, it is not as easy to save the file and work on it on different computers or devices. "I only use Microsoft Word when I need to."
2.5/5
What do you like best about Microsoft Word?

It's a very comprehensive word processor. It has just about every feature & setting one could hope for. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft Word?

With so many features, the user interface becomes complicated & clunky. It's also "local" so there aren't many collaboration features (at least I haven't noticed). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
