&lt;p&gt;The double takeoff dies only when detailing happens in the same environment the estimate reads from, which is the real case for ESTmep and SysQue. Where quantities still drift is the design-to-fabrication seam, and it&#39;s structural: a design model carries allowances while a fabrication model carries parts, so the counts differ even when nobody made a mistake. Model schedules in Revit fix the re-tally problem within design stages, but that seam needs the constructible model to close it.&lt;/p&gt;
