**What do you like best about APS?**

Over the past three years, I have submitted numerous requests, and the response time has always been impressively fast. The staff demonstrates a strong understanding of everything related to APS, and if they are ever unsure about something, they make sure to find the answer promptly.

**What do you dislike about APS?**

Having worked with APS for nearly three years, I have yet to encounter anything worth complaining about. Although we did experience a minor issue with our scheduler, their team was able to resolve it and get everything running smoothly.

**What problems is APS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

There are so many positive aspects! As someone who is still fairly new to this role, I have really appreciated how they have guided me through every aspect of payroll. They have also made the process of Benefit renewal straightforward, which has helped me understand it better and explain it clearly to our employees.

**What do you like best about APS?**

APS provides a very intuitive interface that makes navigation simple even for new users. The platform is stable, reliable, and allows us to manage tasks smoothly without unnecessary complications. The reporting and tracking features are clear and useful, making it easier to follow progress and keep everything organized. Its ability to streamline processes saves both time and effort, which is one of the biggest advantages for daily operations.

While APS is a strong tool overall, there are areas where it could be improved. The customization options are somewhat limited, which means adapting it fully to specific workflows can take extra effort. At times, customer support response can be a bit slow when dealing with more complex issues. Additionally, integrations with third-party tools are functional but not always as seamless as expected, which can require additional manual work to bridge the gaps

**What problems is APS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

APS helps simplify and centralize our payroll and HR processes. Before implementing it, managing payroll, time tracking, and employee data required multiple systems and a lot of manual work, which created room for error. APS consolidates everything into one platform, making it easier to process payroll accurately, track attendance, and maintain compliance. This has saved our organization time, reduced administrative burden, and improved employee satisfaction because of more reliable and transparent processes. The ability to handle onboarding and benefits in the same system also helps us streamline workflows and reduce the complexity of managing our workforce.

I find the customer service from APS great. They are quick to help and respond to my inquiries. The initial setup of APS was also very smooth, which was a relief. I switched to APS because the previous company I used did not offer prepaid checks, which APS does, making it a more complete solution for my needs.

The best thing about APS is the customer service!  I was very new to my role and jumped in to APS with no training and they were so great to walk me through everything. They are there at almost ANY time and get back to me promptly.

**What do you dislike about APS?**

Some of the downsides is that it can be "clunky". As with everything there are some limitations, some make sense but some seems like there has got to be a better way.

**What problems is APS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I do not know what problems APS is solving. I still feel like I am still uncovering more things that it already does, I do like that they do listen to its users and try to make things better all the time.

Being assigned a "team" for your company.  We had 3 companies on APS program and each have their own challenges.  Nice to know the APS Team understands us!!

**What do you dislike about APS?**

Nothing I can identify.  They have supported us every time in a timely and professional manner.  I have referred APS to other businesses.  I have used other payroll products and still prefer APS overall

**What problems is APS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hoping to add recruiting and on-boarding in 2026.  Wish we would have an opportunity to use Benefit enrollment but a majority of our staffing is not on a consistent schedule.  In 2025 we added more auxiliary benefits and APS supported set up across three companies.
Appreciate the "end of year" timeline notices and how it tracks our progress.

quick responses from the help desk easy to use with our other software. integration is smooth.   user friendly for new users. company is very helpful when you are stuck in a situation and don't know where to go the get you to the correct person quickly.  great follow up on all  instances.

none its great everything works how it should, I would highly recommend to any company needing a payroll supplier.  I have not had any issue on anything I need.

overnight payroll check on the spot, I have used them for garnishments and tax issues. They have helped me with change of business addresses and employee tracking.

What I like best about APS,  is the way it transforms complex operations into a clear, efficient, and optimized process. For me, the biggest value is how APS not only improves accuracy in planning but also supports smarter decision-making, reduces bottlenecks, and ultimately drives better performance

This system has been a game-changer for us. Since the transition, our employees have been genuinely thrilled—it’s intuitive, efficient, and incredibly user-friendly. The support team is outstanding: responsive, knowledgeable, and consistently resolving issues on the first try. Unlike our previous experiences with Sage and Paycor, which required constant involvement from our IT team, this platform runs seamlessly with zero IT assistance.

I have no complaints about APS; it meets all of our requirements. There is nothing missing from the software, and I have never felt the need to request additional features or visit their wishlist to vote for changes. We are completely satisfied with it.

**What do you like best about APS?**

In July 2024, our company transitioned from our previous payroll provider to Automatic Payroll Systems, Inc. (APS). Our former provider struggled with poor customer service, frequent staff turnover, and system updates that regularly caused other features to break. After a year of attempting to resolve ongoing issues from a flawed implementation, we evaluated several Payroll and HRIS platforms before ultimately selecting APS.

From the initial demo through implementation and go-live, APS took the time to understand our business. They weren’t just focused on selling software—they were focused on building a relationship. Their team made a genuine effort to understand our unique needs and ensure we had the right functionality in place. We had a goal of consolidating multiple systems. APS worked with us patiently as we gradually added features such as APS Hire, Benefits Administration, ACA Hours Tracking, ACA Alerts and Reporting, and COBRA services.

The customer service after go-live has been outstanding. We have a dedicated support team that consistently responds to our tickets and inquiries within two business hours, which is a huge improvement over our previous experience. 

Approximately six months after implementation, we added even more APS services, including Benefits, ACA Alerts and Reporting, Carrier Connection, and COBRA. These additions significantly reduced manual work, minimized errors, and allowed us to consolidate even more systems under one platform. They also consistently add new updates or enhancements to their platform.

I would highly recommend APS to companies looking for more than just a vendor. With APS, you're not just a number—they truly care about their clients and continue to exceed my expectations.

**What do you dislike about APS?**

My company operates multiple locations, and each one must be set up independently within APS. I’d love to see enhanced functionality that supports bulk updates across all company profiles, which would save significant time and effort. Additionally, it would be incredibly helpful if APS allowed for bulk document uploads to employee profiles rather than requiring one-at-a-time submissions. Lastly, having a centralized dashboard to view Event Tracking and Employee Updates across all locations without having to log into APS and then select each company individually would greatly improve usability and efficiency. APS Online is not user-friendly on a mobile device; it would be helpful for admin users on the go to have better access and functionality.

**What problems is APS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Payroll Efficiency: APS streamlined our payroll process, reducing errors and saving valuable time each pay cycle.

All-in-One HR Platform: Consolidated multiple systems into one centralized platform, making it easier to manage employee data, onboarding, benefits, ACA reporting, COBRA, and more.

Improved Accuracy & Compliance Automated features (like ACA alerts and carrier connections) help reduce manual work, minimize errors, and keep us in compliance.

Exceptional Customer Support: Responsive support team typically replies within two business hours, providing consistent and dependable assistance.

Scalability with Add-Ons: APS allowed us to scale at our own pace by adding features gradually, based on our evolving business needs.

**What do you like best about APS?**

APS is a very friendly and intuitive package but the best thing about their company is the incredible customer service.  You get assigned to a specific team and you know their names and contact information.  It is easy to connect with them when you have an issue and they are very prompt at helping resolve it.  This is incredibly comforting because many times the issues are very time sensitive.  We don't have a lot of issues, but when we do we know they will help us resolve it.

**What do you dislike about APS?**

The interface has been vastly improved since we first started using it, but there is still room for further improvement in this area.  The current interface does not in any way diminish the software's capability and the user's ability to navigate.

**What problems is APS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Using APS helps us to handle our payroll and much of our HR process in a paperless manner.  This is more efficient and secure than using paper processes.

**What do you like best about APS?**

APS not only offers an easy-to-use product; their tutorials and safe-proof steps provide confidence that your payroll is done correctly.  I can't say enough about their customer service.  After using several payroll companies throughout the years, APS tops them all.  You receive immediate help and professional feedback from a real person.  Their follow-up to questions is amazing.  And best of all--regardless of who you speak with--they can help.  It's evident that they work as a team and in the best interest of the customer.

**What do you dislike about APS?**

From a small church or nonprofit to a large corporation, APS provides the software and tools to meet your needs. I wouldn't change a thing and wish more people could free up their time by using APS for their HR and Payroll needs.

**What problems is APS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

APS Payroll saves us time and money.  Their highly skilled employees are available from setup to whenever you need them.  We no longer have to worry about IRS and Year-End documents because they complete them.  Our payroll is now correct--every payday.

**What do you like best about APS?**

Ease of use. It's very intuitive. Plus, the setup was not painful like most new setup processes tend to be.  Implementation was easy. 
Very responsive customer service.
This is the first system I've felt comfortable enough to invest the time into integrating our Benefits and Open Enrollment process and other modules. 
We use APS for almost every function, so we use the system all day, every day.

**What do you dislike about APS?**

You have to log in every 5 minutes or so.  I wish we could change that time frame ourselves.

 "Notes" needs to be its own tab on the Employee profile.  When we terminate an employee, there is a place to add notes to elaborate on or add special circumstances. 

I would like to be able to create surveys to send to employees. A short "temp check" survey of our people would be fine.

I was told early on, "If there is a report that is not already pre-built in the Reporting section, or that you can't create on your own, we can build it for you".  I did not find out until just recently that there would be a cost of $150/per hour to build it.   The information pulls from reports already in the system, so I'm not sure why I couldn't just build a custom report and have access to that information to add to the criteria.

I love the ability to text or email all or some of our employees simultaneously. It would be nice if we had the ability to add an attachment to the emails, though.

I would also like the ability to input the data and then add a future date as an effective date  (e.g., wage increases).

I like having all of our programs in one collective resource.  It makes life a lot easier for all of us, including employees out on the floor.

**What do you like best about APS?**

APS provides the best customer service I have experienced with any company. By assigning a dedicated team to our account, they ensure that every interaction is with someone who is deeply familiar with our organization’s structure and history. Response times to inquiries are consistently fast, and issues are resolved promptly—often immediately. Additionally, the platform itself is highly intuitive and user-friendly, allowing for seamless account management and easy customization of features.

**What do you dislike about APS?**

There isn't anything about APS that is a negative for us.  Any issue that we have run into they have provided a quick and easy resolution.

**What problems is APS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest issue we have is when you create any deduction, income item, department, etc for one company there is no way to transfer those settings to another company.  Instead, you have to recreate everything in each company. APS is working on the ability to transfer certain items, which saves time as well as ensure consistency in the company settings.

I love how user-friendly and efficient the system is. It makes payroll processing so easy and saves a lot of time. The customer support has also been great for us.

There’s not much I dislike about APS overall, but if I had to name something, it would be that some features could be a bit more intuitive or customizable. Even so, the support team usually helps resolve things quickly.

I would like to easily access reports when it comes to comparison of amounts and positions. 
I would like to see a friendly and interactive section in the documents so its all standard in format inside the documents that are uploaded

Its solving payroll needs, benefit announcements and performance evaluation.
The performance portion is used for the EOY bonuses and certain other items we consider and its very helpful to have this all in ONE place.

**What do you like best about APS?**

I am at the beginning of my journey with APS, but so far they have been amazing.  The process to learn about and sign on with APS has been extremely smooth and well done.  I worked with Kaylee at the beginning and she was attentive, knowledeable, and extremely helpful as this is my first time working with a big payroll company.  APS was not the cheapest quote I received, but I chose them because of their customer service.  They were definitely better in this area than the other companies I talked with.  Bonus!  They sent our office cookies!

**What do you dislike about APS?**

I don't really have any.  If you are a smaller company, their minimum monthly cost is $250.  This could be a problem if you don't have enough people to meet that quota.

**What problems is APS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I haven't had any problems yet.

Very clean and organized payroll solution. Everything is in 1 spot, 1 website and you can see anything you need to with regards to payroll. It is easy to add employees, very straight forward. APS also does the 1095's for me, tracks reviews, benefits and accruals.

**What do you dislike about APS?**

Uploading documents. I often times want to upload several documents at a time to either the company documents or the employee documents and I wish there was a drag and drop feature. Instead you have to upload 1 document at a time. I dislike that when you put a pay raise in the system it is not automatic, you have to manually change pay raises.

**What problems is APS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I came from ADP and they had several different sites all with different usernames, with APS everything is centralized.

I have worked with APS for 17 years plus and cannot recommend them enough.  APS has proven to be a great partner for Holy Angels.  Their products are easy to use, and their customer support is unmatched.  Payroll processing, open enrollment, quarterly reporting and annual reporting are a breeze.  I do not work with the HR side much, as I am in finance, however I do know that any help our HR department needs APS is right there to help and get it right.  Their Analytics and Help Guides are awesome.

It is better then Quickbooks more user friendly, adapts better to digital time clocks like ETS and Kronos, works good with Maximo software/app for transfer of labor hours.

I have to refresh often because of a few freeze ups. Sometimes during start up  I had to reboot the computer to get the app to open. I wish all clients used the app/program to simplify time keeping.

Better timekeeping and time tracking, good for multiple project management jobs, works with other departments programs/software without too many IT hiccups.

ESelfServe still has some glitches, especially the mobile app. These can be worked around, especially if you use the desktop app.

We are a small business and it's helpful to not have to deal with payroll taxes and issuing paychecks. APS saves us a lot of time. Although we only have 28 paid employees, each of them are unique.

APS offers a user-friendly platform, and one of the things I appreciate most is the ease of running payroll—it’s efficient and straightforward. The HR Hire and Onboarding is also efficient for the entire team.

However, there are a few areas that could use improvement. The report outputs are not as flexible or intuitive as I’d like, making it harder to get the data in the format I need. Additionally, the benefits administration functionality has some limitations, particularly the lack of support for passive enrollment, which would make annual enrollment much smoother.

Hiring and onboarding is much more efficient.

How responsive they are. I have dealt with companies on the larger end and they never have anyone dedicated to us as a client. We get the same team every call and they don't miss a beat. Even with the small stuff, they treat every inquiry with care and consideration.

I'd say the app can be flunky here and there and some features could be a little better designed. For example having a separate log in for my employee account and my admin account is a little excessive. I wish I could toggle between them. Also the bill increasing over time, though they were upfront about it, I fail to see the need for it.

Support can be better. Looks like they may improve and have been consistently improving however technical and on call support can be better. Product enhancements are not very frequent.

Evaluated the platform for payment services and quick financial and performance management services. However there were certain limitations and restrictions that kept us from not moving ahead with paid plans yet.

APS is working with me on the Integration from the payroll fees and taxes  being downloaded into our QuickBooks on-line. Once this is completed, I am hoping that it will save me time by not having to do it manually!

APS pushes their own updates, and their new interface makes employee records so much easier to use.

**What do you dislike about APS?**

When new updates are available, it is usually in the middle of the day while you are in the middle of something important, but I wouldn't necessarily say I don't like this about APS.

There are too many issues I have had to list, but those issues were operator error, not APS erros.

**What do you like best about APS?**

It auto inputs the data straight from the system after you have approved the payroll. This is helpful and a time saver instead of inputting each person separately.

**What do you dislike about APS?**

I have some employees that receive an "advance" on their paychecks. APS has a way to do that but it does not automatically subtract the amount due--you must manually calculate that. It is not a huge hindrance as it is not needed every payroll session.

**What problems is APS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is a time saver and helps keep me accurate on all time logs and data entry. It also allows employees to access it themselves instead of asking me questions regarding their hours/pay.

I Love that APS is easy to use, has amazing customer service,I can perform all my HR and payroll functions all in one location, and the lastest and greatest is that I can now link my benefit enrollment to APS to save time when uploading all information.

The downside to APS is they  don't have a calculator to pre-calculate a paycheck.

APS has allowed me to have all my onboarding in one place. And this year we are using the performance manager feature, allowing all reviews to be done on this site. So easy to create and use

The Support is most helpful and the reports are extremely useful when analyzing payroll data

**What do you dislike about APS?**

During the COVID pandemic, it was challenging to get support on the phone for difficult issues regarding the system

**What problems is APS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

No problems at the current time but when the labor department needs information regarding our employee labor the information is easy to obtain from the APS system.   In addition, I need to report payroll number for end of year processing, 
and  if any agencies like LWCC need information; this provides the information that is needed.  This makes my day a little easier.  APS is  flexible  in that it is easy to handle the general ledger.

**What do you like best about APS?**

My team appreciates the teamwork and helpful customer service. I am confident any question or issue I may have is met with respect and prompt attention. If the resolution isn't given at the first response, it is escalated to a higher consult. In every case, my team and I feel that our questions / situations are always important and that the APS team will work quickly to resolve any issue and answer all requests. They target issues with great diligence.

**What do you dislike about APS?**

I'm not completely sold on the time and attendance just yet, but it was way better than it was before. There are tools to track and maintain CA compliance with missed meal periods, but not to my convinience, but my inquiry has been heard and follow has been within reasonable time. I appreciate the opportunity to be heard and feel that my concerns are real to the APS team as they are to me.

**What problems is APS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is so comforting to have the support opening up new concepts within a brief window and have teams - not just one person, but constant teamwork at APS to ensure our concepts go live without issue.  The implementation teams, back end teams, support teams are a truly unified team that helps our business be set up quickly and in motion.
