**What do you like best about SimplePractice?**

The all inclusive electronic health record system offers easy way to stay on top of administrative tasks and ensures clinicians stay up-to-par on legal responsibilities.

**What do you dislike about SimplePractice?**

Client portal could be more robust. For those of us who take pride in the branding of our practices we know that it's the little things that count. In this regard, the system lacks customizable like color schemes, branding and overall presentation, offering nothing more than one or two default templates.

**What do you like best about SimplePractice?**

SimplePractice helps keep me organized by keeping everything in one place - client appointments, practice documents, and chart notes. I love the ease of onboarding a new client as well as sending clients occasional documents to complete such as a release of information. I also love that I can customize my intake forms and gather the information that is relevant to my work with clients and couples. My clients find it easy to use and are very happy with it as well.

**What do you dislike about SimplePractice?**

In my perfect world, practice documents and intake forms could be shared between different accounts, but that's a minor issue.

**Recommendations to others considering SimplePractice:**

I recommend signing up for a free trial so you can try it out and get a sense of how it will best serve you and your business.

**What problems is SimplePractice solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SimplePractice keeps me organized. It helps me keep track of my charting, treatment plans, and makes it super easy to process client payments and track income. I know exactly which clients need progress notes and treatment plans and nothing falls through the cracks. All of this saves me time so I can focus on what I really enjoy doing - working with my clients!

The platform was easy to use and insurance billing was quick

By far, the worst customer service! Their lack of communication, organization, and professionalism resulted in the complete loss (deletion) of all my client information.

**Recommendations to others considering SimplePractice:**

Unless SimplePractice improves their support services, it’s not worth the risk...Go with a better organized company

**What problems is SimplePractice solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I sent multiple emails, often waiting DAYS to hear back, only to receive email responses from at least 3 different customer service representatives who stated they needed to do further research or have someone else look into the situation. They each provided conflicting information, and obviously they were not communicating with one another. This went on for several weeks, and in the meantime, ended up deleting my client information. The final email I received was informing me that it was “unfortunate” but no other explanation or accountability.

**What do you like best about SimplePractice?**

I like it so much!  It’s an integrated system that handles insurance billing, invoicing, client records, HIPAA notes, credit card processing, psychotherapy notes, scheduling, accounting, document storage, client portal, reminder messages, secure client messaging,...and so much more!

**What do you dislike about SimplePractice?**

It can take a little while to learn how to do everything.  HOWEVER, they have tons of videos and how-to articles and an active Facebook group.   Also, it can be frustrating that there isn't a phone number to reach tech support, BUT they are reachable by phone after an email request for a call.

**Recommendations to others considering SimplePractice:**

Make use of the videos and Facebook group.  They are very helpful. 

**What problems is SimplePractice solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I’m paperless!  I don’t have to do data entry as clients do it themselves.  Client information populates automatically into insurance forms, which saves a ton of time.   Accessing my client's secure information when I am not in my office is very helpful.   There are so many benefits, and I can't remember them all.

**What do you like best about SimplePractice?**

I liked the original pricing plans that included most of the basic services my small practice required (website scheduling widget, appointment reminders, forms).

**What do you dislike about SimplePractice?**

Simple Practice with minimal warning increased the monthly price for basic features astronomically - citing the addition of mandatory features my practice doesn't use or need. The plan I originally chose was suddenly no longer available. When I downgraded rather than pay the astronomical new fee I thought it would take place at the end of the billing cycle to give time for users to adjust and to give me time to research an alternative. Instead it happened immediately meaning my clients lost appointment reminders that same day and I had to manually text them all. I also had to spend hours removing their scheduling widget from every place in my website where I'd placed it. I was given a credit by simple practice for the difference in pricing which I then lost when I switched to a competitor shortly thereafter as simple practice will not refund.  

I recommend looking into Power Diary or Embark if you are a solo practitioner or small practice. It's very stressful to run a practice and have this happen with little to no warning. A small increase on a yearly basis would've gone over better than such a huge jump in price without any accompanying value.

**Recommendations to others considering SimplePractice:**

Use if you don't mind sudden rate increases with minimal to no accompanying value. Avoid if you're looking for reliable and stable pricing.

**What problems is SimplePractice solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Little to no benefit as I've switched EMRs this month. Prior to this I used it for scheduling, sending confidential forms, charting, and appointment reminders.

Its really user friendly, and has a lot of additional services outside of clinical documentation. I also like the ability it has to manage claims and insurance enrollment. I have grown my practice using this EHRS program

The price has significantly increased recently and when there are outages, there is no refund for missed appointments and or the hassle.

**What do you like best about SimplePractice?**

Confidentiality is important and at the forefront of SimplePractice system.  I love how everything is easy to use and located in a single location. My clients appreciate the option to cancel and reschedule at the same time, secure messages, easy to use client portal and the link to telehealth connection.

**What do you dislike about SimplePractice?**

I originally left due to the credit card processing fees with Stripe as well as file size uploads that are not assessment friendly.  The cost difference is acceptable considering how much time I save having everything in one location.  I learned how to reduce pdf file size so the upload limit is no longer an issue.

**Recommendations to others considering SimplePractice:**

Sometimes it is too easy to focus on money alone without considering the ease of use and time saving aspects.  Consider your needs and what will make your life easier.  It may be worth the $8-15 a month in extra costs.

Less emails and communications when my clients need to reschedule.  Love how you can customize templates to exactly meet your needs. Very simple to send therapy worksheets to clients through the portal as well.

Simple Practice is easy to navigate for the most part.

**What do you dislike about SimplePractice?**

No ability to edit existing treatment plans. Additionally, It is not easy to get in contact with a real human being to address technical issues. I am not the only one to note this. They have a cha box that links to a community forum that ultimately is not effective for answering your questions they lack any phone numbers to call them. I am very disappointed that I cannot edit existing treatment plans. I see upwards of 30 + clients per week. It is very aggravating to have to make an entirely new treatment plan when all I need to do (and would save a lot of time) is simply update the existing one. I have tried to address this issue with them before and they said the issue was something my supervisor would have address in their settings. My supervisor did what she was able to do and I still cannot edit existing treatment plans.

**What problems is SimplePractice solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I really cannot tell a difference from Therapy Notes to be honest. From what I understand it is easier for billing purposes, but Therapy Notes has a much better progress note and treatment plan layout.

Super easy to use and very convenient for the clients. Clients are able to upload documents from their end. Scheduling and creating client profiles are easy. The calendar display is visually pleasing. There's a lot of extra features that make you want to use the system.

**What do you dislike about SimplePractice?**

Never had any issues. There could be more of a variety of templates. Support can be hard to reach since you cannot call. Provide a phone number and live chat for those who need assistance asap.

All of them. The number one benefit is clients having control over their portal. This helps the company and client become more productive and increases performance. Helps everyone stay on one accord.

Simple Practice helps keep all the client's information in one place and helps keep my calendar/schedule straight. I also love the function to save assessments that can easily be added to a client's file.

It would be nice if Simple Practice could like better to my website and have the capabilities to host podcasts, courses, videos, etc. Then I could really have everything in one place.

I have solved the problem of having paper files and streamlined all my files into one place. It is also much more secure than having paper files locked up in my office.

Note templates are helpful, and you can develop your own. Secure messaging feature with clients, which is HIPAA compliant. Keeps psychotherapy and progress notes together on the same page, but separate if need to provide to clients or insurance.

It was challenging to figure out the best way to add a "request appointment" link on my professional website, so I ended up having to switch the location I had my domain on.

Billing insurance is simple and user friendly for the therapist new to insurance billing

**What do you dislike about SimplePractice?**

I really want to be able to track the quantifiable (Objective part of SOAP notes) aspect of my therapy. I want a section where I can write my goals and input data and then have it spit out tracking for me. I had this in school based software for Medicaid billing and it made writing progress reports so much easier. I am having to upload all my data to do things this way separately. So many SLPs use your program, please tailor it more to those of us who generate quantitative data (SLPs/OTs/PTs/ABA therapists) not just those who generate qualitative data.

**Recommendations to others considering SimplePractice:**

I would advise others to try it out for 30 days to see if it meets their needs. It is easy to learn to use and navigate. Also I would recommend they watch the short little video tape helps that are offered.

Billing. I am solving the difficulty of billing through different portals for insurance.

I like how Simple Practice does it all in one place. I used to use an archaic paper and pen method that had so many steps and became no longer practical in the era of telehealth. Simple Practice has helped me streamline this process and update to the times.

**What do you dislike about SimplePractice?**

It took me some time to shift over my paperwork to digital format (especially questionnaires), and I had to familiarize myself with the system to be able to find everything easily which also took some time.

If you are still using paper and pen it is time to make the switch! Jump in with Simple Practice and you won’t regret it!

It has ultimately freed up time for me through streamlining the intake process and took me emailing/scanning as the middle man completely out of the equation which has been a huge benefit.

the ease of the system navigation and lower amounts of paperwork

**What do you dislike about SimplePractice?**

No access to anyone in management, refuses to answer questions, lacks knowledge about 277 files, doesnt understand zip plus 4 rules, takes 2 weeks to schedule a meeting with a sup[port specialist that has no clue about behavioral health claims, clearing house representatives tell you incorrect information regarding submissions of claims, clearing house they use is poorly designed and gives scrubbing errors for zip codes while taking 24 to 48 hrs to post a claim. Forget about getting your own records, there is no way to downlead client demographics or information. When you run into an issue they make you [post an idea to a forum for others to vote on the issue to be addressed. Knowing they have over 2009 agencies voting for direct contact with an associate they still refuse to fix the problem.

That I will never be with a company like this again. We need communication open and continuous. An LMFT owns this company and should know better. Shame on you for how you process and handle your communication.

**What do you like best about SimplePractice?**

Really like how versatile Simple Practice is. You can keep billing and patient notes in the same, secure place... which is a huge plus! Used to have to use multiple platforms to do this but this one does it even more efficiently. Creating super bills for clients has never been easier and I cant imagine operating without this convenience. Platform also works well w/ telehealth meetings!

**What do you dislike about SimplePractice?**

Honestly, the interface is a little boring looking. It's rather dull and doesn't feel very interactive. Perhaps this is just my device, but sometimes the formatting gets distorted and stretched out and I have to close the window and restart the process. This could be a programming bug or just my laptop, but either way it's an annoying error that happens every other week or so.

**Recommendations to others considering SimplePractice:**

I recommend that any new users simply spend an hour or so acquainting yourself to the features and you'll have it down for easy use moving forward. If you're considering using it, explore the features because they are as advertised. It can help simplify your workflow.

Client file organization is the biggest piece. It's a great e-file system to keep everything in one safe place. Much easier and more affordable than other patient management systems I have used in the past.

SimplePractice is intuitive for a new private practitioner. Customer service is very accessible and friendly. I enjoy the ease of use and templates available for clinicians. The price is very reasonable considering all the services you get.  The tutorials are helpful, and they have free webinars for continued learning.

It would be helpful to have standalone/integrated email option, rather than just secure messaging.

Simple Practice has a lot to offer compared to some of the other EHR services out there.

I found the functions for use to be friendly and easy for all levels tech abilities.  I found the site to have a  variety of options to help a provider with start up forms to allow for quick and smooth mobilization for practice.

For basic level there were very few options to choose from, which made utilization of the site limited.

I think any Mental Health user will find the SimplePractice functions easy for use and navigation.

I have not had any situations, where problem solving has been needed.

What I like about SimplePractice is that it provides everything you could possibly need for your private practice. It sets you up nicely and allows you to bill clients. It has everything you could possibly think of to need in that setting. I like that they continue to update and change things to make it more user friendly.

It’s a little complicated to learn. It takes a good hour I would say to set up and then another hour or more to learn the system. They have a difficult time with adjusting to insurance inconsistencies so my clients “what they owe” is often or almost always inaccurate.

It is a great system. Has all the bells and whistles

clean interface, easy to submit claims, strong and informed user base

**What do you dislike about SimplePractice?**

no phone support so when you need support you have to send an email and wait 24 hours for a reply, the email often asks for more information, this requires more waiting, you may get a response and for some reason its often not a direct response to your original question. the support process can take days. you cannot call in with a quick question. the only place to do that is on their facebook group which is other users answering your questions.
the product does not get billing info from insurance companies in a reliable way. you are often not informed when you are paid and this is what the product is designed to do. when you open a ticket with support it can take WEEKS before you find out what the issue is and you have to login to the insurance company website to see your claims. this is a main selling point of the software but it does not work well.
their telehealth software is very unstable. they charge extra for it. sound is choppy and video drops off often. many people who use it have issues with it.
gillian wu is their internet leader. she has contacted me for leaving negative reviews and offered credits on two occasions to remove the reviews.  that is highly unethical in my opinion. one of the ways the company succeeds is by monitoring their online presence and urging people to remove their reviews. i posted some negative information and was blocked from a user support group. the information contained a minor inaccurate detail but overall was true: their telehealth product is very flawed. i was blocked from the group which was a huge source of technical support.

**Recommendations to others considering SimplePractice:**

be very cautious using this product. once your data is in there it is hard to get it out. they increase their prices. they charge per claim. they charge extra for telehealth. the cost of this product can easily run $100 per month very quickly if you bill any volume and once you start doing that, its hard to get your data out and make a switch. on top of all this their support is abysmal.

**What do you like best about SimplePractice?**

I like being able to do online scheduling for my clients, as well as billing through credit cards and being able to provide invoices and superbills all in a streamlined and functional manner. There are several solid note templates already loaded to the program that can be used for record keeping as well.

**What do you dislike about SimplePractice?**

I absolutely detest creating my own templates. It is just a cumbersome and laborious process and the end result is not particularly visually appealing. I would love if online forms/templates could also be printed out in paper format in a way that was aesthetically pleasing if one was choosing to have client's fill paperwork out in person. Also in regards to telehealth/video options, I would like to be able to see multiple people in the sessions, such as if i was seeing a couple and they were both located in different places at the time of the appointment, or if i was trying to conduct online groups.

Solid platform for a reasonable price.

It is generally a one stop shop for most of my private practice needs. While it does take a bit of getting used to and a significant investment of time to fully understand where things are located and how to navigate various integrations, overall I find it to be beneficial.

The layout and processes for both billing and scheduling are easy to use, logical, and visually well-organized. I like the different viewing options (both for the calendar, for billing, and for client data) and the customizability of different crucial paperwork (like treatment plans and notes). 
The client portal is also convenient, especially with regards to the therapist calendars and ability for clients to request appointments.

I dislike some of the note-taking parameters (but aware that that could be more about my practice policies than the software itself).

I haven't found a better platform that contains everything you need for managing therapists and their caseloads!

Client scheduling is made much easier for many clients with the collaborative online option. It is also very organized and convenient to have all practice and session information on the same platform, making it easier for therapists to stay organized.

I like the user-friendly layout of the Simple Practice site. It’s easy to find what I need and  keep my paperwork organized. With all the treatment plans and case notes I write, the last thing I want to do is go sifting and searching for what I need. Simple Practice makes it easy. 

**What do you dislike about SimplePractice?**

I think the mobile app could use some work. I don’t like that I have limited information on the client available to me (like admin notes or links to past notes). I am also not a huge fan of the scrolling calendar layout instead of the blocking layout like the desktop version. It would be great to have a privacy function on the mobile app as well.

SimplePractice offers medical practitioners an all-in-one type experience for scheduling appointments, gathering and storing medical files and authorizations, contact list, and managing your billing and invoices. And it does it all for a fairly low price-point. 

**What do you dislike about SimplePractice?**

This software just doesn't quite fit our current business model. Not all the clinicians and employees have Apple devices for fulling utilizing the schedule sync. We use Microsoft Outlook and Gmail quite a bit and that makes it difficult to sync schedules. Our current business model doesn't include insurance, so we're paying for an unused feature. Same with the billing, which is largely being handled with Microsoft Excel and OneDrive. Appointments are made over the phone or face-to-face. Also, the price per month goes up exponentially with each clinician added to the account, so we can't afford to add anyone. We could better utilize this service if it could be tailored to the individual practice's business model.

Shop around according to where to expect your practice to be 5 years from now in terms of ease of scheduling, billing, taxes, what OS you want your business to run off of, and number of employees.

Our group practice uses SimplePractice mainly for entering appointments into the calendar for syncing/sharing, HIPAA Compliant messaging, updating patient contact information, and managing billing and invoices.

There are many things I love about this program. It’s easy scheduling and you can share it with multiple counselors for shared offices. I share two offices with 4 counselors and SimplePractice allows me to see when offices are being used. I also love that my clients can fill out all of their intake forms before coming into my office, and that we often don’t have to talk about payment more than once because it saves their credit card information. It’s easy to use and has many different components for private practice.

**What do you dislike about SimplePractice?**

I don’t have a lot to complain about, but I do wish it was easier to re-send client access to their portal. Also, when you cancel a meeting and click the wrong button you can make it so that your client is inactive. I wish when you searched your client’s name it would come up and just show “inactive” rather than having to look for them on a separate tab.

I’m saving paper, saving time, and making my work even more professional. People like the ease of filling out their paperwork online and like getting appointment reminders.

Streamlined insurance claim submissions make life very easy. Digital online note taking and information storage is very beneficial. Its HIPPA compliance is exceptional and necessary for the work we do at the business.

I like the simplicity of planning arrangements without finishing heaps of preparing of how to do as such. I value the stripe Visa framework that is incorporated with the product as this was one concern I had of tolerating installments from customer. I like the video conferencing and the way that live preparing is offered and I really get the opportunity to see the general population behind the scene instead of email. My request to client bolster pivot time was a sensible and issue settled. I adore the reality the I can send a customer a paid receipt promptly, subsequent to tolerating charge card installment over the phone...thank goodness less administrative work. I truly love the majority of the structures customers need to finish are available...ease of composing progress notes, and so on...

**What do you dislike about SimplePractice?**

There is nothing that I dislike about this software.

**Recommendations to others considering SimplePractice:**

 It is simple with respect to face validity. You can navigate around pretty easily without making serious or irreversible mistakes that many of us fear with the technical aspects of EHRs.

**What problems is SimplePractice solving and how is that benefiting you?**

To start with, I am as yet learning the product, yet from my experience, I trust I will keep it. I am not looking for another. The help is useful, day by day update and updates that assistance keep me sorted out. Sooner or later, I will add the logbook to my site. Until further notice, the product satisfies it name in that it is a basic practice. When I leased office space, I must be there to meet my customer and some would drop finally. Presently, I set the updates, telephone, email, content... furthermore, on the off chance that I customer doesn't appear, after I have overcame the traffic and hurried crosswise over town to get to the workplace, sitting and pausing and thinking about whether the customer will appear, I don't feel that I sat idle, gas and baffled on the grounds that the customer did not call to drop hours or days prior. I truly like my online office. I figured it would feel far off and cold...so far, the online eye to eye still feel individual. I additionally like that the framework meet HIPPA and my state necessities.

I like that the designers are ceaselessly getting criticism and tolerating contribution about their clients' wants for how to add to and further build up the program. From customer booking to updates and putting away notes and charging, it's easy to understand and "straightforward"

The main figure I can say that I didn't care for about this was the you can't really kill the need to affirm arrangements and its in all respects convenient devouring to really affirm each and every arrangement.

I like that SimplePractice makes the flow of my very part-time practice so easy. I am mostly a stay at home mom. I work a few evenings a week. I wouldn’t want to spend any extra time dealing with paperwork. So I pay for SimplePractice to make paperwork and scheduling super convenient.

I wish it cost less bc I work so part-time. However, it’s still worth it to me. For others that work more hours, it should be extremely affordable.

I am able to send clients my intake paperwork in a cinch. Since it’s completed online, when they come in there is no paperwork to distract us during the first session. Also, most of my clients opt to pay online so there no need to collect payment when they come in either. It will be done automatically that night.

This EHR is affordable and makes billing easy.  The forms are customizable and my clients can schedule appointments and pay bills online.  Appointment reminders are free, as well, which decreases no-shows.

It takes awhile to customize some forms, as there aren’t many templates that are feasible.  It was supposed to include treatment planners, but this feature has still not arrived. This would make treatment planning much easier!

Take advantage of any assistance from the company and don’t be afraid to ask them for help.  They are always very responsive to questions or concerns.

Makes doing my own billing simple and cost effective.  I can do my own billing for a very small fraction of what I would pay a billing person/agency, and it takes only seconds for each claim!

The best feature with this product is that all you have to do is click one button (as long as all the information is there) to create a claim.   The information will automatically be filtered onto the claim. 

**What do you dislike about SimplePractice?**

I dislike that it does not catch mistakes that a private biller would be able to catch. For example: it will allow you to bill several new patient visits in a row (for the same patient). I would think it could tell that is a mistake, and flag the claim. It also does not automatically apply a deductible portion so you have to add a check for $0 (for every person that applies towards deductibles) that is a huge waste of time.   This system also does not keep track of self pay versus insurance patients including copay, coins, ect

Look at the pros and cons and the review of people who already use the software, it doesn't do everything they claim but it definitely has a lot to offer for a small practice that wants to eliminate overhead and fees for outsourcing

We are able to filter information onto claims faster based on what is scheduled for each provider,  saves time and eliminating keying errors.

Wiley Treatment plan is not helpful. Simple practice needs to implement treatment plans for their platform so clinicians could select problem areas and treatments from a list already loaded into the client's folder.

Online sessions were difficult to establish with SImple Practice's video platform,. Tech support was trying to help to fix it but they were unable. Very frustrating that they don't offer phone numbers to contact them for trouble shooting, they only offer the  email option.

Client record keeping. Scheduling is easy on  simple practice as well as I find the client portal useful for clients to fill out intake forms online and submit it before the first session.

Scheduling clients and charting are super easy.

There is no way to describe the level of frustration I have experienced trying to get some live support.  There is NO telephone number you can call to get a live person on the phone to help you figure out a problem.  There isn't even a live help option.  Every problem I have tried to ask for help for - via email - I get an email response to a day or day and half later.  There are complex problems that have to be sorted out - and it takes an incredible amount of time trying to put everything into writing - not to mention waiting at least 24 hours for a response - and if the person's response doesn't answer the question..... you have to start all over again.  It's in the DARK AGES, really.  

**Recommendations to others considering SimplePractice:**

If you think you will need live support, then this isn't the EHR for you.  Simple Practice staff have told me to watch YouTube videos and "join the on line community" to ask questions.  This is absurd! I want to talk to a knowledgeable person who can help me solve problems with my account.

I am not solving business problems - I am creating them actually - because if something goes wrong with insurance billing - there seems to be no effective way to get support so as to resolve the problems, such that the problems snowball.

**What do you like best about SimplePractice?**

It is “simple” to use, no pun intended. I like the sleek interface of It and the ease of the tools. 

**What do you dislike about SimplePractice?**

There are some things that other EHRd have that SP does not, and It is a little pricier.

Having an EHR to keep track of my clinical records.

**What do you like best about SimplePractice?**

I like that the developers are continually receiving feedback and accepting input about their customers’ desires for how to add to & further develop the program. From client scheduling to reminders and storing notes and billing, it’s user friendly and “simple”

**What do you dislike about SimplePractice?**

I cannot think of anything that I dislike. The app is good - but I can’t access all the features from it. I wish that I could connect families better with it, when scheduling more than one client from the same family, but for privacy, I understand why I cannot. 

**What problems is SimplePractice solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Simplicity of scheduling, the automatic client reminders, storing all my notes so I don’t need a giant file cabinet, and reminding me about who hasn’t paid or what notes are not written.

**What do you like best about SimplePractice?**

I like that I am able to do all my billing and invoicing through SimplePractice and that all my notes and contact information is in one secure location. I have also used the Stripe for payment part which is helpful. 

**What do you dislike about SimplePractice?**

They seem to make updates frequently and it can change the look of the website which I don't like. Some parts of the invoicing are counter-intuitive to me but they have been responsive when I ask questions. 

**What problems is SimplePractice solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Billing is much easier and efficient. Sending clients paperwork to complete ahead of time is helpful.
Having all contact information and notes accessible remotely from the office is helpful.
