One thing I don’t love about Canvas is that it really depends on how each instructor sets up their course. Some classes are super clear and organized, while others can feel confusing or cluttered. Also, the wide range of functions can feel overwhelming at first, and since it relies on students having devices and internet access, it may be challenging for under-resourced classrooms. HiTeach has solved the problem of classroom interaction and real-time assessment. In the past, it was hard to quickly check whether all students understood the lesson, but now with HiTeach’s instant feedback, I can see their responses right away and adjust my teaching on the spot. I think that, as with many things, it can be very frustrating for teachers to see some of the tiered components cost extra. While it's completely understandable that the company needs to make money to continue to improve, as educators, it's generally outside the teacher's control for what funds are spent and where based on school/district budgets, which then can either lead them to personally paying fees for subscriptions, or in some cases, being restricted from using them where they are not allowed to pay for items personally (as in my previous district). ClassLink helps take our current school roster information from our SIS and sends out that data to our various educational software vendors for student use. I have been able to run all registrations for our wellbeing and inclusion focused events through Kallidus which has helped me to process RSVPs and dietary requirements. There is a better record of attendance and delegates can review the events they have attended. Running these events through Kallidus has also given them a Learning & Development status which is helping with uptake as people see them as more formal opportunities to grow and improve. Of course, students being students, have found some ways to circumvent Dyknow. Ultimately though, I've decided if they are that dedicated to ignoring me, I'll just leave them to it. When students know that I have the ability to see what tabs they actively have open during class, they tend to stick with the class content better. The pandemic forced our organization to cancel our in-person educational training programs for our stakeholders. Since then, we have been unable to return to that model, as there have been difficulties with available groups to attend in person. We had been struggling for some time as to how to address this issue, and a previous usage of a Teachfloor online course sparked the idea to use that as a model for our own needs. An online at your -own-pace learning platform seemed the perfect candidate to help us get back to training but also in a fashion that worked for all. We have built the program and are in the process of finalizing the last details before we launch it out to our stakeholders.
