Edsby is easy to introduce to faculty, students and parents. Edsby offers an immense array of options, but what it fundamentally promises - to be the online platform for school and classroom communication - it delivers on in spades. From welcome messages and class plans on the first day, through to online report cards at the end of the term, Edsby is a daily resource for all things learning-related. It doesn't replace the classroom, it enhances it. And I think it makes teachers - and most importantly students - more successful. Edsby is a gift to teaching and learning. The downside of Edsby is that teachers begin to have numerous creative ideas on how to do things in Edsby, and while Edsby tries to be responsive, it's not always available or possible from the programmer's point of view. Another possible detrimental effect is that students can become focused and anxious at seeing their grade updated. There are ways to mitigate this, but a simple "Update" button in the gradebook, along with "Share", would help. We need to care for the anxiety level of students. Edsby is very user friendly from the student, teacher, administrator and parent perspective. It allows us to do almost everything within the system. The Edsby team is very supportive and address requests and concerns quickly and efficiently. Most of all, the system is incredibly easy to use and takes very little time to learn. The ability to share content with students and use the tools to gather diagnostic feedback on student progress is important. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are very few things to dislike. The messaging system is quite simple and the ability to sort messages into folders would be helpful. Also, a separate discussion space within classes would be a great feature. Occasionally, sharing content between classes by teachers is challenging. The only downside is that the system will only be as good as a end user. If students don't use the system to their advantage and teachers don't post effectively, the benefits are not realized. The ability to see classes, activities, schedules, parent information, grades, and anecdotal information all in one 'panorama' view.
The ability to connect Ontario curriculum expectations to assessments. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The library feature of resources needs work. Document thumbnails are unclear and organization is challenging.
Some elements of the layout we would like to change but we are not permitted to, even with the highest permissions (for example, Edsby put their own notice in our 'River of News' banner and despite repeated requests to remove it, or allow us to remove it, we were not permitted). I like that I can interact with my students in real time and give them feedback on their assignments. I also like that the curriculum expectations are available to include in online assignments. Additionally, developing "Groups" for my students to share and interact beyond our regular subjects enabled me to see their interactions with myself and others. I find that the time to finish uploading files and videos varies from day to day. I would also prefer more options with the online quizzes (maybe placing things in order). Also, I would like options for adapting the layout to maximize its effectiveness. Also, parents and students often get frustrated while using EDSBY on their mobile devices (phones) because the appearance is different than at school. If the appearance of each could be aligned, it would cause less confusion. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I love that students can submit their work directly to me via Office365 and their grade book. It is great that I can control if parents can message me or not. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I dislike that when I am in Grade Book I do not receive messages from my students. Also, having a way for students to be able to collaborate through messaging would be great instead of having to send them to a different software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The Edsby platform is easy for both students and staff to learn. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I wish the file sharing capabilities were more robust. I envy the ability of Google Classroom users to easily distribute documents to students that they can complete without downloading a file. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What I like best about Edsby the fact I can reach out to my students through the message icon. Receive notification that I have received and email from students. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There isn't anything I dislike about Edsby the website is awesome and again a great resource for our students. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It’s easy to use with lots of features. It also looks great for clients. Students and parents love that they have so much access to grades and messages. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are many options to customize for individual teachers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Pretty much nothing - After trying to use it more extensively over the past few months - I would prefer to use spreadsheets and email.
The error messages are obscure if you even get one - more often than not, functions simply don't work and no error is given at all Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Help screens are not thorough and often are out of date with the application.
You cannot import or export test questions.
This function should have been implemented 15 to 20 years ago! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like that Edsby has an app to accompany it. I also like that it lets me make notes next to a students grade if I need to. I also like being able to see past classes. It also provides a platform to message students privately or as a class. It is also easy to adjust weighting for categories of grades and to copy weighting across classes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
While I can view past classes, it is a bit difficult and you have to click through several screens to access them. I also wish there was a way to print rosters for all classes at one time, instead of having to print one at a time. The app also has very little functionality in terms of updating grades. I also dislike that Notebook is not a pre-programmed category for grades. I always have to add it as a customized category. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Edsby is a wonderful student information management system that continues to remain accessible to teachers, students, and parents alike. As a teacher, Edsby helps to maintain continuous access to current grades, feedback, general announcements, and file sharing so that everyday things such as PDFs, word documents, and videos can be uploaded to enhance student learning. It also facilitates confidential communication between the teacher with students and parents so that any missing work, concerns, requests for conferences, and anything else that may be necessary can be communicated in a timely manner. Overall, Edsby is an extremely helpful student information system that cuts down on paperwork while enhancing communication and feedback. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There is honestly nothing that I dislike about Edsby; they continue to update their capabilities and it is at the point right now where the system is just awesome! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Personalisation option for my classes as well as the display of the classe information so as to get any information i need about my class. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The calender is just cumbersome and long time to enter items into it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
First of all i like the connectivity of students, instructors and the school management secondly i love the ability to overview the students report the past ones and current. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The calender entry of items takes really long time and its cumbersome. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Very easy to use and intuitive user interface. Report cards, alerts, current grade, attendance, are all right there in one location. We can see where a student is, if he or she was absent for a particular class, whether they have a family or medical alert, and how they are doing in class, with the click of a button. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
No means of displaying community involvement hours. Students find this very frustrating - Edsby gathers info from Maplewood each night, but does not gather community involvement hours, which are mandatory for graduation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Edsby is an easy to use Learning Management System that mimics some of the common social networking graphical user interfaces that students and staff use. It has been evolving since it's inception and continues to add new features and capabilities. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We were an early adopter of the system and so worked with Edsby through some of the initial glitches and missing elements that were needed. While this worked well for the first year we were left out of the loop as they grew and gathered larger customers (Florida) and paid more attention to them. They've circled back and are working with us much more closely now. We are still working to get some things that we need in our district such as standards based grading, some controls on who can delete items in shared containers, and other things that we feel are necessary in a full LMS. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
This program has made it so that teachers don't have to send weekly or monthly updates because parents have access to daily updates as to how their son or daughter is doing in the class. Students also have the ability to access information from class when they miss a class period. Parents appreciate the ability to communicate with staff and see a calendar of the is happening in classes concerning tests and assignments. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
One of the biggest dislikes is not in the program, but the fact that parents don't log on and check the progress of their child. There is nothing in the program itself which causes great stress to our staff. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Massive functionality. The best integration of SIS and LMS anywhere. Customizable, but the power lies in the easy to use interface. Forget multiple clicks to do a simple task, Edsby is designed for the end users... but has the power in the back end for the administrators :-) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Support is iffy at best. Sometimes lightning fast, but at other times nothing... cricket. This is really the biggest need for improvement. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
That everything is easy to use and intuitive, and all in the same place. Working from the admin level, I have experienced good support from the support team, and always prompt responses. The portfolio piece is one that we are continuing to experiment with. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
That data is not easily found and analyzed. There seems to be a lot of analytics to work with, but I want to be able to easily pull it into a spreadsheet and manipulate it to get answers. This isn't as user-friendly as I would like for it to be. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like that Edsby is constantly rolling out new features and is adding new customizations. With the addition of the PTI scheduler and the new attendance, calendar and LTI integration, Edsby has become a very full featured product. I look forward to the addition of OnSIS reporting and transcript printing as a way to make Edsby a truly full featured SIS replacement. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
With some of the new features, they are not fully documented and they also break/disable currently working features. While support is able to help, there need to be more top-level support staff in the organization that can provide more direct support. I also don't like how the Dev team has so much control over the support process. Dev has frequently held up support tickets due to issues they are working on and this hinders my workflow. There is also infrequent communication around system features that are not currently working. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Edsby is like Facebook for teachers. I like how everything is all together and you get a snapshot of what's going on in your 'feed' Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I dislike how students don't interact with us through the application but I believe that is something that the school can regulate and choose. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It allows teachers to communicate grades and concerns to parents with general ease. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The communication tools (for parents to email teachers, etc.) are difficult to find at first, and then when you do, they are not as fluid as email-only apps or programs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like the interface, it's very user-friendly. Similar to facebook so most people can figure it out quickly. I deal with hundreds of parents every day, most of whom are not very tech-savvy, and they all use Edsby without a problem. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There isn't much to say here. If I have something I dislike, I communicate with the customer service team and they fix it! They are amazing! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
