"Complicated software"

What do you like best?

At all times this software warns about the performance of each program that is installed on the computer or how is the overall performance of the computer I am working to know if there is something that causes it to slow down or is on the verge of being damaged, with these observations that makes this software everything is well monitored and is in perfect condition always allowing work without complications and with 100% performance for greater agility and without delays

What do you dislike?

Its complicated use since I acquired it made me generate more knowledge of the basic knowledge I had for the configuration of these software and I had a long learning but that helped me to learn much more and expand my knowledge to improve each day the platform of a more functioning full

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The capacity that has for its development and good monitoring to be supervising all the app of the system and the use that it is having is verifying if it is apt to work in the registered team or it is better to make an update in the system before working and start use the app and that in the middle of the work causes me failures that would waste my time and my work, that's why datadog from the beginning informs me the status of each app and its performance

"Product of great interest"

What do you like best?

It gives me a balance in the work to know how is the performance of each app and each installed software that works and so be aware of each one or that is consuming many resources in the system that makes it slow and does not allow me to execute the actions that I need to do to make my work efficient, without Datadog I could not know which are the app that cause discomfort and that delay me in my work and its good support allows me to have the confidence to ask all the complications that are caused for make your cash settlement in a short time

What do you dislike?

When I started using this platform I found it very complicated to use that I did not know where to start, it caused me a lot of headaches to know how it was working and what other functions it offered, the technical team explained to me but there were vocabulary that did not understand what I was doing. I call for help from a senior engineer who knew more about the issue and put the correct configuration to what I realized that if I did not know about programming and systems at a high level, not anyone can start doing the configuration because it will not succeed

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The customer service is always helping all the problems are solved so that the platform works properly monitoring each app installed in the system and make everything have an optimal performance so that it does not collapse its proper functioning

What Application Performance Monitoring (APM) solution do you use?

Thanks for letting us know!

"Monitoring service"

What do you like best?

I can install multiple platforms in the system with the assurance that Datadog will monitor one by one very well verifying that its operation is correct and that the system progresses optimally without difficulties

The analysis that Datadog performs with each platform is very safe I have the peace of mind that if it is being monitored everything will work with its performance to the maximum without errors or low performance

What do you dislike?

The function it performs is very good but for this you have to know how to configure correctly and this takes time because the initial configuration is not so simple, it took me time to learn because it is a very broad platform with many functions that makes it a pretty guide How extensive is its operation

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The commands executed by this software are advanced and without error index, allowing to have a high performance system monitoring that all the platforms that I have installed work correctly, which makes me work with the certainty that any performance that this low percentage is going to inform datadog

"Comprehensive monitoring tool"

What do you like best?

The monitoring of this software we use internally in the company in each server

Datadog control panels help us monitor, debug, show data to those interested and simply show information live on the office screens

They gave us the complete solution and extended the test several times, and we were able to establish a substantial set of case studies that demonstrate the value to our business

What do you dislike?

The infrastructure of this software is a little complicated with few guides of learning that produces that the process of the correct operation has disadvantages at the beginning and it is not fast way to put to work this software in the company, it is necessary to obtain to learn to know its good operation and great results are achieved

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The continuous monitoring allows to monitor the app and programs that are installed in the system and to know if their performance is 100% and if they are in perfect condition to be worked or are working correctly, when there are app that are failing datadog informs of this so that the improvement of this app is made

"Performance alert"

What do you like best?

Makes application performance management with end-to-end monitoring warn of the security of data stored in the application that fail and cause a malfunction that may be compromised

Datadog can monitor and alert on different source categories that incorporate log files, performance metrics, availability, configuration and tracking changes

Monitoring is directed to data points that generate large amounts of records and data that focus on a series of critical events

What do you dislike?

The start of the monitoring configuration of the application must be carried out by an expert developer in the subject so that its configuration is correct from the beginning and its operation is correct and in the future there is no damage or stop working properly

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I like the monitoring that goes from end to end perfecting each application and controlling its correct operation, which is the right one to avoid irreparable damages that can not be fixed in time, all the work that Datadog does, it seems spectacular to have a tool that gives me this security to be seeing all the applications of the system

"App performance"

What do you like best?

I have always felt that datadog has a very advanced system more than any other software that provides the same services because its good performance and the results that have been released have affirmed that all the monitoring of the app and programs of the company are well monitored by Datadog, providing a good 24/7 monitoring service making sure that any warning of something that is failing will reach the notification to the mail informing what is happening

What do you dislike?

To place a profile picture on my datadog account, direct it to another page to create an avatar and there is a possibility to customize the datadog account with the photo but I do not like to do all this process in order to have my photo and try to create my avatar in the page that directs me datadog and is a very slow page that has no explanation of how to do then choose to leave the photo without the account

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Any failure that is going to happen in any app or program keeps me informed of the performance that is processing to be alert that if it is not fixed and the necessary measures are taken, the information that is saved can be lost that is why before it causes more damage fix it and thus avoid more problems

"Versatile product at a great value"

What do you like best?

Datadog allows you to collect and cross-reference various metadata about your application--it's wonderful to have APM, container health monitoring, and logs in one place. Also, I spent a LOT of time with Datadog support... and I mean, A LOT, because our use case (our app is Dockerized and deployed on Aptible) is not typical. The support team was, pun intended, dogged in their persistence to help me get Datadog working for us. And it's a great value, cost-wise.

What do you dislike?

The query functionality on the logs is not as advanced/flexible as I'd like, nor are the alerting capabilities. For instance, I'd like to be able to run a given log query (e.g., how many errors like X in the last 12 hours) and post it to slack or email or whatever, and right now this isn't supported. Also, for us to really get full use, we need them to offer a BAA, since we are HIPAA compliant. (Right now, we restrict what goes into Datadog to stay compliant.)

Recommendations to others considering the product:

If price is a concern, Datadog is the best value out there.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We needed a cost-effective log storage solution and we also really liked that we could get APM functionality in the same app--and we needed to be able to do it all in our particular infrastructure, namely we need to run a separate Docker container that runs the Datadog agent. We get the benefit now of having our metadata in one place for not a lot of money.

"Interactive boards in real time"

What do you like best?

Quickly drag and drop the graphs to visualize metrics and events

You can clone and edit dashboards with templates

Through API it automatically generates new scorecards programmatically

I visualize the graphics metrics with maps and main lists

I supervise specific points in a graph to alert the members of the work team about possible problems

You can apply internal access controls to control panels

What do you dislike?

When it is integrated with too many app you start to see delays in the delivery of information that can last minutes is not much delay but if it affects so that my work is fast because those minutes make me lose time and therefore take the option to unlink several integrations so that the datadog platform is the same as fast as a start

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

You can have an optimal monitoring of all the app that are installed in the system and know its proper functioning or a possible problem before it is caused because datadog realizes first and alerts on this to take the necessary procedures before the damage

"Problem solving"

What do you like best?

Indicates the success or failure of each app installed on the computers of the company and so know the performance of each if its functionality is correct or something is failing, looking for low performance solutions making each app work without any problem

It shows me the success of the service with codes that refer to the possible errors that are in the system or when there is a code in HTTP status indicates the success showing in detail well informed of each warning that produces

What do you dislike?

In the option that they have to use for a free period the platform does not have technical support enabled, but in the other paid plans if it is enabled but it is free, which if it is free it is obvious that to begin with I would have many questions but I had no one to answer it with the training tutorials I learned, but many things were missing that when I started paying I asked them but at the beginning I did not like that detail

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I have the control of the proper functioning of each app or each program that is installed and also the control of the malfunction that each program has and thus to know if the malfunction continues or the app or the program has to be changed for another that its operation if it is the right one

"Problem solutions"

What do you like best?

Quickly analyze possible problems that may be occurring in the system filtering the solutions that can be generated before an error that causes serious damage

We discuss issues in context with production data to notify teams of changes and see who responded to alerts

When they are critical issues datadog notifies the performance problems of any metric

I collect the service statuses visualizing the correlations with graphic data to establish alert conditions in the infrastructure

What do you dislike?

The beginning of the process for the initial configuration took a lot of work to learn as I started to use it because I could not learn all the vocabulary that was strange in a certain way because you had words that you did not know what they were talking about, it was the only thing that cost me because after having learned all the correct process I realized how excellent this platform is

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

You have an analysis of the system and the security that you are always alerting of any problem that will occur in the distant or near future to prevent serious errors in the system and thus always have the correct performance of each system and app

"Ability to detect problems"

What do you like best?

I find a software with a very advanced intelligence system to detect the alerts or performance problems of each system wherever the location is, which is well designed to validate all this information alerts with graphics that show in real time

notifies the performance problems that are affecting the system and this prevents that if it is a serious damage is solved in a quick time and not later when the system is more damaged and can not be easily fixed

What do you dislike?

The technical support I do not like because I ask them questions to which they respond with rather useless answers that do not give me a solution to what I ask or they make me review something that I tell them to review, I do not think that they have trained personnel to answer precisely in what you need to know

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

With the intelligence that manages this software it seems to me that the system is updated at all times and allows to see future problems that would be serious without solution and before this happens Datadog gives us the opportunity to correct these problems more easily to what would be a possible serious problem

"Monitor and solve problems"

What do you like best?

- I can have app performance tracking

- I have control of error rates and graphics with system latency percentages

- Detects and alerts about the performance problems of each user in the location where he is for his system

- saves engineering resources with self-maintained tests driven by AI

- I receive notifications to the email about the performance problems, either only from my network or a massive problem in the company

- the plans are economical are very affordable to buy

- helps to optimize the use of capacity in the hybrid infrastructure

What do you dislike?

The learning curve is very complicated because there is not enough information on how to do the initial configuration and the rest of the process to learn how to use it, and the little information that is in a complicated vocabulary to understand, contact me with support which If you explain some things to me and I pass a more detailed guide but in the same way I felt vocabulary that I did not understand

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Problems that can be caused by poor performance of the system warn about this in order to solve possible problems before it is a major problem and cause damage

I have control of the performance of all the app to know if its performance is correct

"Problem alerts"

What do you like best?

The database is safe because with datadog it keeps me informed of any alert that can be presented with any app program that may be failing and causing possible damage

The prices are very economical to know so good service that they offer that help a lot with this software with the advanced functions and the visibility of app like java, python, go and others

the support is very good solves quickly and easily any concern you have, are very kind and understanding

What do you dislike?

I do not feel that I dislike some datadog because all the experience I have had with this software has been very good and it has helped me a lot because if I do not understand something they explain it to me in an easy and simple way to understand

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Alert of any program that does not have its performance to 100% and that can be damaged without realizing it and it is too late to repair without arranging and losing information

you have complete visibility of all the app for ease of work so that everything is working correctly

"Datadog kind-of hard to use"

What do you like best?

The public dashboards are really useful for displaying and monitoring apps around the office. There are plenty of integrations and webhooks we can use to monitor our applications.

What do you dislike?

Training is hard to find, and when I do find it, a lot of the instructions are outdated, or not Windows friendly. The learning curve was higher for me, and it discouraged me from moving forward with Datadog. I've sent emails to their training team and they said they'll update their training content in the future to make it more Windows friendly.

The Monitor Report that gets emails if formatted strangely, where the top alerting monitors / top notification is summarized, a lot of the monitor names get cut off. Even if you click in the email to view the report in a browser, our monitors and alerts have to be named a specific way since we share the account with other divisions in the company, so the report just shows a bunch of our monitors with the same initial name [Department] - [Product] - [Container]/[Service], the names get cut off after Department and Product, so the rest of the report is harder to read -- I'd have to hover my mouse over to see the full name.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Training would be easier if you were on macOS or Linux, having Windows subsystem for Linux didn't really help. Windows is fine if you already know what you're doing.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are trying to monitor applications and set up alerts when things go wrong, whether it be CPU load too high, or RAM usage suddenly spike, we need to respond to these incidents and correct issues with our application.

"perfect app"

What do you like best?

the monitoring that Datadog poses about the apop in the cloud and the database servers of the company is something spectacular and very reliable because I can work on my pc computer with the peace of mind that the whole system is working well and that if something is for being damaged or eating a lot of resources Datadog is going to make it known to close programs or visualize the app that is presenting problems and solve them before it is too late and it is a more serious damage

analyzes the app and shows me a detailed report of how they are working and the performance that each one is having to know if the performance that is presenting is normal or is failing something

What do you dislike?

is a difficult platform to learn to use has a lot of concept that is not familiar and requires time at the beginning of the configuration to do everything right and that is a well configured system but it is worth learning because it provides more intelligence and is very useful

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

With Datadog I can be aware of all the servers to know the current operation and be able to know if any is affecting me that the system is slow to be able to close or that one is due to failures, is a good monitoring platform

"monitoring"

What do you like best?

through datadog you can have the tracking of errors that can be caused in the app and be able to solve them so that the performance of the app is still normal

is an excellent platform that analyzes and gives solution to the problems that can be caused in the computer so that it can be navigated to perfection and if there is any program that could be damaging datadog, it is alert about this possible problem

Not only alerts on a single computer but also alerts on performance problems to several users in the location where they are

I receive critical question alerts by email to be more informed of the system that may be causing unwanted damages to the company.

What do you dislike?

I do not see anything that I dislike about this monitoring platform I find the work it provides excellent to be calm that the computer or the app are good and will not lose information that is stored on the device

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The alerts that are sent are of considerable benefit because they warn of possible damages that may be caused and that can be fixed in time avoiding permanent damage or fatal damage

Analyze very well the performance of each app and the performance of the computer if it is consuming many resources

"It is a modern and different app"

What do you like best?

you can track a customer

Optimize resources

Detects usage patterns

you can set an alert notification message

It has more than 200 integrations and I see that more and more

What do you dislike?

It is a pretty platform but quite complicated to understand and to manage because of my position in the company it helps me to understand a little more but even so I feel that there are parts of this platform that I do not understand

I feel that this platform is designed more for professional people in the area with extensive knowledge in the system because if there are people who execute this platform without having a wide knowledge it can fail in the attempt of the execution and programming

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

you can maintain a more stable and safe monitoring when you learn to manage the platform well, each time you are finding a benefit that contributes more to the company

"help to obtain high income"

What do you like best?

The system events are pretty good. Datadog is very well designed to give visibility among the teams so that I can discuss issues in context of production data, write down the changes and notify my team, see who responded to that alert before, remember what was done to correct it and add their data together.

you only have to install agent and cloud integrations to bring metrics and events from your cloud and services in one place.

What do you dislike?

The configuration of this platform is just opened is very complicated I could not understand it I had to ask for help of engineering and support so that they could explain each of the categories I had already afterwards, it has made it easy to use it, but the first ones months I get headaches this app

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

is a platform that serves a lot to monitor the company's app little by little you learn to use it well you have to have patience and have availability to learn and that Datadog surprises us with its production ability

"cloud supervision"

What do you like best?

The free version offered to know it well before starting to pay I had a good idea of Datadog, I had my doubts if I was going to like it or not, that if it was good or not and I did not want to start paying for something that was not I knew how I was going to get out so I tried the free version and started using it and until now I have it, I liked it.

The attention to the client that they have from the beginning so it is free version and already later when it is bought it is equally good it does not change in anything and it is very fast

What do you dislike?

It is a great monitoring tool but to work properly, it is important to read a lot and see tutorials before starting to handle it. Everything is very complex, I have to ask for help from the engineers to understand words that said and did not understand what the icon was for or menu

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The supervision you have in the cloud helps improve agility and efficiency, I like to have this tool in the company

"Software that detects problems"

What do you like best?

With this software I can see the problems that I and my team have also the information of the system and infrastructure of the site, it works in different operating systems and this facilitates the work, you can create notifications when the cpu reaches a high level of use or when some system is inactive

What do you dislike?

the configuration process can take and be too complicated is not easy to learn to manage the platform from one moment to another, it requires a lot of time and knowledge to be able to achieve the correct way to use it so that everything is fine

Recommendations to others considering the product:

if you know about systems and have extensive knowledge to be able to do the Datadog configuration or have someone who can configure it, it is very useful for the monitoring of the system

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It provides good monitoring at a general level of the company and is very useful when it notifies the high use of the cpu because if it did not warn it could be damaged or some files would be lost

"Datadog - Complete tool for all types of application monitoring."

What do you like best?

Datadog is a tool that can not be absent in any company, of whatever type, where different applications of different types are used, with its powerful tool, you can carry out a continuous monitoring of many programs and applications that are used daily, in a Same place, I must say that the first time I used this wonderful application surprised me, it has an optimal integration and in our university we can monitor almost 90% of the applications that we use from Datadog.

What do you dislike?

Sometimes, due to the number of applications that we have integrated to Datadog, there may be certain bugs, or delays in the delivery of information, I have noticed in some cases, delays of up to 20 seconds, I do not understand why this is due When everything is connected to it, there should not be this type of delay in the delivery of information.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

By integrating the majority of applications to Datadoog, we can have an optimal monitoring of the different applications that we use in our university, of that we provide the best possible service to all our students, teachers, and all the personnel that make use of our applications, providing them, always the best quality of service, since since before them, they realize a possible problem, thanks to our monitoring tools, we are always one step ahead.

"Quick and it does not prevent you from doing several tasks at once"

What do you like best?

It does not hinder other tools that I'm working with, when I work in datadog it does not slow down the computer or I block it and that seems great to me compared to other platforms that when I open them slow down the computer and I can not work well

What do you dislike?

To put a profile picture in the datadog account, I have to register in another page to create an avatar and be able to put it in datadog I think it takes a long time to put a simple image should be upload a photo and go and not have to be registering in another page that takes me longer, choose not to put a photo that is not necessary and that I do not have time to be creating avatar

"monitor app performance"

What do you like best?

You can track the performance of each app you have

Quickly analyze the solution to the problems that may arise in the app and platforms

warning of possible damages that may be caused before the damage is greater and causes irreparable damage

calculate the rates, ratios, or averages and see the graphs in real time

you can receive the alerts by email if at the moment I am not in the workplace

I can silence all alerts with a single click

What do you dislike?

Basically this platform is aimed at professional engineers because the programming language it has is very complex that is only understood by engineers

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

it benefits at the moment that it warns about the possible damages that can be caused before the damages are greater and can damage the app or the computer, showing the graphs of the ones that are performing the most in the system

"datadog marketplace 100% leaders"

What do you like best?

System stats, software stats, API endpoints, events, dashboards, alerts, mobile apps, all in one. Datadog has a lot of pre-built solutions that you can implement in your infrastructure and if you will not find suitable solution you can build your own, great for AWS monitoring. Good customer support and documentation.

What do you dislike?

Lack of Azure monitoring tools, Datadog is very complex in building your own solutions. A bit too expensive for it`s functionality,Not very good for Azure if you are going to use marketplace solutions. Most of these are made for AWS and you will have to make something similar by yourself.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Mostly AWS monitoring, it can done something in Azure, but choise of solutions is very limited

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Contact helpdesk prior to build your own solutions, maybe you just didn`t find the same on marketplace,Monitoring of systems and services for production SaaS applications. It helps us discover issues both before and after they happen, and we use the dashboards both for system status and for business level dashboarding.

"Excellent tool for monitoring everything in your infrastructure"

What do you like best?

Datadog is a monitoring service that gives you a great overview of the state of your infrastructure at any given time. I like how it works almost out of the box with many popular frameworks such as nginx, celery and django. The documentation and tutorials provided on the official website are quite good, and since Datadog widely adopted, it's easy to get one's questions answered.

What do you dislike?

It is sometimes hard to characterize log messages to the desired severity. There's lots of widely used applications which log by default to stderr, and this causes Datadog to classify everything they log as an error, when it is not the case.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

If you have even slightly complex infrastructure (ie, more than three types of microservices running) then it's likely you can benefit from using Datadog to monitor that everything is running smoothly.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have set monitors so that we're alerted whenever our services are behaving in a way that could signify a problem (ie, database having high latency, high error rates in website etc)

We also have set up dashboards to have an overview of all our services and we use the Live Tail feature of the logs to see and share logs without needing to log-in to remote machines.

"Monitoring software"

What do you like best?

With datadog I can control everything that happens in the system that can cause damage

I have real graphics that show me in real time how the system performance is

The prices are quite cheap with many functions that are very useful to pay at such low cost

I trace the errors shown by the data logging system to see if they have a solution

What do you dislike?

The support should be more specific with what they say with their explanations are little understood and manage to confuse me without being able to solve the problem, I think the software is very good just need a little more attention from the support service

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I have a good tracking of the entire system infrastructure.

I have a very clear performance and if any application works correctly or consumes a lot of resources in the system

"My Experience with Datadog Cloud Based Monitoring Tool"

What do you like best?

Instant online chat support rather than waiting days for a return call. I also like that it is a java free web based program and that navigating the monitors via notification links is easy. Integration with an internal slack support channel helps organize monitoring into one channel rather than being mixed with email.

What do you dislike?

For IP monitoring the IP has to be live to do the setup, would prefer if the setup could be done without the monitor being online yet but there is also an advantage to making sure it is up as part of the setup so that feature is both a like and dislike. We have had issues with monitors getting stuck and having to be restarted to clear.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Their support is great, do not hesitate to pop up a chat any time you have a question. I was not involved in the actual pricing so I cannot speak to cost but I know the evaluation team would have taken it being affordable.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Notification of devices that need network connectivity being offline, disk space, and memory usage. Not having to deal with java and being able to edit my own monitors rather than having a system administrator exclusively responsible to manage monitors results in more timely monitoring and less missed setups.

"easy to monitor applications in the cloud"

What do you like best?

It is easy to manage to monitor the database in the cloud or servers, also integrates several cloud software tools, company and developer ready to use, maybe my profession is easy to use and is handled very well, from the principle I liked the technology that handled the platform so good

What do you dislike?

"One of the best monitoring tool"

What do you like best?

- It's written now in Go.

- Allows integration with many tools and applications

- Dashboards are just amazing

- You can write your own scripts to parse logs and integrate them

- You can monitor all your infrastructure on site or in the cloud

- Agent installation can be automated.

- Advanced graph functionality.

- High level of customization.

- Alert notifications via e-mail and PagerDuty

- Full API access

- Sampling intervals of 10 seconds

- Mute all alerts with 1 click during upgrades and maintenance

- Supports Windows, Linux, and Mac

- Datadog’s overall robustness

- Easy to create custom graphs and metrics on the fly

- Monitors resource metrics well

What do you dislike?

- Price. It's not cheap

- Heavy learning curve to several key features.

- Not very good for Azure

- The datadog agent eats a bit too much memory

- No significant cons, though I'd like to be able to monitor RDS health without integrating to the entire AWS.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Use the trial version, install some agents in your servers, enjoy

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We used Graphite as a monitoring tool. We had constant performance problems and system crashes. We started using Datadog and managed to obtain more detailed graphics, better dashboards, and a more reliable monitoring system.

"Datadog Works almost Like Magic"

What do you like best?

Although I'm not involved in the Deployment of Datadog, I use it's service often to review alerts, logs, and Server Statuses. Recently I was tasked with building a Dashboard in React/Node. When it came time to figure out how to import Datadog without API access I found it was extremely easy to just pull an iframe from whatever charts/graphs I wanted.

What do you dislike?

Although I don't have exact figures it's my understanding that Datadog is rather costly. All of the features are worth it though!

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Datadog is a great tool. Invest in the training for building dashboards and setting up proper tags/monitoring as it's well worth it.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Monitoring MANY (100s of Servers) all in one place and getting alerts anytime an alert threshold is met.

"Data collection at scale"

What do you like best?

Data Dog is really great at collecting data and give real-time perfomance metrics.

It is super flexible and work for all the technologies that we are using.

Also it is super easy too configure an alerting system like Pagerduty to notify us if something is odd.

What do you dislike?

Within Data Dog, the dashboarding is quite hard to figure out.

There is time were too much information is just disturbing. Data Dog could fall in this pattern if you don't design properly your dashboard.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Datadog is really great and simple to use. The are also adding new support for a lot of technology and programming language so doing hook is pretty easy.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Data Dog helped us to get realtime metric on basic object within our infrastructure.

It give what happened in what order. So debugging is much easier.

"Datadog is great for monitoring applications and ensure it’s performance"

What do you like best?

It is perfect for monitoring your applications performance, showing up all the relevant information in real time. With Datadog you can set alarms to notify any irregularity within the system. The API is very simple, so it allows integration with several applications or services. Besides, it allows for creation of a centralized source of data. About their costumer support, it’s very helpful and responsive.

What do you dislike?

Although it has many benefits when monitoring your system, it also has some limitations when it comes to report and analyze. It does not have the right tools for doing advanced graphing operations. Also, Datadog needs to be more robust in order to improve its comercial image and become more reliable to the audience. When it comes to billing, it isn’t completely straightforward, being confusing at times, while you end up without understanding the monthly costs.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Datadog is a great solution for displaying server metrics and trigger alerts whenever an issue appears. If you ever have any issue with the software, the costumer support will always be there to answer properly. However, I would not recommend Datadog for doing advanced mathematical operations. On those cases, it may be necessary to integrate with another BI tool.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Datadog is an excellent monitoring solution. We use it to monitor our applications and ensure it’s performing well. It is adopted across the entire company, but it is managed by the IT department. It’s perfect for tuning our software applications. I consider it as a key solution for our company, ensuring our infrastructure with a fast and reliable service.

"Online data review program"

What do you like best?

The good thing about this program that I have the confidence to upload data over the internet and that it is safe for me as a user, and it is like leaving the house and leaving the door open with the security that everything is fine when returning

What do you dislike?

I just do not like it because there are many users who do not know about this program and it would be good if it had more publicity and so the new users would be sure of their data over the internet, it would be easier to manage this program if you have it on hand for be used with confidence

Recommendations to others considering the product:

I recommend you to use this Datadog program because it gives you a security and confidence for your data on the internet do not stop using it if you want to try it and know it better, do not stop talking about this program as it will help them to have confidence and security when they are searching for data security on the internet

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

For the companies in an excellent program because through their data on the Internet they have the security and confidence that all the information that they manage as a company will not be stolen, and their benefit is to provide better service to the users who need in their pages of Internet that when asked for a requirement can go with confidence that their data can not be seen in all social networks.

"Datadog for visualization of the server infrastructure"

What do you like best?

Something I especially like about Datadog is the endless integration options it provides. It works perfect with platforms like Slack and AWS. The dashboards always show all the relevant information on the same screen, especially when it comes to graphics. They’re also easy to customize and read. The interface is modern and intuitive.

What do you dislike?

Although I think the interface from Datadog is great, I think it lacks of options for configuring agents, so it can make this process quicker. Something Datadog really needs is to be woven into codes, in order to gain independence and become more efficient. Other than that, I consider Datadog to be a great tool.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

If your job requires writing, testing and running applications, which occasionally generate large data, then Datadog would be a great tool for viewing this information graphically. If you work with other tools, you can always integrate them with Datadog. On the other hand, I would not recommend Datadog for process level metrics, as I think other tools, like Zabbix or Icinga, could work better on this.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Datadog is our tool for the proper visualization of the performance of our server infrastructure. We use several tools from Datadog, specially the dashboard functionality to get a general and yet quick view of the current state of our environment. Whenever there’s an issue with our servers or websites, Datadog will always show accurately where’s the problem and when it was detected.

"Who knows what is slow? DataDog!"

What do you like best?

I pretty much only use the APM part of the software since that is most useful to my job (Developer). I can spent 5min in DataDog to identify work for the next week.

Integrating in existing product was very easy, setup and maintenance are easy. Does not feel like it adds any overhead to the app.

What do you dislike?

There are a few features I would like to see as a developer, support is generally open to ideas, but it rarely ends up being implemented.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

For complex applications you will need use customized tagging. Also, sql my by obfuscated a little bit too much.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It is really hard to know what is slow, and if it is slow does it actually get used. I often encounter "slow" pages while writing code, but these might be things only used two times a day. With DataDog I can find useful overviews from the production environment to what is actually slow and used. There seems to be no performance impact by DataDog tracer at 100% sampling.

"A solution for monitoring applications and servers in real-time "

What do you like best?

Datadog has powerful integration. Practically, it can be supported with almost any service and it provides data collection with specific metrics and time series. The price is another great factor from Datadog, making it available and less expensive than the competition, especially for micro-services.

What do you dislike?

This is not an easy software to learn. The learning curve is heavy and it will take some time. The UI is rough and it’s something that definitely needs to be improved. Alerts are not precisely easy to set. This feature should be simplified.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Considering its price, Datadog is would be great for cloud-centric companies looking for a monitoring solution. However, beware you may need to take some time to learn how to configure it properly, in order to get the best of it.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

On the dev-ops section, inside the IT department, we use Datadog as our solution for monitoring in real-time our applications and servers. All of them have DataDog Rest API implemented. It gives us a great visual of the resources used by the CPU and the ability to set alerts in case of emergencies.

"Datadog as Perfect monitoring tool."

What do you like best?

Perfect monitoring tool.

You can monitor your infrastructure as on premise as in the cloud by monitoring performance counters of different applications and collecting information from logs.

You can monitor your infrastructure as in real time mode or just receiving alerts for example to email.

It allows you to use different ready solutions with predefined logic for to monitor even different software such as: SQL Server, MySQL and so on.

It can be integrated with different products such as slack, where you can receive different alerts and where slacks bot can perform setuped actions.

You can create different dashboards for your convenience.

What do you dislike?

No suitable for all cloud services, for example if you're going to monitor your infrastructure in Azure it would be better to use Azure's Log Analytics.

This solution is not for non-experienced users and required time to learn it . Features used in free price tiers very limited for example no alert capabilities.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Not suitable for all cases but can be used in some ones. If you are using Azure you can use it's native tools, but if you're going to monitor AWS or on premise infrastructure it is good choice, plus it has several pricing tiers to test and decide if it is suable for your company.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Monitoring premise and AWS infrastructure.

This monitoring tool can be accessed from any device from anywhere by using app or just browser thats very convenient.

"Flexible monitoring for your solutions "

What do you like best?

Datadog allows monitoring of everything you need without deploying additional hardware or utilizing storage in your datacenter. Most of your possible needs are covered by API marketplace, where you can find lots of solutions for different use cases. You have access to both current state of resources and history of this state, so you can analyze your issues in retrospective manner to find out what was going on that time. Monitoring of both availability and performance of your services by utilizing performance counters, log analytics and alerting on specific events. Great email and communications tools integration for notification purposes, allows to monitor your systems proactively and find possible issues before actual impact for your resources.

What do you dislike?

Complex APIs settings to get desired result. No off-line solutions and tools, cloud residence is cool and modern approach, but some systems can not be exposed to public internet because of security concerns, and local proxies can affect the speed of data transfer

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Even wide range of use cases will not cover all your needs, sometimes you willmhave to find another solution.

"Monitoring is one of most important parts in DevOps process"

What do you like best?

Datadog is cloud based solution, perfectly working with monitoring of your cloud deployments, wide range of different solutions on marketplace, good set of APIs, log analytics. You can not only see current state of your resources, but have a historical data for the same, so you can find the bottlenecks in your systems and get rid of these. If you will not find what you need on marketplace you can always develop your own solution and use it. Somebody told that it is very hard for new users, but it is not true, you just need to have some patience, when exploring the documentation. And you can always contact helpdesk, team if very responsible and will be able to help you finding appropriate solution for your needs

What do you dislike?

Not very good for Azure if you are going to use marketplace solutions. Most of these are made for AWS and you will have to make something similar by yourself.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Contact helpdesk prior to build your own solutions, maybe you just didn`t find the same on marketplace

"We get graphics that show in real time the total performance of the system"

What do you like best?

Datadog is a great software for monitoring, provides a great overview of the state of the infrastructure at the time you want, the information and help that gives us the official website is very useful and quite good, I can have control of everything that happens in the system that could cause damage, we get graphics that show in real time the total performance of the system, besides the prices are quite accessible and also has many functions taking into account the good price.

What do you dislike?

The support should improve a little, because when I have any questions and contact their explanations are not well known and can confuse me and I still leave with the same doubt without giving solution to the problem, however Datadog is a software that will comply with the work offered .

Recommendations to others considering the product:

You will need Datadog if you have a complex infrastructure, with Datadog you can control the whole system very efficiently and realize at any moment when something is wrong. It is also super simple to use and will not need more help

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Thanks to Datadog we have been able to mount monitors that can alert us when we have some problems, such as a dataset with high latency, We have been able to configure dashboards to have a complete view of all our services

What do you like best?

"Great SaaS monitoring"

What do you like best?

System stats, software stats, API endpoints, events, dashboards, alerts, mobile apps, all in one. Also basic APM and logging. Cloud integration plus agents, and extensible checks. Beats using something like nagios hollow.

What do you dislike?

Expensive at scale, very little discounting.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Monitoring's complicated. If you just take the defaults on graphs and alerts you're not necessarily going to be seeing what you want to see - you have to understand the sampling and available analytics and stuff, it's simple to set up but can be complicated to get a visualization or alert that really gives you what you want. Support can help a lot, though.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Monitoring of systems and services for production SaaS applications. It helps us discover issues both before and after they happen, and we use the dashboards both for system status and for business level dashboarding.

"Great monitoring tool for your solutions. "

What do you like best?

Datadog permits observing of all that you need without conveying extra equipment or using stockpiling in your datacenter. The greater part of your conceivable needs are secured by API commercial center, where you can discover bunches of answers for various use cases. You approach both current condition of assets and history of this state, so you can dissect your issues in review way to discover what was happening that time. Observing of both accessibility and execution of your administrations by using execution counters, log investigation and cautioning on explicit occasions. Incredible email and specialized instruments joining for warning purposes, permits to screen your frameworks proactively and discover conceivable issues previously genuine effect for your assets.

What do you dislike?

Complex APIs settings to get wanted outcome. No disconnected arrangements and apparatuses, cloud living arrangement is cool and current methodology, however a few frameworks can not be presented to open web due to security concerns, and neighborhood intermediaries can influence the speed of information exchange

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Agonizing in setup, yet unfathomable after go-live.

Try not to dither to include numerous reconciliations, look through the coordination screens and include "everything" you have. regardless of whether you don't have explicit esteem now in a particular mix you may have a particular corralation of history required later on. ""Fast and it doesn't keep you from completing a few undertakings on the double""

What do you like best?

Framework details, programming details, API endpoints, occasions, dashboards, alarms, versatile applications, across the board. Datadog has a ton of pre-manufactured arrangements that you can actualize in your foundation and in the event that you won't discover reasonable arrangement you can assemble your own, incredible for AWS checking. Great client support and documentation. It does not prevent different instruments that I'm working with, when I work in datadog it doesn't back off the PC or I square it and that appears to be extraordinary to me contrasted with different stages that when I open them back off the PC and I can not function admirably

What do you dislike?

Absence of Azure observing apparatuses, Datadog is unpredictable in building your own answers. A bit unreasonably costly for it's usefulness There's loads of broadly utilized applications which log naturally to stderr, and this causes Datadog to arrange all that they log as a blunder, when it isn't the situation.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Generally AWS checking, it can accomplished something in Azure, however choise of arrangements is very limited,If you have even marginally complex foundation (ie, multiple kinds of microservices running) at that point it's probable you can profit by utilizing Datadog to screen that everything is running easily.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have set screens so we're alarmed at whatever point our administrations are acting in a way that could connote an issue (ie, database having high idleness, high mistake rates in site etc)being ready to screen all the framework of the cloud enables us to know about everything that occurs, regardless of whether great or awful

"Great easy to use service "

What do you like best?

Easy to set up custom metric collection and dashboards. You get a lot of metrics collected automatically when you integrate with cloud providers like GCP. You get a lot of insight out of the data you collect.

What do you dislike?

High price. Charged per. We're migrating off of it at work because we can't prevent it from charging us for every new ephemeral host we start with Dataflow on GCP etc. Usage based billing would make more sense.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Be mindful of cost. May not be compatible with serverless styles.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Tracking whether data is flowing in pipeline. We use data to drive analytics and recommendations engine, so this makes sure our uptime is as high as possible.

"Functional monitoring"

What do you like best?

A lot of features that are able to work out of a box, you just need to install agents and you are in. You can find much more special APIs on marketplace to extend basic functionality. Good analytics platform allows to find bottlenecks in your infrastructure and fix at proactive basis instead of reaction on incident. Does not requires additional resources on your infrastructure as Datadog is provided as a service. The only really working Docker container monitoring solution we were able to find

What do you dislike?

Installation and configuration can be painful for non-experienced users. Not very clear reporting capabilities. Most solution requires additional customization to be suitable for your needs. Not very straightforward pricing policy often makes users confusing about budget planning for Datadog

"Datadog has proven invaluable"

What do you like best?

The Datadog team keeps building new features that we need before we even know we need them! They are so quick to add features and fix bugs that we report.

What do you dislike?

Not really a dislike but their APM and logging still lag behind some of the more mature products out there. They are rapidly improving both though and they're very much usable.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Definitely do a POC with Datadog. You'll be surprised at how easy it is to on-board employees and get them building monitors and dashboards. It's better than what you're using for monitoring and is rapidly becoming a great logging and APM solution.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Building monitors and alerting on what matters rather than just alerting on any issues that arise. It's allowed our NOC to be more efficient in responding to critical events by filtering out the noise. It also provides a detailed yet simple view for non-engineer folks to see what's going on throughout our network.
