**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2024

**What do you like best about Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS)?**

Things such as fargate and managed nodegroups compliment the EKS pretty well. Took me less then 2 weeks to finish an all rounded POC using terraform for the entire setup. Would reccomend.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS)?**

With its configurability comes complexity. You would have to learn a bunch of tools such as karpenter to even have the basics of a production grade cluster.

**What problems is Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Compared to kubeadm which we currently use, EKS is widely used and therefore slightly easier to debug due to detailed documentation provided by aws. Fargate helps us on cost optimisation due to granular scaling.

The AWS managed node group is the best park of EKS service. Never imagined it ll be so easy to administer the kubernetes cluster.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS)?**

AWS Managed clusters sometimes enforces an intermittent service degradation. Ideally it should be 0 downtime upgrade but that doesn't happen always.

**What problems is Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use EKS clusters to run Kong service mesh and some other kubernetes apps.

  ### 24. Kubernetes cluster deployment and management on AWS have become incredibly simple.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** ARJUN V. | Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 17, 2023

**What do you like best about Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS)?**

The fact that Amazon EKS is a fully managed service is one of the aspects of it that I like the most. As a result, I can stop worrying about the supporting infrastructure, including the worker nodes and control plane nodes for Kubernetes. All of that is handled for me by Amazon EKS.
I also appreciate how seamlessly Amazon EKS interfaces with other AWS services. For instance, I can use Amazon Auto Scaling to scale my Kubernetes automatically clusters up or down in response to demand and use Amazon CloudWatch to monitor my clusters.
The advantages are that it is a fully-managed service , integrates well with other AWS services, easy to use and scalable.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS)?**

A little bit expensive. Not as flexible as self-managed Kubernetes

**What problems is Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have a Kubernetes cluster where private data is kept. To assist me in securing my cluster, Amazon EKS interfaces with AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM). As a result, I am confident that my data is secure.

  ### 25. Well managed and cost effective - EKS

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Simran R. | Cloud Engineer, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 24, 2023

**What do you like best about Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS)?**

It is well suited once you need to have a Kubernetes cluster in AWS Cloud and need to maintain a strategic distance from all the administration overhead of keeping up your claim cluster in terms of the control plane. It's simple to coordinate other k8s tooling with EKS like a lens(IDE for k8s) etc. It is exceptionally simple to convey to a distant degree it moreover decreases the time to convey as compared to the manual arrangement.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS)?**

Not a dislike, but I believe AWS IAM integration with Kubernetes RBAC could get better.
Empowering a few add-ons like service mesh, and observing will be decent rather than having to introduce them yourself after the creation of the cluster.
EKS bootstrap time may well be speedier in upcoming time.

**What problems is Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is easy to adopt, the cluster management is also good and the management of the control plane is also good. Also, migrating workloads from ec2 VMs to containers running in Kubernetes is a huge improvement in the manageability and resiliency of the infrastructure.

  ### 26. Kubernetes management and use made easy via eks

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kshitij T. | Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 27, 2023

**What do you like best about Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS)?**

Being the regular user of Amazon eks what I like the most about eks is it is fully managed, having master slave architecture master is fully managed by aws team, you just need to take care of your own slave nodes.
This enables the user to focus on actual problem and eks deployments instead of managing the eks only.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS)?**

Production infrastructure needs to be highly available and stable when eks used in production infrastructure it needs to be stable, there are some instance where eks goes down and I turn affects the pods running in them.
Example being :- If vpc cni goes in degrade state it affects the whole eks cluster this should be managed by eks team with zero down time.

**What problems is Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Containers are the future, application deployment on elastic kubernetes service are highly available making deployment super fast and reliable.
Problem solved:- High speed of deployments and easier rollbacks in case of failure.

It offers free tier for one year then you can choose pay per use model and the cost associated with AWS services are less when compared to other service providers s.

It has rich documentation which you can refer and work with the resources and the scalability and elasticity features of AWS are best as you can scale your application as per needs.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS)?**

I don't have any dislikes with AWS services and I think it's one of the best service provider when compared to Azure and GCP and offers wide range of services to work.

**What problems is Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The best thing olabout cloud services are it eliminates infrastructure setup as all infrastructure is taken care by AWS and it helps us to scale our applications as per needs instead of commissioning resources upfront as it reduces cost.

**Reviewed Date:** August 17, 2023

**What do you like best about Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS)?**

Access to a lot of services which fulfill the requirments for different apps. Also with managed services, it is easier to focus on the application part rather then get bogged down by infrstructue reated details.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS)?**

Some of the services are not available in every region and we are sometimes restricted where can deploy the service.Similarly the limits and the expected performance of the availble services vary from region to region.

**What problems is Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ability to try new technologies and bring them to market at a very fast pace. This gives us the leverage to experiment without getting bogged down by infrstructure related dependencies.

  ### 29. Best in market solution for Kubernetes as a service

**Reviewed by:** Sachin A. | Staff devops, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 11, 2023

**What do you like best about Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS)?**

The ease of use and less complexity. Automation around EKS and the supporting tools makes it go-to solution.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS)?**

Nodegroup management and the ability to bin pack the workloads.

**What problems is Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

EKS takes away a lot of heavy-lifting tasks for creating the EKS cluster. Managing the control plane is the biggest struggle and EKS have solved it by providing the managed service for the same.

  ### 30. Easy to setup and maintain with very high robustness

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Archil K. | Machine Learning Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 02, 2023

**What do you like best about Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS)?**

EKS is best fit for kubernetes applications because it's very easy to setup and provides lots of built-in functionalities that takes care of all the tedious tasks like autoscaling and DNS binding that makes it easy to use.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS)?**

EKS does not support some of the developments of kubernetes. To be specific, tools developed by k8s community. Other than that I didn't find anything difficult or tedious about using it.

**What problems is Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before implementing Kubernetes, our portal was fragile. It saw many downtime because of resources overload, whereas EKS autoscaling solved our this problem and when portal goes down EKS automatically recreats another container making it highly available.

  ### 31. Experience of using amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service is awesome.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Naman J. | SDE-1, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 30, 2023

**What do you like best about Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS)?**

It creates master nodes, and we only need to generate worker nodes. It installs all necessary applications, such as container runtime and master processes, takes care of the scaling and keeps backups easy to use.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS)?**

It is costly; most of our cost borne by the company is due to aws service; moreover, we need to manually update any new update, although it helps to check the current version; sometimes nodes do not recover automatically.

**What problems is Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1. It is effortless to use in terms of containerised scaling applications, and no hassle in managing it.
2. The Amazon EKs team can always help if anything is not working.
3. Scaling nodes depending on the situation helps a lot in terms of cost.

  ### 32. Amazon EKS

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 10, 2023

**What do you like best about Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS)?**

Nice integration with existing AWS services like ELB, S3,RDS etc
Its easy to get started with k8s with the help of managed service like AWS EKS, that hides some internal complexity and reduces the learning curve.
EKS is priced as pay as you use, so its more cost effective for smaller workload and cost transperncy is there
Its easy to intergrate other k8s tooling with EKS like lens(IDE for k8s) etc

**What do you dislike about Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS)?**

vendor lock-in, like other AWS services there is vendor lock-in espcially if you use it with other AWS services like S3, dynamoDB, ELB etc and later on moving to some other cloud provider can be a daunting task for you.
Its not the cheapest service in the market and some of its competitors offers almost same functionality as a considerable less cost

**What problems is Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Simplifying the k8s management and operation
Easy to adopt the k8s using AWS EKS, without EKS in AWS doing this yourseld can be a very complex process espically if you are new to k8s eco-system

  ### 37. Best managed Kubernetes service

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rahul S. | Devops engineer, Construction, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 24, 2023

**What do you like best about Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS)?**

Earlier we were using EC2 to host our application backend APIs but our main problem was scaling, in peak hours we used to replicate our application on some other EC2s an update the traffic from Nginx settings, but this manual effort was hectic and random. So to minimise this issue we adopted EKS, it autoscales our system, we are using HPA for that, also it has nominal cost.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS)?**

Overall I haven't seen any disadvantage yet, but sometimes debuging it's issue becomes over head, like backoffs error, livelines, readiness errors, but its best practice to adopt this feature for best user experience.

**What problems is Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We had scaling issue for our backend APIs but after adopting this we were able to solve this, we can autoscale on memory, CPU usage and network traffic, thats all what we looking for.

With a few click and configuration, you have a Kubernetes cluster up and running. No manual setup is required.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS)?**

As it is a managed service from AWS, we don't have control of master nodes, so we cannot customize according to the requirements

**What problems is Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We don't have to set up different physical servers for worker nodes. We have to pay only what is utilized.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gianluigi M. | Freelance IT Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 23, 2022

**What do you like best about Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS)?**

Maintenance overhead needed when you install a self-provisioned K8S cluster is very high. With EKS maintenance of master nodes is not needed anymore. The reliability of the service is another plus. Furthermore, the easy integration with vertical cluster autoscaler allows to scale up/down nodes saving a lot of money.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS)?**

Managed master node means you can't have totale control over the cluster. Limited network management is an example. Support for the latest version of K8S is usually not really fast.

**What problems is Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With EKS we can concentrate our team effort on the infrastructure and on our applications. No more problems related to the master node management, down status, upgrades and so on. Excellent.

**Reviewed Date:** June 21, 2023

**What do you like best about Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS)?**

It's absolutely wonderful of how managed your kubernetes architecture has been made so that you can focus on your actual work. For me it's getting rid of management of kubernetes components that helped me the most here.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS)?**

I guess the only thing is it's logging system. I feel it could have been better if we could see container logs / events directly on console it could be better.

**What problems is Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were hosting our application on EC2 machines and it was a monolithic application. So EKS helped us break it down to microservices and then containerizaion of those applications.
