Benefits support software helps employees get the most out of their benefits. Also known as benefits communication or benefits decision support software, these systems are used to educate employees about benefit options, such as insurance plans and changes, and facilitate guidance throughout enrollment. Organizations and HR departments use these solutions to streamline the process of communicating about and signing employees up for benefits, thereby saving time and money. Benefits support products frequently offer employee portals and self-service options to enable employees to view, update, and manage personal information, documents, and plans.

These systems are most commonly used by HR departments, helping HR managers to administer benefits packages. Some benefits support software helps companies maintain compliance with federal and local regulations, including the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
