What do you like best about Bizzabo?

As an Event Operations Manager at a mid-sized organization, my primary responsibility is overseeing the entire lifecycle of our corporate events, which range from intimate regional workshops to large-scale annual hybrid conferences. I use Bizzabo as our central command center to handle everything from launching the initial registration websites and managing speaker portals to executing seamless onsite check-ins and facilitating virtual streaming. We essentially use it to bridge the gap between our field marketing efforts and our sales pipeline by capturing detailed attendee engagement data throughout the entire event journey.What I appreciate most about Bizzabo is how it consolidates a traditionally fragmented tech stack into one unified ecosystem. Before this, we had to patch together different platforms for ticketing, mobile apps, and virtual streaming, which was a nightmare for data syncing. With Bizzabo, the data flows effortlessly. Their attendee mobile app is fantastic, very intuitive, and adoption rates among our users have been incredibly high. However, the absolute standout feature for our onsite operations is their Klik SmartBadge technology. It completely gamifies the networking experience for attendees, allowing them to exchange contact information just by clicking their badges together. This not only elevates the attendee experience but also provides my team with incredibly granular data on session dwell times and foot traffic patterns, which is invaluable for future event planning. What do you dislike about Bizzabo?

Despite its robust capabilities, the platform falls noticeably short when it comes to design flexibility. The website and email builders are heavily template-driven, which constantly frustrates our graphic design team. When we try to implement custom branding or specific CSS overrides to match our corporate identity, we hit a wall because the system is quite rigid. Furthermore, the backend administrative interface can feel very cluttered and overwhelming. When managing multiple overlapping events, navigating through the nested menus to find a simple setting takes way too many clicks. I also find their native reporting tools to be somewhat basic. If I need a highly specific cross-event analytical report, I usually have to export the raw data into Excel and build it myself. Finally, the pricing model is quite steep for a mid-sized company, especially because crucial features like advanced integrations or premium onsite support are treated as expensive add-ons. What problems is Bizzabo solving and how is that benefiting you?

The biggest hurdle Bizzabo eliminated for us was the chaotic onsite check-in experience and poor sponsor ROI tracking. In the past, syncing our registration lists with our CRM took hours, and walk-in registrations caused massive bottlenecks at the front desk. Now, the integration with our CRM is instantaneous, and the QR code check-in process takes seconds, eliminating lines entirely. A very specific problem it solved recently involved our event sponsors. Our sponsors used to complain that manually scanning QR codes for lead retrieval was awkward and slow. By implementing Bizzabo's wearable networking tech, sponsors simply clicked badges with attendees to capture leads. After our last major conference, our sponsor satisfaction scores skyrocketed, and we actually secured early renewals for the following year simply because the lead retrieval process was so effortless and the data provided was so accurate. Ease of use - it is super clear what to do and where to find the information you need. I was a speaker at a recent event and when logging in it opened right to the Speaker Hub which had my session front and center and I could see how many people registered for the session, and click through to see who they were.

It housed all the pertinent event information clearly.

Event logistics were easy to access and following our event we can still see attendee engagement and networking. Most found it easy to navigate through the different features and the performance of the app stood up to the entire day without any issues. We had almost 500 people registered to use this app for our one-day event. Honestly, the only real drawback is that their updates can sometimes introduce minor regression issues that end up breaking existing features. It’s not a dealbreaker, but it does mean you need to be disciplined about testing everything in a Sandbox environment before pushing any updates to Production. What do you like best about Expo Pass?

I love ExpoPass!! I’ve used a few different platforms over the years (and sat through many, many demos), and I haven’t seen anything that compares. You can instantly print attendee badges (or have attendees print them themselves, though we’re very white glove with our process), make changes on the spot, and manage everything right from the iPad or your computer—and those updates are instant. I’ve had so many attendees comment on how impressed they are with the check-in process, and I’ve recommended ExpoPass to countless other event leads who come to our events. There’s honestly nothing I don’t love about ExpoPass! The only thing I’ve noticed recently (and it’s probably user error on my end. What do you like best about Fourwaves?

The first thing that stands out for me is how [sensitive content hidden] and his team are always eager to help us get the best out of our event using their Fourwaves platform. It is easy to communicate with this small yet dynamic and engaging team, and they respond to our questions quickly and effectively. Fourwaves itself is user-friendly and allows anyone to build a customized platform for their event with a professionnal look. The many options available allow us to create different pages for applications, attendance, and our sponsors, so several aspects of the event's organization can be centralized into Fourwaves. Each one of them can be customized and updated in a matter of minutes, which makes this platform a fantastic tool for people with limited experience in coding and website management who want to plan medium to large-scale events. What do you dislike about Fourwaves?

What problems is Fourwaves solving and how is that benefiting you?

I am part of a student association organizing a conference evening for the general public. I need a platform where people can submit their talks, while people from all the community can register to participate online or in person. As a student association, all our work is volunteer, and we have limited funds to organize the event. Fourwaves is thus a great platform to centralize all our management in one place, while showcasing our sponsors' contribution and other highlights of the evening. Sequel is incredibly lightweight and easy to integrate directly into our landing page, which was a big win for us. The embedded experience feels native and well-designed, which matters a lot when you're putting your brand on the line.

What really stands out, though, is reliability. Live events carry a ton of pressure. There's no room for things to go wrong when you're live in front of an audience, and Sequel has never let us down. What do you dislike about Sequel.io?

As a designer, the biggest gap is customization. Sequel gives you a clean out-of-the-box experience, but when you want to go deeper with branding and layout control, the options feel limiting. More granular design controls would make a huge difference for teams that care about a polished, on-brand event experience.

On the production side, the showrunning and backstage editing features could use more depth. When you're managing a live event, you need flexibility in the moment, and there are times where the controls feel a bit restrictive for more complex productions.

Pricing is also worth mentioning. It's reasonable at entry level, but the jump in cost as your needs grow can feel steep, especially for smaller teams that are scaling up their event program. Our facility needs a financial database to house our financials and help run our events, momentus has solved that for us. We also need a way to categorize, record, and send contracts and with the docusign integration we are able to do that. The level at which momentus functions is not teachable to the general public and I think that is a good thing. You must have an understanding of accounting or events to work in this system. What we like most is that we can use Brushfire for everything, and it has saved us time and money by allowing us to handle team registrations and sell tickets for our NAHL and NA3HL teams to fans in one simple, easy-to-use system. The biggest problem Brushfire has helped us solve is handling registrations for the NAPHL/NAHL Prospects Challenge team and our Try Out Camp.

In the off-season, registrations used to be a huge task with the way we were doing it. We were spending multiple hours a day copying registration information into spreadsheets for our coaches. With Brushfire managing the registrations, and after a little bit of setup, it automatically emails our coaching staff separate spreadsheets showing who registered for what.
