## About Propel
Propel helps product companies grow revenue and increase business value with a unified platform that delivers PLM, QMS, PIM, and supplier management capabilities—all powered by embedded AI. Our solution connects commercial and product teams with a single, continuous product thread that accelerates decision-making, drives process efficiencies, and empowers teams to deliver compelling products and experiences across all customer touchpoints. Product Lifecycle Management (PLM): Propel PLM delivers practical, embedded AI that enhances everyday product and quality workflows with real-world use cases—accelerating change reviews, summarizing complex product records, identifying BOM and quality risks, and guiding users with context-aware insights. Built for modern enterprises, our PLM supports complex product structures, global teams, and regulated environments without sacrificing usability. Quality Management System (QMS): Propel QMS is a complete, enterprise-grade standalone solution that can be deployed independently with all core modules included out-of-the-box—CAPA, Complaints, NCMR, Audits, Deviations, Training, Equipment Calibration, and Supplier Quality. Purpose-built for medical device manufacturers, our cloud-native eQMS reduces validation burden with comprehensive documentation packages (FDA 21 CFR Part 820 & Part 11, ISO 13485:2016, EU MDR) and delivers measurable results including 100% audit pass rates and 8-week rapid deployment. Product Information Management (PIM): Propel PIM is a purpose-built solution that centralizes product data, attributes, and digital assets into a single, trusted system of record—designed to support complex product catalogs and fast-moving go-to-market teams. With Propel One AI embedded directly into the platform, PIM becomes an intelligent, automated system that enriches product information, identifies missing or inconsistent attributes, and summarizes complex product data using trusted, governed sources—accelerating content readiness and maintaining consistency across channels while requiring no dependencies on PLM, ERP, or commerce platforms. Supplier Community: Propel's Supplier Community enables secure, authenticated user access for external suppliers with role-based permissions that protect IP while enabling efficient collaboration on parts, BOMs, quality records, and projects. Launch faster by directly connecting suppliers to internal engineering, quality, and operations teams in a shared workspace, eliminating handoff delays and reducing miscommunication—all without requiring Salesforce. Propel has a proven track record of improving product quality, accelerating time to revenue, and increasing customer satisfaction. Recognized multiple times as a Deloitte Technology Fast 500 winner, Propel drives product success for hyper-growth startups, corporate pioneers, and Fortune 500 leaders in the high-tech, medtech, and consumer goods industries.

**What do you like best about Propel?**

I like best that I can build my own processes. I like the system being customizable and user-friendly.

**What do you dislike about Propel?**

**What problems is Propel solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Propel moved us from a paper base QMS to an electronic one, which made the control and accecability of the records and documents significantly better.

I like the platform that Propel is based on. It is very configurable to meet our business needs

A separate subscription to Salesforce Cloud is necessary for the amount of cloud storage we required.

 ### 16. Propel Software for User Friendly and Configurable PLM/QMS solution

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brent L. | Director, Enterprise IT Quality, Commercial, and R&D Systems, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 24, 2022

**What do you like best about Propel?**

Propel is a very configurable solution that we have been able to tailor very nicely to our unique needs and to create workflows and data structures to support and facilitate our business processes. Having all the functionality of a QMS and PLM in a single solution provides great data continuity across the solution. Further, having it built on Salesforce allows for a customer-centric QMS/PLM if Salesforce CRM is also used. This is very unique and just how a QMS/PLM should be.

**What do you dislike about Propel?**

The configurability of Propel is a bit of a double-edged sword. It is a great strength but does require the user community and IT admin at a company to really think through what is being built to ensure it is appropriate and scalable. The only core part of Propel we have found lacking is the training module. Propel offers read and understand training to documents with a quiz but is not a full blown LMS solution with engaging training content or SCORM capabilities.

**What problems is Propel solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Propel to manage our Document Control and PLM, Complaints and Adverse Event reporting, Calibration and Maintenance of Equipment, CAPA & NC, Supplier Management, Read & Understand training, and audit management.

 ### 17. Highly configurable and customizable, and yet also easy to upgrade with enough core PLM functions.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Calvin K. | PLM Leader/Product Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 29, 2022

**What do you like best about Propel?**

Highly configurable and customizable, and yet also easy to upgrade with enough core PLM functions - Change management, product structure, collaboration, supplier access, document management, integrations using MuleSoft, etc. Robust on the Salesforce platform and flexibility to develop with LWC.

**What do you dislike about Propel?**

No full capability to manage end-to-end BOM's through the entire BOM lifecycle and different child versions of the master product BOM - concept, development, production, manufacturing, costing, plants, etc. No OOTB integrations to major MCAD, ECAD, and software development systems.

**What problems is Propel solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Besides replacing an un-upgradable out-of-date on-premise system, we are able to develop and digitize other NPI processes such as APQP and PPAP that are done very manually today.

**Official Response from Alex Mohring:**

> Thank you for your review. We would like to call out some capabilities of which you may not be aware.

First, Propel does offer OOTB integrations to major authoring systems. Details about our supported integrations can be found here: https://www.propelsoftware.com/products/integrations. Also note that a key advantage of Propel is its openness. The robustness of the Salesforce platform means that we can quickly integrate to other enterprise systems. So even if a desired integration is not listed here, we can efficiently deliver it.

Second, Bill of Materials (BOM) management is a core strength of Propel. We have several key capabilities that make revision history extremely easy and intuitive:

BOM Redlining - When BOMs are edited, users can easily add, remove or replace components which then appear graphically as a redline within the BOM. Deleted items are red (with a strikethrough) and new items are green. Minor changes like an attribute modification are shown with a red dot to draw the users attention to the change.

BOM Comparison - As BOMs are revisioned over time, Propel displays the most recent, but also keeps a complete history of every revision. Not only does this provide easy access to previous revisions but also provides a graphical way to compare any two revisions. The same BOM redlining is used to graphically highlight the differences.

BOM Compare across products - In addition to comparing BOMs between revisions, Propel allows users to compare different products or items. For example you may want to study the difference between printed circuit assemblies between two different product lines.

BOM Costing rollup - To better understand the product cost, Propel allows you to roll up total costs, including direct, indirect, and tariff expense.

Field Replaceable Units - To support design for serviceability, Propel enables you to identify parts or subassemblies as “field replaceable units,” which help make servicing fielded products more productive.

Full change history capture - Propel captures all aspects of change history over time including item changes, workflow and lifecycle process used, approvals and rejections, signatures, and dates.

Comments and discussions - In addition to more formal information, Propel provides in-line “Chatter” which captures discussions between the parties involved to provide contextual collaboration.

Concurrent change support - Propel supports the ability for multiple people to create modifiable drafts of a BOM and make changes concurrently. Once the first person approves and releases their changes, all other BOM drafts are updated with the new revision details without losing any work.

Support for rigorous industry standards - Propel enables companies to comply with rigorous industry standards, including 21 CFR Part 11 and 820 requirements for audit tracking. This allows you to review the full history of any item at any time, including full revision history through the current version.

 ### 18. One stop shop for QMS, Parts, BOMs, Quality activities, projects, suppliers, AVL.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Medical Devices | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 23, 2022

**What do you like best about Propel?**

There are so many helpful features! Lately I've been enjoying the projects module for managing our phase-gate processes for product development.

**What do you dislike about Propel?**

The email notification system is my least favorite aspect. Emails and reminder emails should be easier to manage. It feels a little all over the place.

**What problems is Propel solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Propel is solving the problem with MPN by implementing the Silicon Experts integration. This is going to be a very valuable feature that we look forward to using.

 ### 19. Great product.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jean-Francois T. | Director, Digital Transformation, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 01, 2021

**What do you like best about Propel?**

It is entirely built on Salesforce, which makes it very customizable.

**What do you dislike about Propel?**

The data model is very complex, and some junctions are generated via Apex, making the mapping even more difficult. To support the complexity of the solution, there are many custom components that were built. This makes the administration different than what you would generally do in Salesforce. Not an issue if you've mainly worked in Propel, but some of our more experienced Salesforce Admin need to change their mindset.

**What problems is Propel solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having the PLM on the same platform as many of our other systems (Salesforce) makes the administration much more straightforward. It reduces the number of integration points that need to be managed. We now have a full 360 view of our products from conception to support/quality.

 ### 20. Scalable and Capable PLM and QMS Tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chad L. | Director, Corporate Business Systems, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2021

**What do you like best about Propel?**

Our ERP and CPQ are on the Salesforce platform, so we needed a tool to manage Product data and documents in a multi-company design. Propel was a natural fit for us to single-source and harmonize our product dataset on the Salesforce platform. We now have a line of sight to all Quoted and Sold products throughout their product lifecycle.

**What do you dislike about Propel?**

Defining the Product Category Hierarchies is a little clunky and does not migrate well from Sandbox to Production environments. However- that is being very picky. There is not a lot of downside to this purpose-build application.

**Recommendations to others considering Propel:**

If you are using the Salesforce platform and need to centralize your Product data for multiple down stream systems (ERP, CPQ, QMS, etc..), Propel is the perfect fit.

**What problems is Propel solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed to single-sourcing product data and documents in a multi-company design. We can quickly set up and maintain product data in our ERP and CPQ using one system- no dual entry.

 ### 21. Propel Admin and user

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Medical Devices | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 03, 2021

**What do you like best about Propel?**

It is an electronic QMS system and has modules for most of our needs
Trying to improve my grade so that I get more points on the Propel scale, with buz words like Change control and PLM and QMS and CAPA, NCMr and training recors module.

**What do you dislike about Propel?**

Lots. The preview and collaboration functionality is really discouraging. The whole point of an electronic system is to not have to download and upload documents all the time. In that regard, our paper system worked better. The preview needs to be able to preview a word document accurately with images and charts, etc. The other thing is that the number of clicks it takes to get somewhere, like from the ECO title page to the actually document preview can sometimes be 5, 6 7 clicks (and waiting for salesforce). Then the back button does not take you back one page but so far back it is another 3 or 4 clicks to be able to review the next document in the ECO. There must be a better way to go backwards.
To get to the preview link 'button', it is always buried way off to the right after a bunch of other columns that are never populated.
we have a five digit part number with no prefix o suffix. if the part is 04275 the search engine does not find it if you search for 4275. it does better if you search for 042. Why can't it search more intuatively.
Tha's enough

**Recommendations to others considering Propel:**

Check the preview function
Check the searching capabilities
Do you want to be able to collaborate and review and comment on documents while in Propel or outside of Propel?
Don't try the DIY setup, implementation and administration like my company

**What problems is Propel solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Moving from a paper-based system and having all apps in Salesforce ecosystem
tracking training better
tracking CAPAs, NCMRs and Complaints.

Complaints was one of the first modules to implement and get working.
If I can improve the scor of this survey then I have wasted my time

**Official Response from Dario Ambrosini:**

> Thank you for your review. We do our best to ensure every customer is happy, and I believe we can help here. Most of the points raised appear to be related to how Propel is configured for your particular implementation. These configurations can be changed by your internal administrator to create the user experience you seek.

You mention your company did a DIY setup, implementation and administration. Propel’s Customer Success team can help by providing best practices as well as step by step instructions on how to make configuration changes. Please reach out to us at support@propelplm.com.

 ### 22. Propel Implementation Review

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Electrical/Electronic Manufacturing | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 13, 2021

**What do you like best about Propel?**

Complete feature set with hands-on support; rich set of configurable industry-standard workflows

**What do you dislike about Propel?**

some features are not working quite as well as expected, and twice we've experienced platform releases that have disrupted business operations

**What problems is Propel solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having PLM on the same platform as sales and bizdev is a huge bonus

 ### 23. Satisfied with overall product experience

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Electronics | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 02, 2021

Cloud-based platform with good user experience

**What do you dislike about Propel?**

No significant downsides as such, expecting few improvements in areas of sharing, variant management, etc.

**Recommendations to others considering Propel:**

Easy to use cloud-based PLM platform

**What problems is Propel solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Responsible for Configuration management. Benefits are - easy to use platform for product configuration.

 ### 24. The service you need to improve the operation of your business and guarantee to offer high quality.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Medical Devices | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 06, 2021

**What do you like best about Propel?**

Propel is a software that is characterized by its great performance and effectiveness to handle customer complaints, find solutions to problems that present products or services and allow users to provide a high quality service. The software is perfect to accelerate the commercialization of products or services, help increase quality processes, carry out detailed follow-up of employees among many other tasks, which allows to increase the effectiveness of the business operation. The service has a very affordable cost even for small businesses or companies, which is a great advantage, the service is based on the web, has a very well structured interface, its design is quite elegant and orderly, it should be noted that despite its learning curve it is an interface that once people get used is easy to use.

**What do you dislike about Propel?**

The tool, being so complete in terms of all its functions, leads to a learning curve for beginners, I consider it necessary to see more training to help new users integrate more easily into the operation of the service. As for faults, I can say that I have viewed very few so I really have no complaints, since the service works very well to cover all our needs.

**Recommendations to others considering Propel:**

Propel is quite advanced and functional software that I recommend for all kinds of companies and businesses, since it is very easy to implement, has a super accessible price and its innovation is unquestionable. Personally, I have been working with this service for several years and. experience that he has given us has been incredible, it is a very good alternative and his reputation provides a lot of confidence due to its great solidity.

**What problems is Propel solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Propel is considered a great tool for my company because it is very useful in many aspects, since we can handle complaints from our customers, increase the quality of our services, provide efficiency to our marketing and know our employees in depth, allowing us thus, efficiently completing all of our objectives, easily face multiple challenges and drive the growth of our business.

 ### 25. This informative self-management software positions your company quickly.

**What do you like best about Propel?**

Its quality management helps to quickly solve product problems, improving the quality, design and guarantee of compliance with the effectiveness of the acceleration and commercialization of new products, with detailed monitoring of the operations carried out by the company. , including certification delivered to maintain consistent workflow compliance, preconfiguring a successful response system with predictive intelligence.

**What do you dislike about Propel?**

The propulsion interface is somewhat inaccurate, where I was able to identify a programming error, in which your system becomes completely slow and not very functional, which is evidenced by activating commands of established patterns to carry out activities, attenuating your Product data mobilization capacity, where the corresponding benefits cannot be obtained as established with its joint operational guarantee functionalities.

**Recommendations to others considering Propel:**

Flexible joint integrations constitute the acceptable and professional management of the progress and the affinity of the life cycle of the processes with the client, editing the quality management of the information used by the client, admitting the cost of projects, personalization of product specifications and variability in collaborative tools, with high-tech manufacturing with quality enhancement devices that help resolve product issues and customer complaints.

**What problems is Propel solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I managed to consolidate a healthy and fresh appreciation of my products by connecting the safeguard process system and corporate support and carrying out delivery processes of my products, forming an appropriate customer recognition council, where I accelerated the time of commercialization and sale of the product, managing its value chain, accelerating the operational development of the assisted coloration of propulsion software towards the company, where I was able to communicate with employees, suppliers and partners, from the office or by digital means, complying with certain parameters of market regulations.

 ### 26. Good product. Too expensive. Unnecessary forced training.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sara D. | Co-Founder & CEO, Civic & Social Organization, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 10, 2019

**What do you like best about Propel?**

It helps us stay organized. That's truly the value of the product.

**What do you dislike about Propel?**

It is way too expensive for what it is. And the sales team forced us to do and PAY for onboarding training that we kept insisting wasn't necessary for us. That really started our relationship out on the wrong foot.

**Recommendations to others considering Propel:**

Consider all of the products available. All of the companies offer great products that provide the same function, so you are really deciding based on team + support. I would give the product a B+/A- and Propel a C+/B- in that regard.

**What problems is Propel solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Organizes our part numbering, our BOMs, and changes. Helps us communicate what we need to our factory.

 ### 27. A Useful PLM

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Allan T. | PLM, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 01, 2019

**What do you like best about Propel?**

Cloud based, so the setup is super simple. We were up and running in a matter of days. The user training they provided was pretty straight forward if you have used a PLM in the past. The admin training was also a bit more complex as it run off of salesforce and I didn't have salesforce admin experience in the past, but their support and their help center website has provided all the help I needed so far.

**What do you dislike about Propel?**

The fact that it's built off of salesforce is a good thing and a bad thing. It is customizable, but at the same time there are too many different things that could be done.

**What problems is Propel solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a startup we were pretty unorganized, so our main goal was to get things in order. BOM management and ECO control.

 ### 28. I am head developer in m companny

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marcin T. | Salesforce Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 02, 2019

**What do you like best about Propel?**

How the item revision view allow me to compare revisions. The idea of board from project with view of all of the activities. Ability to customize some views and layouts.

**What do you dislike about Propel?**

That there are screens or popup windows that I can't control what is displayed on them. The fact that it is easy to block multiple items with one big change. I do not like that creation of related list the way you advice to is not working if there is formula field with hyperlink in it. I have request from my sell team to have hyper links there.

**Recommendations to others considering Propel:**

Please make sure you will have time to adapt. This app is good but huge at same time so getting it to do it's work will require at least one of your employees to get to know it good and then teach others.

**What problems is Propel solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The problem of changes in items. Whole change idea is well done and stops our employees from making mistake.

 ### 29. Great product but still learning

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Darin C. | E-Commerce Manager - Wall Decor, Consumer Goods, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 09, 2019

**What do you like best about Propel?**

I like the organization and layout of our product details. The chatter function has become invaluable asset to track progress and managing projects.

**What do you dislike about Propel?**

The inability to query from different objects. Not able to store and share product images outside of Propel. We resorted to using a 3 party platform to house our images and link them to Propel.

**What problems is Propel solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We now have standard system of housing product data, spec sheets, product photography and certifications.

 ### 30. A powerful and effective PLM

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Allen P. | Information Technology, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 05, 2019

**What do you like best about Propel?**

It has a great layer of personalization and a flexibility to adapt your work and your interests to the tools that the platform gives you. It makes the work much simpler to have that possibility of personalization also wide.

The range of possibilities the program is quite broad, which allows you to use it in different areas. You can use it to approve documents, store files, review lists of products used and also in areas such as the marketing section of your company to review products, customers ... In short, one of its best aspects is that you can integrate it into different areas of your company for the accomplishment of different tasks.

**What do you dislike about Propel?**

Performing some functions is complex and also requires ample learning time. That you can use the program in multiple areas of your company and that it has extensive functionalities means that you can take some time to learn how everything works.

I think they should improve the search function within the system because many times when I look for something I should look for it in different ways and in different places until at the end I see where it is located.

**Recommendations to others considering Propel:**

It is important to have tools such as Propel in a company that facilitate the execution of tasks, review of documents and the management of the projects you are doing.

**What problems is Propel solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Project management, task review and document validation are now done much more quickly and efficiently than before.

Different areas of our company have improved their quality at work by using the tools within Propel. An example of this is the area of commercialization, as we now better check the details and data of sales, users and we can better review the information obtained to improve the quality of our global service.

 ### 31. Propel has been much more than a PLM for us.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Christopher B. | Senior Director of QA , Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 01, 2019

**What do you like best about Propel?**

The flexibility is what most impresses me about the tool. You can create Custom layouts, workflows, Views. The Audit trail feature is a must for a medical device company.

**What do you dislike about Propel?**

I would say the training material. It is difficult to find help guides on more detail topics. That said the support team is excellent.

**Recommendations to others considering Propel:**

If you want a one stop shop for managing most of, if not all your manufacturing / quality records Propel does the job.

**What problems is Propel solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Well, it is our PLM. We also use it to manage the following artifacts and records:
Design History File (DHF)
Risk Management File
Usability File
Device History Records (DHR)
Full Supplier Management Process
Tool Qualifications
Device Master Record (DMR)
Complaint Management & Recall management
Calibration
CAPAs
ECOs, DCOs, MCOs
Management Review Records
Purchase Requests
Etc Etc Etc.

 ### 32. I am software developer

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Damian K. | Mr, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 07, 2019

**What do you like best about Propel?**

Archiving documents in one place, it very helped employees in keeping documentation. BOM - project management system - a big plus is that it works in the cloud. Propel is very easy to adapt to the company's needs.

**What do you dislike about Propel?**

The large complexity of the system, even the experienced employees have a problem with some functionalities in the propel. There are no applications for the mobile phone, and the mobile version of the site looks very poor and is not functional. The system is not very intuitive, the graphic design is outdated.

**Recommendations to others considering Propel:**

Put more emphasis on training employees from using Propel.

**What problems is Propel solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Problems solving with propel:
- dealing with items in company
- integration with external systems such as, for example Shopware

Benefits:
- control over what users do
- process automation

 ### 33. Awesome PLM & QMS System!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Medical Devices | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 09, 2019

**What do you like best about Propel?**

The most helpful element of Propel is the ability to search on any field and category, and some form of a result will appear.

**What do you dislike about Propel?**

Propel, at times, can be a bit weird to maneuver around and customize, as customization definitely feels like taking a thousand steps to get one customization implemented.

**Recommendations to others considering Propel:**

Keep up the good work, it surely is enjoyable to use!

**What problems is Propel solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Instead of using Excel, as we have for a long while, we are able to concurrently and simultaneously create and edit multiple items in one session, saving us a lot of hassle and efforts.

 ### 34. Propel user for 3 years

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Peter L. | Peter Lockett, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 10, 2019

**What do you like best about Propel?**

Version control management for sku's that have repeated parts across multiple sku's. It's important we know what version of the products we are building and propel is our tool that manages this.

**What do you dislike about Propel?**

We have a hard time managing soft goods in this platform as the platform was built for hardgoods.

**What problems is Propel solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Version control as mentioned above.

 ### 35. I would recommend Propel to any size company

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Goods | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 02, 2019

**What do you like best about Propel?**

The best thing about Propel is the intuitive user interface. It was not only extremely easy to set-up and learn, but it has been extremely easy to teach new users and on-board new employees. We have quickly populated Propel with data and began the process of controlling all of our documents and Bill of Materials in just a few short months.

**What do you dislike about Propel?**

There is very little that I do not like about Propel. Our team has had great success with usage and integration into our process. The main dislike is in regards to the Propel Zendesk website for getting help with problems. It is very difficult to search and find answers, however when I email Propel Support, I am quickly steered to an answer by the salesforce team.

**Recommendations to others considering Propel:**

This is a more modern, very easy-to-use version of other more established PLM softwares. Be open to changing to Propel because it has great capabilities as a cloud and phone based PLM system.

**What problems is Propel solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The primary business problem we solved with Propel was implementing a document management and document control system for our specifications, artwork and Bill of Materials. We had a strong need to store our documents and route them for approvals and then send the official documents to our manufacturers. Propel allowed us to do this.

 ### 36. Organized and user friendly

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Renewables & Environment | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 07, 2019

**What do you like best about Propel?**

Easy to locate product information for PLM needs.

**What do you dislike about Propel?**

Would like to be able to update a unit price for a part number in one tab called, Pricing. One direct and central location to make costs updates. Would also like the export of BOM XCL to be cleaner as we currently have to go comb through the export and format as needed, and sometimes correct the top down BOM Cost.

**Recommendations to others considering Propel:**

The support team is very willing and easy to work with. Also, the tutorial materials they have available are great resources to learn from.

**What problems is Propel solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PLM all together. We didn't have a clear process in the past for our PLM cycle. We have been able to communicate engineering changes efficiently, which helps with our purchasing processes as well. Also, it has provided a leaner communication process to our BD team as the sales team can see current product costs.

 ### 37. Propel is a solid PLM software

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Darcy P. | General Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 09, 2019

**What do you like best about Propel?**

Propel is easy to use and they provide excellent customer support. They also have quality and project management software to compliment PLM.

**What do you dislike about Propel?**

I would like to have full automation between Propel and Salesforce.

**What problems is Propel solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Part numbering consistency, Engineering Change Order standardization, Project Management reporting.

 ### 38. Product Catalog and Provisioning

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 10, 2019

**What do you like best about Propel?**

Propel is easy to use. It integrates with Salesforce and internal systems, like Microsoft SQL server. I like that it's accessible via the standard Salesforce API.

**What do you dislike about Propel?**

I'd like more robust reporting and to customize the display. Better support for importing data via excel, not just CSV.

**Recommendations to others considering Propel:**

Export your data into Excel prior to implementing Propel. This will speed up the implementation.

**What problems is Propel solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Lifecycle management and product catalog. Surfacing the product data in the same system that our market teams use for daily activities.

 ### 39. Great Customer Service!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Robyn S. | Quality Engineer, Pharmaceuticals, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 17, 2019

**What do you like best about Propel?**

Propel is an intuitive and easy-to-learn system. The customizability and flexibility of the system is great, but what I really love the most about Propel is their great customer service. I'm able to reach out at any time and reach a full staff of knowledgeable individuals who provide me everything from links to learn things on my own, webinars and demos to watch, or step by step instructions on exactly what I need to do. As someone who is learning the Salesforce platform and PLM systems for the first time simultaneously, this has been a great resource for me.

**What do you dislike about Propel?**

There are a few cases we've run into where there are not quite enough controls in place to support our needed quality regulations and specifications. We've always been able to find work-arounds, but sometimes it would be nice to have a clear solution for those sorts of issues.

**What problems is Propel solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Propel provided us with a much more intuitive and easier to use PLM system than our previous solution. We have seen review times decrease for our change orders , which is a huge positive in our industry. We plan to integrate more of our Quality Management System into Propel as well, which will also help to cut down on unnecessary manual documentation and processes that slow down work times and make us less efficient than we can be.

 ### 40. Steep learning curve but definite long term results

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Robert S. | Engineering Communications Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 15, 2019

**What do you like best about Propel?**

We have multiple facets to our business from design and manufacturing to marketing. We are able to use Propel as a one-stop shop to take care of BOMs, approval of documents and storage of important files with a known approval status and history. Files can be kept together - for instance Word, Illustrator and PDF files of the same document (the draft, the page layout and the releasable version) are easily bunched together so that version control and later editing is pretty seamless.

**What do you dislike about Propel?**

The learning curve is quite steep and some of the functions are non-intuitive, (although perhaps less so for people with a Salesforce background.)

I don't like the sense when I know a document is in the system but for some reason I can't find it in a search. This may be because I am searching in the wrong way, but nevertheless it is frustrating. In one case I think I could not find a document until it had been exploded out of the BOM that wrapped it. This is not a useful search as I may know a document (an image in this case) exists, but not know where it resides - hence the search.

My other main gripe is that an approval request requires too many clicks. I would like to receive the request via email and with one click open the document to be approved. Instead there is a series of 6 or 7 clicks, each with a few seconds dwell, before I have the actual document open before me.

**Recommendations to others considering Propel:**

Get training in small chunks and do the initial training multiple times until you have really got the basics. Ask the dumb questions. It's easy to become lost even after one successful training session.

**What problems is Propel solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We had poor document version control and rapidly ballooning manufacturing and inventory management issues. Propel has proven to solve these issues for the most part. In some cases the most senior people can't be convinced to become adept at using the system, and certainly the large number of clicks to find the item for approval is a stumbling block here. But to the extent that most staff use the system we have solved these two quite distinct and major issues in the one tool, which is very satisfying.

**Official Response from Miguel Tam:**

> Hi Robert - thanks for your review. We'd definitely like to help address any concerns you have, especially since many of our customers find our product to be extremely intuitive. Propel's top goal is #1 happy customers, so I hate to see anyone even a little bit unhappy. I'll have our team reach out to you to see if we can help make things easier for you. Thanks again for being a Propel customer!

 ### 41. PropelPLM Review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brandon Z. | Senior Product Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 24, 2019

**What do you like best about Propel?**

Low IT overhead with a clean interface and already built on a platform that we know (salesforce).

**What do you dislike about Propel?**

I would love to see more best practice / usage information, as well as instructional videos. I know we improve and expand upon how we're using Propel, just need the right inspiration.

**What problems is Propel solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With Propel we can ensure that engineering, operations, and manufacturing are always on the right hardware revision, it keeps design change and collaboration simple and understandable.

 ### 42. PLM streamlined

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Deb S. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Propel?**

Interface is easy to customize from an Administrator viewpoint and on the End User standpoint, very user friendly front end. The tool is instrumental in scaling the small business quickly due to ease of use and excellent communication through email or chatter. I can quickly correct errors using ORB or enforce best practices for users with business rules that are easily turned on. The beauty of this tool is the ability to add new functionality such as Quality and Program Mgmt whenever because it’s included. There are fantastic support gurus at Propel always ready to troubleshoot problems ASAP!

**What do you dislike about Propel?**

1. I have not used Lightning Experience yet because of time constraints to learn the new front end. It’s looming ahead of me as a requirement because the Classic interface is being phased out. It seems that both options should remain available but I do understand the reasoning to support 1 UI. Hopefully there will be some Admin training offered.
2. Multiple Changes can be written against an item but can not be routed until the first change is released through workflow. This limitation impacts the Deviation also as a subsequent change can not release until the Deviation is expired.

**What problems is Propel solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Configuration Mgmt, Change Mgmt, Release Mgmt. This is a small Marketing / Engineering driven company that focuses on development. Originally the CM managed the original product BOM configuration and changes were not managed correctly for parts & documents/DWGs. This resulted in a very difficult deployment of the initial release into Propel due to revision conflict between parts/DWGs. Propel has been instrumental in resolving this issue which was critical for the launch of new products.

 ### 43. Propel does everything that I need it to and it is pretty easy to use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Electronics | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Propel?**

The system if fast to use, some PLM systems I have used are so slow to respond. Don't ever slow it down. The search works well as does the approval process

**What do you dislike about Propel?**

I can't preview a STEP file, would be nice to add this support and support for other engineering files like gerber files
There is no App available, it would be useful to be able to approve ECOs in situations where China is waiting for something to start the line, need the approval but I am out at dinner with family and they have to wait till I get home

**Recommendations to others considering Propel:**

It certainly helped having a consultant on board who knew the system inside out could set it up for us, solver the teething problems and to train us fitting in with busy schedules.
Note that preview is not available for engineering files only common document files. This is something propel could fix.

**What problems is Propel solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Approval process before factory implements changes

 ### 44. Propel for eQMS

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Goods | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 09, 2019

**What do you like best about Propel?**

User friendly and very intuitive. It is easy to customize

**What do you dislike about Propel?**

System doesn't seem to have a general configuration, but rather our module was what was set up for another customer. Wish the implementation team would have worked more with us

**Recommendations to others considering Propel:**

Bit of a learning curve, but not too difficult

**What problems is Propel solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Transition from a paper based QMS to eQMS to ensure compliance
Easy to have all docs in one place
Training simplified

 ### 45. What I expected from PLM

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Electronics | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 10, 2019

**What do you like best about Propel?**

All the normal PLM features + modern in context chat and ability to customize

**What do you dislike about Propel?**

Salesforce UX is not my favorite for useability

**What problems is Propel solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're just implementing so I have high hopes but no clear wins yet.

 ### 46. High tech solution to a complicated problem

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brian M. | Mechanical Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 18, 2019

**What do you like best about Propel?**

My favorite parts about Propel are the ease of use (cleanliness of UI) and the ability to customize the rules for your specific organization.

**What do you dislike about Propel?**

We work with a few very old school contract manufacturers and at times it can be difficult to export and print things the old fashioned way.

**Recommendations to others considering Propel:**

It is extremely helpful when you are picking up a PLM tool to create formats and organizational rules early. Create part naming conventions, document uploading rules, maybe pick a document czar from your organization to handle quality so that you have a clean, uniform system. Otherwise, things maybe become messy and unsearchable.

**What problems is Propel solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have special design cases that sometimes require "interesting" and creative solutions and Propel allows us the freedom and the agility to create use cases, revision rules, and tailored reporting for filtering results. We also tend to design, revise, and catalog on the fly, so as soon as we come up with new parts and assemblies, we can quickly lock these revisions and share them with our colleagues.

 ### 47. Quality Focused

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tim B. | Sr Business Systems Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 03, 2019

**What do you like best about Propel?**

Propel Implementation was very simple and straight forward. Once our processes were defined we were able to quickly implement to the organization. We started with the Quality Management Processes so that we could fill a gap on other process improvements. We found an powerful tool in the PLM and are continuing to implement that process globally.

**What do you dislike about Propel?**

Salesforce does have some limitations on the page layouts. Form the most part I don't have any dislikes of the system.

**What problems is Propel solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are continuing to solve problems around ensuring Quality controlled information is traceable and visible to the rest of the organization.

 ### 48. Seems Like a Good Concept

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 17, 2019

**What do you like best about Propel?**

The personalized support that we received from Propel was excellent.

**What do you dislike about Propel?**

We were never successfully able to implement. It was difficult for the team to understand the big picture and how it would integrate with our current SAP system and Salesforce since each lives independently. It was no fault of Propel, I think as a company, we were not ready for an application like Propel, there were other items to be defined first before bringing in Propel.

**Recommendations to others considering Propel:**

Make sure that you have a fully defined ERP system prior to implementation. This product does require a person to really push it's full adoption, otherwise the amount of work out into the setup will never be fully recognized. We have had access to Propel for over 2 years and I have yet to see it deployed.

**What problems is Propel solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were looking to better organize our product list along with the bundles that they belonged to. It grew into trying to gain a better understanding of our margins and all of the costs that are baked into a product.

 ### 49. Corporate Compliance Auditor/ Propel Implementation Team

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Medical Devices | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 16, 2019

**What do you like best about Propel?**

The Flexibility of the Propel Team. During initial creation of how we would use the system, the team on site were very helpful and flexible. A+ customer service.

**What do you dislike about Propel?**

Perhaps the pricing strategy for licenses and the difference in cost between the licences. Ranges from 8 - 90$.

**Recommendations to others considering Propel:**

From a training perspective, really think about how you want to organize training. the use of Plans are great but, if its not properly organized it can be really difficult to maintain. Consider the end user. My recommendation is to get everyone the basic access to the system, so everyone can use the system to its highest capability. Its very intuitive, even those with basic (or less) computer skills can use the system for training. I think that is really where you get your ROI.

**What problems is Propel solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Training compliance, with the training module is, in the long run, going to be a huge benefit, in relation to compliance and retrieval of records. Initial implementation is alot of work but well worth the work.

 ### 50. Implementation was a brief

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Yan K. | Operations Program Manager, Consumer Electronics, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 17, 2019

**What do you like best about Propel?**

Intuitive to use, Flexible and Customizable, Built on top of Salesforce, very responsive and accommodating customer support.

**What do you dislike about Propel?**

Nothing major. It will be great to have chat option for customer support.

**Recommendations to others considering Propel:**

If you plan to have other solutions on Salesforce, there is an advantage to having PLM on Salesforce as well.

**What problems is Propel solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Streamline BOM control and parts qualification process.
