Overall, I think it’s a good value for what you’re getting. **What do you dislike about Rootstock Cloud ERP?** I think the administration of Rootstock is too complicated. It’s impressive how much you can do as an administrator, but the setup isn’t well organized or clearly defined, and it can quickly become overwhelming. Another challenge I’ve run into is inconsistency in the data name(s). I can see one data name on the screen, but when I go to create a report, I can’t find it because it shows up under a different name. I would like to see timely product improvements/features. A couple years ago we were pitched a "rental" model for those of us with a rental business, but we still have not seen it. **What problems is Rootstock Cloud ERP solving and how is that benefiting you?** We needed an ERP system that could sync with Salesforce and still be affordable, and this solution met those requirements. ### 2. This gives us the ability to access all the information in one place and make it visible to whoever needs to see it within our organization. **What do you dislike about Rootstock Cloud ERP?** The only thing that has been somewhat of a problem is the quality of the upgrades (although they are focusing on improving on this in 2024), but you as a Customer also have the ability to test as much as you'd like in Sandbox before you upgrade to make sure everything is running properly. **What problems is Rootstock Cloud ERP solving and how is that benefiting you?** It's helping us to do a better job of knowing when to order our ingredients before we run out. Also, once predictive AI is built into the product, it will give us an edge over our competitors who don't take advantage of it themselves. ### 4. User training is generally shorter if you already use Salesforce. Rootforms are a great tool. Using the Salesforce reporting tool to extract ERP information. **What do you dislike about Rootstock Cloud ERP?** With customizations we run the risk of upgrade issues. The financial package can be tricky to navigate. While reporting is great, we need to refine the report types to ensure that users can create their own meaningful (and correct!) reports. **What problems is Rootstock Cloud ERP solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are hopeful that Rootstock will: - Improve a specific limitation surrounding the out of the box DRP functionality. ArchFab relies heavily on collaboration between finance, manufacturing and construction. Rootstock gives us the visibility and real time information to be successful in our growth plans. Getting the entire business of fincance and operations on a single platform has allowed all of our users to function at a high level. **What do you dislike about Rootstock Cloud ERP?** As with any implementation, building your system is a challenge but ArchFab was able to do this during the perilous 2020 when most workers were remote. I did not have much experience with other ERP systems and Rootstock is very logical system. IF you follow the training and successfully enter and clean your data, the system flows and you can access the data from various avenues. Our post-implementation support has been extremely helpful in navigating some of our errors in implementation (from our consultants). Suggestions by the Rootstock team to "turn on" various features that were not done during implementation have made a significant difference in our efficiency and abilty to analyze our data (i.e. Financal Analytics). I use the system everyday and the ability to export information is key for my work. **What do you dislike about Rootstock Cloud ERP?** One of the downsides in reporting is that you cannot access each available object in every report. There is the ability to link reports together, but that is very technical (but also could be due to my lack of understanding). There are alot of upgrades that are being rolled out and it is difficult to keep up with the number of upgrades. **What problems is Rootstock Cloud ERP solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our entity was very unique and complicated as we were acquired from a large conglomerate. We had a deadline to implement the system as the previous system was going away. As such, all functions had to be up and running at time of Go-Live. So every aspect of the ERP system is being utilized and helping us to run the business. Every function had to be addressed with this ERP system...especially shipping out of a new warehouse. Some integrations with shipping software had to be done which has worked out very well so far. Various automated features have been implemented as well which saves a significant amount of time (i.e. automatic invoicing, automated monthly statements, integration with Amazon, etc.) ### 9. Tremendous collection of useful data and processes. Inventory Management #1 for inventory control and manufacting heavy companies. **What do you dislike about Rootstock Cloud ERP?** The accounting modules and external financial reporting are extremely weak. Multiple Customer Masters, the inability to send timely AR statements and only one email recipient for customer invoicing is an issue. The inability to create proper financial statements (need to upload into Excel) is a waste of time and resources. Having Asian languages support that user in Japan operate natively. **What do you dislike about Rootstock Cloud ERP?** A minor browser issue. Lightning Experience sometime not work well with Mac OS Safari (Ver 13), not system issue but caused by Safari aggressively blocked pop-up window. Basically Safari = Classic Mode (which is better for Admin User), Chrome/Firefox = Lightning Experience. Basically Windows user should have no problem. **Recommendations to others considering Rootstock Cloud ERP:** To compare with other ERP system, Rootstock is certainly an easy to use system. Standard function may not fulfill all requirement, but having professional support and flexibility to customize, it is not too difficult to achieve any target. Cloud ERP is not just a trend or fancy gimmick. Rootstock is mature system for real, running business that we recommended for who are still considering. **What problems is Rootstock Cloud ERP solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are serving Japanese Manufacturing Company, some Lot number control that original system cannot fulfill. Having Rootstock consultant's support and provide solution, tailor made Lot control is perfect now! Document in classic email template was a big problem! We have found that their MRP system is second to none. We love using Salesforce Reporting to access every bit of production, costing, and inventory data. Their support never ceases to amaze us--they just understand manufacturing. Their mobile integration is the next big thing for us to move into. **What do you dislike about Rootstock Cloud ERP?** They move so fast that we can't keep up with their enhancements--we have found that they have solved problems of ours without us even knowing it for a year or so. **Recommendations to others considering Rootstock Cloud ERP:** Prepare your company for MRP prior to launch by making sure you have decided what you are going to use Rootstock for and have all fields populated in Excel. Have a member on staff learn how to move data in and out of the Salesforce Platform. **What problems is Rootstock Cloud ERP solving and how is that benefiting you?** We doubled in size the year after we implemented Rootstock --after 20 years in business-- because we could finally manage our raw materials. Five years later we doubled again. The biggest unforeseen benefit was the ability to sell custom manufacturing online and basically eliminate the CPQ process. ### 14. Fairly easy to implement. Based on Force.com platform which has a huge user base and many apps that can meet individual needs. Rootstock's employee's have valuable and real experience in manufacturing. These folks are more than just a software company, they are manufacturing guru's. **What do you dislike about Rootstock Cloud ERP?** It's a data hog and Salesforce data is expensive. When we implemented Rootstock Financials were not offered so we're using Financial Force, I would like to be using Rootstock;'s Financials but don't feel like doing another implementation at this time. Financial Force's integration is fine, but it's an expensive package. **Recommendations to others considering Rootstock Cloud ERP:** If you're a vertically integrated discrete manufacturer this should be on your short list of products to compare. **What problems is Rootstock Cloud ERP solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are now creating work orders, PO's, inventory. These are things we did on paper and excel before Rootstock. Our customer services efforts are streamlined. It's fast and easy for sales and customer service to see inventory, open orders, enter orders, see order ship dates and shipment tracking, etc. Running month end financials now takes minutes instead of days. ### 15. There was very little implementation issues and any issues we did have were quickly resolved by Rootstock's support team. Their support team is absolutely wonderful. Everyone we have worked with has been great. When a custom built solution was not in our budget, they assisted us in a work around that would achieve the same outcome. As the Admin in my company, one of my responsibilities is to train any new hires on all of our systems. Rootstock has been one of the easiest to train our staff on. The fact that the Site Map is in order (top to bottom) for each objects process, really helps. **What do you dislike about Rootstock Cloud ERP?** The fact that any custom fields we need are only available on a Custom tab on each object. It would be great if we had more ability to place our custom fields where they would be more useful. **Recommendations to others considering Rootstock Cloud ERP:** Make sure your data is clean, otherwise it'll be a nightmare. Get as many Rootstock contacts as possible. One may not be available when you need assistance, but you'll have others to call on. Attend as many Rootstock events as possible. The amount of knowledge you can achieve is astounding. Don't be afraid to ask for help. The support team is amazing and very friendly. **What problems is Rootstock Cloud ERP solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our goal with Rootstock was to get away from having to count inventory at the beginning of each month. With the system, and the help of the support team, we were able to successfully get our perpetual inventory going. It took some time, but the outcome was well worth it. ### 16. We like how well the product integrates into the Force.com platform, which was an important consideration in selecting it in the first place. We like the fact that it is a cloud-based, web-based app. We like the degree to which we can customize the product, from views and reports, to custom fields, objects, workflows, etc. Very comprehensive and powerful system. **What do you dislike about Rootstock Cloud ERP?** The system documentation, while improving, is a bit lacking, which impacts user on-boarding efficiency and effectiveness, but also impacts how quickly experienced users can research questions or problems. Content and organization of the materials could be improved. The recent migration of the documentation resources to the community platform is helpful, and a step in the right direction. **What problems is Rootstock Cloud ERP solving and how is that benefiting you?** Rootstock has enabled our company to better manage our costs, our flow of work and information, and our ability to manage the increasing complexity of our operations, which our old system could not handle. Although it was built primarily as an MRP application, we have been able to tweak it with Rootstock to make it suitable for our job-shop environment. The project environment, once understood, is a powerful way to manage the business. We now have a streamlined process where we can convert a won Salesforce Opportunity to Sales Order and Work Order without double entry. Then we buy and issue material to the job, build/print the shop router, and track all labor/direct/indirect costs. **What do you dislike about Rootstock Cloud ERP?** Locked user interfaces: Rootstock developed their pages almost entirely in Visualforce. This makes for some neat functionality, but the downside within the managed package environment is that this reduces the end-user's ability to customize pages. There is a lot of "clutter" -- fields that don't pertain to our business -- and we are not able to remove or rearrange the coded Visualforce pages. There are some objects that can be overridden, but it is a large effort and often clunky (unexpected errors that need to be sorted out with Rootstock Support) implementing. Rootstock has put a lot more resources into customer satisfaction over the last few years. It is definitely helping. I give them credit for listening to customer needs and making positive changes. -PO Requisitions for service items is not currently available, despite being on the roadmap. No target date provided. -Their new app RootScan is designed to transact Rootstock on mobile. This comes at a hefty premium price. I do not think they should be charging a premium for RootScan. -Integration between Rootstock and FinancialForce could use improvement: COGS is tracked in Rootstock properly broken out as we like among Material, Labor, and Other Costs. However, Rootstock sends only one bundled COGS amount to FinancialForce which means our Financial statements cannot be broken out the way we are used to seeing it. UPDATE: Rootstock now has a great distribution feature that solved for this problem (which we paid for). Hardened objects is a real problem for salesforce customization. It limits our ability to do standard workflow automation, list view in-line edits, and much more. This is all to do with the complexity of Rootstock pages and their code. We could do more with Rootstock if all objects that our end-users use were hardened. **Recommendations to others considering Rootstock Cloud ERP:** Are you already a Salesforce customer? It's going to be a lot to take on if not. You might consider learning Salesforce first then making the leap to Rootstock. All information is highly visible at all levels - great depth of reporting and search functionality brings all information to a single screen. Software is also very customizable (using Salesforce side). Large variety of third party consultants, partners, add-ons, and other resources due to Salesforce's popularity. Great improvements in customer service in the last couple of years. **What do you dislike about Rootstock Cloud ERP?** Rootstock benefits from the Salesforce integration and platform, but Data costs on Salesforce are quite high for large enterprises. Coupled with features available on the salesforce platform -- e.g. Mobile, Communities, Reports and dashboards, Service Cloud, App Exchange, Einstein AI, Chatter makes for infinite flexibility and a forward-thinking ERP system. The company is constantly improving the software and listening to customer needs. **What do you dislike about Rootstock Cloud ERP?** We are a high-volume manufacturer with over 1200 work orders on the shop floor at any given time, 300 boxes shipped daily, 30,000 SKUs and occasionally there are issues with screens that are built for smaller volumes of data or bulk processes handled by APEX that run slightly slower than an on-premise solution. Some of the VisualForce pages/objects limit customization on page layouts and complex validation rules on objects within the managed package can cause issues with creating Workflow rules and expeditiously importing data through API connections. We see these as being reasonable tradeoffs for all the other benefits of moving to a completely cloud solution and the RS support team is generally open to helping improve in areas unique to our business. **Recommendations to others considering Rootstock Cloud ERP:** Identify a good implementation partner. We used Mountain Point out of North Carolina who understand the force.com platform as well as Rootstock / manufacturing. **What problems is Rootstock Cloud ERP solving and how is that benefiting you?** Faster/nimbler manufacturing processes. Improving throughput on the shop floor with greater visibility into bottlenecks and capacity constraints. Better management of stock inventory levels.
