# Do I have to have Salesforce to run Propel PLM?

No, the Propel app runs on the Salesforce platform, and you get that platform as part of buying Propel. But you don’t have to be running Salesforce CRM. However, we recommend you have CRM so you can see tie your customer, product and service information together.
