There really isn't anything I dislike when it comes to OnPay.

I do not have to go research to find employer taxes in every state that we have employees.

**What do you like best about OnPay?**

The software is intuitive. You are not having to think about how They think about things you're able to think about what makes common sense and figure it out yourself. If you can't, the customer service is amazing and will quickly figure it out and explain to you how to do it. It has been flawless.

**What do you dislike about OnPay?**

Where are used to dread payroll because it always took me such a long time I never finish in about 15 minutes and have no issues. If I do, I can either figure it out myself or call client service, and they will help me figure it out.  again it is flawless.

**What problems is OnPay solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In my previous two payroll companies I had nothing but problems. Employees couldn't access their profile.  information was wrong. When we transitioned, they forgot to send some information so I had to manually transmit it. If it was a problem, I was told that's not how "we think" and I had to go through long processes to get things fixed, all of that has disappeared.  There were times I couldn't get anyone on customer service. I STAYED WITH BOTH MY BIG COMPANIES FOR LESS THAN SIX MONTHS BECAUSE THE SERVICE WAS SO ATROCIOUS.

**What do you like best about OnPay?**

I especially like that Onpay takes care of the uploading of prior data.  That can be very messy when clients try to do it.  Customer service is always very helpful as well.  The program itself is very easy to use and accurate.  Also I love that it files the taxes and forms automatically.  This software is perfect for one to 20-ish employees, which is my target market.  I also love that the pricing is very straightforward. No "hidden costs" that crop up later!!  That is such a huge relief from prior systems I have used.

**What do you dislike about OnPay?**

I really would like the ability to put a couple of clients on "autopay" that get the same amount each period.  I would really like the main dashboard improved as well.  It is not easy to tell who has not run payroll yet.  It would be much easier to have everyone on one screen and then a column that shows "current week processed" with a check mark or something similar.

**What problems is OnPay solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I needed an easy-to-use, low cost payroll option for my small employers.  I like that they can process everything on their own instead of my having to take the time.

We have used OnPay for about 3 months now, and they were extremely helpful during the set-up process.  It is very easy to use, and when I have questions, the support staff does a phenomenal job in getting the issue(s) resolved fast and professionally.  Great application for a start-up company and more mature organizations!

If you do not have the site earmarked, it can be cumbersome to access, but no others were observed.

**What do you like best about OnPay?**

All the work involved in running payroll and reporting to the state is done for a reasonable price, dependably, and without a lot of confusion or extra forms. Equally as helpful are the reports I can get any time I need to, for any info I need to have. These are simple to create and easy to understand. I love OnPay.

**What do you dislike about OnPay?**

The only time I have a problem with OnPay is when I create one for myself by getting busy and forgetting (in spite of the helpful email reminder) to do the pay run on the right day. I finally added it to my calendar which mostly solved the problem.

**What problems is OnPay solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Payroll was always time consuming, expensive, and carried the liability of making a mistake and getting nasty letters from the state. Using OnPay, it takes almost no time, the cost is reasonable, and OnPay deals with the state. I love it. For a small business person who wears a lot of different hats, taking this onerous piece off the table is a real gain.

i am a very busy person but with Onpay  making the payroll is super fast and easy! And if you have questions , customer reps are awesome!
It is one of the cheapest software too.

nothing dislike me of this software,Pretty good software.

I am a very busy person and with Onpay I save a lot of time doing the payroll. And save money because i don't need to hire somebody else to do the job. The business performance increase do to a better productivity, and zero compliance mistakes

**What do you like best about OnPay?**

The team was very involved in the implementation process. They requested information and got it set up completely without any additional implementation fees.  We attempted to implement QBO payroll, but they were not responding or adding our data to Quickbooks, so at the last minute we switched to Onpay and were still able to meet our deadline because of the quick turn around time.

**What do you dislike about OnPay?**

There was some confusion at one point we got a request for more information. We added that info to Onpay directly, but they went about 5 days without following up. When we followed up we realized that we should have let them know we updated the info they requested because they thought they were waiting on us.

**What problems is OnPay solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy payroll processing, reduces staff time to file reports and process manually.  Implementing PTO requests online instead of via a google form will also help us to track our PTO and employee data more easily.

**What do you like best about OnPay?**

The best part of OnPay is the onboarding experience. When starting a new company file they will import the pay history for the year for each employee, saving you hours of manual importing. Their support team is also incredible at helping resolve any issues that pop up with tax filings, reports, etc.

**What do you dislike about OnPay?**

A bit pricier than most other payroll softwares, but it has been well worth it for our business.

**What problems is OnPay solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They handle all tax notices that our clients receive. Normally with other payroll software, there was a lot of hunting for information that I would have to do, but with OnPay I can just send them the file and they look into it for me. This saves me a lot of time and frustration.

**What do you like best about OnPay?**

We switched from square to OnPay because one of my employees wanted to be paid every two weeks and I need to be paid monthly. They do support that, so that was a plus.

**What do you dislike about OnPay?**

OnPay does NOT have automated payroll! (Contrary to what some online reviews say) This means you need to remember to login and pay your employees (every two weeks in my case), and these dates vary due to weekends and holidays, so it's not like you can just put a reminder in your calendar to login every 2 weeks. It's a total pain in the you know what. And, to make matters worse, they have no text reminders and there is no way to export your pay date calendar. The ONLY alerts they provide are emails in advance of your pay dates, and if you're anything like me, your inbox is a total mess and not something you can rely on for urgent matters on a regular basis. When I chatted with onpay they said they had no feature tracking system and that their devs would "hopefully" add something. I asked for confirmation that they could do a calendar export at minimum because that is a very easy dev lift (maybe 1 hour of developer time or less) and they simply said "no" ... Honestly, decided to go back to Square in that instant. I would not recommend onpay. Stay away. Not helpful to the needs of customers.

They are helping companies to run payroll. At least that's all we needed in our case. But, overall they did not help us to solve our problems so we're moving away.

Couldn't believe how easy the sign on process was. Five months prior we had changed to another service and getting started was a nightmare. When we switched to OnPay they answered every question we had and then they totally handled the conversion. All we were left to do was enter the direct deposit account numbers. Payroll processed seamlessly.

No dislikes at this point. Very satisfied.

This app is like an inexpensive HRIS! It has made my life extremely easy. It integrates with QuickBooks, and my timekeeping app Deputy. I can't recommend this enough!

The only thing I wish it had was a little easier way to have monthly commission check runs. it still works for that, just want it easier.

I am delighted at the care and grace extended by the OnPay team toward our church staff.  We are not experts in payroll and are very happy with our customer service experience, knowing that OnPay will do what's needed to make us successful!

There is nothing I can think of that would make me criticize OnPay.

The team repaired problems that they did not create.  Every mishap we encountered was of our own doing and the OnPay team handled the errors graciously.

I can run payroll in less than five minutes! It's very easy and I have confidence that all proper filings will be made on time. It's also the most affordable service I found anywhere, including locally.

**What do you dislike about OnPay?**

There seems to be a bit of work on the setup, especially giving access to different tax accounts felt tedious and was uncomfortable giving up account info to a third party but I suppose that's just normal for a small business to transition to outside help.

**What problems is OnPay solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Filing and paying payrol taxes on time as well as quarterly federal filings. I no longer need to worry if I'm filling out forms correctly or submitting the proper amounts as deposits.

The reports are easy to read.
The application is easy to use.

No downsides. The only thing I would "recommend" is to work on the design of the "check payment vouchers".
Graphically they are poorly designed. This is an advertising tool. Personally, I don't use it. I have to modify the payroll register to look like a pay voucher.

Primarily, payroll tax filing.

They have excellent support staff that is always friendly, helpful, and quick to respond.  Every time I have had a question, they have been able to help me figure it out!

**What do you dislike about OnPay?**

The integration to Quickbooks took longer than I expected; however, that was more on the Quickbooks side than it was with OnPay.  I don't see how they could have made it better, as their instructions were clear, and I was able to follow them to get the integration to work well.

They are helping me take care of my business needs for payroll and tax filing.  Having never done payroll before, the task was daunting.  With OnPay, they provide me excellent service and peace of mind.

I appreciate that I can enter summary of hours (tracking wage hours elsewhere), and I have flexibility for handling complex pay situations.

**What do you dislike about OnPay?**

As a non-HR person I did need some time to understand all of the features - but time well-worth the investment.

**What problems is OnPay solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our lead pastor has part-time salary, housing allowance requiring different treatments; one wage-earner has two different jobs at different rates.
Not used yet is a process to create an employee handbook.

The most helpful part of on pay is the ease of use. From never using a payroll system to being up and running within 2 weeks with no issues. Amazing. You can never say enough about the support and the people helping with onboarding.

Not much to say. I have had no issues.everything is working perfectly have had no issue. How could this be better? Not sure it could be. I don't think I need to see improvements.

Providing payroll services and getting our team off freelancers into full time employment. Yes we have become more productive. Our business performance has increased.

The on-boarding was smooth, and OnPay's tax filing was simple to set up too.

**What do you dislike about OnPay?**

No quarterly payroll schedule was available, so this type of secondary payroll can't be scheduled ahead.

**What problems is OnPay solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Quickbooks Payroll had become unaffordable.  OnPay offers tax filing, and affordable and flexible direct deposit for staff; it's a user-friendly product with features we did not have with Quickbooks Payroll...but at a lower cost.  We also took advantage of the "free first month" offer.

Onboarding our new employee was made very simple.  Our specialist was very helpful and patient with me for our first payroll run.  Pricing was easy and fair.  They made a daunting task simple.

I highly recommend OnPay because the portal is very user-friendly, from setting up the account to updating information to running payroll.  The support staff is very knowledgeable, quick to respond, and professional.

**What do you dislike about OnPay?**

The only issue I've experienced with OnPay was in getting our account verified, it just took a day or two longer than I anticipated. Once the issue was resolved, it's been smooth sailing.

OnPay is a very streamlined payroll system that takes care of everything for you and keeps you well-informed about all activities such as payroll tax processing and payments.

Their staff got payroll history and employees entered into the system very quickly and were very easy to contact if I had questions. Also, the support agricultural employers by filing 943's.

The only downside I've seen is that they do not have an auto pay function available for salaried employees.

**What do you like best about OnPay?**

I am a small business owner. Once I got the hang of using the OnPay user panel, I found OnPay easy and very efficient in processing my payroll. I can easily change pay rates and hours and adjust tax rates. The payroll approval process is easy and efficient. OnPay notifies me consistently about special holidays that could influence payroll processing time and delivery of checks. OnPay has submitted quarterly payroll taxes on time and provided me with complete records. When I have had questions, the OnPay staff have answered them to my satisfaction. When I investigated different payroll processing options, OnPay was the most affordable. I was skeptical about the price and if OnPay could deliver services on par with other, more expensive providers. After two years of using OmPay, I have not been disappointed. I strongly recommend any small business owner to consider OnPay.

**What do you dislike about OnPay?**

Getting familiar with the OnPay system was a little challenging, but help from OnPay staff rectified this. After two years of using OnPay, I have no complaints.

OnPay is solving my payroll processing, and quarterly payroll tax payment needs saving me time and effort allowing me to be more productive and devote more time to my core business.

The assistance, when needed is immediate. But it's so easy to use, you forget how quickly they can resolve an issue.

Nothing - yet! There hasn't been anything that we need that isn't provided.

The pricing is the most obvious benefit. When we switched over - there were PPP and ERC difficulties from our previous service. OnPay was persistent and dedicated to working out our issues with the IRS. They really did all the work for us.

They messed up my tax filings and ignored my attempts to get them to fix it.  The unresponsive tax department is hidden behind their tier 1 phone reps.
Confusing, thin and badly implemented HR documents features.
Their data upload from our prior company did not work.
The interface is slow, reports are hard to customize.
The setup of departments, job types, and pay types is inflexible and only suited to the simplest of companies.  
You will outgrow Onpay very quickly.

**What problems is OnPay solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The sole benefit to me is the integration between WhenIWork schedule/timeclock software, payroll, and Quickbooks.  But I still need to do a lot of manual fixing and calculatiosn becasue OnPay is so inflexible with their database.

I like how easy it was to get started, without being required to work through a salesperson. I had a lot of help when I needed it moving everything over and creating my account.

Customer service was excellent during onboarding. I was very excited to work with OnPay. That quickly changed. Customer service since signup has been incredibly disappointing.

The web interface is a little cumbersome but fairly straightforward once you've gotten the hang of it.

Friendly, competent, knowledgeable staff, great customer service, but fees are going up! 

The HR functions are amazing and we are creating a new and updated Employee Handbook via Mineral which integrates with OnPay and includes all the new COVID requirements.

**What do you dislike about OnPay?**

How the workflow is organized is not intuitive and it is very easy to make multiple errors when adding new employees. 

Ex: you have to add Sick & Vacation policies twice for each employee in separate places for their time to accrue properly. New employees miss completing onboarding after they sign an offer letter. Not one, not two or three, but every new employee has missed this prompt.

**Recommendations to others considering OnPay:**

This is definitely worth a look, especially for small companies looking for affordable yet complete solutions!

**What problems is OnPay solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Cost is now equal to our previous payroll provider which is not great after changing only 1 year ago. However, they do seem to make fewer errors.

**What do you like best about OnPay?**

Setup was straight-forward and running payroll is a snap.  The basics are all saved and unless there are changes, it's click, click, done.  I previously owned a business for 15 years and payroll was always a headache.  I wish I would have discovered OnPay sooner.  For the occasional task that takes more than the basics, there are numerous help-articles and links to walk you through the hard stuff (like setting up your unemployment account with the state.  Ugh.  Thanks for the hand-holding, OnPay!)

**What do you dislike about OnPay?**

There are a few things that cannot be done directly from the website without engaging a customer service person.  For example, at one point I wanted to change the bank from which my employees and taxes were paid... I had to call their customer support person who emailed me a link and I completed the change online, but having to call first was inconvenient.  I realize it's probably for security purposes, which I appreciate, but almost every other provider I deal with for banking type things lets me change without a phone call.  My other complaint is that for salaried employes, you *should* be able to set up automatic runs, but that isn't an option with OnPay.

**Recommendations to others considering OnPay:**

OnPay is quick, well laid out, and easy to use, but keep looking if you need fully automated runs.

**What problems is OnPay solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My first business was in another state and I was only familiar with that state's processes.  OnPay took the guesswork out of the process in other states and simplified employee management, freeing me to focus on growing the business and not navigating Sec-State websites looking for instructions.  I have not yet tried using OnPay for some of their additional functions (e.g. HR) but that's in the future plan.

It is very simple and intuitive to use.  and, if you have any questions, support is quick and very helpful.

Some detailed integrations to Xero are not easy to do, such as, splitting an employee's pay, taxes, and worker's comp codes to different GL codes.

They take care of ALL taxes for me.  I don't have to worry about them.  OnPay will let me no if there are tax issues.

**What do you like best about OnPay?**

We started out using Square Payroll, which was a nightmare wrapped in a horror show for the whole 2 months we used it.  OnPay imported all our payroll runs, employees, etc.  They scheduled a call to walk us through the software the next day.  Every time I have a question, there's someone available - either via chat, email, phone, or video call.  The entire support staff is extremely knowledgeable but when I have a question they don't immediately have an answer to, they say that & then get back to me.  I can't ask for more!  Their reporting features are sublime.  Their included HR functionality is fantastic.  Everything is customizable in a variety of ways.  They even have integration with QuickBooks Desktop via IIF files.  After every payroll run, I download the IIF and everything is automagically completed for me.  After 2 months with the hellscape that was Square Payroll with its shoddy reporting, wonky backend, incompetent support, etc, etc, OnPay is like a dream come true.  I will *always* recommend OnPay wholeheartedly - and I'm a bookkeeper who's handled payroll for several companies using many services.  OnPay is hands-down my favorite!

**What do you dislike about OnPay?**

This is hard since there isn't much I dislike.  The only thing that comes to mind is that it would be nice to void just one employee's check after a payroll run.  I accidentally entered hours wrong on one employee out of 40+ (the employee replied to my text just after the deadline with a correction).  I had to void the whole run to fix it.  Voiding a run means I have to re-enter EVERY employee's hours over again - basically starting the run from scratch.

**Recommendations to others considering OnPay:**

No matter what industry you're in, OnPay is a great solution.  I work on a family farm & they handle all the farm-specific filings, unlike most payroll companies.  I've worked for a psychology practice that used OnPay and it saved them huge amounts of time & headaches.  The integration with QuickBooks Desktop works flawlessly after the initial setup.  Most companies only support QuickBooks Online these days this was important as we use Desktop.

**What problems is OnPay solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I work for a small family farm that was doing payroll by hand for the last 60 years.  Entering all those paychecks & payroll taxes was a nightmare.  One of the owners did the payroll so I had to just trust he was doing it correctly.  There was no transparency in the process and they were given handwritten checks twice a month.  Paycheck stubs were just plain text emails.  Now everyone has direct deposit two days after the run, as the bookkeeper I have full faith that all the taxes are being withheld & paid correctly, I download a simple IIF file that automatically creates all the necessary QuickBooks Desktop entries in minutes.  Employees get real paycheck stubs & can change their withholdings anytime they want.  We've benefited in every way possible with the addition of OnPay (& saved a fortune by not writing all those stupid paper checks lol).

I've had experience with other platforms like Gusto which had terrible service and didn't address payroll issues.  OnPay was very quick and responsive with their support when I called.  It's very reasonable and even comes with a 3rd party HR service.

Not sure yet as I've had much better experiences when compared to others.

Onboarding a new client is someone clunky and requires lots of emails to get fully setup and sometimes steps for state level taxes get missed creating issues.

I'm able to offer my bookkeeping clients a low-cost full-service payroll solution where I don't have to stress about deadlines.
