Flexibility, No agents, Reporting and SaaS solution. I like the straightforward pricing model. Ease of use and deployment. The role based permissions is also very beneficial to our organization. Putting devices in SDT mode allows us to monitor SLAs and not affect statistics due to planned changes within the environment. I am happy LogicMonitor has recently added LM Logs to capture and analysis log files. This was a weakness in the product that has been fixed with the addition of this tool. The LM Config is a very useful feature to backup, store and identify changes to networking devices. The ease to restore these files is fantastic. I also like the side by side comparison of the networking configurations. It allows you to easily spot the changes and make the appropriate fixes quickly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Collectors should handle more devices per collector. Additional reporting would be beneficial. Cloud monitoring could be more robust. LogicMonitor has made great strides in this department however there is more to develop in comparison to some of its competitors. Application monitoring can be enhanced, but in all fairness it's not an Application Performance Monitoring tool. As a service provider, i don't like that we can't tie in multiple SSO / SIML / AD architectures for simple login into the LogicMonitor portal for our customers. This would be a welcome enhancement. LogicMonitor's Documentation and support a top-tier. We had occasion to use them to solve some edge-case situations, and they were willing to understand what we wanted to do and work through their back-end channels to get answers that the documentation couldn't provide. The API is complete, we could not find anything we needed to do but could not.
Detailed performance data was available in reasonable accuracy ( I don't recall exactly what it was, but we found it adequate). It was easy and impressively fast to drill into any of the data available.
Interaction with the graphs, grouped by Dashboards, is highly customizable. There is enough automation to make the task tolerable and produce nice results.
The datapoint collection is super flexible and I especially appreciated the ability to write scripts to collect data. It can take a little manipulation to get into the format LM wants, but there are good examples and goo documentation to guide you through the process. We were able to track and create alerts that fired when there were problems (very few false-positives); I think that's a testimony to the flexibility. I was able to write, from scratch, accurate kafka monitoring by integrating a metrics collection tool for kafka called burrow with LogicMonitor with a high degree of success in detecting issues early (such as producer/consumer deviations).
It integrates well with services such as PageDuty, which we used for some aspects of our product. Other services used the adequate internal alerting system.
Overall, the product was found to be accessible by Operations and Engineering alike; and while every tool that pages someone at 3am gets cast a little shade, LogicMonitor was a great solution for us. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The interface can be slow and they will only keep a years worth of performance data. Setting up new datapoints was tedious. For example, to track the disk space utilization across a 100+ node Hadoop cluster, it was necessary to create a datapoint for each disk and sum that data together in the graph; which meant there was a manual process of creating a data point for each node in the cluster in the graph. Not ideal. The graph displays can be a little hard to use when there are lots of datapoints on them, it's not as easy it could be to filter out a single line.
Graphs have odd and odd interface for highlighting or deselecting lines. The scale of the graphs was not always appropriate for the given dynamic modifications (for example, deselecting all the datapoints over 90%, leaving just the datapoints under 10% would still keep the graph Y-axis scale at 0 to 100 instead of 0-10) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The automation of simple tasks such as creating onboarding scripts to ensure devices being added are done in a standardized method. LM automatically detects what specifically needs to be monitored for each device. If you choose that its not necessary or monitoring needs to be adjusted, the UI is simple enough to tweak or turn off completely. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The UI can be challenging at times to navigate. There is a learning curve to the platform. I've had issues with the alerts page, trying to view alerts on a smaller screen such as a laptop can be challenging. The provided view has limitations to it. I believe this is being fixed in future releases. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Built in RDP, Alerting, Downtime, SSH, HTTPs, Web, Azure, the only thing Logic Monitor doesnt do is make me a coffee. From setting up Root Cause Analysis to help cut down on noise/tickets when devices go down, to LM Logs, Repository. Logic Monitor does it all. It knows most devices, and those it does not, well you just have to open a ticket, or send an email and ask them to look into adding it. Turn around is not that long. Their help desk is very knowledgeable and their community forums are a must. LM has done it right from Day 1 and continue to do it right to this very day. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
1 thing and its very minute. The built in Apache Web timeout timer of 60 minutes. "We need more time Captain". There are some things you want to change, and all you have to do is ask them to and if they deem it a necessity, well your change will happen. They are the number one in my book when it comes to Alerting. Blows all others away. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Bulletproof monitoring when implemented properly. Always accurate and timely. Making changes to the out of the box settings is easy enough and can be rolled out how you like in terms of thresholds, alerts, and communications. Very broad native monitoring vendor support. Others can be implements without much fuss. Support is very helpful and prompt. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Reporting is somewhat difficult to work with to get what you need. Most scripting options requires learning Groovy(might be a pro for some). Web UI can sometimes require refreshing for changes to show up which can be annoying. Somewhat expensive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Been using LogicMonitor for a couple of years and have had a favorable opinion of the product. Have recommended LogicMonitor to many different folks over the years. I believe LogicMonitor to be our strongest tool we use (and we have many being a MSP).
Many out of the box datasources work well if you're configured for SNMP. There's also: Site Monitors (internal and external), extensive script customization. chat support is quick and supportive (no need to fill out super long emails/forms to get support). Also "LM Logs" is a nice new feature. Additionally the development of LogicMonitor is continuous. Once you have LogicMonitor configured you wont have to do much for your organization. At most you might need to run through your change control to determine if you want to import the updated datasources; that's about the only manual intervention the product needs.
Overall LogicMonitor is a solid product that is worth checking out even if you are happy with your current monitoring tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
GUI updates are inconsistent and sometimes a step backwards, documentation could be a little more friendly to a beginner. The voice robot that calls during alerts could benefit from sounding better. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Logic Monitor is quick and easy to set up. The collector agent is fairly light and doesn't take up many resources. Logic Monitor provides very useful monitoring with lots of detail that is archived. Looking up past data is also very easy to do, you just have to change the date range. There are a ton of additional features and configuration potential, we've probably just barely scratched the surface of Logic Monitor's full potential! A huge plus for us has been the support has always been great when I reach out for assistance and is very quick. The support techs are very knowledgeable and escalation is quick when needed. The site is always quick and responsive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Some network devices do not have full data supported yet so you might get limited data and reporting, but new datasources are being added all the time. You can also submit requests for devices to be added, which I have done a few times and actually got the devices added.
There is a lot to Logic Monitor so there is a bit of a time investment if you want to get the most out of it. But again, their support is great and can help you get things up and running quick if needed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The interface is intuitive and well organized. The structure of the tools is logical and easy to navigate. This meets all of my previously known monitoring and alerting needs and has turned me on to new features that I wouldn't have though of previously. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It needs more tools to be added to address all of my monitoring & alerting needs. From discussions with our team at LM some of these tools are being developed now though. Their development cycle seems to be quick and responsive which is promising for the future. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The dashboard is very clear and give you a lot of info of whats happening within your network. Uptimes are valuable info when users say they were not able to work due to downtimes. LogicMonitor gives me enough info to challange those claims. Additionaly The alets give me enough information to determine the impact of the issue before calls start rolling in. This way I can prioritize depending on how critical it is to the company. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
A remote access tool would be a show stopper from troubleshooting. If we had the abilityt to remote to servers switches and roouters from this tool it would definetly be the go to tool instead of using aditional tools for this. Sometimes I find it hard to sort out through all the information. Not sure if I really need to know how the fans are in a router or the temperture ofthe equipment. If there was a way of setting a default to simple networking trouble shooting. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Monitoring customization is fairly easy to configure and the management interface is user friendly. LogicMonitor is a great tool for monitoring and performance reporting for medium size, multi-platform, IT environments with a simple setup and quick out of the box configure time. In large environments the level of tuning required to keep the false positives at bay can be time consuming. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The level of customization needed for multi-platform environments can be time consuming for very large environments. The high number of modules that can be imported can quickly make configuration very cumbersome. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
LogicMonitor is my first in-depth experience with a third party systems-monitoring tool and the while the setup takes a little to get used to, once you've entered several systems, the process becomes simple. The best thing about LM is that we can monitor almost any device/stat within our system from servers, switches and routers to websites. Being able to see everything from the view of the dashboard has made for a simple workflow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Because there are so many things to monitor, it can take a bit to "master" setup and tuning to your specific needs.
Have difficulty excluding certain Windows events from monitoring on Windows server environments.
As with most things in a business setting, cost is always one of the first things to be weighed against a tool's features and as it goes with most enterprise solutions, the cost of subscription continues to rise. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I love having multiple collectors across the country monitoring devices close to it. Our prior platform was a single server in our datacenter. We get more accurate/faster alerts with this model. Also being cloud based and being able to login from anywhere is very helpful. I don't have to get my laptop out and vpn in just to see the dashboard. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The root cause analysis feature needs more work to be useful. I often get many email alerts about a site being down when only an alert the mpls router is unreachable will do. Being this is a new feature i assume it will get better with time and updates. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Highly advanced monitoring abilities in terms of what data it can retrieve and the range of different device types.
Monitors a wide range of devices including switches, routers, SAN's, NAS's, UPS's, hypervisors, and many more.
Customer support is good. Chat support response is immediate or usually less than 5 minutes, and the engineers are knowledgeable about the product.
Granular user permissions for technicians. Reporting capabilities and dashboards are very robust. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
High learning curve. Somewhat expensive. Out-of the box alerting will create a lot of tickets unless a lot of time is spent tweaking. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We love the Dashboards and the integrations! Logic Monitor allows us to monitor a wide range of equipment all from the single platform, it allows us to focus on the important alerts and simply review the alerts that are mostly noise. We also love how it integrates with our ticketing system and allows for two way communication between the two systems. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We would really love the see a Logic Monitor integration with Connectwise Configurations or CMDB. We would also love the see an integration with both BrightGauge and IT Glue. We are an MSP and those are tools that we use every hour of every day. Honestly the price is a little steep for network monitoring but when you compare what you to what Auvik charges it makes sense. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
LogicMonitor is agentless which has been an improved experience compared to managing agents. The DataSource discovery and association of the Datapoints and all of the different types of 'data' is the magical part saving us hours of time configuring a new server or device to be monitored. Acknowledging alerts through the mobile app is full-featured. We are able to see charts/graphs of the data as well as our dashboards. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
After-hours alert management and notification to cell phones is not a replacement at this time for PagerDuty or Opsgenie. However, the integrations with 3rd party products exist and seem to meet our initial needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We love the fact that the monitoring for our environment is condensed down to one tool. One pane of glass is helpful. The dashboard features have been instrumental in helping our management team understand what is happening on our networks. LogicMonitor's support is very helpful, the support features being built right into the user interface is super helpful. Simplicity in adding many device is great. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
LogicMonitor can be a bit tricky bringing in devices that have not been added to their monitoring tools already. Some of the dashboard creation takes extensive knowledge in many areas. However, their support is great and is always willing to help. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like the flexibility of being able to code/write data sources to monitor what is important to me and my business as opposed to being limited to an "out of the box" functionality. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I would much prefer to have the billing system updated so that customers can spend what they consume in terms of resource counts in the portal. As an MSP, we operate with a utility model....if you let 5 people go one month, you aren't paying for them next month. the billing model is a bit antiquated in my view as nobody wants to pay for anything (software licenses included) that they aren't using. That said, the LM team has worked with me to implement a manual process to gets us close to the promised land. As the title notes: Solid partner! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Very easy to setup widgets and dashboards. Fairly user friendly to a novice that doesnt know what they are doing. Can easily setup ping tools, perfmon metrics or the like. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
A little hard to get going if you don't run a traditional domain. The support can walk the end user through getting it going but it isn't an easy process. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like how flexible it is. We have a lot of items we want monitored that don't necessarily come out of the box. We are able to use our own scripts to gather the relevant information we need and present it on a dashboard that will make a difference in how we service our clients. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It is a bit frustrating that the tool can only return integers, unless you want to create an instance for any strings. This makes getting things like versions difficult. For example, if the version you are looking for has more than one decimal point, that is considered a string. We found a way around it, but not ideal. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
