"Integrated solution with promise"

What do you like best?

Hard not to love that it's integrated into Salesforce very natively. Some of the new features they are building are looking very promising - like resource management, the gantt chart, etc. Expenses is pretty easy inside FF, and timecards aren't bad either.

What do you dislike?

It struggles to keep up with the project management features in comparison to other enterprise PPM type solutions. A lack of portfolio management/cross project viewing, etc and task management/project building is still not easy to do.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Be very thorough in defining your needs from an executive/reporting standpoint, down to the user input level. If you can't get users to input, you won't have good data and it will fail. Be sure you know what you are getting and that it meets your needs.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Having a smoothly integrated sales to PS solution in the same system, has made the process of hand-off smoother and more accurrate. We have accurate timecards and financials on projects.

"Fully featured and flexible for many uses"

What do you like best?

I like that this can be configured to support nearly any kind of business, for any need. It is relevant for small companies as well as large. There are not many things that we have tried to do that we could not, and we have really pushed those limits!

What do you dislike?

Sometimes the flexibility makes it difficult to determine the "best practice" or right path for a certain business. And then there are areas that really aren't flexible enough, like some of the visual force pages.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

I highly recommend FF PSA. It really can do pretty much anything you need.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

More and more frequently, we find that PSA is being used as the engine and we are able to build layers on top of that engine to suit the various types of businesses that want to use it. It has certainly become more flexible over time, and that is a good direction. Most of our clients have realized shorter turnaround times for information related to project delivery and financial data related to their delivery.

"PSA, All You Ever Need"

What do you like best?

I find it easy to use with an engaging user interface.

Regular updates to improve its performance and security.

Outstanding features like managing and tracking expenses which really makes it easier for our company to handle such.

Highly enhanced makes it easier to do financial reports saving more time to handle other things at the office.

What do you dislike?

At first it seems hard to find your way in familiarizing with the system but once you are used it works seamlessly.

It can be a bit expensive but worth it considering the services it provides.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

This platform will boost performance at work, provide accurate analysis that will enhance decision making as well as guide on financial management at work. Would recommend its implementation.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Apart from financial management you can as well use it as a human resource platform to handle employee management. It is really super fast in handling tasks.

"PSA V16.5 Preview"

What do you like best?

The PSA has always been a robust and versatile for use across organizations for many functionalities, and it just keeps getting better!!

The functionality and features can be customized based on the scenario and this helps a lot, as many attributes / parameters keep changing and different portfolios within the organization requires to operate differently and thereby requiring special customization, which allows ease of project management and provides a level of control in all the chaos..

What do you dislike?

It keeps getting updated and it's a special chore trying to keep up with all the module changes (especially minor ones) and the document mentioning the updates is more like a commentary than a job aid, if this was support by the pictorial representation and all the changes and updates are identified clearly and highlighted and aided with screen shots, then it would be much easier to understand the differences.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

A very Powerful and Robust tool and surefire solution to many of your problems.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

A lot of manual tracking, emailing and excel computations are being replaced by Financial Force Professional Services Automation and the Apps that come with using it.

using FF allows for running multiple applications at the same location, (thereby proving Financial force's robustness), allowing the users to use a varied set of tools to run at the same place. This turnkey feature not only helps in terms of compatibility, but also ensures comfortability in terms of having all the apps needed in one place.

"Review from a developer"

What do you like best?

FinancialForce PSA provided a bunch of useful features for professional service company. The Timecard system suite our business mode perfectly. It can also integrating with other 3rd services like expensify to make it even more powerful. FF have a gorgeous support team can respond your requests in several hours.

What do you dislike?

With the limit of salesforce, the performance of FinancialForce PSA is not very good, especially for the billing function.

Also, as a developer , the document of FF PSA is really simple. You have to try a lot of times to figure out how the API works.

FF PSA can not support mobile devices very well, though mobile phones is the most popular devices all over the world.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Salesforce is the most popular popular cloud platform for all kinds of companies, but it lack some key features needed by professional service company. Without FF PSA, you must do a lot of development to fulfill the requirements of your company. FF PSA can make your salesforce usable for PS company with only some configurations, this will save a lot of money for small companies.

"FinancialForce PSA Review"

What do you like best?

The fact that FinancialForce PSA is on the Force.com platform makes it very easy to streamline sales nad professional services processes, in addition to reporting on key professional services metrics like utilization, customer profitability, etc..

What do you dislike?

The underlying object model for FinancialForce PSA takes some getting used to. There are a ton of utility / system objects that PSA needs in order to produce certain data sets (i.e. Est. vs. Actuals, Missing Timecards, etc.), so it can be quite a learning curve to implement the system for the untrained / initiated.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

During the implementation do not neglect to get adequate training on how the underlying data sets are generated. Be completely familiar with the process of adding PSA Resources, adding new project templates, generating utilization figures, etc..

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We're currently using FinancialForce PSA to track the successful completion of professional service offerings and implementations. We have recognized benefits in streamlined reported, ease of administration, integration with sales processes, in addition to faster resource staffing.

"FinancialForce user for three years"

What do you like best?

FinancialForce PSA is highly configurable allowing us to add fields and workflows tailored to our specific business needs without having to engage a solution provider. FF manages all aspects of our PSA business - customer/internal projects, budgets, scope and resources and all related data is easily tracked for reporting purposes. Upgrades have been painless and cost effective. The FinancialForce tech support team are amazing and quick to respond.

What do you dislike?

Reporting is restricted to the native salesforce tool which is somewhat limited. It would be preferable to be able to join any number of objects in a single report. The mobile time entry solution could use some improvement. The resource planner needs enhanced color-coding.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

FinancialForce is easily configurable to meet almost any need as it relates to tracking projects, financials, scheduling and resources. It is incredibly user-friendly and has great integration to Salesforce (out-of-the-box). FinancialForce's support team is fantastic! They have made it possible for us to independently configure the system to meet our ongoing needs.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have successfully automated several processes and are able to configure the system to meet our needs "on-the-fly". We have developed workflows that have reduced the time to complete many processes such as revenue and costs recognition, on-boarding resources, project set-up and project close. We have also developed alerts and triggers that makes it possible for us to make proactive decisions on endless data points.

"Increased automation and availability of management information through Financial Force PSA"

What do you like best?

One of the great benefits of Financial Force PSA is the automation and availability of information provided by FinancialForce PSA. We can quickly access to relevant project budget information with the click of button. Easy access to consultants utilization through flexible custom reporting which the end user can easily build. Dashboard functionality is a great tool to get KPIs that gives us a quick snapshot of projects and resources. Resource Planning is a great tool that helps us allocate resources more efficiently. We have a large number of custom reports created that a few resources created. Missing timecards reminders and reports are a great tool for the managers. PSA is very customizable which allowed us to create some customizations to adapt FinancialForce PSA to our processes and needs. We created a few custom reports to allow us to improve the automation with our accounting system NetSuite. Financial Force PSA allowed us to reduce the use of spreadsheets to the minimum which enabled us to be able to share information quickly with other departments and clients. We are now incorporating other teams into Financial Force PSA which allows us to increase information sharing across departments.

What do you dislike?

Inability to delegate other resources to approve timecards while a resource is on PTO. If this happens during month end then an Admin will have to manually approve each timecard individually.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

I will definitely go with Financial Force PSA and make sure that you involve your key PS resources during the deployment.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Resource planning, time tracking, billing, budget management and resource utilization

"Extremely powerful tool"

What do you like best?

One of the greatest benefits for our company is that all of our professional services data lives in salesforce so that it can be easily reported on in conjunction with many other attached objects.

What do you dislike?

There is a lot of complexity with PSA because it is so fully featured. Our use of the tool doesn't touch on many things outside of the core areas, and it can be a little daunting to bring on new team members because of this.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Be prepared to examine your own internal business processes to make sure they align with best practices rather than modifying PSA to custom solve your unique use case where possible. You might find our years down the road that you'd wish you had done it differently if you don't.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

One of the things we love most about PSA is the insight it gives us into utilization. In conjunction with pipeline reporting, we've been able to see staffing shortfalls proactively and hire or reorganize to meet our needs.

"Powerful tool to capture data"

What do you like best?

The look and feel; we use Salesforce for our CRM, so it's a seamless transition into FF PSA. It is handy for our new users to see the same type of data from one system to the other, especially since they are integrated. The lay-outs are easily customizable to at a global level, everyone sees the data the same way, in a logical sequence.

What do you dislike?

I would like to be able to export views to Excel, instead of having to run reports. Totals on those Views would be handy as well. We have a lot of Views set-up for Project Managers and Billing Administrators, and more on-screen data would give us quicker access to data, without having to run Reports and export to Excel and total.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Get a full understanding of how the software works in its basic out-of-the-box functionality. Then, decide which of your current processes you cannot fit into PSA and prioritize. The less customizing, I believe the better success you will have. We have made a lot of changes, and some items we are still working through to get complete and accurate.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Tracking T&E including Billing Milestones. It's fairly easy to pinpoint visually when something is missing or recording incorrectly. Tracking Planned Hours versus Billable Submitted Hours against a Milestone, for instance, is a key metric for billing. This level of tracking is critical in our business, especially for Time & Materials Projects, where every hour is true revenue.

"Great PSA tool and collaboration with Salesforce"

What do you like best?

FinancialForce is the next level in terms of PSA solution. This helps my organization to manage project, financials and resources in a very efficient way from the basic user to the executive level. The support from the FF Consulting Services is really good they have great experience on SFDC if you are integrating this with Case Management which will give you a very powerful platform to track your sales to delivery process end-to-end in a single place.

What do you dislike?

The tool to migrate the configuration from one environment to the other could be improved. Also the documentation as APIs.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

If your organization has a very complex ecosystem like mine, I strongly recommend consider SI model or in house development to connect FF with different technologies.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Process alignment between all the Services organization, including Deployment, Consulting and Managed Services - it's key we have a tool flexible enough to support and scale process and user experience.

"PSA at Navis"

What do you like best?

That everything is in one platform. SF and FF share the same data.

Leveraging the bottom up planning with the Gantt to have a seamless sales to delivery experience

What do you dislike?

Gantt and Planners are not connected, changes in the planers are not reflected in the Gantt. New features are focused around planners and leave the Gantt outiside

Expense report creation, attaching an expense receipt on line item is a 5 click process and should be part of the expense report entry process.

Sharing of a snapshot of project status in the community only possible via a PDF, a dynamic project status report with field content history tracking. A workspace for the customer would be excellent.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Better end to end visability from sales to delivery

"A Great Tool: PSA"

What do you like best?

I'd have to say I enjoy the UI layout, first and foremost. It's clean and easy to read, furthering accessibility and operating within it. It makes it easier both as a user, and an Admin who trains new resources who are unfamiliar with Salesforce.

The UI has come a long way, and to see it's improvements shows just how focused the Salesforce team is.

What do you dislike?

Most importantly, I'd like to see more documentation, from both a high and low level for different objects and how they interact. The PSA Help Tool (http://help.financialforce.com/psa) is great, but it fails to describe the relationship objects have between one another.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Because of the great accessibility PSA provides, my team and I spend less time on aiding resources and Manager forecasting, and more time on bigger picture operational issues.

"Director, Network Solutions Specialists & Professional Services"

What do you like best?

The ability to track critical information for both performance and business metrics on each project. Combine this with the reporting capability of SFDC and you have a system that can track ProSvcs from the opportunity through closing of the project. At any point in that time, we can see where we are with the project, what our current performance is and collect all artifacts in one location.

What do you dislike?

It would be better to have an integration with MS Project or a stronger Gantt charting capability.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Keeping track of the project financials along with the project milestones. WIth PSA, we have a clear picture of milestones for invoicing and recognition of revenue on all our projects. This has also provided us with the ability to accurately forecast revenue which was not possible previously.

"Very powerful yet a bit confusing"

What do you like best?

Being able to track projects and how we're doing in terms of budget.

What do you dislike?

How everything is interrelated. It's good that everything works as checks and balances, but if I don't know the details of it, then when I run into an error, I have to call FF support for their help.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Powerful tool, but make sure to know all the details now things are related

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Problems resolved: Being able to assign project managers and other resources and being able to check how many hours they have worked toward a certain milestone/assignment. Being able to see the holistic view of how people are utilizing their time

Benefits: No need to track hours on Excel, project managers can request a resource and allow PS Ops Analyst to review the request and assign or not assign based on the resource's availability (checks & balances), and how we can track how much we've billed & what's left.

"Great tool if you have time to deploy"

What do you like best?

A lot of automation that helps with utilization calculations. Ability to use salesforce functionality to enhance process flow. Support has been great in answering all questions.

What do you dislike?

Very heavily coded and the code is not visible to assess when there is a problem. NO DOCUSIGN SUPPORT on PSA custom objects. A lot to administer from the SFDC side, not worth the overhead for small teams.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Need a few months to implement successfully. If you do not take the time to get everyone on board and develop/team standard procedurals it could become shelfware pretty quickly. Be wary of the PS team at FiancialForce for this product. My company paid a good amount for training and it was all stuff i had learned from troubleshooting in the first 6 months. It was not very helpful beyond that. Otherwise, there's a lot of understanding of built in automation that you have to grasp before launching.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Utilization rates so our PS resources are being adequately utilized in a billable sense. Seeing our Project docket and ability to assign the right resources based on project needs with the Resource Planner. Advanced analytics for our PS managers. Built on Salesforce so our Sales/Deal Desk/Legal teams are working in the same environment as PS so that the passoff between closing a deal and professional services engagements.

"Financial Force PSA Critique G2 Crowd"

What do you like best?

I like the way that PSA and FF interact! I do both billing and invoicing for my employer, and I actually think it helps for one person to do both. Especially with PSA/FF as your accounting system. I like the ability to see both the invoice I have created and the transaction behind it.

What do you dislike?

However, I do wish that Financial Force had the ability to delete certain invoices. This is probably the thing that irritates me the most. An administrator should have the capability to delete certain things, including invoices. We have quite a few "discarded" invoices floating around because there was an accidental duplicated upload when we went live--and I'm unable to delete those off.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It's great that we can finally see the selling of a product from start to finish. We see the flow as a product is sold, invoiced, and finally paid for. That is something we did not have in our previous accounting system!

"Great tool to track work hours"

What do you like best?

Well, what I like the best is the versatility that this tool has by giving you tons of options on how you want to schedule and track work hours.

What do you dislike?

Maybe will be the way you will select projects, could be improved instead of been jumping between projects, maybe a preview will be good.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Use it and you will know how in love you will fall on it!

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The lack of a proper track of billable hours, and non-billable as well

"Mostly does what I need, some strange behavior and support is not the best"

What do you like best?

The fact that PSA documents everything and tracks changes so we can have a history of who we've assigned to which projects, how much time they've delivered, and the fact that it integrates directly with Salesforce to make reporting easier.

What do you dislike?

The inability to customize the resource planner is sometimes frustrating, the fact that you can't report on data from the resource planner is constantly frustrating, reporting is sometimes inexplicably off, and there is not great integration with some packages that have caused us serious problems.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Make sure you're thinking long-term during your implementation and not just trying to go from what you've done in the past and try to mold PSA to do what you were doing before. It would have been much better if we could have thought ahead a bit more, so that's my main suggestion.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Consistency in scheduling process, efficiency in making assignments and recording billable time, project management, resource management, revenue reporting, forecasting (in progress, current forecasting is subpar).

"Experience with PSA tool"

What do you like best?

Multiple modules available and the fact the the CTO is active in the Developer community

What do you dislike?

Not lightning ready enough on the PSA side, as well as degradation of our response time and service level on the open cases (a case took over 2 months to resolve and we had to poll multiple times).

Some features are late to the game (ex: Risks and Issues should have been there way before and eliminate the need for us to create our own customizations and then having to migrate data)

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Consider your needs vs pricing and complexity of the solution

Make sure you understand that not everything is Lightning complete (lightning ready but not lightning complete)

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Project Management, visibility and consolidation over costs and project management

"Very Useful Tool "

What do you like best?

The ability to enter projects multiple times in order to track time. This feature helps me to make sure I've entered all of my time accurately.

What do you dislike?

The reporting is not very intuitive. When I want everyone to be able to see their own report, it's not intuitive that I have to filter for myself. It's also not easy to test this feature without someone else looking at the report.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

FinancialForce PSA has been extremely helpful in helping us to link our opportunities in SalesForce with our projects. This allows us to track margins and keep within budget much easier.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are using PSA in order to help us understand how much time we are spending on particular projects, how long different types of resources spend on projects, what our utilization is on client projects vs. internal projects, and when we can recognize revenue based on the delivery of our services.

"PSA + Me"

What do you like best?

FinancialForce PSA has helped us go paperless. Given us so much of our week back by having a single place to approve time and expenses. Also, creating and sending out client invoices has never been easier for our company. We now have turn around time of two days with invoices.

What do you dislike?

PSA has a 5 MB limit on attachments. I would love to see that limit higher. Our business requires the addition of all expense receipts each week. This can be as low as a few pages but also extremely high depending on the client and amount of consultants on a single project.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Before, we would receive hundreds of documents that need to be printed and collated each week. Now with FinancialForce PSA, we have gone entirely paperless and sped up our approval time of time and expenses!

"Great reporting functionality"

What do you like best?

Reports and Dashboards are easy to create and distribute. It is also very configurable so if it doesn't do something you need, there is likely a workaround for it.

What do you dislike?

The system doesn't do a number of things that I think are obvious for a PSA. For example, you can't filter or report on the current approver for objects like timecards and expense reports. So there is a lot of clicking into individual records when trying to follow up on unapproved records. Additionally, there is not much customization that can be done on Visualforce pages, which we have had a lot of requests for.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

While the system is very configurable, it can be very time consuming to create, test, and roll out custom objects/code. The product will only be worth the price if there is a resource that has the skills and time to effectively leverage all of the features of the platform.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

There is a lot more visibility to the business than what we had with our previous PSA. We have dashboards for every business unit so leaders can quickly assess the problem areas that need some extra attention.

"PSA Creating Operational Efficiencies"

What do you like best?

I like the 360 degree view that having Sales and Services on the same platform provide us. As a business, we need to not only track our sales pipeline but also have the visibility into our projects. Being a small business our team's are consistently pull in a million directions. Having PSA and Salesforce takes many of the administrative tasks off of our team and allows them to focus on our clients.

What do you dislike?

There is not much that I dislike. Even if there is functionality that is not currently present, the ongoing commitment by FinancialForce to create an ever evolving product is amazing.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

If you are looking for a professional services product, then select FinancialForce PSA. When compared to others, this solution has all of the needs to meet small to enterprise level companies. The flexibility of being on the Force.com platform allows any business to mold the solution to fit each unique business process.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Our business problems involved having limited visibility into the health of our projects and poor resource planning. We needed a solution that would show us what projects our team is working on and when they will have availability to take on more work. Given that PSA is built on the Force.com platform, we have been able to fully take advantage of the automation features. Automated emails, reports and dashboards are just a few of the benefits that we have been able to see.

"Good product, complex to setup. Transformed Project visibility and provides good financial data"

What do you like best?

Ability to roll-up costs and billing on a project by project basis, forecast revenue and schedule resources have transformed our business. Prior to PSA we were working with an old system including spreadsheets. PSA has proven very useful for Project Management. Has given our Project Managers to manage the projects themselves with minimal effort.

What do you dislike?

Permissions seem over complex and no streamlined way of allocating. Setting up new users is time consuming and quite a lot of customisation is required to perform some simple tasks such as automating assignment cost rates when a resource cost rate changes... and also PSA does not work well for contractors from a Utilisation perspective.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Good product, make sure requirements are understood prior to implementing PSA and try to trial the product prior to implementing it so you can understand its limitations and what is/is not possible.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Found it hard to manage projects prior to PSA and PSA has given the ability for Project visibility across the company
