EarnBill is the billing platform we built after spending 13 years engineering enterprise billing systems for some of the most demanding industries in the world - telecom, ISPs, cloud infrastructure, government. It's not a startup experiment. It's the product of two decades of solving real billing problems at real scale.
A bit of backstory, because it matters. Our team at Sarathi Softech has been the core engineering partner for Enterprise jBilling (owned by AppDirect) since 2012. Every jBilling enterprise deployment - the architecture, the code, the QA, the go-lives, the 3 AM production fixes; that's been us. Over those years we've shipped 20+ implementations across four continents, processed over $5 billion in revenue, and rated more than 7 billion CDRs. EarnBill is what came out of that experience. We call it jBilling++ internally; the same proven core, plus everything we wished the platform had after building it for a decade.
So what does EarnBill actually do well?
It handles billing complexity that most platforms struggle with. If you're running a simple SaaS subscription with three pricing tiers, you probably don't need us. But if your billing involves any combination of real-time prepaid charging, usage-based rating, multi-currency invoicing, CDR mediation, convergent prepaid-postpaid accounts, reseller hierarchies, or running multiple brands on one system; that's exactly what EarnBill was built for.
The Online Charging System is probably our strongest technical differentiator. It handles 1000+ concurrent sessions with sub-millisecond response times. We've proven 3x capacity scaling in production with zero revenue leakage. For telecom operators and ISPs running prepaid services, this is the piece that makes or breaks the billing stack.
On the postpaid side, the rating engine supports pretty much every pricing model we've encountered in 15 years: flat-rate, tiered, volume, usage-based, time-of-day, and custom hybrid models. The mediation layer collects and normalizes usage data from network elements before it hits the rating engine; so you're not feeding garbage data into your billing. Convergent billing means prepaid and postpaid run on the same platform, same customer record, no integration headaches between two separate systems.
Multi-brand is another area where we've been tested hard. One of our longest-running deployments manages 20+ brands on a single instance. Each with its own pricing, branding, and billing rules. Another manages four separate telecom brands for a national MVNO in Australia. The platform doesn't just support multi-brand in theory; it's been running that way in production for years.
For payments, we integrate with Stripe, PayPal, Authorize.net, Braintree, Worldpay, and several regional gateways; 10+ out of the box. Automated dunning, retry logic, ageing management, the whole lifecycle. Tax compliance runs through Avalara, covering US state taxes, Canadian provinces, EU VAT, and the telecom-specific surcharges that trip up a lot of billing platforms.
On the integration side, EarnBill connects with CRM, ERP, and Accounting System. The jBilling plugin architecture is honestly one of the best things about the platform; you can customize rating, pricing, invoicing, and workflow logic without touching core code. It's how we've been able to serve such different industries on the same platform without maintaining a dozen forks.
We deploy three ways: cloud-managed (we host and run it - fastest to production), private cloud (your AWS/Azure/GCP, we manage the platform), or fully on-premise. Same features, same support, same SLA regardless.
Security and compliance: ISO 27001:2022 certified, SOC 2 Type II compliant, PCI DSS compliant. 99.9% uptime SLA with round-the-clock monitoring. We serve government institutions and regulated telecom operators; the compliance bar is high and we've cleared it.
