One of the biggest improvements for me is Smart Mouse and Smart Select. Earlier, I had to keep navigating through manually selecting objects one by one, especially when working on complex drawings. Another feature I rely on is Smart Plotting. When I have multiple drawing sheets ready for release, I no longer need to print each one individually. Batch plotting saves a significant amount of time and reduces the chance of missing a sheet or using the wrong print settings.

IFC Import has also been valuable since I regularly receive files from teams using Revit. Earlier, exchanging data often required extra conversion steps. Really sorry to say this, but in recent years, the problems are getting bigger and bigger. :-( We constantly have random errors every day where functions in Solid Edge don't work as they should. And Solid Edge crashes very often without being able to save. And worst of all: 85% of the tickets we report are closed by Siemens, without being investigated because all the errors appear per random and cannot be reproduced. Since 10 years they tell us: The crashes will be fixed with next version, but its never finished. Sometimes there are payment ads that pop out if you are still in Basic. It also have some issues on lagging. I use Solidworks only for CAD set up and making drafting drawings. I have tried Solidworks CFD simulation and find it suboptimal. It is not that accurate for more complex geometries, and you don't have a lot of control over the mesh compared to traditional CFD methods. Downside to Develop is the lack of API and scripted automation hooks. I have been leveraging CLI based LLMs for a while and I have to manually export files to allow the tool to properly interact with the design.
