"More Time for Clients"
What do you like best about MicroStation?

What I really like about artificial intelligence and chat AI is how quickly it can provide useful information and help solve problems. It is available anytime and can explain complex topics in a simple way. It also helps with writing, learning new things, and improving productivity. I appreciate how interactive it feels, almost like having a knowledgeable assistant ready to help whenever I need it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about MicroStation?

One thing I don’t like about artificial intelligence is that it is not always perfectly accurate and sometimes gives information that needs to be double-checked. It also cannot fully understand human emotions or personal situations like a real person can. Because of that, conversations can sometimes feel less natural, and you still need human judgment when using AI tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Best tool for 2D/3D modeling and Drafting"
What do you like best about MicroStation?

Good and simplify work of converting 2D layouts to 3D in very less time. and adding a camera at an angle and drawing a path gives a very useful simulation walk through for easy class detection errors. overall a good tool where all files can be opened Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about MicroStation?

Tools like PDF conversion don’t give me much clarity in the files, and sometimes the software shows errors, closes unexpectedly, and makes me reopen all the files again. Other than that, everything is fine. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Reliable, Precise, and Handles Complex Models with Ease"
What do you like best about MicroStation?

What I like most about MicroStation is how reliable it feels once you get used to it. It handles large and complex models really well without slowing down, which makes a big difference when working on infrastructure or detailed engineering drawings. I also appreciate how precise the tools are it’s easy to control elements and maintain accuracy, which is crucial in engineering work. Over time, the workflow becomes quite efficient, and the level of control you have over design files is something I find really valuable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about MicroStation?

One thing I don’t really like about MicroStation is that the interface can feel a bit complicated, especially for someone who is new to it. It takes quite a bit of time to learn where everything is and how the workflows are set up. Sometimes even simple tasks can require several steps compared to other CAD software.

Another issue is that collaboration with people using other platforms can be a bit tricky. File compatibility and converting between formats doesn’t always work as smoothly as you’d hope. Also, some tools and settings are buried in menus, so finding them quickly can be frustrating until you’re very familiar with the software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Efficient 2D Design with Intuitive Shortcuts"
What do you like best about MicroStation?

I use MicroStation for 2D architectural drawings, like elevations and plans, mainly for small to medium-sized building projects. I really like the simple and easy-to-remember shortcuts, which are usually just two numbers compared to several letters in other software. It may sound like a small thing, but it saves hours in the long run. I also appreciate the very clean and precise results it provides. The setup was super easy, and the learning curve was immediate—I learned the software in just a couple of days. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about MicroStation?

3D MicroStation never quite gets good reviews from architects. But improving the compatibility with Revit and Rhino would definitely improve reviews. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Adaptable CAD Solution Expanding Design Capabilities"
What do you like best about MicroStation?

I like MicroStation because it's more adapted to new design trends than AutoCAD and offers wider functionality. It's also good that it has a direct contact to BIM models, which helps me solve small and special tasks with models that aren't part of the standard Bentley Cell Library. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about MicroStation?

I would say that the ribbon is a little confusing. You need to look in many places on a screen at the same time. The ribbon is very wide and big. I would be happy if the access to MicroStation API was wider. I am used to creating custom commands in Python, C# or AI, but Bentley often refuses to give my commands access to the model inside MicroStation. It was a little complicated at the start, but after 2 weeks of permanent work, it became easier. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Reliable, Precise CAD for Complex Infrastructure Projects"
What do you like best about MicroStation?

What I like best about MicroStation is how reliable and precise it feels, especially for large and complex infrastructure projects. It handles massive files with a level of stability that gives you confidence, even when you’re deep into detailed models or drawings. The accuracy tools are strong, and the way it manages references makes coordinating between disciplines much smoother. I also appreciate its flexibility—you can work in 2D or 3D without feeling boxed into a single workflow, and it adapts well to different project standards. Once you get comfortable with the interface and shortcuts, it becomes very efficient and consistent. MicroStation also integrates well with other engineering and design software, which is a big plus on multidisciplinary projects. Overall, it feels like a tool built for serious, real-world design work, where precision, control, and long-term project management really matter. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about MicroStation?

One thing I dislike about MicroStation is the learning curve, especially for new users or people coming from other CAD platforms. The interface can feel unintuitive at first, and some tools aren’t where you expect them to be, which can slow productivity early on. Simple tasks sometimes require more steps than necessary, and the terminology can be confusing if you’re not already familiar with the software. I also find customization and configuration to be powerful but overly complex—small changes can take time to set up correctly. Performance can occasionally lag when working with heavy 3D models or multiple references, depending on the system. In addition, finding clear, beginner-friendly learning resources isn’t always easy compared to more widely used CAD software. While it’s very capable, MicroStation can feel less approachable and less streamlined than some of its competitors. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Robust, Precise Control for Complex Designs with MicroStation"
What do you like best about MicroStation?

What I like best about MicroStation is the level of control and precision it offers when working on complex design projects. The software feels robust and reliable, especially when handling large files and detailed drawings without slowing down. I appreciate how well it manages references and levels, which makes organizing drawings much easier and cleaner. The ability to customize tools, workflows, and shortcuts helps improve productivity and allows me to work in a way that suits my style. MicroStation’s strong compatibility with different file formats is another big advantage, as it makes coordination with other teams smoother. I also find the accuracy of its drafting and annotation tools very dependable, which is critical when working on infrastructure or engineering projects. Overall, MicroStation gives me confidence that my designs are technically sound, well-structured, and ready for real-world application. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about MicroStation?

What I dislike about MicroStation is that it can feel overwhelming at first, especially for new users. The interface is not always very intuitive, and some basic tasks can take longer to learn compared to other CAD software. I find that certain commands are deeply nested, which slows down workflow until you get used to them. Customization is powerful, but setting it up can be time-consuming and sometimes confusing. Another drawback is that troubleshooting errors or unexpected behavior is not always straightforward, as clear guidance or prompts are limited. Performance can also depend heavily on system configuration, and occasional crashes or lag with heavy models can be frustrating. While MicroStation is very capable, I feel it has a steep learning curve and would benefit from a more user-friendly interface and simpler default workflows, especially for day-to-day drafting tasks. "Efficient 3D and 2D Integration, Needs Faster Export"
What do you like best about MicroStation?

I think the fact that we can draw 3D and incorporate it with 2D drawings is very useful. Creating 3D objects and then incorporating them into drawings saves time and increases efficiency. We can also export DGN to DWG and import DWG to DGN, which is very useful. I think reference attachment is also useful. I got training in MicroStation, so the initial setup was super easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about MicroStation?

When exporting DGN to DWG, it takes too long, and it creates a lot of unnecessary files. I think it could be nice if it creates only one drawing. I think importing and exporting DWG could be enhanced and made more efficient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
