**What do you like best about GeoSTORM?**

What I like most about GeoSTORM is its user-friendly interface and the efficiency it brings to model setup. The program significantly reduces project turnaround time by producing accurate results quickly and effectively. I especially appreciate the automatic watershed and subbasin delineation features, which streamline tasks that would otherwise take much longer in CAD software. Additionally, the 24/7 customer support provided by the GeoSTORM team is exceptional and truly sets it apart from other tools

**What do you dislike about GeoSTORM?**

One area where GeoSTORM could improve is in its error reporting system. When an error occurs, there are no specific error codes or detailed messages to help identify the cause or suggest possible solutions. Having descriptive error messages or a reference list of common errors with recommended fixes would make troubleshooting much easier and enhance the overall user experience

**What problems is GeoSTORM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

  ### 4. A Time-Saving Tool for Stormwater and Drainage Analysis

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kaitlin W. | Engineer 1, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 08, 2026

**What do you like best about GeoSTORM?**

I really like how the program makes it easy to delineate sub-basins and automatically calculate their areas. When performing SWPPP analyses in CAD, this step can be very time-consuming, so it’s helpful to have a tool that streamlines the process and saves a significant amount of time.
I also appreciate that the software automatically computes flow paths for determining time of concentration. This is another task that can take a considerable amount of time when done manually in CAD. Additionally, when calculating time of concentration values, the program allows you to base them on the site’s hydrologic soil properties, which is very useful. I also like that it provides a detailed breakdown of how the TC values are computed, making the process transparent and easy to follow.

**What do you dislike about GeoSTORM?**

One challenge I have experienced with GeoSTORM is modeling stormwater treatment, particularly when trying to represent pretreatment practices. At times, it can be difficult to configure the treatment components in a way that accurately reflects how the system is designed to function in the field. Because of this, I sometimes wish there were more flexibility to manually define or customize treatment processes within the model.
For example, having the option to manually represent pretreatment elements, such as sediment forebays or other initial treatment steps, would make it easier to more accurately reflect certain stormwater management designs. While the existing tools are helpful, additional manual modeling capabilities or more flexible configuration options for treatment practices would improve the program’s ability to represent complex systems.

**What problems is GeoSTORM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

GeoSTORM streamlines many of the most time-consuming aspects of stormwater modeling and SWPPP analysis. Tasks such as delineating drainage sub-basins, calculating drainage areas, determining flow paths, and computing time of concentration can take a significant amount of time when performed manually in CAD or spreadsheets. GeoSTORM automates much of this process, which improves efficiency and reduces the potential for manual calculation errors.
By integrating these calculations directly into the modeling workflow, the software allows me to focus more on evaluating stormwater management strategies and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, rather than spending excessive time on manual setup and calculations. This ultimately speeds up project development and helps produce more consistent and transparent hydrologic analyses.

**Official Response from Sara Presta:**

> Hello Kaitlin,

Thanks a lot for sharing your review. Reading comments like yours gives a boost to our confidence; and, of course, we are very pleased to know that GeoSTORM helps you achieve your engineering goals.

  ### 5. GeoSTORM Review for Urban and Rural Hydrologic Surface and Storm Sewer Analysis

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adam V. | Project Manager / Design Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 06, 2026

**What do you like best about GeoSTORM?**

Although I have not been using GeoSTORM for an extended period, I have already noticed several clear advantages compared to more conventional methods used for urban hydrology and hydraulics analyses. One of the strongest features is the ability to seamlessly pull data directly into the program, including DEMs, soil data, aerial imagery, roadway mapping, and CAD files. The fact that these datasets can be imported without needing to perform separate coordinate system corrections significantly streamlines the workflow and saves time during the design process. Additionally, customer support has been consistently responsive, knowledgeable, and eager to assist, which has made the learning curve much more manageable.

**What do you dislike about GeoSTORM?**

GeoSTORM offers a large number of video tutorials that are helpful for learning the software; however, it would be beneficial to also have a comprehensive user manual that could be easily referenced. While the program makes it relatively intuitive to add hydraulic features and place them correctly within a user-defined coordinate system, locating the specific tutorial needed to understand certain workflows or output options can take some time. A consolidated written guide or more detailed indexed reference could improve efficiency for both new and experienced users when searching for specific procedures or troubleshooting steps.

**What problems is GeoSTORM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

GeoSTORM helps address the complexity of analyzing and communicating drainage systems for both urban and rural developments. Many of my projects include a combination of overland channel flow with spillway outfalls, as well as detention ponds discharging into storm sewer trunk lines. GeoSTORM allows these interconnected systems to be modeled and viewed cohesively within a single platform, which improves both analysis efficiency and overall understanding of system behavior.

A significant benefit is the program’s visual capabilities, which make it easy to reference and navigate different portions of the drainage network directly within the software. This has been especially valuable when reviewing designs with clients, as it allows for clear, real-time discussion of how various components of the drainage system interact, improving communication and decision-making throughout the design process.

**Official Response from Sara Presta:**

> Hello Adam,

  ### 8. GeoSTORM review

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adrian A. | Senior Engineering Technician, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 19, 2025

**What do you like best about GeoSTORM?**

GeoSTORM provides significant time savings and is a highly useful tool for surface hydrology analysis. The software streamlines and automates processes that would otherwise require extensive manual calculations. Based on my experience comparing workflows before and after using GeoSTORM, the results generated by the program are consistent and highly comparable to those obtained through detailed hydrological calculations and analyses previously performed using multiple spreadsheets. This consistency adds confidence to the results while improving overall efficiency.

**What do you dislike about GeoSTORM?**

One of the few limitations of the software, as with many similar programs, is the learning curve required to become familiar with all of its tools. This learning process is necessary, as certain parameters must be reviewed and validated by the user. Additionally, users need to be able to identify potential issues that may arise during H&H simulations, which can occur if steps are missed when entering surface characteristics and/or design storm data. However, CivilGEO provides a variety of video tutorials that help support the learning process and facilitate user proficiency.

**What problems is GeoSTORM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

So far, I have not experienced any significant issues while using GeoSTORM. I have encountered a few minor inconveniences during certain simulations; however, these were not related to software errors but rather to the large size of the files being processed, which may require additional computation time. Additionally, CivilGEO’s technical support team regularly reaches out via email or phone to check for potential issues. While no major problems have arisen, it is reassuring to know that reliable technical support is available if assistance is needed.

  ### 9. Revolutionized Storm Sewer Design

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kenneth D. | Founder, President, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 04, 2026

**What do you like best about GeoSTORM?**

I especially like the ability to design storm sewer in profile view. This feature lets me automatically see changes in the hydraulic gradient when adjusting the geometry and size of storm pipes, enabling me to optimize the design. GeoSTORM's software has optimized the design process while dramatically reducing the time needed to complete a design. This capability has fundamentally changed how I approach storm sewer design.

**What do you dislike about GeoSTORM?**

There are small things that I'm sure over time will be enhanced. For instance, pipe connections do not always require a manhole between pipes. I'd also like for the software to enable the user to change the X and Y scale of profile plots. Further, it would be really great if the completed plan and profile views of a storm sewer pipe system could be output to a CAD file.

**What problems is GeoSTORM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

GeoSTORM eliminates spreadsheets for storm sewer design, optimizes design capabilities, and reduces completion time. It bridges the gap between drainage and storm sewer analysis, allowing visual inspection and real-time adjustment of storm sewer designs.

  ### 10. Excellent interface, with LIDAR processing, great tech service, and compatibility with AutoCAD

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Civil Engineering | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 25, 2026

**What do you like best about GeoSTORM?**

GeoSTORM combines an easy-to-use interface with the ability to use and process LIDAR. Implementation is easy, whether starting a new project from scratch or importing an existing one. Integration with AutoCAD is a simple matter or importing or exporting pipe networks. My favorite features are the undo button and scenarios. I also like the ability to test out pipe/node edits from within the profile view before you decide whether to keep them.

So far, I have used GeoSTORM successfully for several complex storm system modification projects over the last few months. I look forward to completing many more projects with this program in the future.

I have found the CivilGeo tech service to be fast, friendly, and responsive. If you have any issues or want to see a new feature, just let them know. Also, they provide training.

**What do you dislike about GeoSTORM?**

So far, I have used GeoSTORM to design major modifications to several complex existing storm systems. My only real complaint is the relatively large size of the nodes when shown within the profile view. They don't scale when you zoom in. It's annoying, but no program is perfect.

I had a couple of other problems, one with the software and some with my settings or data. Each time, tech service took care of it quickly, usually within a few hours.

**What problems is GeoSTORM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We had become frustrated with the limitations of AutoCAD SSA and were looking for an easy-to-use option with a full range of storm system analysis capabilities. I no longer waste precious time tracing down erroneous flows. I can design pipe networks in GeoSTORM and export them to AutoCAD for creation of construction plans. Saves time and money.

  ### 11. Easy Drainage System Modeling

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Civil Engineering | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 12, 2026

**What do you like best about GeoSTORM?**

Ease of drainage system modeling. Also, the software makes use of the GIS easy and available. The software makes it easy to use the terrain data to create digital elevation models from different sources.

**What do you dislike about GeoSTORM?**

There is not much to dislike. One of the issues that I have encountered is georeferencing a CAD drawing that was not created in Civil 3D. When I download the non-georeferenced CAD into the software, I can then drag it into the workspace, but then it takes several trial & error to locate the CAD content on an exact location. It would be great If the software could resolve this issue.

**What problems is GeoSTORM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The GeoSTORM reduces redundancy associated with drainage system design. The benefit is a more efficient project in term of time to completion. Another problem that the software solves is GIS data processing. The availability of the software to download and DEM from USGS website and then convert it to workable data is very valuable.

**Official Response from Sara Presta:**

  ### 12. GeoSTORM Simplifies Drainage Analysis

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrew I. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 20, 2025

**What do you like best about GeoSTORM?**

I am still very new to using GeoSTORM so I can't really speak on the programs ups and downs, but I am found the videos offered by CivilGeo very helpful in overcoming the initial learning curve. They provide a comprehensive guide that helps familiarize me with the software quickly. Additionally, I am impressed with the exceptional customer service provided by CivilGeo. The company genuinely strives to ensure that GeoSTORM meets the users' needs by periodically checking in and swiftly resolving any issues that arise. These support efforts make a significant positive difference in my experience, especially as I am still getting accustomed to the program.

**What do you dislike about GeoSTORM?**

Due to my lack of experience it is difficult to state what I dislike, but I would recommend a 'Helpful Tips' area that can be toggled on and off. It took me a long time to find out how to snap to objects, as I was unaware that many of the keyboard shortcuts are the same as in CAD. A beginner-friendly tips section within the program that can be easily turned off would enhance the learning experience. Although online videos from CivilGeo are helpful, nobody wants to watch a full video just to learn basic keyboard shortcuts. These basics could be better addressed through built-in tips.

**What problems is GeoSTORM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

GeoSTORM allows me to determine the time of concentration quickly. I have been using GeoSTORM to evaluate the drainage area and run off coming towards a project site and determine if the run off will overtop a newly constructed dirt road that does not appear on the DEM surface files. I was able to easily import my CAD surface and merge it with the DEM surface to evaluate the water at the road.

**Official Response from Sara Presta:**

> Hello Andrew,

  ### 16. Streamlined Drainage Design

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Zach H. | Civil Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 16, 2025

**What do you like best about GeoSTORM?**

What I like best about GeoStorm is its flexibility to run multiple hydraulic analysis engines within the same platform, which keeps all aspects of drainage design in one place. It streamlines the workflow by reducing the need to move data between different tools. I also appreciate that the GeoStorm team has been very responsive and prompt in addressing software issues, which gives confidence in both the tool and its support.

**What do you dislike about GeoSTORM?**

One limitation I’ve found with GeoStorm is the inability to discard flow from the system, similar to how HydroCAD allows a certain flow to be bypassed or excluded. This can make it more difficult to represent certain drainage conditions and requires extra workarounds in the modeling process.

**What problems is GeoSTORM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

GeoSTORM solves the problem of having to juggle multiple software platforms for stormwater and drainage design. By integrating different hydraulic analysis engines into one environment, it eliminates the inefficiency of transferring data back and forth and ensures consistency across analyses. This all-in-one approach saves time, reduces errors, and makes it easier to manage complex projects. Additionally, the responsive support team has been a benefit, since any issues that arise are addressed quickly, minimizing downtime.

  ### 18. GeoSTORM for Efficient Stormwater Drainage Design

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consulting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 20, 2026

**What do you like best about GeoSTORM?**

GeoSTORM provides a clear, structured workflow for stormwater drainage design, with quick hydrologic and hydraulic calculations and automatic generation of profiles and reports. The interface is straightforward, integrates well with typical site grading inputs, and allows rapid iteration when layouts or assumptions change, which is very helpful during design revisions. In addition, the customer support was helpful in guiding me through my first project, which made the initial setup and learning process much smoother.

**What do you dislike about GeoSTORM?**

Based on my experience, it was somewhat difficult to clearly understand and follow the required workflow steps, especially during initial use. The sequence of inputs and dependencies between steps are not always intuitive, which increases the learning curve for new users.

  ### 24. It is flawless...

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** DAVID V. | President and Senior Water Resources Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 25, 2025

**What do you like best about GeoSTORM?**

I have taken at least four courses on PCSWMM, and yet I still find it difficult to tackle some workflows. Geostorm is like working with a LEGO model, although I must agree with one previous reviewer that adding catch basins to the pipe instead of a model is quite awkward. That is a SWMM flaw, not a GEOSTORM flaw. Some other wrappers have worked around that, and with good reason. I believe that CivilGEO would like to cover all EPASWMM bases before tweaking the actual model, and that is completely understandable. You have to walk before you run, but my first work with GEOStorm was a gigantic solar farm that covered an entire town, draining to a river that was also modeled in GEOStorm. I tried Autodesk's Infoworks, and I don't understand why a flood model needs to look like a relational database.

GEOStorm will be your best bet if results are what you are after. The problem with most of these other programs is that they fail to prioritize the user experience. If you need to gather rainfall, streamflow, terrain, land cover, and soil data before laying out your model, you are already a couple of days behind, and most importantly, you will be tired before you start modeling. See, I look forward to working with CivilGeo's tools. It is that engaging, and that in itself is a battle won. The most difficult part of any project is getting started, and CivilGEO's products invite you to do just that. When was the last time you were eager to work? You have to experience it, because you have three options;

1 - Work slowly
2- Have a battery of Python scripts that can pull all that data for you. (Good luck maintaining that library for a few users.)
3-Use Geostorm

Five years ago, I wasn't sure if I would continue with my career in water resources. I was getting tired and bored. CivilGEO is one of the main reasons that I continued, and for that, I am grateful.

If you cannot relate to that, the same thing happened to me on the other side of my professional career, land development, some ten to twelve years ago. Learning Civil3D changed that.

Many people are familiar with CAD, and a significant number are also familiar with GIS. It is the common ground and the intersection of these two that makes things go right. CivilGEO understands that.

**What do you dislike about GeoSTORM?**

Not a 2D solver yet, but that is coming, so not much.

**What problems is GeoSTORM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Like I said, it is the common ground between GIS and CAD and the ability to switch seamlessly between the two. I don't know of anybody else paying myuch attention to that. While the reality is that most water resources dayly issues live at that scale that could be defined as the common ground between these two.

**Official Response from Sara Presta:**

> Hi David,

  ### 25. Large Learning Curve but Worth the Time

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Myron F. | Principal/Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 05, 2025

**What do you like best about GeoSTORM?**

Like most reviewers indicated, there is a learning curve to GeoStorm. However, there is an ease of use right out of the gate. It is well worth the time spent and CivilGeo's technical Support is very responsive and willing to help. We have implemeted Geostorm on 3 projects so far for land entitlement and the ability to easily change terrains or CAD files while projects are evolving. This allows us to insert Hydraulics and Water Quality earlier on in the conversations and more efficiently allocate areas for stormwater treatment and storage. The software was easily integrated into our projects and implementation throughout the company was fairly simple.

**What do you dislike about GeoSTORM?**

The biggest downside is getting the local agencies familiar with the outputs of GeoStorm. Locally there is 2 software platforms developed in the 1990s and bringing a new report format for approval took a little convincing.

**What problems is GeoSTORM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are able to talk about hydraulics and water quality earlier in the conversations when entitling property. Because GeoStorm is flexible and accepts DWGs and Digital Terrains, the model can develop alongside the other disciplines.

**Official Response from Sara Presta:**

> Hi Myron,

Thank you for taking the time to share your review; your comments certainly made our day! We're thrilled to learn how you are improving your engineering projects and work processes with GeoSTORM. ### 26. GeoSTORM Great for Hydrologic Analysis

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ben Y. | Project Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 09, 2025

**What do you like best about GeoSTORM?**

The automatic DEM downloading as well as automatic watershed delineation allow the user to quickly gain an understanding of the surrounding subbasins for their project. Testing different water paths is user-friendly as well and makes obtaining an accurate time of concentration simple. Customer support is also always willing to help if anything isn't working properly.

**What do you dislike about GeoSTORM?**

The only issue we have experienced with the software is that the DEM downloader stopped working for us. We instead had to download the DEM surfaces using other methods, but this was a minor inconvenience.

**What problems is GeoSTORM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

GeoSTORM allows our firm to quickly obtain a time of concentration for use in hydrologic modeling of bridge openings.

  ### 28. The GeoSTORM is a reliable, easy to use and can be used for any project.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sara I. | Civil 3D Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 11, 2025

**What do you like best about GeoSTORM?**

That automates many things and saves you valuable time.

**What do you dislike about GeoSTORM?**

This comment is more about the content than the program itself. And it is, that for now I don't have explanatory videos of many tools, for example how to configure each of the LID methods, how to configure a chamber or a pond, also how to connect these systems to download points to obtain the post development runoff and others things. But I understand that they are slowly integrating material and I know they will succeed.

**What problems is GeoSTORM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

First, the time, the program already calculates many things that in other programs you have to look for it manually and secondly that not only calculates but gives you the information in real time of the data that is using, for example, the types of soil.

**Official Response from Sara Presta:**

> Hello Sara,

Thanks a lot for sharing your review. Reading comments like yours gives a boost to our confidence; and, of course, we are very pleased to know that GeoSTORM helps you achieve your engineering goals.

  ### 29. Next generation software

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Civil Engineering | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 20, 2025

**What do you like best about GeoSTORM?**

The combined integration of multiple software into one makes it easy to use and deliver a project in half the time. It's the only software I use for storm sewer and detention pond design.

**What do you dislike about GeoSTORM?**

So far, nothing comes up to mind because the software is complete.

**What problems is GeoSTORM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Integration of GIS and terrain analysis all in one which reduce work load.

**Official Response from Sara Presta:**

> Hi,

  ### 30. Very Intuitive

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Samuel C. | Civil Engineer I, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 06, 2025

**What do you like best about GeoSTORM?**

It has a lot of tools that make designing projects very easy to use even with very little experience with the product. Also, customer support was very prompt and helpful when needed.

**What do you dislike about GeoSTORM?**

It would be nice to have some features that allow you to manually upload your own data. For example, if I need my storm duration data to match the data given by a DOT, it would be nice to be able to input that rather than only using NOAA

**What problems is GeoSTORM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am using its hydrology tools for bridge and roadway crossings. We hope to use it later for urban stormwater management.

**Official Response from Sara Presta:**

> Hello Samuel,

Thanks a lot for sharing your review. Reading comments like yours gives a boost to our confidence, and, of course, we are very pleased to know that GeoSTORM helps you achieve your engineering goals.

  ### 31. GeoSTORM is challenging to learn, but extremely useful.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Civil Engineering | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 20, 2025

**What do you like best about GeoSTORM?**

1. The program is very advanced and capable of performing some tasks better than Bentley's products, such as using terrain to generate drainage areas.
2. The ease of finding rainfall data and hydrologic soil groups is very useful.
3. Technical support was very helpful.

**What do you dislike about GeoSTORM?**

1. I don't like that there is a steep learning curve. I had to call technical support to learn how to make just a simple drainage network layout.
2. The fact that catch basins have to be attached to a roadway segment is confusing and time-consuming.
3. I've experienced a lot of latency with the software. I updated to the latest version, but it didn't completely take away the issue. It seems like it's overwhelmed very easily once you add terrain.
4. I wish it integrated better with Civil3D like Bentley StormCAD, but it's not a dealbreaker.

**What problems is GeoSTORM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Once we learn the program better, I expect it will speed up our calculations considerably for desiging storm sewers.

**Official Response from Sara Presta:**

> Hello,

Thanks a lot for sharing your review. Reading comments like yours gives a boost to our confidence; and, of course, we are very pleased to know that GeoSTORM helps you achieve your engineering goals.

We also appreciate hearing your concern regarding the catch basins being attached to a roadway segment, software latency, and better integration with Civil3D. Rest assured, our team is constantly working to improve the many features and overall workability of GeoSTORM.

  ### 32. Software that incorporates all stormwater requirements into one program

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michelle L. | Principal Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 31, 2025

**What do you like best about GeoSTORM?**

It's great to finally have a software that incorporates stormwater requirements for hydromodification and hydraulic analysis into one program. I can easily import my data from Civil 3D, including surfaces, flow paths, drainage areas and storm pipe information into GeoSTORM. I am able to choose what type of design storm I want to use, which storm frequencies I want to model, and customize the reports of the results. The best part about GeoSTORM is the 24-7 customer support. It is never easy to learn a new program, but the learning curve has been quick because I can call anytime and get a hold of someone who point me in the right direction.

**What do you dislike about GeoSTORM?**

It needs more options for customizing irregularly-shaped storage chambers. There needs to be a way to design outlet structures for bioretention areas. It would also be beneficial to have separate structures for manholes vs. drain inlets.

**What problems is GeoSTORM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is easy to transfer data between Civil 3D and GeoSTORM without entering the information twice. I can also select from different types of storm designs that I want to use. It also has a lot of the information already in the program, such as bing maps, FEMA flood boundaries and soil surveys.

**Official Response from Sara Presta:**

> Hello Michelle,

Thanks a lot for sharing your review. Reading comments like yours gives a boost to our confidence; and, of course, we are very pleased to know that GeoSTORM helps you achieve your engineering goals.

We also appreciate hearing your concern regarding fewer options for customizing irregularly shaped storage chambers. Rest assured, our team is constantly working to improve the many features and overall workability of GeoSTORM.

  ### 33. GeoSTORM has been a great tool to speed up our stormwater analysis

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Will S. | Project Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 19, 2025

**What do you like best about GeoSTORM?**

Support staff is great and always available. I especially like the ability for the support staff to join your session if needed and make real time adjustments to your model to help. The online data to draw from for topo and ground cover has been great for projects in rural Georgia to get more accurate analysis.

**What do you dislike about GeoSTORM?**

The software can be overwelming in the beginning of use with alot of options that make it difficult to know what step is next. This is offset however by the quick availability of the support staff for any questions.

**What problems is GeoSTORM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

GeoSTORM has quickly streamlined our detention pond design and analysis. This has been a pinch point for our firm for several years but the ease and quickness of GeoSTORM allows us to finalize designs for these ponds within a few hours when it use to take several days to find all the data and run a model.

**Official Response from Sara Presta:**

> Hi Will,

Thank you for taking the time to share your review; your comments certainly made our day! We're thrilled to learn how you are improving your engineering projects and work processes with GeoSTORM. It is extremely gratifying to know that GeoSTORM meets your needs and helps you achieve your goals. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do to assist you. ### 34. The Up and Coming Urban Stormwater Software

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kevin G. | Engineering in Training, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 21, 2025

**What do you like best about GeoSTORM?**

The quantity of automated commands is above the competition and their hydrology/hydraulics word document report is very neatly organized.

**What do you dislike about GeoSTORM?**

For large storm events that have flow from one side of the street to the other, it is difficult to accurately model as a side weir flow with the current capabilities of the software.

**What problems is GeoSTORM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The primary benefit of GeoSTORM is that it makes stormwater calculations and design a lot faster.

**Official Response from Sara Presta:**

> Hello Kevin,

Thanks a lot for sharing your review. Reading comments like yours gives a boost to our confidence; and, of course, we are very pleased to know that GeoSTORM helps you achieve your engineering goals.

  ### 35. Geostorm

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Istiaque M. | Civil Engineer, P.E., Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2025

**What do you like best about GeoSTORM?**

The best thing about Geostorm is the library, i.e. inlets, underground detention chambers etc. The software is intuitive to use, and really easy to get going. People who does drainage analysis on a regular basis would find this software very helpful. Also, their support team is really good, and their response time is fast.

**What do you dislike about GeoSTORM?**

It creates a lot of folders where you put your model. Also, there's a difference in how fast the software runs between your local drive versus your server.

**What problems is GeoSTORM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Geostorm to create drainage model to run my site drainage analysis, and I also create drainage reports from those drainage models.

**Official Response from Sara Presta:**

> Hello Istiaque,

Thanks a lot for sharing your review. Reading comments like yours gives a boost to our confidence; and, of course, we are very pleased to know that GeoSTORM helps you achieve your engineering goals.

  ### 37. Geo Storm Review

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Civil Engineering | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2025

**What do you like best about GeoSTORM?**

The best part about Geo Storm is the programs ability to calculate the Peak flow runoff and the ability to calculate the Time of concentration within the software. This helped me save time by not having to find these values by hand. The program is really easy to use and the tutorials in the help section made it even better.

I currently use this program for multiple projects and it is very helpful.

**What do you dislike about GeoSTORM?**

I had a few issues with the program crashing and giving me error that required a full restart of the program but the tech team helped me solve the issues.

**What problems is GeoSTORM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Geo storm is helping solve some drainage calculation and total flow onto and within the project site. The Program is currently helping me save time in the calculations.

  ### 39. User Friendly Software That Improves Efficiency of Data Collection and Analysis

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Civil Engineering | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 28, 2025

**What do you like best about GeoSTORM?**

Having experience with XPSWMM and other hydrologic and hydraulic software products, I am most impressed with GeoStorm's ability to quickly capture and place on your projects horizontal and vertical datum publicly available data such as Google maps, USGS surface files, FEMA flood zone data, USACE wetland data, as well as land use data, % impervious data, etc. Without setting foot in the field, an engineer can quickly develop watershed / subbasin drainage areas, estimate overland slopes, and other hydrologic features of a project area such as runoff coefficients and estimated times of concentration along an automatically computed (or manually drawn) hydraulic length. The software can also download NOAA Atlas 14 precipitation data for the project site at the click of a couple of buttons, from which hydrologic calculations utilizing the Rational Method and Modified Rational Method (among other modeling approaches) can be completed. Depending on the size and complexity of the project area, a fairly detailed hydrologic study can be completed within just a few hours. That, to me, is the biggest time saver.

Hydraulically, setting up a drainage network is also very user friendly. GeoStorm has the ability to reference in your CAD files (in AutoCAD or Microstation formats) and to also place same into the appropriate datum to mesh with the layers discussed above. Tracing of your hydraulic network on your design is greatly simplified as a result. Then, assigning drainage areas and their hydrologic results to various points of your hydraulic network is also a great asset.

Lastly, Customer Support is exceptional. Any question is answered in a very timely manner with the transmittal of an email to their support team (24/7). Most times, you receive a call within an hour from an expert, and I have yet to have a problem left unresolved or a question unanswered. GeoStorm designers have even updated the software twice upon my request to include certain features. I can't think of any other software company that provides that level of service.

All in all, I would recommend this software to civil engineers. The workflows within the software to create hydrologic and hydraulic models is very fluid and remarkably easy to navigate.

**What do you dislike about GeoSTORM?**

I am still trying to get comfortable with the hydraulic calculations that GeoStorm utilizes to analyze hydrologic and hydraulic networks. Until then, I have nothing negative to say at all about the software.

**What problems is GeoSTORM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For us, GeoStorm has solved the workflow problem of providing one platform that can quickly capture publicly available background data, onto which hydrologic modeling can be set up, onto which a drainage network can be laid out, from which analyses can be completed.

  ### 40. GeoSTORM Review

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Civil Engineering | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2025

**What do you like best about GeoSTORM?**

GeoSTORM provides a relatively easy to use software that is accurate and detailed and great for any job. It has helped me analyze projects with confidence and assurance that it will leave me satisfied with my final results.

**What do you dislike about GeoSTORM?**

The only thing that I dislike is the regional stormwater data that is available. Most of the time it's due to the area itself, but sometimes the regional rainfall data tool is under maintenance which can delay a project. CivilGeo is very good at getting things repaired in a timely manner, so it has never been costly to a project I have worked on.

**What problems is GeoSTORM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This is helpful with larger residential developments and how the stormwater system is integrated into our grading.

  ### 41. Very convenient. Time saver.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Civil Engineering | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 17, 2025

**What do you like best about GeoSTORM?**

I like the CAD resemblance. The way you pan and the object snapping. The ease of generating terrains from a CAD surface, importing/exporting CAD pipe network, very convenient. Saves a lot of time during design. You no longer have to do things twice. Also, the available elevation/terrain data is very convenient. You don't need lidar data or a CAD surface to use the software. The report generation feature is a huge time saver and does a really good job displaying the results and just making it look good.

**What do you dislike about GeoSTORM?**

Stamp geometry feature crashes at times.

**What problems is GeoSTORM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helps save time during design phase.

The ability to have a one stop shop for all stormwater design and calculation needs allows for more in sync data. The upsides to using Geostorm are the auto drainage basin creation based on topography and then ability to gather CN, Tc Paths, and flow quantities. Custormer support has been top notch in there willingness to help and the speed of their responses. We now use Geostorm on numerous projects and various and is easy to use.

**What do you dislike about GeoSTORM?**

GeoStorm is a high level program, there is a bit of a learning curve to get over before you will unlock the full potential.

**What problems is GeoSTORM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Stormwater management calculations time.
