"Software Integration/Technical Support"
What do you like best about GeoHECHMS?

I have just recently started to use GeoHMS daily again since last year and havent noticed many updates or differences. Overall i love this software and we really pushed the higher ups to renew the license becasue it is so helpful. There are some smaller elements that i think could make the software even stronger and help user workflow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GeoHECHMS?

-A lock or read-only mode for supplied model elements would be helpful for regulatory workflows--especially when we only want to add or isolate certain features without changing the approved hydrology that is not impacted by the updates.

-Make calculation assumptions clearer and allow options. For example, when calculating TCs the hydraulic radius is assumed. However, some cities prefer velocities for channelized flow to be assumed. In the report feature include more detailed calculations so it is easier to implement in the submitted report. Or possibly allow an option to generate a well-structured TC and CN excel sheet that includes detailed calculations.

-For CN calcs include the basin name in the attribute table for the intermediate results shapefile. This way if we need to merge all of them together in GIS they still can be categorized by the basin

-Allow for several terrain layering for tcs etc. For example if we have multiple terrains and want one terrain read for part of the tc and a different one for a seperate portion.

-The report feature is very beneficial however i think AI could be implemented to help improve the context, structure, calculations, etc. This will help the user better incorporate the hydrology model and its parameters in their overall drainage report that is to be submitted.

-Allow better control of what component is being selected. Right now, if i have the HMS model on and add a cad file or other shapefiles i cannot select them while the hms model is on.

-In HEC-RAS there is a tool that allows the user to compare geometries and points out any differences. This would be beneficial in GeoHMS

-Before running the model if there are elements with no downstream connection add a pop up before running prompting the user to confirm before running. There have been times when working with large models that i have gone through several iterations and then find out that one junction is missing a connection. What do you like best about GeoHECHMS?

I find the automated subbasin delineation, reaches, land use, curve number, and time of concentration very helpful. And the automatic report builder with the hydrograph plots makes it easy to see a graphical comparison of pre vs. post development. Further, CivilGeo customer support is excellent, they have an option to remote in and complete any task that you ask. I'm very impressed with their Customer support. "Powerful Visualization and Reporting That Streamlines Modeling in GeoHECHMS"
What do you like best about GeoHECHMS?

Like all CivilGeo products, GeoHECHMS is equipped with powerful visualization tools and settings that organize large amount of information and data. Overlaying high resolution images, topography and GIS information allow our team to delineate drainage basins, longest flow paths, assign landuse types and produce calculations all in one software. The ability to reference public data sets such as Web Soil Survey and NLCD landuse data reduce the amount of time spent outside of the software downloading and processing information. GeoHECHMS also offers powerful output and reporting options that have greatly streamlined our workflow and allow our team to spend more time refining our modeling. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GeoHECHMS?

Some of the output options for intermediate calculations are buried within windows and can be difficult to find (such as impervious area when using NLCD data). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"GeoHECHMS: Intuitive, Fast, and Easy for Hydrological Studies"
What do you like best about GeoHECHMS?

GeoHECHMS has taken our typical Hydrological Drainage Studies and amplified the speed with which we can complete them. The User Interface makes it quick and easy to work with and is extremely intuitive towards new employees learning the program. We are able to implement it quickly and easily into the majority of our work. My favorite part of the program is the ease of delineating large scale watershed subbasins that can be refined to smaller acreage if you are looking for a more detailed study of larger scale watersheds. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GeoHECHMS?

There really is not much to dislike. If I would have one recommendation, it would be that they push updates quite often and it can be cumbersome when one employee working on a project is on a later version from the week before and has to update to work in the current version weekly. "Unified, Intuitive Hydrology Workflow in One Platform"
What do you like best about GeoHECHMS?

The most helpful thing about GeoHECHMS is that it brings the entire hydrology workflow into one unified, easy to use platform. Instead of bouncing between GIS software, manual calculations, and separate modeling tools, everything from watershed delineation to routing and reporting is built into a single, intuitive interface. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GeoHECHMS?

Some tools in GeoHECHMS can feel a bit sensitive to geometry or projection issues, which sometimes leads to troubleshooting steps that interrupt the workflow. It would also be helpful if certain processes like junction creation or flowpath assignment were more automated to reduce manual adjustments. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Revolutionizes Watershed Analysis with Powerful GIS Integration"
What do you like best about GeoHECHMS?

GeoHEC-HMS makes it easier to analyze watersheds using spatial data through leveraging GIS capabilities on top of HEC-HMS. It allows automatic watershed delineation from elevation models, integrates land use and soil data, and provides map-based visualization for better accuracy and interpretation. This integration improves runoff and flood predictions, simplifies data management, and supports scenario analysis for projects like stormwater planning and flood risk assessment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GeoHECHMS?

GeoHEC-HMS has some disadvantages, such as a steep learning curve because it requires both GIS and hydrologic modeling skills. It also depends on high-quality spatial data, which may not always be available, and setting up and calibrating models can be time-consuming. Additionally, it often needs powerful hardware and, if used with commercial GIS software, can involve extra licensing costs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Modern, Comprehensive Solution for Hydrologic Analysis"
What do you like best about GeoHECHMS?

GeoHECHMS provides all of the external resources that could be necessary for a complete hydrologic analysis.

The original Army Corps of Engineers HEC-HMS software always seemed like an "old" software regarding its interface and features. GeoHECHMS upgrades it to a modern software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GeoHECHMS?

I have not used the software enough to discover its downsides. Compared to regular HEC-HMS, GeoHECHMS is an upgrade, and I haven't used any other software like it to compare it against. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
