Useres will already be inherently familiar which makes training much easier. **What do you dislike about Solver?** Although building reports is done in excel, different formulas and laugauge used in building the reports is not as intuitive as I would have thought. There is a learning curve even for excel experts. **What problems is Solver solving and how is that benefiting you?** Solver has taken our budgeting and financial report distribution out of Excel. Our budget excel file was enormous and had a lot of room for error. This puts everything in the database and allowed us to complete the process much faster with significantly more data integrity. It's also allowsing us to easily create and distribute a list of financial reports that are user firendly and updated in real time. There is no comparison to our old process. ### 5. Once you have the templates up and running, scanario planning and forecasting become simple. Although some may say it is a concentration of software products risk, we will be able to get off or an additional reporting package and deploy a reporting deck much more easily. **What do you dislike about Solver?** I wish we were able to highlight cells in the software like Excel to flag follow up items. Also, I have to export to aggragate cells, rows or columns where I can just select the desired area in Excel and calculate a total in the bottom right. **What problems is Solver solving and how is that benefiting you?** Scanario planning , forecasting, budgeting and reporting. The implementation for the budgeting module has been very trying. I work in Quality and the connection with my ERP system allows for daily information on compliance metrics. **What do you dislike about Solver?** A few things that are a downside to Solver would be the connection between my ERP system refreshes only once per day. Also the learning curve to the program is steep, I was very fortunate to take the intro courses at the Solver conference. Having directed step-by-step and troubleshooting was excellent in preparing me for use when I got back to work. **What problems is Solver solving and how is that benefiting you?** It is resolving me having to build excel reports everytime I need a new set of data, such as quarterly review, being able to connect to the ERP system and run a search for time periods eliminates the need to copy/paste a report every time I need it. ### 31. Continually improving reports and training can make a big difference. **Recommendations to others considering Solver:** It clearly is better than working with Excel only. The BI360 data warehouse and report writer are a world changer. Why spend hours updating Excel when you can spend minutes running BI360 reports from within Excel? **What problems is Solver solving and how is that benefiting you?** Having to re-import data to an excel spreadsheet and updating references, dragging formulas, etc... are now a thing of the past. The BI360 data warehouse reduces hours of manual work in an outdated error prone process. ### 32. Solver is a great tool, easy to use, and its best part is the link it has with Excel. I didn't have to learn a whole new system before being able to use Solver, and it is a very intuitive system as well. **What do you dislike about Solver?** The only disavantage so far is that the person that builds a report is the specialist in it. And if that person leaves the company and has not trained anyone on that report before, part of the knowledge is lost. I also love the Archive feature, as I can refer users back to this area instead of resending manually via email. **What do you dislike about Solver?** Sometimes I have to add back fields such as Account, Account Description, etc. They don't disappear; the report just stops working until I drag these over the existing fields (replace them). I haven't been able to locate the cause for this to occur. However, it is almost like having to start over. I would love to see more Period Functions. For example, I need a Daily Balance report for Cash and cannot create it due to the limited options. Because each report is a stand-alone report, I find that changes, for example to an Income Statement, require making the change for each presentation (Monthly, Year to Date, Trailing Twelve Month). As the number of reports grow this is becoming more cumbersome. It would be helpful if, as Admin, I could turn off certain functions that I do not wish for users to have the ability to access when running reports. For example: Comment, Share, Add to Archive. When combining multiple reports through Publish, it is often difficult to determine which report parameters belong to which report. It would be helpful to see the report name next to the parameters. It would be helpful as well if troubleshooting were easier to locate online. Solver allows us to quickly pull together raw data from our ERP and pretty it up in a way that makes sense to our end users. The planning feature allows us to forecast through Solver, which lets the end-user enter their own budget for a store and save it via the writeback functionality. Solver has saved our company countless hours of spreadsheeting and keeps our reporting secure with centralized version control. Being "excel like", Solver is also easily accepted and understood. **What do you dislike about Solver?** Issues can sometimes be hard to track down, and if an update is required to solve an issue, that can also take a while to come back. I also think the integration piece could use some adjustments, such as being able to cancel a job that is currently running. If per say the cloud gateway connection drops during an integration job runtime, the job will get hung up until it times out or the next scheduled job runs, which can cause some frustration and could be easily resolved if the job could be stopped on demand. **What problems is Solver solving and how is that benefiting you?** Solver allows us to centralize our financial reporting and verify that the data is being represented correctly. Before using Solver, every end-user had their own report version, which could be incorrect and passed around to others. Without a centralized BI application, version control is a major issue. Solver saves hours of time each week, especially at month end, compiling financial data on how a certain store did or the entire company as a whole. Solver also allows us to forecast our entire business with the planning tool. Our data is also cleaned and monitored, which greatly reduces the risk of data issues that manually compiling your own report could cause if a company wasn't using a BI suite. ### 46.
