It is an AI-accelerated extended financial planning and analysis solution that helps organizations make actionable insights available beyond the finance department. It brings data from multiple sources together for consistent reporting and supports planning, reporting, consolidation, and analysis.

What languages does Solver support?

It supports 10 languages, including Danish, English, French, German, Italian, and others.

What company sizes and industries is Solver the best fit for?

Positive experiences are most represented among small and mid-market organizations, with reviewers also coming from enterprise companies. The industries with the strongest presence include accounting, nonprofit organizations, and healthcare.

How long does it take to implement Solver across a team?

Implementation time varies with the setup, but 3–6 months is the most commonly reported range. Teams also report getting live in shorter or longer periods.

What customer support options does Solver provide, and how do users find the overall support experience?

Support options include chat, email/help desk, and a knowledge base. The support experience is often described as helpful, knowledgeable, and responsive, though some users encounter delays or inconsistent follow-through.

What is the experience like for teams switching to Solver from another tool?

Teams have moved to Solver from spreadsheet-based processes and from legacy reporting or planning tools, including systems such as FRx, Management Reporter, Adaptive, and Prophix. The change is valued for more flexible reporting, budgeting, and consolidation, but report design and setup can take time to learn, particularly when the data structure is complex.

What tools and platforms does Solver integrate with, and how do these integrations help users get more value from the product?

Solver offers 22 integrations, with users describing connections across finance systems and familiar reporting tools.
  • ERP and accounting: Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Dynamics GP, Dynamics SL, Sage Intacct, SAP Business One, QuickBooks Online, and NetSuite

  • Other business systems: Addepar
These connections help bring data together for consolidated reporting and analysis, reducing manual exports and spreadsheet assembly. The experience can depend on the source system and connection setup, with some teams noting refresh delays or connectivity hurdles.

What features or capabilities could make Solver even more useful?

More intuitive report building and clearer guidance when something goes wrong would make Solver easier to work with. Users also point to opportunities to improve its workflows, templates, and performance.
  • Simplify report and template design, especially for new or less technical users.
  • Make error messages and troubleshooting resources clearer so users can identify and resolve issues more easily.
  • Expand workflow and template-management options, including smoother administration and reporting on user activity.
  • Improve refresh speeds and the reliability of data retrieval, integrations, and report rendering.

"Great Reporting Tool That Continues to Improve"
5/5
What do you like best about Solver?

Solver has made reporting much easier for our finance team. The Excel-based platform is a huge advantage because it feels familiar and allows us to build reports quickly without a big learning curve. Administration is also easy to manage, whether it's metadata, security, or business rules.

The platform has been extremely reliable, and the support team is always responsive when we need help.

What I'm most excited about right now is where Solver is headed. Connector Studio looks like it will make it much easier to bring in data from other systems like UKG and Ramp, giving us reporting capabilities we don't have today. I'm also excited about the AI features and AI agents they're developing to help streamline reporting and analysis. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Solver?

There really isn't much to dislike. Like any software, there are new features to learn from time to time, but the support team has always been helpful and quick to answer questions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Solver Ascend 2025 Training/Conference"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Solver?

The solver training on Monday and Tuesday was very informative, relevant, and useful. I learned new things that I will use for Solver report creation, that I didn't learn during the implementation phase for Indiana Health Centers, Inc. The support that was provided during the training was very helpful in understanding the benefits and use of Solver reporting. The general sessions provided information that will allow me to continue to maximize the benefits of Solver. Prior to the training/conference I didn't understand the use or benefit of CoPilot. Overall a great learning opportunity. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Solver?

The only dislike was that a couple of the general sessions were not what I expected based on the information provided for each session. One specific session was on Solver and Profromas. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Solver Automates Monthly Reporting with Seamless Accounting Integration"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Solver?

Solver has been great for automating our reporting. We were able to connect Solver to our accounting system, so our reports now update automatically each month. After we set up the reports and linked the systems, sending out the monthly reports became a quick and straightforward process. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Solver?

There aren’t many downsides, but our company’s data can be a bit tricky and comes with a few caveats. Solver works best when your data is straightforward. That’s not to say it can’t handle what you need with more complicated data, it can. It just takes more time to build out the reports. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Drag-and-Drop Reporting That Empowers the Whole Team"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Solver?

Before Solver we used a reporting software that you needed to know how to code to truly make reports or even understand the logic behind them. Now with Solver writing reports is so easy that over half the team has written one at one point or another. The UI just makes it so easy to drag and drop and then add filters. We still have the superuser experts to help smooth everything but almost anyone can get the bones in place now. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Solver?

I dislike that not all features are available in all screens and how shallow some features are. For example, if you run a report you can then drilldown and see the data behind the number. You can rename it and open another. But there is not a feature to auto-name new drilldowns. For a platform based on efficiency its an unnecessary step. During month end it could save 5-10 minutes at least in variance analysis. But to go a step further, you can't rename those drilldowns if you open the report via the report archive. So you have a feature in one spot but not another. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Centralized, Scalable Financial Reporting with Easy Drill-Down in Solver"
5/5
What do you like best about Solver?

For NIJC, the main benefits of Solver are:

Centralized financial reporting – Solver connects directly to QuickBooks Online, reducing the need to manually export, combine, and update multiple Excel files.

Departmental budget monitoring – program leads can review their budgets, actual expenses, and variances without relying on Finance to send a new Excel file every month.

Drill-down capability – users can move from summarized financial information to transaction-level detail when investigating a variance.

Scalability – as NIJC adds programs, grants, cost centers, and reporting requirements, Solver provides a more scalable reporting structure than maintaining an increasing number of standalone Excel workbooks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Solver?

One limitation we have experienced with Solver is the lack of full automation around report periods. We created budgets by cost center and wanted the report template to automatically populate each cost center’s start and end dates from a separate reference table. Our goal was to make the report fully automated, so users would not need to manually select the start and end dates every time they run it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Familiar for Excel Pros—An Easy Start with Solver"
4/5
What do you like best about Solver?

I am new to Solver as I just started a new position at a new company. What I really like about it is I don't feel like I am starting from scratch because I am a CPA by trade and have worked in Excel for decades Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Solver?

I am not overly familiar with the product yet as I am still new to it (please see my previous response), but the one thing I can think of is my first impression of hearing about it and seeing it was it almost seems a bit redundant? Of course, I know there is more functionality, particularly connecting various platforms. But my first thought when I started here a couple weeks ago was why do we need this when we have BC 365 / Power BI, Excel, etc.? Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Excel-Based Reporting and Planning Made Easy, with Responsive Support"
4/5
What do you like best about Solver?

What I like best about Solver is the Excel-based reporting and planning environment. It allows us to combine ERP data with budget and forecast inputs from project owners and budget managers in a format that is familiar to users and relatively easy to maintain.

I also appreciate that Solver continues to add functionality, such as Ad Hoc Reporting and Copilot features, and that its product and support teams are generally responsive when we raise questions or issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Solver?

There are some limitations in interface options and workflow functionality. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"User-Friendly Solver with Handy Ad Hoc Reporting"
4/5
What do you like best about Solver?

I have only recently started using Solver within the last few months, but I really like how user friendly it has been compared to historical systems I have used. I also really enjoy the ad hoc reporting tool for when I just need a quick data pull. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Solver?

I dislike how small the reporting window is when running reports in the web version - I wish I could shrink up the top portion to extend the report higher in my web browser. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Honest Solver Review"
4/5
What do you like best about Solver?

The ability to share reports is helpful as well as the reports being excel based. As well as being able to refresh the data as needed instead of waiting for a timed refresh helps with report accuracy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Solver?

I wish there was an excel add in so we did not have to go through the Solver website in order to make the reports. Depending on the reports, building a report through Solver can be difficult at times to make sure you are choosing the correct parameters. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Collaborative Culture and Excel-Based Reporting Make Solver Shine"
4/5
What do you like best about Solver?

The culture among users and staff around sharing ideas and continuously improving the product is a major plus for Solver. The ability to generate reports in a familiar Microsoft Excel environment is also very beneficial, since Excel is the most common way that most organizations communicate data both internally and externally. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Solver?

In my experience, the AI “Help” tool isn’t very helpful. I’ve used it extensively, and the only output I can reliably count on is custom period functions. Beyond that, the AI tool usually just sends me in circles and doesn’t get me to a clear answer. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
