It’s fairly straightforward to build an autonomous AI phone-call agent, including real-time function calling and call transfers. I’m also impressed by the flow-building UX; it feels polished and easy to work with, especially thanks to features like batch calling and integrations with Twilio and Telnyx.

So far, I haven’t disliked anything about it. It has great features, and for me it’s been working well.

Retell AI is solving some of the key edge problems in voice AI, such as latency, unnatural pauses, and low reliability. Since we use calling agents for several use cases, it works great for us. Now it feels like we’re talking to a real human sitting behind the call, not a bot. Also, with the use of voice mapping, it’s easier to sound like a real person based on different geographic locations and the tones people use there.

This is the standout feature. Conversations feel shockingly natural — quick responses, excellent interruption handling, and smooth turn-taking. It’s currently one of the most human-like experiences you can get in production voice agents.
Realistic voices + strong interruption handling
Voices (especially when paired with ElevenLabs or similar) sound very natural, and the agent handles people cutting in or talking over it without breaking.

**What do you like best about Retell AI?**

I love how there are not many companies that allow users to do what Retell does. By this, I mean I have used the tool so much that I can literally create a functional AI Voice Agent/ Receptionist for anyone or any business in as little as 30 minutes.

**What do you dislike about Retell AI?**

I understand you're still refining things on your end, but the phone number verification process was a bit confusing and long. As a small business owner, I understand that it takes time for processes to be refined, so this was nothing big enough to deter me from using RetellAI. 

Still, I also want to state that I have already created phone numbers (and will soon create separate accounts) for about 5 of our clients, with more on the way soon, and it would be nice to know that the phone number verification process is quicker now than it was earlier this year.

**What problems is Retell AI solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is solving the need to have a call center or front office receptionist for starters. It is also cool to have a knowledge base that you can train an agent on, and then speak to that agent, as you would with any other person, to retrieve the exact information you are looking for when you need it.

**What do you like best about Retell AI?**

How realistic the conversation's are, the voices are truely great.  I useed SignalWire, and Trilio, and Retell is the best as far as I am concerned!  The Support team is 24/7 and are equally amazing.  Highly recommend and I don't recommend many products.  I don't have time, and most aren't worth a review.  I never heard of Retell, but I am glad I stumbled upon them and now I'll help promote them to anyone looking for a truely human voice agent.

Nothing,  great product! Once you get your agent dialed in, it works amazing!  could use more Voices?  But I found the ones that work for my business, with the selection they have.  Too many and you spend days looking for a perfect voice.  I think I like the less is more, I know it's faster and easier the way you have it now.

It's helping me solve my clients problems.  And doing it 24/7 and I can have a life while it answers calls and prequalifies the callers I get.  Most need an answering system because leads will call the "Next Guy" if they don't answer when they call.

The conversations don’t feel robotic like most AI calling tools. The voice responses sound natural, the response time is fast, and it can handle real conversations smoothly without awkward pauses.

I also liked how easy it was to build and customize call flows based on different business needs. Most of the important features are already available within the platform itself, so there’s very little extra configuration or setup needed compared to other tools. The integrations and automation features save a lot of manual work, especially for customer support and follow-up calls. Overall, it feels like a practical, complete, and reliable platform rather than just another AI demo tool.

while the platform is powerful, some advanced customizations and workflow debugging can take time to fully understand in the beginning. There’s a learning curve when trying to fine-tune conversations for more complex use cases.

It is solving the problem of handling repetitive and time-consuming business calls manually. Instead of relying completely on human agents for every inbound or outbound call, the platform automates conversations using realistic AI voice agents that can answer questions, schedule appointments, qualify leads, and handle support requests efficiently. 

For me, this has been beneficial because it reduces manual workload, saves operational time, and ensures calls are handled quickly without long wait times. Another big advantage is that most of the required features, integrations, testing tools, and automation capabilities are already available within the platform, so we did not have to spend extra time on heavy configurations or multiple third-party setups. It made the overall implementation faster, smoother, and much easier to manage.

Retell AI makes it incredibly easy to build 
production-ready AI voice agents. The webhook 
integration with n8n is seamless, the LLM 
playground makes testing fast, the Knowledge 
Base feature is a game changer for FAQ handling, 
and the voice quality is natural enough for 
real clinic reception use. I built a fully 
functional AI dental receptionist with 8 
functions, after-hours mode, and GHL CRM 
integration in under two weeks.

The LLM chat playground does not save 
conversation history, which makes iterative 
testing harder. Pricing transparency for 
Knowledge Base usage could be clearer. 
Would also love more built-in error logging

Once you can figure out the interface, it is super simple to use. The voices sound very natural, and the intelligence layer is pretty stunning. AI does a fantastic job of capturing context, and if you take the time to set up the after-call analysis features properly, you get incredibly rich details.

It can get expensive. If you are getting a high number of calls and using an advanced AI model to interpret and guide the conversation, expect to pay upwards of $1 per call for 4 - 5 minutes.
