**What do you like best about Retell AI?**

It’s fairly straightforward to build an autonomous AI phone-call agent, including real-time function calling and call transfers. I’m also impressed by the flow-building UX; it feels polished and easy to work with, especially thanks to features like batch calling and integrations with Twilio and Telnyx.

**What do you dislike about Retell AI?**

So far, I haven’t disliked anything about it. It has great features, and for me it’s been working well.

**What problems is Retell AI solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Retell AI is solving some of the key edge problems in voice AI, such as latency, unnatural pauses, and low reliability. Since we use calling agents for several use cases, it works great for us. Now it feels like we’re talking to a real human sitting behind the call, not a bot. Also, with the use of voice mapping, it’s easier to sound like a real person based on different geographic locations and the tones people use there.

Retell AI makes it incredibly easy to build and deploy conversational voice agents. The function calling system integrates seamlessly with external tools like n8n and Airtable, allowing complex workflows such as appointment booking, caller identification, and lead management to work in real time during calls. The test interface directly in the browser is a great time saver.

**What do you dislike about Retell AI?**

he documentation for connecting third-party phone providers via SIP trunking could be more detailed, especially for beginners. Some advanced configuration steps require prior knowledge of SIP protocols. A more guided setup wizard for Twilio integration would be a great improvement.

We are building an AI receptionist for a dental clinic that handles appointment booking, cancellations, and rescheduling automatically via phone. One area that could improve is the onboarding documentation for more advanced enterprise use cases. Unbelievable sub-second latency and human-like conversation flow

I've tested several AI voice agent platforms, and Retell AI blows the competition out of the water when it comes to speed and conversational realism. The sub-second response latency completely eliminates that awkward "robotic pause" that ruins most AI calls. Callers frequently have no idea they are speaking to an AI agent because the turn-taking and interruption handling are so smooth. If you are building high-volume inbound or outbound setups, Retell is the definitive infrastructure layer to use. High reliability, great developer flexibility, and solid uptime. Highly recommended!

The platform is powerful enough for advanced automation workflows but still intuitive enough to get started without deep engineering experience. The voice quality, workflow flexibility, integrations, and ability to create realistic conversational agents for real business use cases are what stand out most.

**What do you dislike about Retell AI?**

The platform can have a bit of a learning curve when publishing and troubleshooting live agent behavior, especially for first-time users. Some debugging steps and audio configuration options could be clearer, and more guided setup documentation would make onboarding smoother. That said, once you understand the workflow, it becomes much easier to use effectively.

What I like best about Retell AI is how fast and flexible it is for building real-time voice AI agents. The call quality, latency, and conversational flow are impressive compared to many other platforms I tested. I also like how easy it is to integrate with automation tools like n8n, GoHighLevel, and OpenAI to create appointment booking and customer support systems.

**What do you dislike about Retell AI?**

One thing I dislike is that advanced workflows and prompt tuning can still require a lot of testing and experimentation, especially for production-ready voice agents. The pricing can also become expensive when scaling or doing many test calls during development. More beginner-friendly templates and debugging tools would also help new users.

**What do you like best about Retell AI?**

The pay-as-you-go pricing is the biggest win for me. As a
solo founder running an AI receptionist agency in Auckland,
I do not want to be locked into big monthly fees before I
have proven the product to my clients. Retell lets me only
pay for what my agents actually use, which keeps cashflow
predictable and lowers the risk on each new build.

It is also genuinely easy to use. I built my first
multilingual agent (English, Mandarin, Korean) in a single
weekend with no coding background. The customisation is
deep too, voice speed, pause length, different voice
models, custom functions for booking and transferring
calls, and an attached knowledge base. Plenty of
flexibility for the different industries I sell to.

**What do you dislike about Retell AI?**

Adding pronunciations is painful. I have to enter each word
one at a time, and for businesses with NZ place names,
foreign customer names, or industry jargon, it becomes a
huge time sink. A bulk upload or CSV import would save
hours per agent build.

The other thing is the lack of a public voice example URL.
I cannot link to a live demo of my agent on my website or
in marketing materials without first recording a call
myself, then uploading and hosting the audio. A
Retell-hosted shareable audio link would make showcasing
the product to prospects far easier.

**What problems is Retell AI solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The problem I am solving for my clients is simple: small
businesses in New Zealand lose money every day because they
cannot answer the phone when they are busy with customers
or after hours. A real human receptionist costs $4,000 to
$5,000 a month in NZ which is out of reach for most small
operators. Voicemail does not cut it either, around 85
percent of callers never leave a message, they just call
the next business on Google.

Retell lets me build a multilingual AI receptionist that
picks up every call 24/7 for a tiny fraction of that cost.
My first client is a car valet business in Auckland and the
AI handles bookings, takes messages, and transfers urgent
calls to the owner. He no longer loses customers to missed
calls during busy detailing days.

For me personally, Retell removes the technical overhead of
building from scratch. I can stand up a new client agent in
48 hours, attach a knowledge base, set up the booking
integration with Cal.com, and connect a Twilio number. The
multilingual support is also a huge win for Auckland where
many small business owners deal with Chinese and Korean
speaking customers daily. Without Retell I would either
need a much bigger dev team or a much longer sales cycle,
neither of which fits a solo founder building from zero.

Well there are some bugs, when I use it for building agent, the workflow was made and when i clicked a function or smth. all the workflow was gone! also there is no straight line when it comes to the pipelining. it is always a bit moved to off side, as a person who has OCD i didnt like that and it does bug me. Sometimes when i am dragging it as a pan, it directly starts to select rather than moving to change the POV. they should fix it.

It does save my time from coding a whole new thing, the framework and the idea is absolutely well executed, the built in phone number setting thing is what i loved the most about it. other than that it is benefiting in my college projects.

The ultra-low latency and smoothness of the conversations are impressive — patients don't realize they are talking to an AI agent. The integration with ElevenLabs for voices and compatibility with Telnyx for Swiss local numbers make deployment in a medical office truly viable. The dashboard is clean and real-time call monitoring is a real plus for the agency.

The documentation lacks depth on certain edge cases (handling long silences, multiple interruptions). Pricing can become high as call minutes scale. There are some sporadic bugs in detecting end of turn in French — the English language clearly remains a priority in optimizations.

In our agency, we use Retell AI to automate the management of incoming calls in medical offices. The central problem: medical secretaries are overwhelmed, and patients call up to 30 times before reaching someone.
