I use Frends for all our integration needs because it offers an easy and modern way to integrate with any kind of endpoint. I love the superior error handling and debugging features; building sufficient error handling was very time consuming with our previous integration platform, but now it requires almost no time at all. Good debugging helps in error situations and aids in development. It's also very user friendly. I appreciate that they keep the system modern by adding new features, like AI helpers, which are useful for adding custom code. I love using Frends because of its simplicity and ease of use. The BPMN canvas is a standout feature for me as it allows for straightforward communication about business issues instead of coding problems since it is easily understandable by others. I also really value their AI approach, which speeds up development and delivery, and the ability to create my own MCP endpoints. The flexibility to build custom tasks in C# when needed is fantastic. Frends makes building integrations more efficient and the visibility and control over processes are also big pluses. Plus, starting up with Frends was incredibly easy, as I could get going within 5 minutes, and the pricing structure is transparent, which is great for setting up business cases and determining ROI quickly. I think Frends' API Management isn't as mature as some competitors yet, and the UX can be a bit unhandy during development. For instance, when writing C# code for data transformation, I can't test it on-the-fly; I have to run the process. Also, being able to mock a test would be a great enhancement, as it would allow the creation of a test harness for implementations without using actual connections. It is perfect integration tool for a low code person like me, I get the coding help from able Frends consultants (props for Riku!) if needed. You see right away what should happen and what is happening. I haven't had time to review/use the new AI features but I'm attending the Hackathon to find out more. Sky is the limit! I appreciate how Frends enables seamless integration between OnPremise and cloud environments, making it easier to transition legacy systems to the cloud. I feel that the authentication options in Frends could benefit from more variety. This limitation may restrict certain integrations or the flexibility of security protocols, potentially complicating its use in diverse environments or requiring additional workarounds to meet specific access control requirements. The best thing about Frends is the background of the product being in Finland. They offer good security and a very well scalable product. The customer support is also always there to help you out and they offered a good amount of help during the implementation phase.

We have had more and more of our customer to be integrated via Frends. We have almost been able to ditch all our home-made ETLs with Frends. And it has been an awesome ride so far! We have not had any capability issues or downtime has been pretty much close to zero. This all helps us to trust Frends, and forget about painful data integrations between different databases. Some parts of the longer error logs you might get, when you are running processes with thousands of rows of data, are still pretty much unreadable – then again, this might be something that we could tune in our process. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What I like most about Frends is the balance between low-code development and the ability to build advanced integrations when needed. I love how powerful Frends is. It offers good performance and uptime, which are crucial for our needs. I appreciate the easiness of creating processes and integrations, especially since we work with BPMN processes. This makes it much easier for IT and business stakeholders to collaborate. Monitoring is also straightforward; it’s easy to follow up and see the progress of processes and schedule processes. I want more and better possibilities for testing processes or parts of processes. Frends has them on their roadmap but at 0% progression. I've found that once we got used to Frends, it became quite easy to build integrations. I particularly like how we can expose an API or call other systems using ready-made tasks provided by Frends. It's definitely much easier to use these ready-made tasks than having to code everything from scratch. I find that you still need to know C# and JSON pretty well, so it's not no code platform. It's not even the lowest low code platform. I would appreciate needing less coding. The UI looks quite good but is very basic and even naive in some cases. For example, when you change the name of a variable, you have to change it everywhere manually. It would be nice if changing it once applied everywhere automatically. Also, the UI is all black and white by default, and while you can set colors, it would be nice if different tasks and UI elements were colored differently by default. It’s an iPaaS that works very smoothly when developing new integrations. I also like that the tasks are “open source,” which means I can easily develop new features and implement them.

I wouldn’t say I dislike anything, but I have noticed a few small gaps in functionality in areas that are fairly common in the IT industry—for example, standardized SOAP handling.
