Then got a call from Frends and it sounded heavenly good. Of course, as a Finn I would not believe anything I could not see with my own eyes, so we had a PoC with Frends, duplicating existing integration. One that took the existing vendor more than a week to build. Frends did it in an afternoon, one afternoon. So we changed to Frends and have no regrets. This year I have heard more and more our business partners have started to use Frends with their integrations. I think this has good momentum and wish I could buy their stock. **What do you dislike about Frends?** There is no reverse engineering tool, if I have a table I cannot just "bring" it into Frends. But maybe that is more a dedicated EDL tool thing, Frends is much more than that. We just want to use as little tools as possible. And if this EDL-feature starts to bug too much, I can create a script for it. So definately not a show stopper. **Recommendations to others considering Frends:** do a proof of concept. Hides complexity without compromising away functionality and extensibility. Development, test and production all run on an agent server making it easy to build and deploy without having to set up a build environment first (this can also be a downside when it comes to testing. See dislikes below). APIs are built the same way as integration processes making it easy to build APIs. Built on .NET which is a good fit for us. Good support. It's possible to keep all our data inside EU jurisdiction. Good logging. **What do you dislike about Frends?** UI doesn't scale well when you have hundreds of processes. Access control is lacking making it difficult to let outside teams participate in development. No easy way to connect external monitoring software. It can be hard to test and debug parts of a process. Some kind of mocking functionality would be a nice addition. **What problems is Frends solving and how is that benefiting you?** Enabling us to create robust integrations between our systems which is key to succeeding with our digital transformation. ### 10. It seems fast and quite easily scalable and built components are more or less re-usable. **What do you dislike about Frends?** It's missing some of the most useful functions such as reprocess and re-submit. Even Ediserver from the 80s' had these and it should not be a separate manual task to manage it. Just ticking the instance and clicking reprocess should do the trick. Search functionality is missing conditional search option (not, and, or etc.) Finding a needle from the haystack would get a lot easier with these options, not to mention generating proper report exports. Browsing through instances prom a single process and selecting "Save all as csv" only exports the ones visible in the view. If I want to export more, I need to hammer down the "Show more" option and then export. As a power user I would sometimes need to browse through masses of data, in order to find irregularities. With the UI this cannot be done, but possibly in the backend by sudoing and awking the hell out of the instances. Have not seen this yet, so don't know. **What problems is Frends solving and how is that benefiting you?** Any large enough business pretty much cannot go without a proper IPaaS, so there's that. When the task is clear enough, implementing it in FRENDS seems quite fast. ### 11. Tasks and code blocks can be tested, created and modified with an IDE like Visual Studio. Created, modified and fixed tasks can be distributed with GitHub for other developers. **What do you dislike about Frends?** Not all of the existing tasks do not have explanations of how to use them. Creating and modifying tasks with an IDE is not instructed for someone who isn't familiar with GitHub and IDEs. The how-to articles in frends documentation are good but only directional. So even if the UI is easy to start using, you still need to have a good understanding of what are you trying to do. **What problems is Frends solving and how is that benefiting you?** It does not need a developer bought outside of the firm.
