**What do you like best about Tekmetric?**

The reports, ease of use, and mostly the ability to make suggestions and see that they are being considered and implemented. Plus now with the built in CRM I can have everything I need in one place.

**What do you dislike about Tekmetric?**

Since we’re a transmission shop, we use the canned jobs and sell the transmission as a complete unit. For inventory purposes, it would be helpful to track the cost and the specific parts we used to build it, without generating a huge parts list for the customer. Ideally, the customer-facing view would still show only the transmission itself.

**What problems is Tekmetric solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We can now more easily track tech productivity. 
It has easy use of reporting and quicker contacting of our customers more efficiently with tek messaging for approvals and pick ups. Also now helps with reminders and appointments.

**What do you like best about Tekmetric?**

I love how Tekmetric's inventory feature helps us by ensuring we don't order more parts than necessary and redirects us to a part that is in stock when building an invoice. The canned jobs feature is huge for us because it enables us to build invoices quickly and efficiently, cutting the invoice-making time in half since we do many of the same jobs. I also enjoy being able to connect with the customer quickly and professionally. Moreover, the initial setup was very easy and simple.

**What do you dislike about Tekmetric?**

As the owner, I'm always on the move and need to check invoices via phone, but I have to log into the web browser, which is kind of a pain. The app works great for my employees for building inspections, but I can't see everything I need on the app. It would be helpful to create or build an invoice on the app.

**What problems is Tekmetric solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tekmetric keeps my invoices and billing organized, simplifies parts ordering, and tracks inventory, preventing over-ordering. Canned jobs save time by halving the invoice creation process for repeated tasks.

**What do you like best about Tekmetric?**

We love how streamlined everything is. Dvi’s has helped us grow our business by 30% since we started with Tekmetric. We were with Mitchell 1 for 7 years, and I was hesitant to change, but the only regret I have is not doing it sooner. We’ve been with Tekmetric for 7 months now. We’re a small mom-and-pop auto repair shop in Willow Spring, NC.

**What do you dislike about Tekmetric?**

There isn’t much of a downside. Nothing is perfect, and there’s always room for improvement. but nothing stands out enough for me that i couldnt figure out.

Quick DVIs, and they offer finance options. Everything is sent directly to the customer.

**What do you like best about Tekmetric?**

I appreciate that Tekmetric is customizable to suit any task, which is valuable for both me and the techs in the shop. If something isn't working well, I can adjust it to meet our needs. Tekmetric helps solve communication issues by clearly showing what work is completed and what needs to be done. It keeps all our records in one easy place, eliminating the need for paper and simplifying data storage. I also like that using Tekmetric is simple and straightforward, especially compared to our previous software, Reesa. The setup was quick, taking about 15 minutes, and there are plenty of videos explaining how to use the platform. Overall, Tekmetric works great for everything we need, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Tekmetric does not have any issues or flaws.

**What do you like best about Tekmetric?**

I like how Tekmetric really takes care of a lot of the communication for me, which is a big thing since I'm a one-man shop the automations of the user interface such as completion of work and parts notifications make is super easy to follow process. The automated features that handle communication with my customers, like when the car is done or sending off an estimate, are super helpful to me. I also appreciate how easy it was to initially set up Tekmetric for my shop. The pricing is moderate but the features and ease of use make it more then worth the price. My favorite feature is parts integrations with one click ordering for repair orders simplifying the process

**What do you dislike about Tekmetric?**

I wish that I had access to the labor guide without opening a repair order.

What I like most about Tekmetric is how user-friendly it is. Bonus points for including many features that other shop management software charges extra for. all the integrations make running a shop so much easier.

to be completely honest i have been using tekmetric for a little over 2 years and cant complain about a single thing. when there is something id like changes they are always there to make the adjustments

Because it’s Windows-based, the software is easy to use with point-and-click, which saves me time.

There are a few areas I’m not able to configure because of its limitations, but I was told those may be supported in the near future.

I don’t currently have any issues with the software. That said, I’m sometimes surprised when an update comes through, and I’m also surprised by how often it ends up being a valuable improvement that helps with my day-to-day use of the software.

The system can feel a bit slow at times, and certain workflows take more clicks than necessary. It would be helpful to have more customization and quicker navigation between repair orders, estimates, and invoices.

What I like best about Tekmetric is the Digital Vehicle Inspection (DVI) workflow, which allows us to bridge the communication gap with customers by providing transparent, visual proof of complex diagnostics like TDI coolant restrictions. Having implemented it before, I value its cloud-based agility and the way its real-time shop management board eliminates the 'bottleneck' at the service desk, allowing technicians to focus on precision repairs while the system handles parts tracking and labor margins seamlessly.

While Tekmetric excels in workflow, its closed API ecosystem and high barrier to entry for custom integrations make it difficult for tech-forward users to implement advanced AI solutions or custom automation without significant overhead. For those of us looking to integrate LLMs for diagnostic assistance or automated customer follow-ups, the limited 'sandbox' environment and restrictive data access prevent us from fully leveraging our shop’s data to its highest potential. Furthermore, the lack of granular customization in multi-step labor procedures and a more robust inventory core-tracking system often creates manual workarounds that counteract the platform's otherwise streamlined cloud efficiency

Tekmetric solves the critical issue of operational fragmentation by unifying the entire shop lifecycle—from lead generation to final invoice—into a single, cloud-based source of truth. By integrating marketing tools and automated follow-ups, it helps generate high-quality leads and re-engages customers with declined services, ensuring a consistent car count. For someone like me who has implemented the system before, the biggest benefit is the centralized workflow control; it allows for real-time tracking of every technician's progress, which, when paired with the DVI, builds unparalleled customer trust. However, the true next step for this platform would be opening its API, which would allow us to connect these marketing leads and diagnostic data into AI-driven engines to automate personalized service recommendations and optimize shop throughput even further.

**What do you like best about Tekmetric?**

The system is very easy to use.  I love how detail and all the information it will gather. Customer Support is really great.  I love working with their team.  Also, Love that you can go to chat and get answers also and it is in a very timely matter. They are working daily on adding more options everyday.  Love this software more and more each day.

**What do you dislike about Tekmetric?**

The least is the accounting side reporting  but I work around that.  It show who went into the RO# and when but doesn't always show what they did. The accounting side in a whole could also just be update. But I believe as of day they are working on soloving this problem.

**What problems is Tekmetric solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We went to Tekmetric to help solve the problem of know where our cost and overhead was going and keeping better track of job.  It benifet the fact  the accounting dept and service can work much closer together and see where thing are going wrong and can get them fixed. It helps us do tech commissions better. That it is a cloud base software also.  The owner and account manager can now stay up to date when not in the office.

We like the ability use a phone app for technicians to conduct digital vehicle inspections.

**What do you dislike about Tekmetric?**

They are constantly making updates, however, sometimes those updates create unforeseen issues in other areas. The glitches can be troublesome in the middle of a busy day. 

**What problems is Tekmetric solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tekmetric is streamlining so many processes in my shop and improving efficiency for both my service advisor and my technicians. Technicians are able to import photos for a digital inspection easily, track their progress on a job, and communicate diagnostics with the service advisor easily. My service advisor can easily build estimates for work, check parts availability, and communicate directly with our customers all through the system.

**What do you like best about Tekmetric?**

I find Tekmetric to be a very useful all-in-one platform for managing my auto repair shops. What stands out to me the most is how open source it is and the number of integrations it has built in, which is more than any other shop management system I've used. I can connect it with programs like my Repair Pal, CARFAX loyalty shop program, and moto visuals for dvis. These integrations make Tekmetric incredibly valuable for me.

**What do you dislike about Tekmetric?**

The DVIs should definitely be improved. I've had multiple clients say that they didn't know where to click to see photos or the DVIs. It should be easy for our clients to immediately open the text message with the estimate and see the photos right there next to the written estimate. The data migration process wasn't the most perfect. They were able to transfer most of my data from Shopmonkey, except for the main thing being mileage.

Tekmetric serves as my all-in-one platform, managing everything from accounting to texting clients from my landline. It's extremely useful for complete auto repair shop management across two locations.

I use Tekmetric for my business and it has helped me communicate better with my customers. I like Tekmetric's mobile services, tech profiles, texting, digital inspections, and job approvals, which cut down on my time spent on the phone or in the shop. The setup was simple, and I had no issues.

**What do you dislike about Tekmetric?**

I have found Tekmetric needs to show more OEM parts in both quick jobs and look ups in the side bar. Specifically in filters, we focus less on aftermarket parts. I also would prefer more customizable estimates/invoices, sometimes we have customers confused on pricing or the approval process. When some customers use the text approval they are confused on how to select jobs and can't figure out how to go to the next screen.

I use Tekmetric to improve communication with customers and reduce time on the phone or in the shop with its mobile services tech profiles, texting, digital inspections, and job approvals.

**What do you like best about Tekmetric?**

I really appreciate how user-friendly this software is. As a service advisor, it helps me make the most of both customer and vehicle information. I can add detailed notes about the customer and the car, including both internal and external comments. The inspection layout is also very intuitive for customers, making it easy for me to attach videos and pictures. I also like how I can organize my tickets by label or RO number, which is highly customizable. Another feature I value is the ability to view the job board for technicians, which lets me plan more effectively and assign vehicles to technicians who could use additional hours.

**What do you dislike about Tekmetric?**

The only feature I wish Tekmetric offered is an alarm or reminder that could be set for each individual ticket. I believe this would greatly help with workflow, especially in a busy shop like ours.

**What problems is Tekmetric solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This software has been instrumental in fully digitizing all of my repair orders. It allows me to text customers directly, and the ability to build accurate estimates using canned jobs and the parts matrix feature is outstanding. Being able to shop for and order parts within the same platform is a great convenience. The labeling system keeps my entire team informed about the exact status of each vehicle. Having Carfax integrated, along with a place to input any and all useful information about customers and vehicles, ensures that everything I need is easily accessible. Additionally, it helps me track sales and, as an advisor, shows me where my performance stands.

I like that Tekmetric keeps everything streamlined and easy to use at our auto repair shop. The organizational aspects are great, especially the job board, as it lets everyone see what jobs need to be done and what parts need to be ordered. It also gives us a visual of what customers have their vehicles in the shop, enabling us to serve them more easily.

I would like options in the repair orders to create headers for each job category that we have at our shop. I would also like more options to organize ROs to remind me of customers who need to be contacted.

**What do you like best about Tekmetric?**

I love the constant user interface updates and improvements that makes the user experience better and better. Integrations with other vendors makes quoting and ordering parts easy. The Tekmetric support team is very attentive and makes sure the problem is addressed. The loss of service is rarely an issue compared to other big name DMS.

**What do you dislike about Tekmetric?**

Estimated tax shown on each job line on the invoice. This is misleading to the customer.

Tekmetric makes it easy for customers to schedule appointments online and see the shop’s current availability.

**What do you like best about Tekmetric?**

I use Tekmetric on daily basis. Tekmetric has a very user-friendly interface, with color coded labels to easily check up on work, parts and job status. I like how easy customer information is visible without having to navigate through different tabs to give the customer a call and it even has a built in texting system that enables an alternative communication method to customer who chose to not receive calls. In Tekmetric you can add canned jobs to make ticket writing faster and it even comes with some pre-built smart jobs which will even put in the necessary parts for the job. Tekmetric can be easily integrate to other applications that enhance your service writer-customer experience.

My only complain about Tekmetric is that while looking up parts it does not give you a way to see some of the vehicle-specific specs whether is a FWD or AWD, 4, 6 or 8 Cyl. or transmission type so you have to close the parts screen and go back to the vehicle tab to check all that info.

Tekmetric addresses many challenges in the auto repair management, one of them being the workflow efficiency. Back in the day you'd have to hand write a ticket, then hand it to your tech then he'd have to hand it back to you and so forth. With Tekmetric it completely eliminates that and it improves speed and turn around time. I simply write the ticket on Tekmetric, the tech receives it on his tablet, and once he is done I receive a notification and continue with the next steps.  
It also helps with job tracking, technicians can simply see if all parts are now in inventory or if we are waiting on them, keeping them from wasting time starting a job we are not ready for. 
For managers it helps them keep track of shop[ performance, identify trends and make decisions to optimize business.

I love that Tekmetric allows for office staff and technicians can see the same work order without showing too much information.  Allowing them to add notes and love that we now have pop ups for all updates as they are complete. Very neat feature.  They are always updating and adding new helpful features. We are a lot more efficient by being more streamlined.  We used to have drawings of coaches and the papers would get lost or damaged.  Tried binders and the same thing happened with those too.  Needless to say this is a everyday must have!

**What do you dislike about Tekmetric?**

The least helpful thing I have found so far are 2  different features. 
1) Your customer must be checked as Eligible for AR in order to push over... I'm not entirely sure why they wouldnt be but all of ours are I feel it should be reversed it should auto be checked and uncheck it if they are not.  There are more customers that are going to pay than not.  When you have several people in the office and not following after yourself its hard to get everyone on board.  With checking this one box, that puts a dead holt on transferring transactions over to AR.
2) Applying 1 check to multiple transactions.  I hate that when a customer wants a paid transaction I can enter it to show its paid, but then I have to void it because if they have 2 invoices it will show the same check number with a different amt and not blend in the end having to reenter correctly directly into QB.  Maybe its the third party program but I feel there should be some way of making this work..

The capability to receive written/digital authorization is great for legal compliance. I also appreciate being able to collect final invoices remotely through the credit card processing app. Despite a learning curve, we feel confident in teaching new employees to use it quickly.

I really do enjoy the calendar feature. It's great how Auto Office and Steer link into my calendar, letting customers place their needs or appointments directly into it. Sometimes it's just perfect because I don't have to do anything to adjust or confirm; everything is done correctly, eliminating the need to call the customer to fine-tune the appointment. When customers can make their own appointments and leave comments, I can read all the comments, reviews, needs, and appointments when I get to work in the morning. Within fifteen minutes, I handle anything that happened after hours and can start my day. This truly is valuable to me.

I would say that inventory is still a little bit cumbersome. There's times where I wish it was more integrated with the actual shops that I buy my inventory from.

I find the specific employee permissions for estimates lacking. I'd like more granular controls. I find the schedule function in Tekmetric really helpful as it acts like a desktop to keep my customers organized. I appreciate the service writing software because it has plenty of integration that streamlines parts and labor lookups, and with the latest updates, it includes fluid specs, transmission options, and specific info related to sourcing parts. The sidebar is great for fluid specs on differentials and transmissions. The integration to local shops is one of my favorites. I like the entry in invoices where I can manually control my markup and margins, allowing me to split things and aid my customers in their repair journey. The history feature is key for seeing the entire history of a vehicle, which aids the diagnostic process. The labor times are consistent with what my technicians expect, which is a plus. Overall, it’s user-friendly and lightweight, making it the best software I've used in the auto industry. I even joke that I'd recommend it to animals when they start driving!

**What do you dislike about Tekmetric?**

I'd like to see something like a quick-quote system to give fast estimates in cases where I'm on the phone and a general price is the deciding factor to turning a phone call into footsteps. Other than that, just a few tweaks needed in the system here and there, like Fords having a 3.5L Aspirated and Turbo options for the same vehicle, labor times get a little wonky in these splits.

We changed from Vast to Tekmetric about a year ago. We researched, reviewed, and sampled several different applications for our POS, including Shop Monkey, Mitchell, Vast Online, and Auto Leap, among others. We chose vast in the end because we could make it our own program, and that's exactly what we did. With the excellent reporting, we could accurately track all the necessary metrics. With the integrated digital inspections, we saved money by eliminating the need for AutoServe1 and tailored the inspections to meet our specific needs. We could then internally track inspections completed, send them to the customer, easily see the quality of the inspections, and continue to coach technicians and service advisors on expectations. This was much easier with Tekmetric than with AutoServe. We could easily adjust the parts matrices to ensure proper margins to increase profits. With the built-in labor guide, it's easy to check labor times. Simply click to view the labor guide in Tekmetric, and if you have Mitchell1, you can also see and compare labor times. Customer history, scheduled maintenance history, and CarFax are all built-in, which makes life easy and ensures that all scheduled maintenance is quoted as necessary. With this and many other improvements, we are up nearly 30% year-over-year in sales average per store. So you can say for sure we are satisfied with the change.

I like the ability to look up parts and labor quickly to create estimates. Integration with Partstek, Repairlink and several other companies has made the program easier to work with. All of the included reports are awesome. They say "if you can't measure it, you can't manage it", and there are a lot of measurements included.

There is a steep learning curve because there is so much information to sift through and changing from an older style shop management system. Also, the inventory feature isn't my favorite. It looks easy on the surface, but it's not tracking all of my parts correctly.

We had a problem with the time it took between when the tech submitted their inspection/diagnosis findings and getting a quote together for the customer. This has made things much faster and easier. **What do you like best about Tekmetric?**

Tekmetric makes our shop run smoother and faster. The ability to track jobs, labor hours, and technician productivity in one place saves us time and eliminates confusion. It also helps present digital inspections and estimates to customers clearly, which increases trust and approval rates.

**What do you dislike about Tekmetric?**

What I dislike about Tekmetric is the limited integration with repair information platforms like ProDemand or AllData. Our technicians often need to switch between systems to look up labor times, wiring diagrams, or service procedures. A more seamless connection to those knowledge bases would save time, reduce errors, and make the workflow even smoother.

**What problems is Tekmetric solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tekmetric helps us centralize and organize every part of the repair process — from creating estimates to tracking technician hours, parts, and customer approvals. Before Tekmetric, it was easy for details to get lost between the front office and the shop floor. Now everything is transparent and updated in real time.

It solves communication gaps, improves workflow efficiency, and gives us better control over profitability by tracking KPIs like ARO, labor hours, and parts margins. The digital inspections and integrated customer texting also make it easier to build trust and get faster approvals.

**What do you like best about Tekmetric?**

There really is no BEST single feature we've noticed about Tekmetric. To our staff, the best feature is what we see as the heart of the package - the integrations. Everything works cohesively. The package scales up and down with our business needs. The interface is extremely user friendly on the surface and allows us to view our business from multiple angles to find our efficiencies as well as the areas we need to focus more attention on. Thankfully we haven't had to rely on customer support very much because the product has been easy to navigate and learn once we got through the initial on-boarding.

**What do you dislike about Tekmetric?**

Still trying to find a dislike. Tekmetric has exceeded all of our expectations. There are come quirks here and there but no major road blocks.

**What problems is Tekmetric solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are a new shop taking over for a business that operated from this location since 1981. Our biggest need is building trust with customers and the integrated DVI's and evidence based reporting with media files has been invaluable in our mission to earn the trust of our customer base.

**What do you like best about Tekmetric?**

Honestly this has been the easiest system to pick up and start using, and I've been trained on many different operating systems. The interface is straightforward and easy to navigate, I picked up the basics on the first day and learned all the nuances within a couple weeks. I am still amazed at how well other programs integrate into this system so everything works together. Little things like being able to write notes about the customer on their profile or being able to change the name on each phone number so you can add multiple phone numbers and know who is who helps so much. And it's been very reliable, I don't have to worry about "what's not working today?" like I did with other systems. The one time there was an issue due to outside internet influences, Tekmetric was on top of it and gave a notice that there could be internet issues but that they were working to fix it and things were fine again the next day. It's easy to use on my computer or on my phone when I need to upload media. And I LOVE the new notifications feature they just added! It has been a game changer for staying on top of repair orders because it instantly notifies me any time the technician or customer makes any updates to the RO. More shops should be using Tekmetric, I fully believe it's one of the reasons our shop and team are so successful. Having the tools and peace of mind Tekmetric gives us sets us up for success.

**What do you dislike about Tekmetric?**

The only thing that I would change, because I'm seriously impressed by how well everything works, is that you would only get a notification for a message if it was a customer you personally messaged. Right now it's set up so that there's a red notification any time any customer texts us, no matter which advisor texted them first. This means I constantly cannot clear that notification dot if it's not my customer and I don't want to open someone else's text thread, because then they don't realize that they have a message waiting. But on the plus side, I'm the one constantly letting my coworkers know there's a text message so it's not a total downside. Maybe just a personal preference because I like a clear screen free of notifications because I know I'm up to date and have checked everything myself.

Tekmetric added the notifications feature that has helped immensely with keeping up with repair orders.

**What do you like best about Tekmetric?**

I love how Tekmetric makes it easy to show customers what's wrong with their vehicles using pictures and videos, along with pre-canned procedures. The more you use it, the better it gets. I really appreciate the fluidity of communication between the repair technician, service writer, and the customer. It saves me a lot of time, allowing me to work faster and sell jobs more easily, resulting in more work being completed. Tekmetric is very easy to set up and super easy to use. On a recommendation scale, if I could score higher than 10, I'd say 20.

**What do you dislike about Tekmetric?**

The application doesn't let you take more pictures while it is uploading a current picture. I wish it could upload images in the background without stopping me from continuing the inspection. I think if I can take all the images back to back quickly and the application uploads in the background, it would be more efficient. Or if it let me save all the images then upload them after the inspection is complete, I could work faster.

I like the inspection tab where we can upload photos and share them with clientele. It allows us as a repair facility to provide a level of transparency that is lacking in most other repair facilities and dealerships in our area. Honestly, everything works and gels pretty seamlessly. The setup of Tekmetric was fantastic and very easy to set up the shop, even easier after using the training videos.

Honestly everything works and gels pretty seamlessly. One thing I would like is an option to DM technicians directly from the advisor side to ask questions or just keep them informed on timelines and updates. I would like the integration of DC and Tekmetric to be a little more seamless. Make texting the customer an easier experience.

The access to all types of reports really helps me manage my business effectively. I like how easy it is to use and the fact that I can access it on every type of device I own. Organization has been huge for my small business, making it much more manageable. The initial setup was extremely easy, and I would definitely recommend it to others.

I find it very easy to manage Tekmetric and appreciate that it gets straight to the point quickly. I like that I can calculate labor time without needing to switch to other tools like ALLDATA. What I really enjoy is how easily I can put together estimates in a timely manner. I also like having labor and part vendors available all in one app, which is super convenient. The initial setup was easy, making the transition to using Tekmetric smooth for me.

I don't like that the labor time varies from ALLDATA. Even though it doesn't affect usability much, it would be better if it were more consistent.

**What do you like best about Tekmetric?**

Switching to Tekmetric has been an incredibly pleasant change from the previous software we were using. The platform is intuitive, the RO layout is clean and straightforward, and the added features—especially inventory ordering and tracking—have made our workflow smoother and more organized than ever.

One of the biggest highlights has been their customer support. Every time we’ve reached out, we’ve either gotten an immediate answer or a prompt call back. After trying multiple software systems over the years, it finally feels like we’ve found a home with Tekmetric.

And as a bonus: if you ever run into anyone from the Tekmetric team at events or conferences, they’re genuinely friendly people with a great sense of humor. Overall, we couldn’t be happier with the switch! 

I would highly recommend that shops switch, and the fact that our average repair orders and profits have more than doubled since coming on board about 8 months ago. We have not had Tekmetric crash once, unlike previous software that would crash and go down at least once a week.

**What do you dislike about Tekmetric?**

We have some changes we would like to see, but overall, we have no complaints or dislikes.

**What problems is Tekmetric solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Reporting and advisors/technicians being able to see GP% and GP/hr for every RO has really made people aware of the target numbers that need to be reached. It's been awesome seeing that live data right in your face and not just selling a job to sell a job. Knowing where there is take and where there is give to make our customers happy and also hit the numbers we need to sustain and be profitable has been awesome.

This adaptability is vital because technicians frequently use the calendar to track job progress and manage ongoing work when additional tasks are authorized by customers. Another fantastic advantage is the seamless integration with repair orders, complemented by the new integration with Tekmetric Marketing. This enhancement automates text messaging for follow-ups, appointment confirmations, and reminders, greatly streamlining our communication process. Furthermore, the initial setup of Tekmetric is very straightforward and user-friendly, enhancing the overall ease of adoption and making it accessible for teams to start using efficiently.

Moving an authorized job from one repair order to another repair order for the same customer is problematic. It requires the customer to re-authorize a job they have already approved on a previous repair order. This process is cumbersome and undermines the appearance of professionalism from the auto shop.
