I wish that it would backup tasks and notes as well. We have had some users that use Outlook notes and something happens with their Outlook and they are unable to retrieve their notes and tasks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What I like the most is how easy it is to configure before putting the solution into operation. Backing up is one of the easiest things. In the years that I have used the Spanning Backup tool, we have had no problems performing backups or recovering information when necessary. We have seen in these years that other tools can complement and improve the available options, it would be good to have a license available within the console that allows us to evaluate the characteristics and know if it is necessary. It’s very easy to implement: you simply log in with admin credentials, and it automatically syncs in the portal.

I also like that it integrates with M365 and Google Workspace. The backup isn’t limited to email; it can also save data from OneDrive, SharePoint, and Google Drive.

Backups are automated and run daily in the backend, so there’s no need to do anything manually, which saves time.

Restoration was straightforward as well. I especially appreciated that we could request the specific email to be restored directly into a folder in the user’s inbox.

Backups also sometimes fail or don’t sync at the requested frequency. When a backup fails, the system doesn’t seem to handle it or retry automatically, so it has to be fixed manually by requesting the backup again and repeating the process until it finally works.

Customer support is very slow and hard to reach, and when they do reply, the responses don’t provide the solution I’m expecting.

Spanning Backup is overall a solid tool, but there's room for improvement. The reporting dashboard could be more detailed and easier to read at a glance. Also, the initial configuration can feel a bit overwhelming for new users — a more guided onboarding experience would go a long way. Would love to see more granular restore options as well! Kaseya ruined this. The way licenses are modified was supposed to be better but it does not let you update it right in the moment where I found myself needing to come back to it to update the license whenever the system decided to recognized that users were removed. What I appreciate most about Spanning Backup is that it’s a reliable “set it and forget it” solution. After the initial configuration, it runs quietly in the background with minimal administration, which gives me peace of mind that our important Microsoft 365 data is protected. I don’t have any specific concerns or major drawbacks to point out. The platform reliably does what it’s meant to do, and it doesn’t demand much day-to-day attention from me. If anything, future improvements would probably be best directed toward the overall user experience and better visibility, rather than fixing any significant issues. I reduced our footprint and was happy to continue using Spanning O365 Backup. It is reliable and easy to manage. The daily backup review page is nice to see successes and failures for each assigned account. I would prefer an option to choose a single .PST file if my ISP bandwidth will allow for backing up user email upon exit such as terminations or resignations. Unlike many backup platforms that try to protect everything from servers to virtual machines and cloud infrastructure, Spanning focuses primarily on protecting SaaS data such as:

From my perspective, my concerns would not be about the product’s reliability, but rather about its scope and strategic fit.

1. It only solves part of the backup problem

This is by far the biggest limitation.

Spanning protects SaaS data such as:

* Microsoft 365

* Google Workspace

* Salesforce

It does not protect:

* Servers

* Virtual machines

* Workstations

* Network devices

* On-premises applications

Impact:
