I like how Paylocity houses both US and Canada employee data, making reporting efficient and eliminating the need to merge separate reports. The full suite of HR modules covers every aspect of HR management, which is very convenient. It was also a cost-saving move for us compared to our previous HRIS. Additionally, Paylocity has made running payroll efficient across the US and Canada, and it allows for easy handling of benefit enrollments and premium collections. I appreciate the way it manages recruiting and onboarding processes directly on the platform. The reporting feature that lets me capture and analyze data for organization metrics regarding headcount, compensation, and retention is also really helpful. One area that could improve is the customization. Different modules have different customization capabilities. Some modules we can configure to fit our needs, whereas other modules have very little configuration capabilities, so what it presents is what you get. It can be frustrating to figure out which modules can be configured and which can't. It would be great to fully customize fields and workflows. Paylocity has introduced conditional workflows, but it doesn't allow for much customization on the fields or pathways. For the most part, it's a pretty decent input of information on a weekly basis, and it has been fairly simple to use. What do you dislike about Paylocity? We've had some frustrations in using Paylocity and making corrections. It's not quite as easy to make some of the corrections as we would like, and there have been situations that have come up. On the customer service side, it's been difficult at times to get hold of someone, except for Javel, who is always available for us. However, there should be other resources within Paylocity to help us on a weekly basis when we have issues that come up. We also notice limitations within reports and weekly payroll administration, and have faced some frustrations from time to time. I feel that there should be a customer service rep who is responsible for us and could ensure we're happy since other than Javell, no one really checks in to ask if everything is going okay. I'd say Paylocity makes the payroll process fairly easy and expedites the delivery of checks. I like that Paylocity is intuitive and integrated, which makes it a great one-stop-shop for a variety of transactions, from onboarding to offboarding. It has eliminated all the manual paperwork we had before and makes it easy to track and stay compliant. The integration works flawlessly, allowing us to upload files and transfer data without any hassle. The setup was really easy, thanks to the super effective team from Paylocity who assisted us. The only comment, and I've made this directly to our service team, is that sometimes the service reps don't read emails carefully. We tend to have to go back and forth a lot to make sure that they understand our question, issue, or request for configuring something. The payroll platform itself when using it for basic functions is easy to use, navigating the help sections can be time-consuming and the answers are not always easy to find. Pricing is mid-range but you do get a decent amount of functions for the cost. Integrations are average, it is annoying that you can't print paper checks directly from the platform unless you purchase their check paper. You are assigned to a team, but when you raise a question, it gets passed to different departments or experts but they all use the same generic email and no one takes accountability or ownership. One specific issue I needed help with took 6 payroll cycles just to get it resolved. My most difficult challenge is at a new year - loading new onboarding events into the system for onboarding. I don't think it's as user friendly as it could be. It's a little confusing for me. Sometimes I still feel like categories between onboarding, performance, time and labor are disconnected. I am not sure if there are little tutorials I can take for these things or not. I feel its UI is very intuitive, easy to navigate. When there are things I don't understand between the knowledge base, AI interface, and their customer service I get answers rather quickly. After reviewing many other services, with the integrations that are available - it made the mose sense for us to stay with Paylocity. What do you dislike about Paylocity? I still feel I have to do a lot of research on my own to fully understand the product and what I need to do to stay compliant. I recently enabled the HR edge feature with the understanding that it would help with compliance, but many of my questions get turned back to my standard paylocity team. We grew really rapidly from a team of about 10-12 to over 50 within a few years - timecards and payroll were still done manually in spreadsheets and on paper so switching to an online system really helped bring us into the current century. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Paylocity? Paylocity does have limitations in functionality, specifically around platform customization. Many features are standard and unable to be customized, specifically with reporting, automatic messaging, and workflows. The system doesn't allow you to manipulate and combine some fields in reporting, so you have to run multiple reports, and then pull them together through Excel. Having the ability to pull any field into a single report directly from the system would help with efficiency, and for those who don't have strong skills in Excel. I like that Paylocity integrates with Blue Marble (their international payroll arm). I also appreciate that I can run as many payrolls as needed, which is especially helpful when employees resign at the last minute in California and Hawaii (both immediate pay states). I like the number of modules you can choose from, and I’ve been particularly happy with Time and Labor. The pricing is very reasonable for what we get, and we haven’t had issues with the system being down. Onboarding varies by country, but overall it has been very good. I also have regular calls with our team at Paylocity to work out any kinks as they come up. Finally, I like the reporting the system provides on turnover and employee information. It’s not always clear what’s required for international staff in Paylocity, or what will trigger sync issues—France, in particular, has been challenging. Time-off accruals also aren’t real time. We had real-time accruals with our previous HRIS system, so I know it can be done, and I really wish Paylocity offered real-time accruals as well. This gap definitely creates issues for our finance team. I also don’t like that when someone moves to a new location (we’re a global business with global mobility), we have to fully terminate them in the system and then rehire them as new. That process disrupts the employee ID number we use in Concur. As a result, someone in Paylocity has to delete all of the “pay history” from closed payrolls just to change a location in the system, which is definitely frustrating. I would like their analytic reporting on disability and other things to be global not just US based. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
