I really like Paylocity's platform because it's user-friendly and intuitive, which is important for the user experience. The system works well for our entry-level employees who need quick access to information, as well as for our mid-level staff who need to use the reporting tools. For those of us who work extensively with data, it's great to have such a robust system where we can build automatic data reports. I find the social integrations to be wonderful for boosting employee engagement and communication across the organization. The reporting functions, particularly for labor distribution, are also quite beneficial for business functions outside of HR. Additionally, it's convenient to have everything in a single, central repository, providing a single source of truth for the organization. The platform doesn't hog data on mobile devices, which is a common issue with other HRIS systems. Sometimes the cross-functionality between the core HR and payroll product and the other modules like time and labor can be confusing. It's not always clear whether I should adjust user access through the HR and payroll side or the time and labor side. The more modules we explore, the more complex the setup becomes, especially post-implementation. It's difficult to achieve everything during the implementation phase, both in terms of cost-effectiveness and time efficiency. To navigate this effectively, you really need some technical finesse and prior experience with multiple software implementations to appreciate what Paylocity offers. All-in one. Features for both admin and staff, right from the initial job offer of the candidate and full-cycle onboarding. We use it as one of our means for distributing information through the community board, keeping track of regulatory training in our industry, a quick glance for compensation history and more. There can be so many layers to paylocity, which is great if you know how to use them. The AI chat has been helpful in finding certain tools and giving how-to's, but can use some refining as it doesn't always direct me in the right direction. In payroll, while entering or making changes to the hours, codes, deductions, etc., I'd like to be able to see from that screen everything that is going to show on the pay statement without having to navigate away ato view check to see those items on another screen. I really appreciate Paylocity for its ability to streamline HR tasks, allowing me to manage most responsibilities without additional staff. The professionalism of the service line is excellent, as they are very knowledgeable and helpful. I often rely on their expertise and value how they are like an extension of my team, offering dependable HR professionals whenever I need extra help. The service team is particularly impressive, as they follow up to ensure I have all I need after a call. They are rarely stumped by my questions. The initial setup was also pretty easy. The only issue I've had is with Airbase. The customer service through that part of the company hasn't been as good. Every once in a while, which happened to me once or twice out of probably 50 times, someone will just refer me to links instead of helping directly. I don't want links or to be sent to a website; I want someone to actually tell me what to do. However, this is very rare, and I believe it's only been one person a couple of times. I like how interactive the platform is, and I also appreciate how efficient the support team is when it comes to helping. If I need a question answered, I can use the AI tool, which usually points me to helpful articles, though not all the time. Sometimes I still have to do my own digging, but if not, I can always call the Aylocity support team because they consistently have an answer and they’re fast. There are simply too many tabs to find one single thing. It also throws me off that there is only one supervisor and reviewer, when I should have the opportunity to set different people for one employee. The codes among the cost centers also get very tricky to understand. I wish we could also mass set things instead of doing them one by one. What I like best about Paylocity is having payroll, time tracking, and benefits unified in one intuitive platform.

The pre-process audit tools make running payroll virtually stress-free by catching errors before anything gets finalized.

On the employee side, the mobile app is fantastic for checking pay stubs, requesting PTO, and viewing tax forms on the go.

Moving new hires seamlessly from recruitment straight into onboarding saves our admin team hours of tedious data entry.

The automated multi-state tax compliance also gives us complete peace of mind as our team grows.

What I dislike most about Paylocity is the inconsistency of customer support when you run into complex edge cases or tax errors.

The custom reporting module has a steep learning curve and feels far clunkier than the rest of the modern interface.

Platform updates can occasionally trigger surprise UI shifts or minor system slowdowns without much advance notice.

I like Paylocity because it’s very user-friendly and configurable, especially from an administrator perspective. I’ve worked with Payroll, Benefits, Time & Labor, Recruiting, Onboarding, Performance, and LMS, and I like how those areas are connected within one platform.

From an HRIS perspective, I especially like the ability to configure workflows, automate onboarding and approvals, build reports, and troubleshoot employee data in one place. One thing I like less about Paylocity is that reporting and some advanced configuration can be less flexible for complex requirements. For more sophisticated reporting or troubleshooting, I sometimes need additional validation in Excel or work with support to get the exact result I need. I like the way that E-Verify and the I-9 are built into Paylocity, so I don't have to go externally to the E-Verify website. I also like that customer support is available whenever I need. I like how easy it is to view onboarding packets, launch workflows, and the UI of the software in general is very user friendly. Navigating Paylocity is pretty smooth. However, creating journal notes can be frustrating. It would be easier if it was built into their individual profiles, rather than a different section in the software. I also like that I can ask the AI assistant questions. It helped me save so much time when it taught me that I can mass upload documents into an employees profile, rather than dragging and dropping individually into the documents section of their profile. I don't like that journals aren't part of an employee profile. It makes it difficult to track hundreds of notes and interactions per day, as it takes too much time to navigate to the employee journal and add the notes there. The journal section also is quite jumbled, showing many entries but only sorted when you search for a specific employee. I have a deep appreciation for Paylocity's organized migration plan, which made the transition seamless and not difficult for us. It effectively solved significant issues we had with our previous provider, such as tax problems and unsatisfactory customer service. I'm impressed with the superior reporting capabilities Paylocity offers, which stand out compared to other systems we've evaluated. The mobile app is notably better and more functional, enhancing usability for our team. Features like recruiting, onboarding, and time and labor management are outstanding, with performance management being very good. The reliability, accuracy, and intuitiveness of the system make it user-friendly, especially the benefits module, which I find particularly strong and easy to manage for our staff. Additionally, the competitive pricing and much better customer support compared to previous providers are noteworthy. I find it challenging that the benefits module in Paylocity is treated almost completely separate from HRIS and payroll. This separation can create inefficiencies, as I would prefer these functionalities to be more integrated. Additionally, the support is separated between benefits and the rest of the system, which sometimes makes it less helpful. Paylocity is easy-to-navigate and intuitive. The features are easy to identify. Onboarding and recruiting are intuitive to complete and the new hire experience is seamless. I like that it integrates with our benefits system and retirement site so that we do not have to worry about manually checking. The payroll system saves me hours each week by telling me what timecards are incomplete, need correction, or are unapproved. I learned payroll for the first time using the Paylocity system and it has been much more simple than I ever imagined. I am not sure what the price is - am an assistant, I enjoy it. I do not like how account managers have been switched around, especially without communication. We reached out to our Account Manager's supervisor to request that we stay on as her clients without being switched and she never responded. Account Managers are switched often, and clients do not have a say. I also don't like the inconsistent support from Account Manager to Account Manager - some simply copy and paste PEAK articles in their emails and others personalize. I don't love the use of AI that is rising - it is not very helpful. I wish T&L and HR were integrated so I could see timecards when looking at profiles Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
