GeoHECRAS is helping our company model river reaches faster and more accurate. And the user-friendly interface makes it very easy to use. You can easily modify the reaches by drawing it and deleting. I have not really encountered a down side to the software yet. At least not for what I am using it for. Most of my usage has been with extracting 2D points for writing computer numerical controlled (CNC) machine programs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Sometime it feel heavy at times on older systems, startup and large files handling aren't always smooth. The interface also hasn't changed much, which is good for consistency but can feel out dated compared to newer design tools. So basically these are not a major issues. Instead of guessing measurements aur re drawing from scratch I can relay on precise units reusable blocks and layers that keep everything organised. The main thing i find challenging in NX is that some commands can feel overwhelming for new users.

Designcenter NX helps me create accurate designs, manage assemblies properly and generate clean drawings without spending unnecessary time.

Designcenter solves the problem of repeatedly recreating standard components and searching through files manually. By centralizing reusable parts and design elements, it saves time, reduces errors, and ensures design consistency. The only issues I have ran into so far are crashes and the autosave function failing. At times, it will freeze up randomly even if there was no input into the program. Additionally, the autosave feature is not the greatest, as it doesn't always reconnect to the host server. I actually lost a small amount of work from yesterday due to this. Altium allows me and my company to streamline our development process and integrate multiple different designs and boards in one program. Previously, we were using KiCad which didn't allow for multiboard design. Now, we are able to work with ease. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

-A lock or read-only mode for supplied model elements would be helpful for regulatory workflows--especially when we only want to add or isolate certain features without changing the approved hydrology that is not impacted by the updates.

-Make calculation assumptions clearer and allow options. For example, when calculating TCs the hydraulic radius is assumed. However, some cities prefer velocities for channelized flow to be assumed. In the report feature include more detailed calculations so it is easier to implement in the submitted report. Or possibly allow an option to generate a well-structured TC and CN excel sheet that includes detailed calculations.

-For CN calcs include the basin name in the attribute table for the intermediate results shapefile. This way if we need to merge all of them together in GIS they still can be categorized by the basin

-Allow for several terrain layering for tcs etc. For example if we have multiple terrains and want one terrain read for part of the tc and a different one for a seperate portion.

-The report feature is very beneficial however i think AI could be implemented to help improve the context, structure, calculations, etc. This will help the user better incorporate the hydrology model and its parameters in their overall drainage report that is to be submitted.

-Allow better control of what component is being selected. Right now, if i have the HMS model on and add a cad file or other shapefiles i cannot select them while the hms model is on.

-In HEC-RAS there is a tool that allows the user to compare geometries and points out any differences. This would be beneficial in GeoHMS

-Before running the model if there are elements with no downstream connection add a pop up before running prompting the user to confirm before running. There have been times when working with large models that i have gone through several iterations and then find out that one junction is missing a connection. OvOverall, GeoHECHMS significantly reduces time and increases efficiency by eliminating the need to use multiple software programs. GeoSTORM offers a large number of video tutorials that are helpful for learning the software; however, it would be beneficial to also have a comprehensive user manual that could be easily referenced. While the program makes it relatively intuitive to add hydraulic features and place them correctly within a user-defined coordinate system, locating the specific tutorial needed to understand certain workflows or output options can take some time. A consolidated written guide or more detailed indexed reference could improve efficiency for both new and experienced users when searching for specific procedures or troubleshooting steps. GeoSTORM helps address the complexity of analyzing and communicating drainage systems for both urban and rural developments. Many of my projects include a combination of overland channel flow with spillway outfalls, as well as detention ponds discharging into storm sewer trunk lines. SketchUp is frustrating to me due to the fact that it limits a user when most projects become more sophisticated, especially in areas such as high-detail modeling or advanced rendering. If the file is heavy, performance will definitely decline and for the features that are considered to be very important like powerful rendering, advanced modeling tools, and better material management—most of them already be paid plugins or third-party extensions. The ease of use is a plus for newcomers to 3D modeling, but it can eventually turn out to be a constraint for projects that are meant for professional quality. SketchUp has the ability to rapidly transform the initial design concepts into precise, correlative 3D images, thus eliminating the need for proficiency in CAD or a complex process. It is a great tool for brainstorming ideas, experimenting with scales, and communicating designs to clients or partners in a much quicker manner than the traditional drafting process. Being very user-friendly, I am able to iterate fast, have several options and spot problems early in the design timeline. Thus, I can save time, minimize the number of times I have to do the same thing over again, and get from the idea stage to the presentation stage with very little resistance. One thing I didn’t like initially about Coohom was that the interface felt a bit overwhelming. Since the layout is different from some other design tools, it took me time to understand where certain settings and controls were located. In the beginning, this slowed down my workflow. I also felt that some features are not very intuitive at first. You sometimes have to try a few times or watch tutorials to fully understand how a specific tool works. For someone using it for the first time, that adjustment period can be slightly frustrating. As an interior designer with around two years of experience, one of the biggest challenges I face is presenting ideas clearly to clients. At this point, I haven’t found any drawbacks to Shapr3D. I use several other applications, but I find Shapr3D to be superior in comparison. Perhaps in the future, Shapr3D could introduce technology that allows for animations with the components. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
